The staff at the counter were very nice and accommodating, everything else was “lipstick on a pig” unfortunately. The whole hotel could use quite a bit of TLC, from the facilities to the rooms. Lobby furniture is all stained and deep cleaning clearly had not been done in some time. The gym was small and limited, I wouldn’t have a problem with this if it weren’t for missing dumbbell weights and a treadmill that stuttered and wasn’t smooth at all, take caution for injuries. The pool was very small, it was nice when no one was in it but the moment you had anyone else in there, it gets unbearably loud so don’t let the pool be a deciding factor. The rooms could use a facelift, the carpets are filthy and the comforters were stained and contained hairs, the faucets and shower hardware are all loose. The breakfast, eat whatever is made fresh, otherwise it’s a gamble with dry and hard food that isn’t replaced. Wouldn’t stay here again, I’d spend a little extra and find somewhere updated and cleaner.

Overall the hotel seemed decent, our room (suite) however had much to be desired for cleanliness. Every hard surface (table, floor) had either crumbs or something dried onto it. These things weren't just \"overlooked\" but rather clearly ignored as they could have been easily scrubbed a little harder or just paid more attention to.

The bathroom had a lot mold on the showerhead. I had to wipe it off before taking a shower. When we left they did not provide our bill receipt. They said Hotels.com has to provide it since we booked with you. Hotels.com has not provided our receipt.

Apparently the staff programmed the customers door key wrong and they were able to open my room door. After speaking with the manager, I was told that I would receive 5,000 points to my account (basically a free room), and I have yet to receive any points.

AC was blowing a moldy mildew smell

Location was good for us, close to our business meetings. Stayed 3 nights but don’t think we would stay again. I have a mold sensitivity and had to turn the AC off even though it was 80 degrees out because the moldy mildew smell was greatly aggravating my health and sinuses.

The hotel and room was fine/normal. The gentleman at the front desk Thursday was very lovely and helpful - appreciated nice staff

Don't stay here, it's dirty

This place is dirty. Carpet in hallway and room was not vacuumed and very worn. Stains on the walls, finger nail clippings around the trash can in our room when we checked in. Hair on the sheets. (I bring my own). If I had known this is the type of hotel that charges a $150 hold on your cc on top of the room charge instead of just keeping it on file that would have been an indication of the type of place this is. The 2 forms you have to sign upon check in about not being allowed guest in the room or who can use the pool were also indicators of the type of place this is. Oh and the police showed up after the fire alarm went off in one of the rooms for over an hour early Monday morning. Don't stay here

Had to wait 15 mins for someone at the front desk to serve me. When I went upstairs the key wouldn’t work. I told the front desk and he said our key machine is broken. I said how are we going to get in and out of this room he said, “I’m sitting by the front desk”. The mini fridge wasn’t working, I had goods that almost spoilt because of it. The bed sheets also smelt really bad too. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

The entire management is terrible. They lie and threaten to call the cops on children enjoying the pool. They were upset that the kids splashed water on the floor of the pool. That's right, the floor. These people are rude and the general condition of the hotel is not good. Towel bars falling off the wall, no room cleaning or change of linens between multiple night stays. Maintenance guy randomly walked into the room unannounced and univited. Bad experience all around. Avoid this place.

Spent three nights at this location. The bed was comfortable and the location worked well, just off of Michigan Avenue and telegraph Road, but the overall experience was very average. The front desk personnel weren’t always helpful, one night my room key wouldn’t work and I had yo find management with a master key and the breakfast was decent on one occasion and subpar on the other. On the third morning, I skipped it and went out to breakfast myself. Overall, Very basic but adequate.

When I booked, I had chosen to pay when I arrived. Between the time we reserved and when we arrived, we had to cancel our original CC and get a new one. I was expecting to just pay with our new card when we got there. However, when we arrived, I found they had earlier in the day run our card and then canceled our reservation because that card was not good. They did not call us, they did not text just, they did not email us, they just canceled. Why run the card before we even get there? They went on to say they were all booked up so they could not honor the original quote but could book us for over twice the original price. How can you be booked up but be able to offer a room at over twice the price? Sounds like a scam to force people into more costly rooms when they start filling up. During the clerk's conversation with the manager, it was clear they had done this to several other people just that day. Needless to say, we did not stay there.

It was a terrible experience.
The first rokm that I aas given had issue with bathroom drain.
They offered me a different room after couple of hours of complains.
Had to go down to front desk personally as they must be busy and did not pick up the phone!
The replacement room they offered had very bad odour ,it became really storng when we turned ON the heater.
Kids started snizzing!
I had to open the window! ( it was a bit cold out side!)
The room service offered me to change room again at midnight!! Which I declined as I had no enerfy to move again with kids and alk luggage!

The hotel refused to do any refund and hotels.com only did $50 coupon!

I had paid around 300 for the room.
It was a wate of money and a terrible experience!

Not the best of rooms, not the worst of rooms

This hotel was not up to the usual quality of this chain. On the positives the staff were excellent, the breakfast was good and well stocked, the bed was comfortable.
However the room was beat up. Marks all over the walls, peeling paint, worn out carpet, beat up furnishings. At first I couldn't tell if it was dirty or just looked dirty because of the poor condition but on closer inspection it was kinda dirty in the room. I am by no means super judgy about this so if I noticed it's not good. The lobby and community areas did appear cleaner. The hotel was also very loud. There were what appeared to be kids sports teams in the hotel lacking any adult supervision. They were beating on the service bell at the desk, yelling and running around. Finally around 1 am an adult came and got them. I got the impression teams come to this hotel a lot and act up. The security deposit on the credit card was double what it is at other hotels I have stayed at and the clerk indicated the kids trashing the rooms is why they put that in place.
It doesn't list this on the room amenities but the room did have a microwave.

Kids running all over, dogs barking, slamming doors that jolted you from your bed! We didn't get any sleep! This went on until at least 3 AM! Called desk about 2 am nothing changed with noice levels!
We will NOT stay here again and will think twice about any Holiday Inn!

Everything smelled like weed from other guests. There was food crumbs and pieces in the bathroom stuck to the sink and alarm clock in the room. Water streaks in the bathroom on the walls running down by the toilet and behind the door. Broken spots of the wall behind the door. And crayon writing on the walls. I was with my children for New Year’s Eve I brought the room a week in advance . Paid in full only had to pay for deposit which I called a few days earlier to see the price of it which they told me 100 . I went up hotel the boy told me because it’s new year eve the deposit would be 500 . Doesn’t matter what no one told me pay the 500 or leave is exactly how he handled me . Ruined our new years and lost 139 I will NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN AND AMANDA THEIR ATAFD AT THIS HOTEL IS TERRIBLE THE WORST ESTABLISHMENT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH TRULY

It was a decent stay for the average amount paid. We stayed one night after going to a hockey game in downtown Detroit. The sheets were clean, TV worked and breakfast was OK. It's not like their competitor's hotel, which might be a little newer looking or having a better breakfast but for the price, it wasn't bad.
