Needs upgrading, expensive friendly staff

This was a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices. I chose the hotel as it had 3 restaurants but when we checked we were informed that the was no space in the restaurants only in the buffet. We had half board. That was poor for a 5 *. Buffet was ok if you like that way of having dinner. We were unlucky that it was cold in the canary island and very windy. The room had no heating system and they provided a small electric heater. I was surprised not to have a heating possibility even here. The staff was very friendly and could not do enough. Nice big rooms and beautiful swimming pools. Some parts of the hotel need upgrading to maintain the 5* status and keep the prices. It was not good value for money.

If you come to this resort you will come back over and over again, the food is superb, the staff is what will bring you back! From the gardening crew (Andres) that will great you every time you walk by to the amazing team of Restaurant managers Carrera, Germano, Patrik, Felix, and Herrera and our superb server Manolo, you became friends. You feel so sad to leave that you have to return to be pampered again! Amazing management. My housekeeper Rosario, I wish I could take her with me! They change your towels 2 times a day and will make your bed if you had a nap in the afternoon! Really amazing

Beautiful complex could not fault it in any way, maybe if I had one criticism it would be the hotel caters for a slightly older person bet that’s it food staff & grounds were all amazing.

Apart of the lobby and the dinner buffet presentation nothing else can reminds you are in a real 5 star hotel.
The high cost is mutch higher than the hotel services. If the only you are looking is to relax around the pool you can do it with less money in many other hotels in the area
The staff is always friendly but the hotel needs improvements. This isn't a hotel for 5 stars

Poor aircon, evening food otherwise very nice.

Beware of inadequate aircon in the main block and wing rooms. Ours didn't get below 22 degrees the whole 10 days we were there despite leaving it on 24/7.and the outside temperature falling to 15 overnight! Apparently the villa blocks are much cooler, \"freezing\" even. Hard floors and thin walls mean you are reliant on other people to keep the noise down which on the whole they do, as the average age of the clientele must be 65+.

Facilities, grounds and pools are all very good with lots of sunbeds and brollies available in sunnier/shadier, windy/ not so windy spots. Don't believe the \"No reserving of beds\" rule though, it is completely ignored by the staff and guests.

Food suffers from the inherent disadvantages of the buffet format. There are plenty of cooking stations in operation, but whilst there is a wide choice (but no pineapple juice) and unlimited supply, the food is only 3/4 * quality with lots of fried meat/fish options. It works for breakfast, but is not 5* for the evening meal. The desserts were particularly disappointing, looking fabulous but all artificial and tasteless. Only the choux buns had real cream in them.

The staff were friendly and generally efficient throughout. Can't comment on the entertainment as it is not our thing. If you want to eat out there are plenty of nearby options, but apparently the only really good one is Samsara.

Nice hotel but was amazed in this day and age that in 22 C heat they insist on using outdoor gas heaters in the outdoor dining areas. Nobody was asking for it and it made the experience uncomfortable. We need to stop doing this!! Poor form RIU.

Great location, lovely pools, great food - wonderful variety at buffet, most of the staff very friendly.
However some negatives - the overpowering use and smell of insecticide in our room - I can still smell it 2 days after leaving the hotel! Some other surprising and disappointing points (for a 5 star hotel) - no slippers provided, a charge of €22 to use the in-room safe, pillows and towels were 3-star level.

Spotless resort. Super efficient staff. Buffet half board can sometimes be a problem finding good options but here the choice is huge and quality very good. Options have included fresh grilled lobster, fresh cut and grilled sirloin, and Easter eggs on Easter Sunday :)

It's a lovely resort and I can't fault the staff; however, it feels like a retirement home, with the clientele being all very old people. The entertainment is all aimed at this group, with massive amounts of Credence Clearwater Revival and ABBA tributes. Despite it being half term, there was no kids club for the first two days, and then only for 90 minutes in the morning. For a family holiday, this is not ideal. There were two \"menu\" restaurants which felt extremely hostile to children (very haute cuisine, no accessible menu options for children) - my daughter lives in London and can happily eat in restaurants without needing some kind of crappy kids menu, but there wasn't anything remotely suitable for her here. So despite being a gorgeous resort, I don't think we will be coming back here. Also the music goes until 11pm most nights and is extremely loud (there is no double glazing and the hotel walls are very thin) - combined with elderly neighbours waking at the crack of dawn and listening to the news on TV at maximum volume, it is not as restful as it should be.

Recommend you stay here with the ocean view. The modern hotel is nearby several restaurants if you don't choose the breakfast and dinner options. There is a supermarket and shops that you can walk to if you forget something. Also, recommend you place your towel down early as chairs get taken up.

You can take a cab to the entrance to the Dunes. I don't recommend you walking from this hotel to Dunes.

Great visit to Gran Canaria

Resort is really nice! Much older crowd than anticipated. Dinner and breakfast included in stay which was a nice surprise. Located right on the sea but no beach access. Had a really cute shopping pavilion right next door with lots of dining options if you felt like venturing out. Was much nicer than the riu in maspalomas which is really outdated but has a really great location in the heart of maspalomas. Nice place though!!

Breakfast & dinner were excellent and included in half board rate at the RIU Palace Meloneras Resort. Beautiful location, excellent view of the ocean and very comfortable, lovely pool areas. Enjoyed the international \"vibe\" of this hotel and guests. We came to bicycle with friends from Switzerland who had been to Gran Canaria several times before. The cycling rentals at Free Motion were high quality and the riding on the island fantastic. The hotel had a roomy baggage area where we stored our rental bikes securely. Hotel personnel were very courteous and accommodative to our cycling plans.

The staff is very very friendly. The A la Carte food is very good.
Overall, they pay attention to details.
The unforgettable thing for this 5 star hotel is that the coffee is the worse you can have. And they let people to smoke everywhere. They do not impose a strict non smoking policy with designated smoking areas. For this reason only I would consider not coming back.

Nice hotel but not for everybody

What we liked: The hotel itself is nice, with courteous, hardworking and (mostly) helpful staff. The pools are beautiful, especially the infinity pool, which overlooks the ocean. The food is plentiful and delicious. The grounds and the rooms are kept up in impeccable condition.

What we didn't like: Aside from a modest gym, there were no athletic facilities or amenities. No tennis court, archery, paddle boarding, windsurfing, not even ping pong. The hotel caters to a certain demographic - many middle aged and older Germans, very few children - so while it's a perfectly beautiful hotel, it's not for everybody. We are an active family with two young children and managed to have a great holiday nevertheless, by booking surfing and SCUBA lessons and going on hikes on our own. The concierge was quite uninformed - had not heard of zip-lining. Again, that may have something to do with the clientele they cater to.

5 days rest!

We loved this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was lovely and quiet so sleep was possible at any time! The breakfast was very varied and catered for all tastes. We didn't eat evening meals in the hotel so I can't account for those. My only gripe is that if we went out at 9am, in spite of there being 4 beautiful pools and probably about 600 sunbeds, it was very difficult to find any sunbeds left. People seemed to put their towels down in the middle of the night! When I'm on holidays the last thing I want to do is set my alarm clock to put down towels so for that reason we won't be going back! It's a shame because we couldn't fault it otherwise.

L’hôtel Riu Palace Meloneras offre un cadre agréable, mais dans l’ensemble, il ne correspond pas vraiment aux standards d’un établissement 5 étoiles. Le restaurant principal dégage une odeur de renfermé, ce qui pousse la plupart des clients à manger à l’extérieur. La salle de bain mériterait une rénovation, et la réception manque un peu de modernité. Dommage, car le potentiel est là, mais une mise à jour serait nécessaire pour retrouver le niveau attendu d’un hôtel de cette catégorie.

Ci sarebbero molte cose da dire e sono sicuro che se sto ad elencarle tutte, la mia recensione passerebbe inosservata perché noiosa e lunga.
Dico che non capisco con che metro di giudizio sono state conferite le 5 stelle. Ci sono tante mancanze perché si possa definire un 5 stelle, la più semplice che mi viene da citare è che nemmeno l'acqua è compresa con la già discutibile scelta della mezza pensione ''forzata''.
Rapporto qualità/ prezzo assolutamente inadeguato.

Altamente recomendable para unas vacaciones de descanso.

A destacar la calidad (y cantidad) del buffet: MUY muy bueno. Pero sobretodo la atención personalizada y amable de todo el personal: que es MARAVILLOSA.

En el buffet la amabilidad y gran profesionalidad de Elías y Roberto lo hacen tan estupendo, que hasta anulamos las reservas de restaurantes a la carta😅 (que seguro serán fantásticos también).

Las 2 piscinas \"adults only\" son un remansito de paz, y Romero te hará pasar un buen rato siempre y sirve las mejores consumiciones de la piscina 😉.

Gute Büffets, schlechte Klimaanlage.

Große, gepflegte und ruhige Anlage mit vorwiegend älterem Publikum. Sehr gute Büffets bis auf den Filterkaffee zum Frühstück. Imposante Lobby. Großes geräumiges Zimmer. Wir hatten Partial Ocean View und konnten am Horizont zwischen den Palmen ein Stück Ozean sehen. Der größte Teil des Blickfeldes ging über die Betonvordächer (siehe Foto). Die Klimaanlage im Zimmer funktionierte nicht richtig. Obwohl sie den ganzen Tag auf Höchstleistung lief, waren es nachts über 25 Grad im Zimmer bei 20 Grad Außentemperatur, so dass wir nur schlecht geschlafen haben. Wir haben dies 3 x an der Rezeption gemeldet und es ist nichts passiert. Es gab auch keine Entschuldigung. Zimmersafe kostet pro Tag 4 Euro extra. Mehrere Pools und ausreichend Liegen. Diese sind jedoch sehr eng gestellt, so dass kaum Privatsphäre besteht. Fazit: Kein grundsätzlich schlechtes Hotel, aber wir würden aufgrund der o.g. Probleme dort nicht noch einmal Urlaub machen.

Mejor hotel 5* de la zona

Es el mejor hotel de 5 estrellas de la zona. El Lopesan tiene mucha fama por sus instalaciones pero este es un hotel demasiado grande y mal atendido; por contra, el Riu Palace tiene el tamaño justo (en el límite alto) para que la atención sea cercana, no haya que esperar horas en los ascensores y el buffet del comedor es maravilloso (en calidad, variedad y sin esperas).

Utomordentligt bra hotellupplevelse

Utmärkt service. Vill särskilt framhålla den utomordentliga städningen, den fantastiskt goda och vällagade maten maten, de stora fina rummen, inklusive toalett och duschrum. Vi bodde i rum 5035 med morgon och eftermiddagssol på balkongen. Snabb Wi-Fi. Trevlig hotellträdgård och poolområde. Proffsigt bemötande reception.

Några saker som skulle ytterligare förbättra hotellupplevelse:

Skippa minibaren.

Kassaskåpet borde vara tillgängligt för gästerna utan extra kostnad. Det kostade nu 25 Euro för fem dagar.

Det informerades på väl synliga skyltar om att förbokning av solstolar inte var tillåtet. Ändå var det mer regel än undantag att solstolarna vid poolen närmast strandpromenaden bokades av gäster innan de gick för att äta frukost och många som sen inte kom till poolområdet förrän sent på förmiddagen. Se till att hantera detta så får alla får plats några timmar också vid det poolområdet.

Très belles piscines surtout celles qui ont une vue sur la mer. Le buffet est varié et de bonne qualité. La chambre est spacieuse et la litterie est confortable.

Gran hotel y magnífico servicio

El hotel tiene varias piscinas que para poder disfrutar tanto si vas en pareja como si vas con niños. Es un hotel mediano (500 habitaciones) lo suficientemente pequeño para que el recorrido entre las habitaciones, comedor y zona exterior resulte agradable y no una travesía interminable. La atención en recepción y comedor es excepcional y el director está muy encima de la actividad diaria, lo cual supongo garantiza un mejor funcionamiento. Está a 10 min andando de la playa por el paseo marítimo y tiene al lado todo tipo de tiendas y restaurantes. Volvería a alojarme sin duda.

Très belle découverte !

Tout a répondu à nos attentes suite aux différents avis que nous avions lus sur l'Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras. Une remarque cependant, la réservation des transats qui doit se faire à l'aube pour sauvegarder sa place .. Le reste SUPER. Repas délicieux avec une préférence pour la grande salle par rapport aux restaurants Krystal et Ocean View qui manquent d'ambiance. Nous retournerons dans cet hotel ! :)

Lo destacable para nosotros es sin dudar el trato de los empleados muy profesionales y súper amables en todos los servicios del hotel. Lo q no nos gusto fue que siendo un hotel de 5 estrellas no cumplía en ciertos aspectos con otros donde nos hemos alojado .Por ejemplo ningún detalle de recibimiento ni siquiera agua , la caja fuerte es de pago y sobretodo en el baño escasean productos de higiene ( gel champú solo hay uno). El tema de la comida en la piscina ( no se si por la situación actual del COVID ) es una oferta muy escasa. Las piscinas están muy bien

El hotel está muy bien pero el servicio no es de 5 estrellas. No sabemos si es por todo lo k ha pasado cn el covid k están cogiendo ritmo pero la primera habitación k nos dieron estaba llena de bichos e íbamos cn un bebé de 10 meses, la segunda hab k nos dieron al lado de donde guardan los carritos las de la limpieza, ruido de puertas desde las 7 de la mañana k despertaban al bebé y al lado uno de los baños de las piscinas dnde los ruidos se escuchaban desde la habitación, no pedimos tercer cambio por el lío k conlleva cn las maletas y bebé. Por otro lado desayuno y cena esta muy bien pero almuerzo en el bar piscina a la comida no es de buena calidad. El hotel, las piscinas y habitaciones están muy bien

solo pudimos estar dos días, pero tanto el hotel, el entorno y, sobre todo, el personal, hicieron que fueran los mejores dos días del verano. Lo del personal no lo decimos como anécdota, sino que nos sorprendió la natural amabilidad de TODOS los que atendían a los clientes. Excelente !!!!

Las instalaciones muy bien, el personal súper atento, había mucha tranquilidad, lo único que mejoraría un poco por decir algo es la comida que está muy bien pero siendo un 5 estrellas hay productos que deberian tener más calidad ya que había mucha variedad.

Anche se vado in Canari da decenni ed ho in abitazione a Sonneland ho voluto regalarmi insieme alla mia signora questa due giorni da favola. È stato un sogno che si è avverato e spero che ogni anno che vengo a svernare in Canaria passare qualche giorno coccolato al Riu.

Bien lo único que no nos gustó que mi mujer está embarazada de 8 meses se quería quedar unos días mas y nos dijeron que estaba lleno,pero yo estaba en recepción vi como la encargada estaba hablando con un cliente diciendo que le quedaban tres habitaciones.cogimos nuestras maletas y nos fuimos, tienen que tener cuidado con esos detalles.solo falto grabarlo increíble.

Excepcional hotel para relajarse

Maravillosa, desde la llegada, pasando por la habitación que era perfecta, el buffet excepcional, las chicas que limpiaban nuestra habitación súper amables y atentas, Juan Antonio en el comedor que era un cielo, el chico del Pool bar (no recuerdo su nombre), súper simpático y Romina en recepción que nos atendió muy bien. Volveremos seguro!
