Wonderful Hotel for families!

This hotel is perfect for families with young children. We especially loved the variety of pools and the engaging kids’ entertainment programs. The pools are shallow enough for beginner swimmers, which made our holiday feel both safe and relaxing.

Stunning resort for families

This hotel is absolutely stunning!!!! Perfect family hotel. Set across 3 big hotel resorts with the most amount of pools I've ever seen. 2 splash parks. The pools are all shallow and so family friendly. We only ate breakfast but was delicious. The apartment was so comfortable and absolutely beautiful. The sofa bed pulls out as 2 separate single beds.

Fantastic hotel due to multiple pool options, restaurants, staff service and cleanliness. Only negative I found was the location. It’s quite a long walk to the beach in the heat and the hotel does not provide sun loungers or umbrellas. The beach can get very crowded so unless you bring your own ‘shade’ then expect to be roasted in the sun.

Beautiful resort property. The resort is large and provides direct private beach access which we really enjoyed. Numerous beautiful pools and a couple restaurants to pick from.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I had read some previous reviews indicating breakfast was chaotic - i didn't find it that bad at all. Staff worked hard to keep the dishes fresh and stocked. Did not try the dinner buffer, but had pizza from the Italian restaurant twice (very good).

Overall, very nice and well kept grounds. Two minor items for improvement - The ropes course was not open (front desk indicated they did not receive their permit for this year) and the shower is due for a renovation.

Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic holiday at the Alfagar alto da colina.
Staff where all very helpful. Especially lovely lady on reception, borrowing us a tiny screwdriver to allow us to get a very unhappy 5 year olds new toy batteries 😊. Aria thanks you. Bar staff were lovely. Very friendly and attentive. The apartments are big and spacious, even the one bedroom we were in. Self catering option, with everything needed to cook basic meals. My only grumble was no freezer, and the tiny ice box in the fridge didnt freeze as no door, so kids couldn't have ice lollies on tap. We did a big shop at the local lidl 6 euro in an uber each way. We had a street view and the most beautiful seaview also. Could see the neighbouring coast line and beach. Very quiet area. A local shop with lovely pastry counter and coffee shop. Also mini Market at sister hotel. Both a short walk away. The kids pool and slides were brilliant. Kept kids happy for many hrs. Plenty of loungers also. Had a lovely stay at the hotel and would recommend it to families and couples wanting a peaceful stay.

It’s our 2nd time staying in the hotel and we love the resort in terms of the availability of entertainment for children (during peek times), the outdoor swimming pool, the ground floor apartment and how accessible it is to the pool.

Few points to improve:

Overall decor of the hotel needs a revamp
We are a family of 5 and there was limited sauce pans and cookware for me.
The Wi-Fi was not great even my 5year old complained
This time around there were a few ants in the kitchen which I was not pleased about
Also think that for the price that it is we should have the basics in the room (coffee, tea, salt etc)
They should also have more entertainment even in off peak times and adjust according to bookings, we stayed in Feb this time around and there was a few children in the resort however they cancelled the parrot show due to the fact that there were not a lot of children in the resort, but there were.

We really like the resort and will probably check in again even out kids love it now, but if things don’t get better we will probably gravitate towards other resorts in the area.

I was a little disappointed with this accomodation. Check in went smoothly. Paid extra to have a waterview room, however there was only a small view over and between other buildings. Was not worth the extra $$ for the view. The room had not been cleaned properly after the previous guests. The kitchen garbage still had the previous guests garbage in it. The outdoor pool looked wonderful, but was not heated enough to swim in. We did not use the indoor pool, as bathing caps were required for entry. We had an army of ants that occupied the bathroom. We killed several every time we used the bathroom. We had trouble with the heat and had to call for service as the room was very cold. The service man came within 45 minutes to fix the issue. This is a small apartment with a kitchen. We did not use these amenities as we were only here for 3 days. We opted for the half board (includes breakfast and dinner). Breakfast was average and dinner was average as well. Nothing that really stood out. Parking was close to the building. In the off season, it seems not much happening. It was a great location to head out from for sightseeing in the area. It would be handy if there had been Kleenx in the room. Also would be handy if there had been USB charging available for devices. This is hotel is showing it's age. It worked for our purposes, but was definately not a luxury stay.

We had a fantastic time at this hotel!! Great for kids as there is a water park included. It was quiet and family friendly. We had breakfast every morning and it was buffet style and it was delicious. When we checked in we got upgraded to a two bedroom apartment instead of a one bedroom. There was great entertainment in the afternoon and nights for kids. The bar food is also delicious. You can also have use of the other aparthotels so there is loads to do. The beach is a 10 min walk and there is a cheap supermarket within a 20 min walk. I really recommend this hotel and we cant wait to go back!! Only a tiny negative, the pools are freezing but once you are in its fine!

Efficient check-in process, ample sunbed availability, and friendly staff contributed to a pleasant experience. While room cleaning was efficient, it could have been more thorough. Over the course of our week-long stay, we noticed that shampoo and bath gel were not replenished, and we had to rely on our own supplies. Despite this minor issue, our overall stay was enjoyable

Our room was very dated and bordering on shabby. Bathroom had tiles broken and grout missing. Shower was hardly useable. Kitchen had no cleaning supplies or cloths to wash the dishes. While we had a beautiful sea view, the music and partying from the bar down below until all hours was a major distraction.

Family hotel that is average in every way. Everything is ok, but nothing special. Pools are colder than the sea during April. Rooms and overall decor a bit dated and tired, but outdoor spaces in decent condition. Entertainment goes on late and is loud, but fun if you like that sort of thing. There is not much else walkable from the hotel but a short drive to some nice places like Olhos D’Agua.

Very poor English. 0 entertainment for the children. Main restaurant Food is awful, seriously awful. Taxi drivers will charge what they feel like charging on the day.
Arrived post lockdown. I understand things are slow taking back off but this wasn’t advised on the website. No evening entertainment. No kids club. No high ropes. No amusement and supermarket was closed so had to use the spar down the road. Hotel is ok for getting your head down and staying out all day/evening. Indoor pool not heated. Outdoor pool ice cold.
Snack bar food ok, little water park the kids enjoyed.

Great family hotel, away from the noise of Albufeira. We were half board and towards the end of the season. There was always a good choice of food the rooms were big if you get an apartment. The ability to use the other facilities in the other parts of the Alfagar “village” was a great plus. Staff were always good. Better if you have a car as well as this is a great base to explore from. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there

Very good budget hotel.

There were some cracked tiles in the bathroom which had a shower curtain rather than screen but other than that it was a nice big room with a good buffet breakfast. The beach is 15 minute walk down a steep hill so you won't be able to carry too much stuff with you on foot.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel isn't in albuferia itself so it is a bit quieter with fewer restaurants in walking distance.
If you are expecting a boutique hotel you might be disappointed but if you have reasonable expectations I definitely recommend it.

Stayed here for a week in August 2019. 2 adults/3 kids. Room was spacious with 2 bedrooms & a large living room with pool and sea view. Room and whole hotel spotlessly clean. 3 pools and plenty of sun beds. Love that kids allowed inflatables in the pool. Only downside was location, a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance but taxi required to the old town. Taxi was about €13 with Uber to the old town.

Wonderful Stay

It was an amazing stay with the best service. We were given details of where to find things around the hotel (with special tips on what to do to make sight seeing easier). Best location- you are in the middle of Lisbon and feel like a local. The room was clean and modern. Definitely a return to when we go back.

Lovely hotel, perfect for familes!

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Great splash pool and playground for the kids. We had a large, clean room with a big balcony. English TV!!! Lots of choices to eat and entertainment. On site supermarket. We could easily have stayed for longer. One thing to note the first building (Colina 1) is better as closer to everything. If you want a quieter stay Colina 2 may be better.

hotel was nice and cleaned. we were out of season so wasn’t very busy in the hotel. everything was brilliant the only one thing was a bit disappointing was food in the restaurant. there were a lot of choices of different food but some weren’t that good. but i would come back to this hotel.

Great stay - plenty of fun things to do

Kids facilities were great. All the family had a great time. Soccer pitches, indoor pool, volleyball etc were great for us. Location is not its strong point but we had a car and that made it easier.

The property is big but updated. The pool water was freezing cold and the indoor pool water was not that warm either. The services in the pool restaurant it was really slow and the food was ok. The breakfast was the same thing every day. The closest beach is like 20 minutes walk on steep hills. It is close to Albufeira and they offer a shuttle that you have to pay to take you to the city. It is a tourist trap everything they offer you have to pay for it, even in a reptile show for the kids they have a photographer and make the kids take pictures with a parrot but do not allow cameras so you have to buy the picture from them.

Only down side was we couldn’t use the outside or inside pool as they where both freezing (although expected for the outside one due to the month we stayed).

Really enjoyed it stay here, although little things like €5 for a large soft drink at the bar were annoying. As well as having to pay extra for a safe in the room and €10 to borrow tennis racquets for an hour. It would have been better if these things were included in the price even if it meant paying more up front as felt a bit ridiculous having to pay.
Lots of pools which were great and even though signs were up to say not to reserve sun beds, people still did. Would be better if this was enforced.

Make sure you get the right room..

We are just back from Alfagar Alto da Colina and it has been a very pleasant stay, the hotel is well maintained, sunbeds arent all gone at 8am (but most by 10am) and its fairly close to a nice beach (nicest beach we went to whilst there).

Just a couple of points:

1) Make sure you get a room in block 1 (floor 3 or 4 best), and with a sea view.. Block 2 is tucked away next to the main road and has no views at all..

2) The food (dinner) was expensive and not very nice.. We went self catering and only had 1 meal in the restaurant.. The cost of the meal+drink was well above what you had to pay for a meal outside the hotel and did not taste very well.. In fact it was probably the worst meal I had whilst in Portgual. B&B might be OK, but not worth it with dinner included.

3) Entertainment.. Pool side entertainment is OK, nice staff, but if you stay for 2 weeks you'd probably have enough as they repeat the same stuff again and again. We didnt see much of the evening entertainment, so cant comment.

Lovely

The hotel was lovely and the resort was huge ! The room itself was quite small but as we was outside all day it didn’t matter too much. The staff was not as happy as I expected they didn’t smile too much. Has a shop on site which is convenient! The food was good and hot also many choices :) the hotel was in a good location to walk to the next town. We loved our little stay here !

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days. We have a toddler and picked this hotel for the facilities and we were very happy overall. The apartment was nice and clean; there is a great kids pool with lots of slides for kids of all ages - as well as a very large (quieter/adult) pool. The water was quite cold but it didn't seen to bother any of the children there. The water and pool area were very clean. There is also a very good playground with a climbing frame and lots of slides all in good condition. Only downside is that there isn't much around the hotel so we had to hire a car to get around; Albufeira is only a 10-min drive though. This is a great hotel if you have young children.
