Pine Cliffs has multiple types of accommodations and the Village are 3 story buildings with an apartment on each floor. We were on the ground floor which was good as we did not need to walk the stairs. The apartments were very large and mostly clean, but a bit dated.

Most of the restaurants in the resort require booking in advance which we were not aware of until check-in, for many of them we were not able to make bookings for the 3 nights we were there and had to go to either the cafe or the buffet. All the restaurants in the resort are overpriced and there are many good restaurants within a 10 minute drive so would recommend dining options outside. The beach and the restaurant there is nice but it was a bit too crowded when we were there and it was not possible to get a sun lounger.

Nice but expensive stay

Pine cliffs is advertised as the best family luxury resort in Europe. I’ve been to many family resorts in Europe, all of which were all inclusive. Pine cliffs charges for every single extra, and it doesn’t come cheap. Trampolines for 10 min - 8 euros. Little cars for 10 min - 10 euros. Climbing adventure - varying prices. The food at the restaurants on site is nice but extortionate so we went out most evenings. Sun beds at the beach - if you don’t get there early, there are none available. Beach chairs are available though. Plenty of space at pools (pools are freezing though). Apartment in pine cliffs was very old and dated and didn’t match the pictures on hotels.com

All in all, for the price you pay I’d expect some of these kids activities at least to be included.

Had no idea what package Expedia sold me. They gave EUR 50 credit a day for a package where I paid cEUR 125 which makes no sense. They then refused to speak to Expedia to sort it out. Charged EUR 20 per day for ‘facilities charge’ which is for providing a shuttle bus around the resort…. They don’t make you aware of this and is just charging extra for things that you get included at any other hotel. Add on a ‘suggested 10% service’ for anything that you buy - even if you add nothing into the actual tip box when service isn’t great this 10% gets added to your bill. Just very very poor.

We had a great stay at Pine Cliffs. There were a couple of points I'd highlight for improvement. The pool areas are very crowded and I think the resort would benefit from having another pool. There were no staff or life guards around the pool areas. Other than that, it was great.

A Luxurious Oasis in the Heart of the Algarve

We had an incredible stay at Pine Cliffs Village in Albufeira! The grounds were ABSOLUTELY STUNNING — beautifully landscaped with lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and immaculate decor everywhere you looked. The entire resort felt like a peaceful oasis.

Every employee we encountered was kind, welcoming, and professional. About 80% spoke excellent English, which made communication easy and comfortable for us. We stayed in a lovely apartment near the main entrance, which was perfect for quick access to Bolts when exploring outside the resort. It was also just a short, pleasant walk to the main reception, pools, and beach.

We can’t say enough about the cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the property. The food and drinks were delicious and felt reasonably priced for the quality and atmosphere. Whether relaxing by the pool or strolling through the gardens, the experience was consistently exceptional.

Pine Cliffs Village is a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and natural beauty — we’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Algarve and can’t wait to return!

The accommodation was very good. Our apartment was excellent and service, especially from Reception staff, was also excellent. There were a few problems in the surrounding estate e.g. walking areas were sometimes dangerous with pathways not always well looked after -raised or broken 'mosaic' tiles in parts that did cause an accident. Also some of the golf practice facilities were in poor condition -mats need to be replaced on driving range and and grass around used for iron shots them is almost non-existent with excess usage. Also rules of playing course seem not to be applied consistently e.g. we were told that we couldn't book as a two-ball but then saw couples going out in that format immediately afterwards. Some concession should be also made for guests to the resort as compared to what appears to be a large number of day visitors e.g. either by a discount or pre-allocated tee times. As one of the reasons for coming here was to use the golf facilities the above were a disappointment.

A wonderful resort that truly is family friendly. Our 9 and 6 year olds enjoyed the kids and junior club activities. The resort was clearly busy but never felt full. The fact that there was onsite Covid testing was greatly appreciated. Recommended!

We like the location.
What we don't like: Both bathrooms in our townhouse lacked an outlet for a curling iron, how can that be in 2019.
We don't like the fact that the property walkways and lawns are not kept up as they should be for a 5 star property.
The rugs in the townhouse need to be replaced or cleaned.

Pine Cliffs is a wonderful resort with plenty of amenities for all ages. Numerous pools, private beach, two gyms and a host of bars and restaurants. That’s on the plus side. Unfortunately the food in all the restaurants varies from poor to average and is very highly priced. There is little by way of night time live entertainment and what we saw it was of poor quality. In summary, a five star resort of five star quality but unfortunately being run as a four star establishment.

We spent first 5 nights in a very tatty run down townhouse. We had problems with 2/3 toilets breaking and bed being very uncomfortable. The kitchen units were in a bad way. The placd was very old fashioned. The resort is t star buf accommodation 3 star. We moved to a new garden room apartment for the next phase. Restaurants are very pricey as is sport options. Could be more child friendly. Games room poor requires work.

The setting is stunning and townhouse really spacious. Most staff were great but one was pretty unhelpful, borderline rude. When we checked in we were told that we could get breakfast at the clubhouse the next morning. When we got there it turned out that there was a private breakfast for a competition that was going on. So we walked all the way back (not great since my daughter was recovering from knee surgery) and asked reception about our options - given we had now missed the standard breakfast buffet. Totally unhelpful and unsympathetic response. No apology. Aircon / heating units were broken in two rooms and rain came in under doors. Despite this we did on the whole have a lovely time and enjoy the beautiful beach. Restaurants outside the hotel were great and much cheaper than resort restaurants too.

Little paradise in Portugal

This is one of the best hotels in the region , very child friendly , and lots of ground for children to run . We stayed in a 2 bed town house which had everything we needed as a family , it was fully furnished , we went of peak season so the resort was quiet , how ever it is what we wanted . Staff were friendly and helpful , few local shops on the main rd and a supermarket which came in handy . I would definitely recommend this and can’t wait to get back .

A wonderful resort

This place was amazing! It offered any and everything you could possibly want in a resort. We loved our townhouse and the easy walk down to the beach. Because it was winter, we did use the outdoor pools, but the indoor one was fantastic! The staff was very helpful all the time. We had a great dinner in the cafe and a delicious lunch at the restaurant Zest - all so easy to walk to. The beach was beautiful! We only had a one-night stay, but would have been happy to stay longer!

Beautiful hotel, ideal with children

We visited with a four year old and a 6 month old baby. It was ideal, very child friendly, lovely pools and helpful staff. The beach was a bit of a walk through the hotel grounds, but there is a train shuttle which our son loved!

Overall very happy and would visit again. Only small negatives, the cleaning staff for the apartment (we had a two bed golf suite which was perfect in size, location and decor) varied in effort! Some days it was cleaned spotlessly and others it seemed it had just had a quick clean. The restaurants on site are not the cheapest but good quality. There are a few restaurants within walking distance outside the resort which are cheaper.

Overall would highly recommend for a family with young children

Booked a two bedroom apartment for my girlfriend and elderly aunt. To my surprise the grounds were quite spread apart and quite car oriented. There were no golf carts provided and the hotel shuttle service, while excellent when available, was at times hard to book. On numerous occasion the reception desk was not reachable or able to pick up the phone, which isn't something I expect from a five star rated hotel.

Finally, the resort falls short in terms of value for money, especially when compared with five star all inclusive experiences in other continents, which perhaps can be put down to economic differences.

Disappointing - cold townhouse with awful view

A disappointing stay at the Pine Cliffs. Townhouse was dark, dank and cold. They interior was dated and uncomfortable- certainly not five star. It was absolutely freezing inside and even with the heaters on it was difficult to feel warm. The townhouse overlooked a building site for the next development and the building work started at 7am till 8pm; so nit very peaceful either. Facilities and location next to beach are great, but stay away from the townhouses.

This was our fourth stay at Pinecliffs and it never disappoints - beautifully relaxing offering courses for kids and relaxation for adults.
However, whilst we stayed in the Golf DeLuxe Suite and the houses close to the main part in the oast which were all nicely furnished and 5*, we this time booked a standard suite via Expedia which was close to the entrance with an old fashioned air-conditioning system, an outdoor space we could not use due to the noise of the air con system and the oldest washing machine in the world. Make sure you book the proper 5* accommodation, otherwise you may be disappointed. The rest of the resort remains beautiful we did not manage to have one family dinner below €200 - with the current exchange rate this made the resort more expensive for us than eating out in London. The Japanese and PiriPiri restaurants are top - the others good but not outstanding. Reasonably kids menus are available in all restaurants.

We've been to Pine Cliffs every year since 2013 and it's been really good but this year the villa was dirty in places (someone's hair on the dryer and hair bobbles in the corner of the bedroom). We also struggled to get a sun lounger when it was obvious with some people that they \"reserved\" the sun loungers with their towels having gone away for over an hour. We asked the towel man about this and all he said was \"sorry no room\". For a five star hotel we would've thought we would get better service. As mentioned we have been visiting every year and this year we have noticed the standards have dropped a little making it feel less five star.

On our first visit to the Pine Cliffes resort we were all pleasantly surprised how spacious, relaxed and family friendly it was. Good facilities for our 11, 7 & 7 year old boys. Food was great and our townhouse accommodation was good. As we were thgood at the end of May the pools and seas were okay temperature wise and we had great weather generally. We will visit again!

Was the hotel actually open for paying guests!

Having visited pine cliffs many times it was quite a surprise to find so many venues closed!we know the resort very well and looked forward to the post construction results. Unfortunately the resort was pretty much taken over by a large convention of circa 700 who dominated everything!we were given no information at check in about the event and what the impact would be.restaurants open one night but not the next . Corda closed completely for event;pescador open and closing with no prior warning.the staff seemed to be as ill informed as us as to what what happening on a day to day basis. Even the driving range closed for the !Indeed we were made to feel we were getting in the way most of the time!
Wonderful business for pine cliffs but terrible holiday for us.perhaps time to try one of the other 5 star locations.no point in being loyal to pine cliffs as clearly not reciprocated. Not good enough pine cliffs!

Avoid the Apartments - 3 star not 5.

Just back from a 10 day stay. We booked the apartments but were so disappointed that we upgraded at some cost to the townhouses. The apartments are really dated, bathroom tiles cracked and bath/shower base cracked. The apartments also face the access road and main road so suffered from some road noise at night. They are also quite dark and depressing more like 3 star which is made worse by the fact that its a 5 star resort. When we were there they were doing alot of maintenance to the apartment area; avoid these at all costs. Hotel restaurants very expensive for both food and drinks but I guess it may not be any different to other 5 star resorts. There is several supermarkets/restaurants within walking distance so suggest go there.

Pine Cliffs is a very family / kids friendly place. Undoubtedly. And it is stunning. Really beautiful architecture and facilities. With pools to choose from everyday and a beach on its footsteps. Rooms are more like apartments which makes the stay comfortable for pre ta too. But... And there is a couple of big ones. The staff seemed untrained and unprepared to deal with the Easter period rush. Many mistakes were made. Taxis and tickets were not booked, some missed activities and disappointment to manage with the children. Room service would take 60-90 minutes sometimes. And still come with mistakes. Our internet services which all guests have to pay extra for was cut at 6am in the morning of our checkout (when we paid for it until checkout time at 10Am). It took them 2 hours to resolve this and put the Internet back up. And yes, be prepared to pay extra for absolutely everything. Nothing is included in the room you've booked. So for a 5 star hotel and for how much one pays to stay at Pine Cliffs, this is frankly not good enough.

We loved it.

We had a really great time at Pine Cliffs. We stayed in one of the Golf Suites, 2 bedrooms and living area. Room was very clean and modern furnishings. Kitchen had all major utensils, cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The resort itself was beautifully kept. Multiple restaurants (though because of the time of year that we went - first week of April - quite a few of the restaurants were not open yet). Private beach with lift from the cliffs to the beach level was awesome. Beautiful cliff-top, and beach level bar.

Resort really well thought out for kids - ramp access everywhere great for pram. Amazing playground with 2 life-size pirate ships, volleyball, basketball, bouncy castle, mini golf. Multiple swimming pools - majority of them outdoors (a bit cold in April as they weren't heated), but the indoor pool was heated and beautiful. Other facilities that we didn't use: gym, daycare facilities.

Close to Zoomarine theme park, which is also worth a look.

We had a great time, and would definitely consider going again.

We stayed over easter - and were lucky with the weather. A family of five - the whole holiday was great. We were pleased to have free Wifi - a great improvement. Enjoyed better accommodation than our previous stay - we were in the golf apartments - which we found to be well worth the little bit extra.

Christmas break with family - we had a lovely time - but there were many things to be unhappy with. the first townhouse we were shown was totally unacceptable and very old and tired looking. We walked in and straight out. We were given another apartment renovated within the last 2 years for a small supplement and it was much better but still had various problems. with heating and water and taps and lights. to be fair maintenance came straight away and resolved all the issues. Most of the hotel restaurants closed, therefore ones that are open are very busy and staff are rude and unfriendly although they are clearly working hard and doing their best. there is no food at all served at the lobby bar which is a first for me.the resort is very large and spread out and badly planned with long walks needed to many of the activities. The wifi is dreadful and only works in the lobby by reception, all other public areas seemed to receive no free wifi. in the rooms wifi is not free. the outdoor pools are not heated so although it is warm enough to be outside you cannot use the pools which is a shame for the kids. the indoor pool is very unpleasant and they charge you 4.5 euros for swimming caps which are obligatory and a complete waste of money as the pool is horrible so you only use them once. many rooms are self catering but there is no shop onsite to buy supplies.

Lovely resort but a complete rip-off!

A lovely resort that has truly 5 star facilities, setting & location. Unfortunately, it is completely let down by the lack of friendliness/customer service of staff but even more so....the unnecessary charging of absolutely everything, which leaves a very bad taste & is the reason we'll never return or recommend. Wi-Fi was charged at 50 Euros for 5 days, the family buffet was 45 Euros PER PERSON (half price for kids) but we had a quality, delicious meal for 45Euro for the WHOLE family right outside the resort & even the Crazy Golf cost us 20 Euros....any 5 star resort worth its name would be embarrassed to charge in this way. There are plenty other 5 star holiday resorts across the world we can stay at that don't take advantage of their guests in this way.

Luxurious, quiet and as peaceful as you want.

We stayed as a couple in a 2 bedroomed apartment with 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room and hall with large patio. Everything was in great condition and spotless. See later about TV.
The resort has sporting facilities galore, space to wander in the gardens, numerous clean pools, gym, tennis, golf course, lift to a private beach facing the sun and a host of bird-life in the Corsican pines.
The restaurants were costly especially the Piri Piri. An average Portuguese red wine was 36 euro and the waiter praised it be saying this is 2014!.
Numerous cheaper restaurants with much lower prices near the entrance and these were well frequented. takeaway pizzas available from several.
There were 3 TV sets, 2 served by an online system. Almost every day there was a problem accessing the system and frequent freezes. A helpful technician resolved , partially, the start-up system. When the channels were found there was very little worth watching. 2 BBC channels - World News and BBC Entertainment which seemed to show ancient series formerly broadcast on afternoon tv. The 3rd set showed the 4 free Portuguese channels - woeful.

Luxury resort with great facilities

This was our fifth family holiday at the Pine Cliffs and will not be our last, its a beautiful resort with great facilities and superb staff. Even though we went out of season our two young boys loved it due to the tennis lessons and coaches as well as the Porto Pirata kids club. The on-site food and drink prices are not cheap but then you are at a five-star resort, however, the quality is good. There are supermarkets and restaurants nearby should you wish to head out.

Nice resort but appartment not luxury

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment, which was quite big and had two terraces with nice views. The location was very good,just near the main gate. But the interior of the apartment was very old and outdated. Some basic things needed fixing like the kitchen door handle had no screws and fell on the floor when we try to open it, the shower head had mildew on it , all the holes were closed with limscale and mildew. The tv was not working, etc.All of the complaints that we made were dealt with quickly, but when you pay this much money you expect to just move in and enjoy your holidays. Over all our stay was very good. The resort itself was excellent, the views were great, staff were very friendly and helpful. The main pool was always very busy, but thankfully the near by pool was much better and kids loved it. Lots of activities were quite near. Enjoyed every moment of it.

Beautiful resort and relaxation for the whole fami

This was our third time in Pine Cliffs- we last visited in 2012. Despite peak season we had a super relaxing time with every comfort - we loved the beach, the champagne bar, the gym and pool and our 10 year old spent each evening from 5-7pm in the well run junior football club which is now at the end of the resort and has a beautiful new grass pitch. Bliss for each member of our family!

Nice Hotel, very large estate.

The hotel and facilities are good. Its not really 5 star service though, more like 4 star, so still good, but not tops. I noticed this mainly in the restaurants where co-ordination and waiter service was confused and not very slick. Often we would get forgotten and half the meal would arrive or half the drinks ordered.

Wouldn't recommend for the money

We stayed in a townhouse which I was later told that they are privately owned. This resort claims to be 5 star, the room we got was 3 star at best. Stained tatty sofa in the lounge, cheap single beds, tv from the 1980's, a BBQ that was so dirty you would never consider cooking on it

The staff were ok but not particularly helpful and the cleaners looked thoroughly annoyed if you asked them to come back another time

The resort itself has no pavements so walking around with a pushchair was not good. People driving cars at 30mph made it at time dangerous.

The resort has loads of steps, including us having to get to our first floor flat. Considering it advertises as child friendly, it's not really.

The crèche staff were nice but at £20 an hour this isn't cheap!

The restaurants are extremely expensive for 3 star food. They put the price up if breakfast while we were there to 25 euros, with dinner in the region of 55 euros. Very expensive for the quality.

I tried to write to the staff making my feelings clear about the disappointment we experienced on our \"5 star\", which they don't reply to or take a week to reply sometimes.

All in all,for the money,I wouldn't recommend staying here. Try another 5 star resort!

Excellent Hotel with private beach

The Pinecliffs Resort is absolutely beautiful, set in wonderful grounds, numerous walking/running routes, access to a private beach and the choice of 5 swimming pools.

The fitness centres have a choice of the state of the art equipment and are easily accessible.

Numerous choice of eating venues in pleasant surroundings.

The accommodation is spacious and has everything you would need for your stay, including cooking facilities, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer.

Once the works have been completed, there will be even more choice of facilities. Looking forward to the Wellness Centre ,the new restaurants and the additional pool area.

The staff are always helpful and friendly and we have been coming to Pinecliffsc for the past 10 years and always enjoy our stay.
