Convient location to airport. Excellent Thai inspired restaurant and equally excellent bar with great drinks! Rooms are basic at best. Just comfortable enough to rest up in and handle the necessities. Staff are super friendly and very professional and helpful.

This hotel had a lot going for it, and was adequate for our needs, with a great price. Nobody really stays at a hotel this close to a major airport for a vacation. I expect most guests are business or personal travelers who stay for a night either before their flight, or on returning. If that's what you're looking for, it does the job.

We live some hours from Detroit, and used a parking app to stow our car in this hotel's secure lot while we spent 16 days in Europe. Our return trip had six and eight hour layovers in Rome and Istanbul, so after a 40 hour journey we decided to stay here one night to recuperate before driving home. It was a good choice, with some qualifications.
First, the free shuttle departs the hotel only on the hour and half-hour, and must travel between the international and domestic terminals, so, depending on when you arrive at the pickup point, it can take some time to get to to the hotel. The driver is courteous and efficient.

First off I want to say that the staff was great, the airport shuttle runs on a pretty clean schedule and there is a very good Thai restaurant here. That however is about all the good things I have to say about the property. It had a pervasive odor of human waste throughout the lobby and hallways. In the room there was quite a lot of poorly repaired damages to the walls. The room rate for the night we needed was low so I guess we got what we paid for.

Room had a weird smell, front lobby couches had the pleather peeling off, and the security guard at night was half asleep at the front desk. Parked our car there and took shuttle to airport and was told to just call when we got back, had to call 4 times and kept being told he had left already. Called at 10:50 pm was told he would be there by 11. Never showed up till 11:30. Do not rely upon them for their shuttle service getting back.

'Includes Breakfast' was advertised on Expedia, but the hotel decides to charge for breakfast if you booked through a third party. The hotel is simply trying to make up for the commission that they pay. An employee sits at a table and asks for your room # and tells you that you must pay. This is a simple surprise and it's a turn-off. Now they will lose an entire room rate from me in the future over $12.00.
Another example of corporate nickel and diming. I hope my twelve dollars kept the lights on for a few more minutes.

The reception is wonderful and so friendly. The rooms and hotel is Very clean. It is quiet around the hotel property. Parking is plentiful, management and staff are doing a very good job and are friendly. My stay has been nice and peaceful. They do offer breakfast but it is not free with reservation, it is more of a restaurant vibe but it always smells good and the dinning area is nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel. It is older but very well kept and reasonably priced

The Lovely woman that has been checking me in and taking care of extending my reservation is so nice and I enjoy talking with her and fishy helper Rocky. I opted for a queen bed, so cozy and comfortable, No complaints! If I had the King I might just stay in bed all day . As for the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean my room was and quiet. For a hotel of 2 or 3 stars and basic accommodations I was very happy with the cleanliness of my room and the rest of the hotel. For ppl looking for a shuttle I noticed they always have one getting ready to go. This place also as a of times pasted charm to it. All and all very satisfied

The shuttle service was good. The one that picked me up from the airport was a very nice looking black van.(in the dark, outwardly classy looking) It certainly was a false start‼️

I was exhausted, all I wanted was a shower and bed‼️ The bathtub was dirty, the rubber bath mat inside the tub looked like it had never been picked up and cleaned on it and under it⁉️ Needless to say, I did not shower.

When I pulled back the covers, Truly, the sheets looked like they had not been changed‼️
As squeamish as I am, I was too tired to call or go back to the desk ( I was just returning from the death of my close friend ) so I picked one of the three “sofa size” pillows to rest my head on and slept fully clothed on top of the sheets‼️

This experience totally grossed me out‼️‼️‼️

I liked the breakfast menu and the bed was comfortable. Staff was courteous. Unfortunately, the toilet paper dispenser was broken, there was a spider in the tub, and I woke up in the middle of a night to a guest knocking in my door and claiming it was her room. I told her it was the wrong room number.

Hotel was just right for an overnight stay after a 500 mile drive and then an outbound flight at DTW early next morning.
Shuttle was very clean and efficient to get me to McNamara terminal.
If you don’t need ‘bells and whistles ‘ it’s a great deal.

First they wouldn’t give us breakfast in the morning saying I booked through a 3rd party which I’ve never heard of that in my life. I paid $225 for the room $150 Cash deposit all cash transactions. I check out Sunday June 22nd 2025 and they say I owe $30 of cash deposit because of rose pedal marks on the sheets which comes out easily when washed. Just a whole rip off wouldn’t recommend staying at their hotel ever again!! Highly disappointed. And when leaving the front desk clerk older lady got into it with my wife very unprofessional acting as if she was a teenager.

Good afternoon,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to share a recent and very disappointing experience I had during my stay at the Clarion Hotel in Romulus, MI. As someone who has stayed at this location multiple times without issue, I felt it was important to reach out directly before posting a public review on your website and on Hotels.com.

I checked in on Wednesday, May 7th. Upon arrival, Audrey at the front desk provided exceptional service—she was friendly, accommodating, and assisted me with an early check-in. She was the highlight of this stay and deserves recognition.

Unfortunately, things quickly deteriorated on the second day. On Thursday, May 8th, I discovered severe ceiling damage in my room. Pieces of ceramic from the ceiling—likely due to water damage—fell to the floor and into my travel bag, getting onto my clothing. I reported this immediately to the front desk, where a gentleman (possibly a manager) said he would come inspect the room. He never did.

Adding to the concern, I was traveling with a 6-year-old autistic child, and this situation could have posed a safety risk. Despite repeated reports, no one came to clean the debris until late that evening—around 9 or 10 p.m.—after we had already put the child to bed. A maintenance worker briefly looked at the ceiling, acknowledged the damage, and said he’d return to clean up. He never did. The room was never cleaned, no one followed up, and the issue remained unresolved for the duration.

One glitch

The price was right, it was nice that it has a grill and bar on the site, and a convenience store very close. Clean and friendly. Only trouble is their policy not to give people who use Hotels.com or other online reservation the free breakfast. The guy at the desk waived the policy for me, but I think it’s a bad policy that could give them less than perfect reviews.

We needed a place close to the airport, and the hotel served that purpose. We were very disappointed to find out that the restaurant they promote had select hours and the lounge was not open. Having both on the premises was a reason we choose the hotel. The BIGGEST disappointment was the bathroom in our room. With the shower curtain hiding the full view if the shower head, it wasn't until the morning, we found out we needed to hold the handheld shower head in order to take a shower. We were able to make it work, but VERY inconvenient when you are looking forward to a nice hot shower. The combination of of the bathroom, the lounge, and the restaurant mad the visit disappointing.

The staff is great; very friendly and attentive. The lobby area looks nice along with the bar and dining area. But, when you reach the hallway to access the rooms, you see that it's run down and dirty. Once in the room, everything was outdated and the room was dirty. Several minutes into my stay, I noticed a roach crawling on the TV remote.

Check-in went as smooth as could be given the number of guests checking in at the same time. Staff seems friendly although only providing short answers with limited necessary information being provided. The room was clean and comfortable upon arrival. We asked for additional pillows but they never arrived. We needed to do some laundry and asked the front desk where the laundry was located. We were given a brief direction including that it was at the opposite end of the property. Once arrived at the location, we learned that a pin was required to enter the room. Had to walk back to the front desk to ask. FYI.. one needs about $13 to do a full load as the dryer takes at least 2 cycles to dry. In addition one must also pay for detergent and fabric softener. After doing laundry we wanted to take a swim but learned the pool closes at 9. Was just as well though because the pool looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. Overall, I wouldn’t avoid the hotel but for the price, I might look at other options.

Our issue — the first room had plumbing issues, so we had to change rooms. We then had to also move out of the second room because the neighbors were indulging in extracurriculars and our room was filled with the smell of it. Not the hotels fault, but still a pain do deal with. Staff was great and quick with moving our rooms.

While the hotel service was excellent, they do not accept reservations from Hotel.com. This was apparently something needed to be worked out with the site. My problem was with the app, not the hotel. Newer bathrooms, but rooms need to be remodeled. Bed was very firm, and the bathroom was clean.

I didn't even stay more than a hour!!! It was smelly dirty and they wouldn't give me a refund because they DON'T let you see the room which is fine. But it looked NOTHING like the pictures. The first room I was in the curtains wouldn't close and it smelled bad the second room I was in the microwave didn't work and smelled bad then when I tried to order some food they told me that on the day that I booked my room is when the restaurant decided to no longer affiliate themselves with the hotel.... I will not recommend anybody to waste their money here unless you are okay with a whole bunch of air fresheners being around to cover up the odor!
