Lovely premier room with bath, shower, sofa and really comfy large bed!
Breakfast in the restaurant was really nice and they offered a complementary drink.
They also refunded the money we paid for parking in their car park. We didn’t know how this worked beforehand.

First time stopping in Melbourne, we were given a cottage room over the road from the pub, it had a lovely little kitchen area which was a bonus with a large fridge freezer, the room was cosy and well furnished, and even had a small courtyard out from the back door, a great spot for breakfast

Poor for the money paid

Stayed in one of the rooms across the street from the main hotel. Room was very tight for space, small flatscreen tv on the wall was just in the way, bathroom tiny, toilet seat didn’t fit and moved when sat on, toilet roll rough and cheap, no toilet brush, carpet dirty and in need of a wash, bedside light not working, unable to open up electric window blind to allow light in.
This room cost £120 for the night without breakfast. For the price and location, I feel they should charge no more than £70.
Only real positive was the bar and patio area. So disappointing.

Although the room was clean, it was noisy and cold during the night. We stayed in room eight across from Harpurs hotel in the old building. Only one chair provided to sit and have a cup of tea. Breakfast was dear at £15pp on top of our hotel stay. !!!!!!! Would not stay there again.

Both rooms were very nice and spacious and clean
We had a room over from the pub and was faultless while our friends had a room in the pub itself the only downside was the fact the heating wasn’t working and the staff couldn’t fix it so as you can imagine minus temperature outside and no heating inside they went downstairs to ask for help but the issue couldn’t be fixed
Apart from that everything was fine and it wouldn’t put us off from staying there again

Good but expensive considering some of the faults

I had a good stay but was surprised to be led to a terrace of cottages, albeit very cute, across the road for my stay. Nowhere in any literature did it mention this. I was on the ground floor, the room was lovely with a little kitchenette and a bathroom. It was fitted out very well.
I had planned to get room service that evening but this was not an option. I know that I could have gone out but as a solo traveller I didn’t want to do this.
I just had a couple of niggles which I felt for the price I paid should’ve been better;
A loose toilet seat.
Cheap lumpy pillows, the bed was lovely but the pillows were so uncomfortable!
Every time someone came in or out of the front door, my door rattled loudly as it was right next to the front door.

I am sure we will stay again and the lesson I have learned is that I will ask if we can avoid certain tables in the restaurant.

Lovely little village, the hotel was lovely and comfortable and very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. It did get a bit noisy in the evening as the rooms are above the pub, but once it closed it was very quiet. Would definitely stay again.

A friend and I stayed at the hotel whilst attending the British Super Bikes weekend at Donington race track.
I was in a room away from the main hotel which like a small apartment and it was very good.
My friend stayed in the hotel and the room as very good but the water for the shower was intermittent.

Nice pub, and hotel good central location.
The maid service were very noisy, check out is 10am, and check in is only 2pm onwards so 4 hours to clean 4-5 rooms.
Was very noisy from 7am onwards felt like cleaners were actually in the room with us, very uncomfortable feeling and couldnt relax. Heard all their conversations every. Detail.

We didn’t actually stop at the hotel but in one of the rooms in the cottage across the road. Was beautifully and obviously recently decorated and there was everything we needed for a great stay. The breakfast was extra but was absolutely fantastic. the weather was awful so we amused ourselves in the local bars and restaurants

Harpur`s a self assured gem, not at all hidden.

Our room was excellent and spacious; seating area alternative to lying on bed to watch TV. All the facilities were in order, ironing Board & hairdryer etc. The bed in Room 4 was too high and soft.
Food was superb, the staff were quite aloof but very informed about the menu.

Room was just ok - shower trickled out water and saniflow obviously noisy. Bit smelly of standing water or drains. Waited 45 mins for breakfast in restaurant - there were only 4 other couples in the pub/restaurant so no excuse for the delay. Another couple who ordered salmon muffins left after 40 mins of waiting despite complaining 10 mins earlier and being told it was being plated up!!! Very very poor service.

A last minute get away!

A lovely hotel centrally located in the town.
It has a modern but sympathetic decor and a friendly atmostphere.

The room was large and airy and well appointed! Very comfortable and much more than anticipated.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay and one to be repeated.

Only criticism , when hot with window open, there is noise from cars and aeroplanes! So take earplugs if sensitive to noise!

The Bar restaurant and rooms look really.
Service by Tom was amazing very accomdating and helpful while not being intrusive.
Nice food was nice but abit pricey.

Cons

Mould in the bathroom.
Mould in the Kettle.
Cold room.
Noisy street and could hear the bar patrons till closing so didn't get an early night.

Good value hotel compare to the equivalent airport hotels near donnington race circuit. Comfortable and has all you need. Only negative car park can get busy and there was no parking for a race trailer

Nice Place but much too much noise from the bar

Great room fabulous bed and shower etc; Very noisy place however as the bar downstairs is extremely popular with locals. Admittedly there was an England game on TV so the place was packed however the noise from downstairs made it impossible to sleep until quite late - as indeed did the fireworks late in the evening (presumably the end of a local town festival?) - Noisiness will put me off booking on future trips to Donington circuit. In fact had this been a Premier I would have been able to reclaim my room cost under their 'Good night's rest' Guarantee without question. Lovely place guys but considering I was driving back to Scotland after my Sunday at the British GT I was rather hoping to be completely refreshed rather than setting off for a day at the circuit completely knackerd

We spent 2 nights visiting friends. The food served in the evening was tasty and breakfast was good. We would have liked a net curtain in the room as it was overlooked. The position of the hotel was good being right in the centre. The rooms appear to have been recently refurbished.

Lovely hotel with a few niggles.

The room was to a very high standard and very clean. Only negatives were, single glazing means the you can hear the road noise, the wifi was not working in my room, TV remote was not working correctly and the shower would change from hot to cold on its own.
