I recently had the pleasure of staying in a room that was both clean and tranquil. Its convenient location, in close proximity to the old city and the center, made it an ideal choice for exploring the area. The room benefited from an abundance of natural light streaming in through the windows. I highly recommend this accommodation for the price offered.

A small but comfortable room! Great if you have a short stay in Lisbon. The building is in a very walkable location, not quite in the main city center but not too far away either. The two things that we noticed was that the walls are a little thin and the bathroom was very small, again, fine if it's just for a few days but if you are staying longer you may want something with a little more room.

Only book this room if your a short person

Warning the shower is in a cupboard under the stairs. Booking process and communication ahead of the stay was good. However when we arrived we were very disappointed. The en suite bathroom ceiling is 1.7m high - this was mentioned nowhere on the listing when booking. However there is a sign in the room. I wasn’t able to stand up straight in the bathroom I’m a very average 6ft tall (1.8m). This made using the bathroom extremely difficult and I banged my head on this several times. The room was tiny with no windows, but that was expected for the price. Had to store cases under the bed to have room to walk around the bed, that’s when we realised that under the bed was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. The room is on a shared corridor and entry to each room is through an electronic key pad, meaning that other guests coming in late make several loud heaping noises as they key in an 8 didget code - this should really be silent. If you are unable to stand up in the bathroom this really needs to be listed on the description.

The room was clean and tidy and enough for a single person. The shower is a little small but still good. Walls are a little thin as you can hear the other guests that are near the room. Still a great room and close enough walk to the centre of town.

The location was great. Small space but definitely worked for two people. Check in was super easy and the host let you know all the details before arriving. The A/C was the only thing that wasn’t working properly but wasn’t something I couldn’t take.

The room was very small, no place for the luggages and the private bathroom was juste a shower in the room. We waited a very long time before we could enter the place. An AI bot told us how to access keys to our rooms because the codes to unlock the door never worked and the staff was unreachable.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE! We arrived around 12:40am (check-in available until 1am) after a late flight and delays at passport control. The self check-in was unclear—stressful in a new country so late. We messaged via WhatsApp to confirm our room number, and they replied quickly.

But the room was filthy. The bed was clearly used, linens unchanged, trash overflowing, dirty dishes out. We messaged again and were pushed into a chatbot loop saying, “this issue has been reported.” No help. No human response.

We called Expedia, who contacted the hotel—only for the hotel to hang up on them. They refused to help, saying it was “too late,” despite us contacting them before the check-in window closed.

By 2:30am, exhausted and stuck, we had to sleep in a dirty bed. It felt unsafe and disgusting. The next morning, they claimed it was a “misunderstanding” and we were in the wrong room—even though they confirmed that exact room the night before. The “correct” room was tiny. It felt like they squeezed a bed, shower, toilet, and sink into what should’ve been a storage closet.

We lost half a day of our trip trying to resolve this before moving to a new hotel just to feel comfortable. The hotel failed on every level—cleanliness, service, and basic hospitality.

Do not book here. No matter how good the price may seem or how good the photos look, it is absolutely not worth the risk.

Location is great, near to metro station and center. There is a nice place to have coffee not far from the place, just 5 min, as well as supermarket. The only minus - there is no elevator.

The hosts at the property are super friendly and helpful. They are always available when needed via phone call. Even after my departure I had forgotten some important documentation papers in my room and the hosts contacted me directly to make arrangements with me to send it back to me. I really appreciate this service as it proves once again the good heart of the hosts and how trustful they are. I will surely pay a visit again in the future🥰☺️👍

We had an amazing stay at this property! The room was impeccably clean, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the amenities were top-notch. The only drawback was the limited parking nearby, which was a bit inconvenient. Despite that, I highly recommend this wonderful property for a fantastic overall experience!

Ive sent several emails with pictures showing the unsafe room conditions at the 1898 suites. I was unable to stay in the room since the lock on the second door did not work and only had a wood bench to cover the entrance which I did not feel safe with. I have video footage as well if you need to review any further documentation. sent a couple emails to Orbitz with pictures and videos and I am still awaiting my refund...

My stay was horrible. The room looked nothing like the pictures. There was a fake window that shone light into my room from another room. I could not stand in the bathroom. The shower had no hot water. The air conditioner did not work. There was no headboard on the bed and the wall was covered in guck

Bad experience. Definitely won't stay here again.
The place claims to be a \"hotel\" and we booked it because it said it had a front desk and also had a luggage care service. However, the place is actually a huge apartment converted into a \"hotel\" and there is never anyone inside the facilities to provide a kind of front desk and the suitcases were actually left in the living room of the place, without any care and vulnerable for any guest to take them or open them.
During the time I stayed, the main door lost power and we couldn't get in. That day we called by phone, wrote by WhatsApp and contacted the \"hotel\" by Expedia and received no response. It wasn't until the next day that they wrote us an apology. That day we entered thanks to other guests who knew that there was a key under the mat. (extremely insecure)
The room is too uncomfortable and the photographs are obviously professional and show the place much more beautiful than it is. But for the price we were paying we didn't give it any importance. However, it is important to know that it is not possible to have an open suitcase in the room floor, you can only open your suitcase if you place it on the bed. It is really very small, to the point of being very uncomfortable.

We booked the double economy room... beware. It is absolutely nothing like advertised. There was no room for our small cases let alone the 2 of us. The pillows were cushions and the “private bathroom” was toilet in the shower, in the room. No privacy from the other person whatsoever and it was filthy.
We requested to upgrade to another room which was done so with ease. However the second room we entered had not been cleaned. There were hairs all through the linen, on the shower floor, walls, the towels were hung up but stained and the soap from the previous person was still in the basin. We requested to move but not before having to take photos and send to the manager to prove the filth. He agreed and allowed us to move once again but we were then told we could only stay in that room 3 of our booked 4 nights and had to pay a €25 cleaning fee! What exactly the cleaning fee is for we aren’t sure?? We tried to discuss this and come to another arrangement but the manager would not oblige. We were so upset, it definitely impacted our stay. Sure enough, on the final night we had to pack up and move to another shoebox sized room with dirty towels. How this place has such good reviews I will never know but all I can do is recommend you look at other places in Lisbon before booking here. For the price, it was an absolutely terrible experience. Never ever again.

The property itself is like a bed and breakfast, with the room being just large enough a bed and attached bathroom. It was a bit cramped and the bathroom was obviously added after the place was built, so it had a very low ceiling and a small shower. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were sufficient. Air conditioning in the room made it quite a comfortable environment as well.
Given the small room space and lack of windows (in my room anyway), I felt that it was a bit overpriced.

The property is located about a 20 minute walk from the main city centre and the surrounding area is a multicultural one, offering a range of restaurant options. A metro station is very close, giving the ability to easily travel around the city or to the main train station and airport.

Cheap and OK choice for tourism

Small and a little bit smelly room. Ok for sleeping, hotel near the city center (walkable). Check in/out was excellent and convenient, the hostess extremely helpful and polite! The private bathroom was really small and with no this much privacy feeling. I would recommend this room only if you visit the city for tourism and you're just going to spend several hours in and of course the night! Overall, I was happy with it!

I liked it. The room was very clean and quite. It’s very close to Lisbon heartbeat. The castle and the beach are just walking distance. Many good restaurants and super markets are just 2 min walk. Marco was a very nice guy and he makes your stay easy and comfy.

We had a lovely stay here. Can catch the metro from the airport, the journey is quick around 20-30mins. The guesthouse is a few minutes from the metro station, good quick transport links into town and places to eat walking distance. The lidl is walking distance too.

I would recommend if you looking for a nice quiet place to rest your head between activities in lisboa.

Our double room was quite small but clean and tidy. The flat as a whole is homely and clean. Marco was lovely and approachable.

Intedente the cloest metro station is less than a 5 min walk from the station.

There is also a lovely little square near the hotel, which has cafes and restaurant and very reasonably priced.

The staff were very friendly and accomodating as we checked in around midnight and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel after we checked out. The room was small but very tidy and clean. The place is ideal for a short city break and there is a Lidl 5 min walk from the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel recently, and overall it’s a nice place, but more suitable for short stays rather than a full vacation. It provides what you need — nothing more, nothing less.

Towels and soap were replaced every three days, which I found a bit too infrequent; every other day would have been much better. There’s no daily cleaning or bed-making service during the stay, which is something to be aware of.

There’s a shared living room and kitchen available, but no breakfast is offered. On the positive side, the location is excellent — very central and convenient for getting around the city.

All in all, it’s a good option if you’re looking for a simple, centrally located place for a few nights.

The room was uninspiring but fine. What really got on my nerves was the filthy balcony with slot of bird poop everywhere, we literally had to cover out seats with plastic bags to not sit on bird crap.
The breakfast was so not worth it if your vegan, vegetarian or on a gluten-free diet. for 7€ per person we got some cornflakes, one bread, one stick of butter, some chess and ham.
The neighbourhood was okay, alot of trash and homeless people near the main street. Alot of very good indo-pakistani food and subway station near the hotel was the only positive thing.

Location is nice- close to metro and tram. However, the conditions are not so good, at least for the price you pay. There is no wordrobe, so all the clothes you need to put it either in one small table or in suitcase.
Bathroom even smaller. Poor breakfast.
Also, it was clean but there’s a weird smell in the common areas, I couldn’t explain.

Guesthouse super agradável!

O apartamento é incrível! Peguei um apartamento com sacada e banheiro privativo e é simplesmente perfeito! Estava tudo muito limpo e cheiroso. Existe uma cozinha e uma sala de uso compartilhado que é linda e tbm muito limpa. Já queria morar lá haha! De maneira geral, o lugar é excepcional e fica pertinho de uma estação de metrô. Ficaria novamente e indico pra outras pessoas.

Home suites 1898 no es un hotel y super incomodo

El hotel tiene una calificacion de booking de 8.8 no es lo que parece las habitaciones super pequeñas, el baño es minimo no tiene closet, ni tv en la habitacion, la ventana de mi habitacion la numero 8 no podia abrirla ninguna de las 2 ventanas y la puerta para salir al balcon se me quedo en la mano, lo unico positivo del hotel es que la señora que es la encargada es muy amable pero no vale la pena hospedarse es muy caro para lo que es el hotel y no es hotel
