We booked the room and paid for it online. When we arrived we were told the computers were down. We arrived late in the evening and they said they already completed their audit for the night and they showed we were booked for the next day even though I had the receipt. They turned us away and we had to find another hotel.
Expedia was awesome and we received a refund on our payment.

The room wasn’t too bad. The fold out bed that was in the couch was torn up quite a bit and very worn down the TV where the couch was was not working. The staff was decent. Overall the hot tub was lukewarm could be a lot warmer than that pool was ice cold.

Aweful. Pool shut down even though people were just swimming in it when we got there. I couldn’t sleep because the people next to us or on top of us were smoking cigarettes so my stay was disgusting and not relaxing at all. Paper plates for the breakfast area. Just sloppy and gross. I wish I could get my stay refunded, but I know that’ll never happen. I will absolutely never stay there again. It’s on Motel 6 level. The lamps in our room were coated in dust in the corners in the ceiling had spiderwebs. Now that I think of it… When we first got there, I had to wait 10 minutes for somebody to come help us check in. But nobody ever came so I just ended up calling the hotel while I was standing there and then that got someone’s attention. It’s just embarrassing.

Everything looked great minus the fact that I could smell something in my room. The odor was probably from people smoking in their rooms. I hate the smell of cancer sticks. Room was clean though so I’ll give them that. I ended up staying at a nearby hotel on my 4th day here in Topeka and if I had to choose between the two, I’d opt for the one in currently in. So, it was mostly the smoke odor that bothered me.

Hot tub and pool both out of order. Smoke detector in our room was covered in tinfoil. Most likely so that it wouldn’t go off when people smoked in the room. They were most definitely smoking in the hall. Very rude and bitter front desk girl. Room coffee maker broken. Exit doors propped open with rocks. Ice machine also out of order. When I asked about that, I was accused of “having attitude “. We selected this due the Best Western name and reputation. We won’t make that mistake again.

The price says it all. If all you want is a bed then this hotel is for you. This is a very run down hotel run by amateurs.

The first two rooms they showed me smelled very strongly of weed. Curtains are stained and ripped. Bed covering had a cigarette burn. Toilet bowl cracked. Tubs had some plastic mat glued to the bottom so that it couldn't really be cleaned correctly. Finally got a room with a spa tub that was $121.00 that was apparently above the price point where the weed smokers couldn't afford it and didn't trash the room.

Breakfast: First - no coffee available. I had to go to the front desk to ask them for coffee. The biscuits were very dry, the \"gravy\" was thin and watery, more like soup. Low selection of other items.

General facilities: There were multiple cigarette butts outside the front door that the reception lady pushed around with her foot instead of picking them up. The front reception had some seating contraption you can see in the picture that no one will ever use. The baseboards were cracked, dirty, and sloppily painted. The spa and pool were out of order.

The strangest part were the plastic mats they had glued down to the bottom of the tubs. There is no possible way that is sanitary. How do they clean that? I thought at first they were the suction cup mats and could be pulled up but they were not. They were plastic mats literally glued down to the bottom of the tub.

Best Western should remove their name until all of this is fixed.

Extra door lock was broken so I used the ironing board to feel safe since it was just me and my daughter staying there. Also medication was left by the sink by presumably the last guest…but it should have been found and cleaned up. Never again. Gross gross gross.

Staff Support was horrible they had a new woman checking us in who had no idea what she was doing. Took us 45 minutes to get checked in. The night manager had to come get us checked in. And the night manager was seriously rude at a unprofessional level. They charged us $87.00 & said that our payment declined. They when we showed them on our phone that it came out the bank, they said that was them charging us. I told the women I haven't made any stops in Kansas we haven't used this card since we are in Oklahoma. She insisted it wasn't them. Then I showed her the charge says Bestwestern Topeka Kansas & she still insisted it wasn't her. And said we can go to the ATM & Pay cash if our card is going to decline. It's negative 18 degrees outside we didn't want to leave so we told her to run our card again. It worked and she said rudely, \" see you must of had your card locked\". Which couldn't even be relevant if you never charged us. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD AT A HOTEL AND I DON'T RECOMMEND BOOKING HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT.

Some quirks

I was booked for three nights. I was originally given a room that was already occupied. So, I had to get a different room. The second room was supposed to be non-smoking but it had a distinct cigarette odor. Also, the TVs (I had a suite with 2 TV's) were not hooked up. I had to hook up one myself. The remotes did not work. I got one remote replaced that finally worked. In the bathroom, the metal frame surrounding the lights in the ceiling was hanging down. Which I felt could be a safety hazard if it came completely off and fell.

There was mold in the bathroom around the toilet and the shower. Roaches everywhere, deadbolt didn’t lock, and a hole drilled in the door that wasn’t fully covered. I think the hole was where the peephole for you to look out was drilled on the wrong end of the door and turned around. They stuffed a piece of tissue paper in there but didn’t fill the whole. I noticed the hole in the door immediately. It was awful. Breakfast I didn’t even touch because if there were that many roaches in my room, I’m sure they were in the kitchen. So left my room early and didn’t eat breakfast. When I awoke, I put my glasses on and immediately noticed the roaches on the console the tv was on. They didn’t even run and I even took pictures of them crawling around. I felt Very uncomfortable and unsafe in this room and with the location.

The main floor room was great. Strange smell though. When I called there at 5 to 2, I spoke to a woman at the counter that was clearly not trained properly or a new staff, and then another woman of an ethnic background jumped on the phone was very hard to understand her. She was all frustrated about something and told me I had to pay $100 deposit and I said no that was never explained. I have already paid by credit card and that I was there for two nights and she raised her voice and said then cancel then we need $100 deposit because people Steal from us and smoke in the rooms, etc. etc. When I walked into the lobby of the SureStay best Western Wokano and the woman I spoke to last was standing there, and I explain to her that we’re staying for two nights. We would check in before check in and check out before the time on Monday the 28th and then she was all fine and sweet. When we left this morning and checked out, I gave her the keys back to the hotel room. She thanked me. She apologized, and we went on our way. I will see this. It would’ve been nice to know that their pool was not ready to go very noisy upstairs. They had a family upstairs running and carrying on and it’s right on a busy street off of the Main Highway.

Horrible they couldn’t figure out my check in and took an hour to get me a key for my room. The side door didn’t lock so anyone could come into the building.. I go up to my room and the cable wouldn’t turn on no tv so I go to bed i wake up with 10 spider bites on my neck and back the worst place I have ever stayed definitely would not recommend to anyone

Breakfast was only good thing about this place. TV was impossible to work. Beat up remote.
