Hotel is extremely chic and cute. Gabriel at the front desk is amazing, such a warm welcoming spirit. My flight arrived early than scheduled and they were able to allow me to check in early. I highly recommend booking for your next stay. I’m definitely returning in the summer to experience their pool.

The room was very spacious, there was plenty of space for 2 people to stay. The amenities provided were very nice - towels, robes, a kettle, coffee machine, plates, a fridge and even a microwave!!! The staff were all so lovely and responded very quickly to any of our questions or requests.

Our room was clean and spacious. There were coffee and tea making facilities. There was a small fridge and microwave and dishes in the cupboard. Bottle is drinking water was replaced daily.
While the mattress was comfortable the bed frame is a little low for my aching knees. The frame was also a bit creaky.
This hotel was well located, close to transit and dining. It is on a one way side street that was quiet at night. While the neighbours across the alleyway got a little loud that didn't last long. The adults only policy also helped. The decor in the hotel reflected that policy with prints and artwork of an adult nature.
The staff were very helpful about arranging taxis and giving us directions.

The breakfast is minimal but more ‘convenient’ to start the day, we were given time slots

The amenities are very handy as well, such as the jacuzzi/pool which would be good for summer

The room was EXTREMELY clean and had little hidden gems like a mini stove and a sink

Love this stay here.

In regards to the location it can seem a little dodgy at night but we have had no problem

The property is pretty amazing. The hotel is not too big, small number of rooms per floor, LOVED that it’s adults only. The staff was very helpful and nice. Front desk staffer Gabriel was so hospitable and provided us with great tips. Solange in the dining area was extra nice and hustled every morning to make sure breakfast was perfect! Very pleased with the hotel and its staff, who were extremely accommodating in any passing conversation or request and very communicative generally, both in-person and over text message.

Pros: Although there are numerous pros to this property, some of the standout features include the pool, the hotel's quiet ambiance, the cleanliness of the room, and the boutique feel of the lobby. Again, I can't stress enough how communicative and friendly the Front Desk staff was. The hospitality group that owns this hotel needs to do as much as it can to retain the staff that they have hired. The staff would be a valuable asset anywhere else, and they make this property such a fantastic place to stay.

Cons: The only 2 things that I can ask to be improved are the shelving or counter surface area in the bathroom for you to lay out toiletries. Also, I drink a lot of water and would request a few bottles of water per day, as they only have one refillable bottle per room (intentionally), and I feel like it would be less annoying for the room service staff to keep running upstairs to get the empty bottle and swap it out with a full one.

Lovely hotel, not the best location

The hotel itself is lovely, very quirky in terms of decoration but everything looks lovely and is very modern. The bathrooms are gorgeous and always very clean. The rooms are also very quiet, we couldn’t hear any outside noise from nearby roads etc. The courtyard with the plunge pool is a very peaceful oasis in the middle of Lisbon which was lovely to unwind in. The staff were great and very helpful.

The location was perfect to be slightly outside of the hustle and bustle whilst still walkable into the city. The only downside (which is not the hotels fault) was there were quite a few people who sat opposite the hotel on the pavement every day for most of the day, some of which I saw using drugs. They were never noisy and kept themselves to themselves entirely and would just calmly sit there and chat amongst each other, we never felt unsafe but I wouldn’t have wanted to walk back to the hotel on my own. It is a shame as the hotel itself is great.

We had an amazing time here for Euro Pride 2025. The hotel is very welcoming and has an amazing friendly staff. While outside of the city center the hotel is located very near the metro which made is easy to get around and there are some great dining options nearby. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Lisbon.

We stayed for 2 nights and were very comfortable. It doesn't lack for personality and I'd say it was strictly appropriate for over 18s. Vibrant decor and friendly staff!

Location wise it's very close to the Metro however it can feel a bit off-the-beaten-path late on as it's just behind the main road.

Location 10-15 minutes walk to centre, felt safe and always lots of tourist around. Great coffee shop around the corner and of course the amazing Cervejaria Ramiro within walking distance - one of the best seafood restaurant in Lisbon.

Upon Angels is a wonderful boutique hotel with creative edgy decor (think Hogarth, Beardsley, burlesque, revue) and fabulous caring staff - front of house, breakfast room and cleaners, but especially Ines on reception. We loved that the staff uniforms continued the vibrant theming. Everyone is welcome from the moment you arrive to the time you leave and there's a great feeling of inclusiveness. The rooms continue the 'naughty' theme and are clean, well equipped (though maybe needs another bedside unit & stool for hair-drying). Beds are very comfortable with high standard linen & pillows. A/C is good and showers excellent. Options for environmentally aware cleaning are available, The breakfast room is small and expect to eat in slots but we had no problems. There's a courtyard area with a large jacuzzi/plunge pool though I didn't use it as I had a chest infection. The hotel stages live entertainment too such as films. Some people have worried about the surrounding area but I can't say we felt threatened, more sad for those less privileged. It's great for public transport though Intendente Metro exits are confusing! Check out nearby Infame for cocktails. Ask reception for restaurant recommendations. We look forward to a second visit!

The only bad thing was presence of the dubious (drugs using) characters that were sitting/sleeping on the pavement opposite the hotel. Even though they kept themselves to themselves but, as a lone traveller, their presence and open drug use, made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to respond—someone came right away when I couldn’t figure out the shower. I appreciated the hotel’s sustainability efforts, like encouraging towel reuse, optional housekeeping, etc. Rooms look exactly like the photos, and it’s easy to request things via QR code or WhatsApp.

However, the bathrobes were very small and not practical for most adults. A bigger issue was a recurring sewer smell in the bathroom, even after switching rooms. It seemed to come from a floor drain near the toilet and would come and go throughout the day.

The biggest downside was the thin walls. I could clearly hear neighbors—conversations, footsteps, and more—especially on the first night. It was slightly better after moving rooms, but still noticeable.

Overall, an okay stay, but the noise and bathroom smell were hard to ignore.

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was absolutely amazing, it was such a cool vibe and the decor throughout was really pretty. The location was great as it was a bit more off the beaten track so was less busy than the city centre, but still only a 10min walk from Alfama the old town and a 25min walk to the city centre. There is also a metro stop 2mins away which gets you to the centre in 15mins.

The staff were all so friendly and helpful, always happy to provide recommendations and support in any way they could. Most of our stay we spoke with Ines at reception and she was so lovely!

The we had the premium which room was really spacious, with USB plugs so you dont need adapters, plus cultery, crockery, a microwave and a fridge so after a long day out you can happily eat in (there is a big lidl a few mins away and loads of uber eats options). The room also had a balcony overlooking an internal courtyard where the pool is. The courtyard was also a nice place for a cocktail before heading out into town.

Would definitely come back to stay here :)

Fantastic stay made better with possibly the friendliest staff I’ve had at a hotel, they are happy to help with recommendations for restaurants, so please make sure you do this if unsure.

Location of Upon is good to use as a base to get around - you have a supermarket within a 5 minute walk. Rooms are clean, tidy, spacious, certainly needed when you are going as couple.

Bathroom is a good size too. Overall enjoyed our stay and will happily come back again.

We reserved our stay thru Expedia from the USA. We arrived finding the staff is very helpful. It was our first visit in Lisbon and we had various questions which they were able to answer.
In big hotels you are just a number. Upon Angels is a smaller boutique hotel where you get the all attention you need.
The cleanliness in our room & bathroom was absolutely remarkable!!
We had breakfast in house and were impressed with the variety and quality of the breakfast buffet!
We'll be happy to refer any friends or family to Upon Angels Hotel.

The decor was amazing. The staff was always on site for you. There were VERY noisey Canadian guest in the pool upon arrival. Front desk staff took care of them. Outside of it taking 4 request to 3 different staff, we finally got more towles...the following day. Everything else was perfect. We would stay there again for sure. The vibe, decor and amenities are well worth it. The neighbourhood is close to a not so safe area but once in a cab you're fine.

The rooms (we were upgraded after our first night) were spacious and we got a kick out of the eclectic and risqué decor! Sadly, we primarily picked this hotel due to their ‘fabulous looking and very favorably commented on by prior guests’ outdoor huge hot tub … but it was ice cold and, remarkably, we were told by the front desk representatives that it was not possible to heat it up! Well, needless to say, we were very disappointed, and said as much. In return, to the hotel’s credit, we were upgraded to a larger room with an ‘interesting’ in-room circular tub, that we did then enjoy during the rest of our stay. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant and the breakfasts were absolutely FABULOUS! I would recommend this hotel to others, just beware that the hot tub should not be counted on as part of your stay.

The hotel was very clean and was a nice property, however the hot tub was not working and unfortunately that was not communicated to us upon arrival, We also later learned that the area around the hotel was not clean due to a strike from sanitation workers, so I am not sure how rings are around the area at other times. In all, although we were not satisfied, the hotel staff refunded us a portion of our stay and were very hospitable.

Stayed for almost a month and the staff were absolutely amazing. Truly kind people. The room was fantastic—I booked a premium studio and the bathtub was my favorite aspect, I used it every day. They have breakfast and snack options and there are so many great food places close by. There are also a convenience store, atm, and self service laundry to each side. I had a great first time in Lisbon and Upon Angels was integral to that experience.

Very pleasant staff. FYI the poo/whirlpool is not warm & not always open. Jets good.
Our room ok but directly facing windows & within feet of another building, no sunlight. Couldn’t for most part open curtains.
Bed comfortable, toiletries ✔️& good towels. Microwave & frig, some Dishes & glasses, could warm up food. Place for dining in for breakfast. Good Italian restaurant a few minutes walk. Laundromat beside hotel. Grocery store also easy walk. Rossio metro 15 min walk & Rossio train stn not far from this. Area is ok, we had no problems, it is not touristy. Some nights in our room heard voice noise from street/Alleyway (didn’t last much beyond midnight.
Liked that walking home didn’t involve major stairs & if so was generally a climb down. Lisbon was surprisingly very busy.

We stay three nights from 10/8/2024 to 10/11/2024. It is over rated hotel. Room is clean but it did not have any drawers and it has no place to put cup & brush in the bathroom. Location is not that impressive. Front desk receptionists are not friendly. We are suppose to have a bottle of sparking wine for each room per stay but we did not receive.

Lovely hotel with beautiful, stylish rooms. The staff are really friendly and helpful with great English, and the jacuzzi courtyard is pure luxury. Especially since you can get drinks delivered to you there with the handy QR codes!

However, please be aware that this area is NOT safe for women at night. This is the one thing I wish I had known in advance, as unfortunately we had some bad experiences being followed and harassed by men on the street. Get Ubers after dark, they're cheap.

A really nice hotel well situated 12 mins walk from the main centre. A plus is that it’s not on a hill (you’ll understand why after visiting Lisbon and very close to the Metro at Intendente). A couple of nice restaurants are very close by and I’d recommend the Portuguese/ Italian just as you walk onto Avenida Almirante Reis.
Room is funky inc bathroom but little space for toiletries?
Breakfast is good but on my first morning I wasn’t offered the cooked breakfast and on another day the scrambled eggs were stone cold! Ask for your breakfast to be freshly cooked?
On arrival, the lift wasn’t working but was soon repaired. Take care on the stairs which I thought was quite dimly lit.
After unpacking my case, I had some creased shirts and asked for the loan of a clothes iron. But was told on two occasions, it was with other guests. I was given a clothes steamer but this didn’t work. Needless to say, I didn’t bother asking a third time for the iron.
Staff always smiled and pleasantly greeted you. The male member of staff who did the breakfasts was so nice and friendly! He was really attentive and looked after everyone.
The outside area is quiet and cool if you want some time out to read or just admire the fab mural!
Taxi to the airport… book on the Uber app for under €10. I had emails from the hotel offering a taxi for €31… guess which I booked arrived at the door in 2 minutes!
Would I go back? Yes. Why? Location, funky interior, cleanliness, no kids, staff member at breakfast!

Comfy but noisy

Amazing front desk staff, well designed room but incredibly noisy. Walls are paper thin and you’ll be able to hear the cleaning staff next door from 9am. Location is walking distance to sights but immediate area not the best.

We loved our stay at Upon Angels from the moment we walked through the doors. The staff were friendly and helpful, the check-in was super quick and easy, the hotel was chic and beautifully decorated, the room was fantastic and had a balcony, the coffee machine was easy to use, the toiletries smelt great and the bed was big and comfortable.

This property was absolutely amazing! The room was gorgeous and a great size. The staff was so friendly and available 24 hours a day to answer any questions or concerns. The courtyard area with the pool was the best relaxing spot to take a break from the busy city. Overall this place was a 10/10. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Lisbon. The daily breakfast was great start to my busy days. I loved that the rooms all had microwaves and fridge and there is even a small sink and hot plate on top of the counter where the coffee machine is. You just have to lift the top. Overall such a great place to stay. The bar was amazing also!

Our first room had issues— TV didn’t work, outlets didn’t work, smelled like smoke, no hot water in the shower. We asked for a different room and they immediately switched us to a better one. Everything was great after that, they even surprised me with a little cake on my birthday. There are a bunch of great restaurants and bars nearby, a Metro station right around the corner, a little market steps away, and it was super easy to get to other neighborhoods. Great launchpad for adventures!

I enjoyed my stay at Upon Angels quite a bit. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is small and comfortable, something I appreciate since I didn't have to navigate a large and complicated building. The decor is classy but sugestive, great for couples!
