Smell of cigarettes everywhere
Robert
Checked in late but the front desk lady was nice. Room was sooooo hot inside since the AC was off. Never fully got cold despite hours of running so sleeping was miserable. Room smelled like mold. Didn't even trust breakfast based on Room. You not recommend.
Clinton
Great clean hotel with nice staff.
Eric
If you just need a place to stop for the night this might work but I wouldn't want much more than that. Staff was very polite but the room was just ok at best. Bed was very uncomfortable, the chair in the corner was not something you'd probably want to use. The arm of the green chair looked pretty brown, not sure if it was really dirty or just really old and worn out.
Billy
It’s good for the price. It’s not really close to anything but if you are just passing through it is perfect
Beverly
Plenty of parking. Night staff were very friendly. Room was spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable. Good shower pressure and plenty of hot water. Would stay there again. Breakfast was continental- no frills.
William
Hotel is way out by itself. Remodeled but only thing I would suggest is newer rugs in room.
Sheila
Hotel is very dated in style but very clean. Staff were on the surly side.
Tory
The breakfast wasn't quite what I expected. It could have had a little better selection of foods.

Our room wasn't cleaned during our 3 day stay, so we had to ask for new towels each day
Cherrie
One night stay on road trip. Hotel is old and in interesting neigh b orhood . Price was good for one night stop would not stay for extended time as seemed far away from places visitors would travel to. Full parking lot was nearly empty next morning so I assume that is the norm
Gaye
Overall, it was a great place to stay for an overnight stay. The only thing I would recommend is to upgrade the mattresses. Everything was clean and staff were friendly!
Kristi
The hotel is located in an area of town that is run down. When you walk in the decor is extremely outdated, potted fake plants with dust on them that look like they've been sitting there since 1985, a clock that doesn't work. It felt like a museum. The person at the front desk was in no hurry to assist us, then had to manually enter our credit card. Not a big deal, just another example of how outdated this hotel is. The room only has the basics - like one tiny bar of soap, no extra's that you might see in other hotels. The mattress was very thin and the blanket looked like it had been borrowed from someone's grandma's house. We would not stay here again.
Tyler
Out dated rooms. Carpet was dirty. Breakfast was very basic. Tried to cancel after the first night and manager advised they had a 4 night minimum and didn’t offer anything. Air conditioner in the room broke last night we stayed there. They again didn’t offer anything to resolve this issue. Advised us to just leave it turned off and it would work again. It never did! Poor experience.
John
Toilet seat anchors were loose and dangerous to sit on seat. Missing light bulb in lamp over night stand.
Brenda
At first, I was a little concerned, as it was a touch more off the highway than I usually stay when traveling. That being said, it was literally just a couple of minutes. It also had a bit of an industrial feel, but in reality, food, gas, and anything you might need was just down the road.
The parking lot was well lit and safe.
We also found the property clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms were also very clean and the beds comfortable.
In addition, the breakfast was hot, good, and well attended. I liked that they pre-portioned the waffle mix and kept it in the refrigerator so there was no messy overflows.
My son, dog, and I just stayed one night while traveling for vacation, and I would definitely stay here again. Especially since the rate was considerably lower than places closer to the highway. Again, just a couple of minutes off I-70, it was still very convenient.

Room was clean. Staff was helpful.

They had parking for a trucks & trailer, which is tough to find. I found it had the basic necessities, which is what I was looking for.
Nice clean quiet room.

Well worth the price. Convenient location.

Everything was fine! Nicely decorated hotel!
Mary L
Room was decent but needed updating. Breakfast was first come first serve and items had run out and were not being replenished.
Gretchen
Stayed one night and then, as travel plans evolved, I went back for a second night...so, obviously, it met my needs and was a good place to stay. Breakfast is \"evolving.\" Waffles were popular, and eggs/sausage have been added, but they didn't have salt/pepper yet.
My room(s) were quiet, clean, comfortable beds and the staff were welcoming.
The area surrounding area, has little to offer but I chose it because it was the closest option to family I was visiting. I felt safe, but had to drive a mile or two to find fast food.

Decent place for the price. No frills, just a place to sleep, cable TV and breakfast. There’s an indoor pool but it was pretty cold. Very dog friendly, super close to the airport. We went for the airsoft field and the combat air museum so it was a great location for both. Definitely check out Happy Basset Barrel House down the street. Yummy food and fun atmosphere.
Julie
Room was clean, had a microwave and minifridge for our milk. Breakfast was pretty good. Has indoor pool ! Will definitely stay again!
Sarah
The room was fine; it was clean and didn't look too worn down. The two beds were relatively comfortable. The microwave, fridge, and coffee pot all worked. The air conditioner in the room worked, but every time the compressor kicked on, it made a loud rattling noise that made it hard for a light sleeper like myself to get to sleep and stay asleep. The breakfast was decent-- they actually had make-your-own waffles. One nice and easy addition to the breakfast items would be to provide individual cups of peanut butter (like they do for syrup or jelly) to put on the bread. This hotel was a satisfactory option for an overnight stay.
MARY LEIGH
It was sufficient and they provided breakfast and coffee.
Debbie
The breakfast was terrible .The bear minimum .
Joan
Nice clean hotel with truck parking.
Sandra
Don’t count on breakfast. Very limited selection and when things ran out, they were not restocked until the next morning. Very few restaurants near by. Room was clean, but outdated. Also, hotel charged a $10 (plus tax) “safe use fee” even though my reservation via Hotels.com said all fees & taxes were included. They told me they would refund that fee, but it still has not been refunded to my card.

hair dryer did not work. room was dirty and needs some fixing up!

Not heated pool. No eggs, meat, peanut butter. Low protein meal, high processed sugar loaded food
Rebecca
Everything was wonderful. The continental breakfast was skimpy and definitely sugar and carb laden with barely any protein available.
Kristine
Breakfast was good. Staff was super friendly. Beds were very comfortable
Jackie
Just needed a room for the night. Easy & convenient.

Stay was ok. Not many options for breakfast. Settings wore off on heat & air.
Stacey
Breakfast was not great options at all.
Anita
The room was clean and inviting, excellent bed (firm mattress and comfy pillows), hot and strong shower, good continental breakfast and efficient staff. Had to drive a few minutes for restaurants but then had a good variety to choose from. Good place to stay.
Susan
I stayed for two nights for a KU football game since Lawrence was sold out. It was an easy drive to and from Lawrence. Also the morning of the game the breakfast was filled with all KU fans going to the game. \"ROCKCHALK\"

Check in took forever. At least 10 people were lined up.
Vinton
The bathroom vent was very dirty.

No way this place gets the reviews that it has legitimately. Looked at 4 different rooms on property could not find a bed that was softer than the floor. The heater quit working in the middle of the night. The comforters on the beds were ridiculously thin and cheap. Terrible lack of cleanliness. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Not worth saving a couple dollars at all.
Connie
Elevator is in need of repair, the ice maker on the 3rd was out of order.
Galeiah
clean room.
Marla
The room is very spacious, clean and quiet. Great location.
Steve
The first room they gave us smelled terrible. We had to switch to a different room. There is no elevator in the hotel… Very strange. The locks on the room door was very questionable.
Toni
The morning greeter behind the desk was cheerful
Ramona
Cost and. Cleanliness were great
Richard J
Room was acceptable. Ice machine was not working
Winona
Everything seemed ok in the room except the curtains were falling off the rod, looked horrendous. They hung over the heater, so I has to tuck them into the window frame just so the heat could flow. No channel guide, like most hotels print for the room. Ice machine on 3rd floor was out of service. Never seen to find a good hotel with an ice machine in the 3rd floor that works. I noticed upon check in, some \"residents\" of the hotel were in the pool area with food and drink. That's not supposed to be allowed either. I have worked hospitality before, and that's normally not allowed. Bed was hard, pillows small and uncomfortable. Not enough outlets to plug in charging devices for phones, tablets, etc. Heater only ran on high for the heat, so I had to adjust the temperature knob, that was touchy itself. Sometimes it was to hot, or to chilly. But no other option. Didn't appreciate being put in the 3rd floor, all the way to the end of the hallway. Guess maybe 3rd party bookings get stuck with the 3rd floor??
Chris
Came in late. Left early. Would stay there again.
The breakfast Cafe 100 yards away is great!

Great stay! The room was clean and comfortable, had TV, microwave, and mini-refrigerator. The staff were excellent and it was very quiet. I will definitely stay there next time I'm in town.

Just an F for Hotels.com
I write this directly to Hotels.com for continually scheduling me the night after. Thankfully I had the next day off so I took it up, considering I had already paid for it. What Hotels.com is doing is scamming people it’s plain and very simple. The people
here are very nice and the place is super clean and safe. My only complaint is how Hotels.com does business and how 3rd party companies as such completely do you in the wrong. It should honestly be illegal.

It was quiet kinda out in nowhere land. Told us about a few restaurants but none close by thatcwasnt a bar

We didn’t eat breakfast. Parking was good. Staff excellent. Area around the property is not the best.

Off the Path
This Super 8 is south of Topeka in a very wide open and quiet area. Parking lot was empty when I arrived just after 3 pm, but was full when I left the next morning. Never heard a sound. Kind of isolated, but a nice food stop/diner/gas station around the corner. I loaded up on pizza slices and hot deli sandwiches for under $20 and was good for the night and the morning. Diner was packed. Great coffee service in the room with gourmet coffee packs and a 4-cup brewer. Good location for low traffic into the heart of the capitol and all the official buildings. Never worried about my vehicle.
Chanelle
Overall stay was good. Staff not friendly or helpful.

Not bad
Robert
It would be nice if there were better protein options for breakfast my wife is gluten free so she had oatmeal and coffee. Eggs would be great!

The pictures are not a true depiction of the property. Things are out dated. The bed was uncomfortable , it seemed brokedown. The breakfast was exceptionally limited.
henry
musty smell coming from AC unit, not very cool either.
kelsey
Stated they were service dog friendly. Upon arriving at almost midnight wanted paperwork and documents provided for service dog. This was never stated in check-in instructions or l on website, so had Expedia refund me and went somewhere else much more accepting and accommodating.
Jesse
Staff’s very unfriendly and rude. The beds were terribly uncomfortable. The rooms and hotel were clean which is about the only positive. I read other reviews while staying at the hotel and discovered they charge crazy $10 fees if they find stains on hand towels. I travel often and have never had an experience any hotel this bad. Stayed for 1 night and it cost me $170 and I got zero rest. Also we arrived at 9:00 pm and the pool was already closed. The pool opens at 9am and closes at 8:30pm. This place is absolutely shady and not worth the money. I wouldn’t pay $50 to stay here. I definitely would love a refund because this experience was horrible. The only possible way someone could enjoy staying here is if they enjoy terrible service and like sleeping on pavement.
Robert
Affordability, location from the interstate and convenience
Tim
Location to event and the lady working the counter was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of people staying this night for a youth event that had to be gone early 0545. She said we could get the breakfast grab and go stuff early. The morning lady was entirely different. I turned on the light. She shut it off and said get your stuff in the dark. Very unprofessional. Would not even listen to us. Tried explaining what the night clerk had said. She just said this is my rule you’re going to do it my way.
Stacy
Friendly atmosphere
Glenn
The property had a hot breakfast a year ago, which now is a cold breakfast, except for the waffles. That was a bit disappointing.
Joanna
Bed hard as a rock. Poor air conditioning. Dog barking. Very limited breakfast options.
Tonja
We were only there one night but had no issues. Easy check in. Mattress was hard and breakfast options left a lot to be desired, but other than that everything was fine.
Carolyn
Would stay again.
The stay was fine. Would stay again. Wasn’t horrible and wasn’t great. Worth the price and convenient to my location I was there visiting. Pool was way over chlorinated it actually bleached my swim suit and burned my eyes to where I could only stay for just a moment. The curtains in room definitely needed replaced. The breakfast was good and staff was nice. Overall a pleasant experience.
D'Angelo
Sufficient for an overnight business trip
Teri
Would not stay here again
The gal who checked us in was rude and broke the law by asking for information regarding my service dog. She was insistent that she was entitled to demand an ID number.
When we reported that the air conditioning was not working, she was incredibly rude, explaining that it takes time for it to \"kick in\".

Good place for overnight stay! Comfy bed lots of comfy pillows-no flat ones!!! Nice walk in shower with a chair available if needed. Clean fluffy towels. Pool was clean and relaxing. Some restaurants close by. Easy on off 75.
Sarah
We enjoyed our stay and if we stay in the area again, we will return
Jeffery
Very nice stay, staff Very courteous and helpful
Anthony
It was okay, the exterior seemed a bit run down.

Rodents
This is the first hotel I’ve seen where they use residential sticky rodent traps outside rooms. It makes your mind wonder what else is going on, and if they taking similar shortcuts on cleanliness. It was uneasy. You don’t see that at a retail store let alone a hotel that’s serving food around the corner.
