So for The Sindbad, as you walk in everything is reserved from chairs to tables. You can’t get a chair on the beach unless you talk to the director of chairs and make sure they weren’t reserved. During lunch you would also have to check if the tables weren’t reserved or you would want to actually eat there. The food was mediocre as the money spent should have brought me a better plate, the breakfast was nice but other than that you won’t find yourself enjoying a meal.

I dont know how to start but our stay was very upsetting from the start. As we arrived there we felt very unwelcome from the front dest rep, I thought it's ok he might be having a bad day but I turned out almost everyone works there is so disrespectful and so unhappy especially the cook who was serving the omelet and crepes at breakfast he really made us feel like he's paying for our food out of his pocket not to mention the cleanliness and all the flies and insects around the food.The location was good but the service was really bad and we felt very uncomfortable the whole time there.

A little piece of paradise in a busy town

We arrived early and were able to check in within about 10 minutes after a lovely welcome drink. Our room (9) was large and spacious, although a little noisy in the morning as people were talking in the courtyard and there seemed to be lots of banging coming from next door - not a room but a service area I think. The breakfast was lovely and the pool was very refreshing. We sat outside on the terrace area and watched the world go bye. We were also allowed a late checkout which was a bonus. You walk out the door and the shops, cafes and restaurants are right there. WiFi signal was not the best unless you were by the window or outdoors. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Tunisa

Overall stay was ok, the hotel is very popular for Tunisian, check-in took more than 20 minutes.
The hotel is outdated and need a renovation, mattress and pillow wasn’t the standard of 5 stars, there is too much noise at night coming from the restaurants drunk guests, food price at the beach is expensive comparing to the quality, service by the beach u cant call it 5 star, there is no enough space on the beach because of the outside daily customer, even some guests paying the guys there to reserve them a space, resturant breakfast and dinner was fine with no much international choices, the best was the restaurant crew always smiling and helpful.

Busy beach but nice hotel

Hotel is great right on the beautiful beach. Just a small issue they allow anyone and everyone also to stay on there beach so as a guest you don't get priority for a chair or umbrella. So with that said the beach is slammed pack. They need to somehow put the guests in a area and the all the locals that are using the beach in a area to be semi fair to the guests who are paying for more ways then just drinking a beer.

It’s a really nice hotel with a beachfront, little gym, very nice breakfast buffet and well priced spa. It could use a little bit of a renovation, but it was very clean. The hotel is near the village, but not by the main area of the beachfront hotels.

Nice but needs some minor improvements

This was our first stay at Sindbad. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room, and the decor was nice as well. We found the beach quite full of seaweed, although it appeared to have been cleaned the large piles of seaweed were still in the walking area. I would suggest if possible the beach area is cleaned so that the seaweed can be pushed further away from the walking path. The beach was also surrounded by many old shacks that really cheapened and made it look old and dirty. If this is a private portion of beach for sindbad I suggest they address these issues to make the beach also look like 5 stars. We only had breakfast at sindbad and it was fine with many options. It is a buffet style but you can have someone make an omelette or fried egg for you. We found at times we could hear music at night, but were ensured the room was a quiet one. The infinity pool is beautiful but no one was swimming in it. I think because it's surrounded by people eating in the restaurant so it feels awkward and that everyone is looking at you when you swim. It would be nice if the area was just for people swimming or laying by the pool, versus having a full 3-course sit down meal. For me although it was nice and pleasant in general there are improvements that can be made. I also thought the bed was not very comfortable. It seemed warn out. With that said the staff were helpful and the grounds of the hotel are quite nice

We always enjoy our stays at the Sindbad as you have the feeling of visiting a wealthy friend who has a mansion on of the best beaches there is. The facilities are great and you dont have the hotel feel as it is all private bungalows and suites. Highly recommended.

Went at the end of February for a short break and although the weather was poor, the hotel is so relaxing. Nice friendly staff make you welcome. Rooms spacious and clean. Best feature is heated indoor swimming pool in winter time. Meals in the evening are either buffet or menu. The evening buffets didn't have hot vegetarian choice on my visit, which was a shame and some of the dishes were not 'labelled' so it was difficult to tell if there was meat in.
Worst feature are the caged birds in the garden. I keep hoping one day they will set them free.

Not happy in general.It started good until the 3rd and last night.They offered \"a la carte\"menu. There was no choices at all.I was obliged to chose a fish menu after confirming with the waiter that it is sea bass fish.I received the dinner after almost 1 hour.It was not a sea bass but sardines instead. It was busy and crowded that night.I can see in the face of everyone, the disappointment, but nobody want to say it.Anyway I went there because of the review of the previous gests. Clearly it was wrong. That's why I'm writing this review.To give an objective idea for the future gests.It will be a max 4 stars hotel but never 5.The staff are trying their best to be friendly and kind, but the work load prevent them sometimes to be so.

Great beach

The beach is fantastic, especially the beach waiters who put linen cloths on the beach tables and serve water in ice buckets! Beautiful views along the bay, and fine, clean sand. Both beach restaurants are very good, with a wide choice of food. The infinity pool is a lovely area too, and in the evening it is really nicely lit and great for chilling out. The other outdoor pool is very quiet, but we found that a good afternoon spot. Breakfast was really good, bit too many buffets for my liking in the evening though. All staff were really friendly and helpful.

Value for money hotel by the beach

Young bloke here in Tunisia working, so I decided to take a weekend break to Hammamet to stay by the beach and relax. Went to this hotel because it was decently priced and the reviews were positive. However, when I got there, the staff weren't as welcoming to me as they were to their other \"older\", Ralf Lauren, Prada, Gucci wearing guests. Snotty came to mind. Bare in mind, I was dressed appropriately

To the hotel itself... I could see that this hotel used to be a 5 star hotel, but I wouldn't give it this rating anymore. First problem I came across was the card power switch. It wasn't very well fixed to the wall and heard sparks every time I went to put my card in or get it out. Second problem I found was when I was running a bath; the overflow hole wasn't connected. So all the water ended up on the floor. Other than that, there were minor imperfections here and there, things that I haven't seen in other 5 star hotels.

The good stuff now... Breakfast is amazing, great variety of choice. The semi-private beach is lovely. Lovely golden white sand, clean water, clean beach, plenty of space (it wasn't peak season), the views from the pool/bar are stunning. They have a good choice of drinks and if you don't want alcohol, even though it's not on their menu, they can make you virgin cocktails. The rooms themselves are very clean. Just the right size, not overly big and not small.

Overall, for the price I paid, I'm satisfied. I just wish they would have been more welcoming

The Sinbad is a Hammamet institution. As one of the peninsulas classic hotels dating to the 60s, recent renovations have not touched the hotel's original sleek mod-style. The beach is fantastic, the hotel is set within luscious gardens and the a la carte cuisine is fantastic.

Quiet, relaxing - very indulgent

I stayed at this hotel in June - but even then it seemed quite quiet and peaceful. Local families turned up to use the beach and pools at the weekend, but otherwise it was pretty low-key (those looking for a party destination may be disappointed).
The medina (souk, museum) is about 30 mins walk away along the beach, which is a nice walk - but there isn't much there unless you're really into shopping and bargaining. I didn't get as much hassle as I'd worried I would (as a single woman); I got a few compliments, but nothing too aggressive.
The hotel staff is helpful and courteous, although the restaurant food seemed over-priced. I went to the mini mart about 5 mins away on the main street to pick up snacks a couple of times instead.
You won't need beach or pool towels as these are supplied, and staff nearby will set things up for you; it's a free service, but you might like to tip a few dinar in return.
The hotel has an exchange service at reasonable rates, and an ATM - but you can't change from TDN to other currencies (and you can't leave the country with Dinar, so you'll probably only want to change small amounts at a time).
Avoid the hotel-provided taxi to/fromthe airport - they charge around £40 per private car for the single trip, but you can arrange shuttle transfers from the UK/elsewhere for around £10.
There's quite a hard sell on the spa services; my massage wasn't particularly cheap, and a little too hands-on ... but a nice change from lying on the beach.

Live it but watch out for Sundays

This is our little luxury bolt hole for a gorgeous getaway..been many times. One thing to note is that because the hotel is 'the place to be and be seen' on saturdays and Sundays it does open to members who are not residents. These people are definately 5 star types but you might find that service drops for residents as the focus shifts to members. Defibatrly on beach where front row beds are 'reserved' for members! Frustrating at first but once you know this, Sunday is a good day to go elsewhere :-) that said we love it and will be back again next year!!

Wonderful retreat close to many great sights.

The Sindbad is without a doubt the best hotel we stayed at in Tunisia. For a relaxing getaway it can't be beat and it's proximity to Hammamet and Hammamet South is a great benefit to it's guests. But you'll likely find it hard to leave - it has impeccably clean beaches, wonderful restaurants, two bars and truly friendly staff. If you're looking to relax in a somewhat familiar environment in Northern Africa this is a great place, but I'd also encourage travellers to venture south and explore an authentic Tunisia too!

Memorable and lovely weekend getaway

We stayed two nights and were pleasantly surprised by the high level of service from the staff, a clean and well-equipped beach, and the spaciousness of our room. We made good use of the indoor pool. The spa's hammam and scrub treatment was terrific, but the shiatsu massage was below expectations. Restaurants and bar varied. Beachfront lunch was good, dinner at Chiraz too salty, and breakfast buffet nothing extraordinary. Pillows were lumpy and far too tall for comfortable sleeping. Overall, we look forward to returning, as the negatives are nothing to the many great aspects the hotel has to offer.

Nice hotel, shame about the area

I stayed in the Sindbad in October/November for a week with a friend. The staff were very welcoming, even when our flight was delayed. While the hotel was overall very clean I was disappointed to get a room which has a large area of damp from floor to ceiling by the door opening onto our seating area. By the end of the week there was quite a bit of mould growing on it and everything in the room seemed a bit damp. The room however was very comfortable and otherwise clean. The week we went wasn't very warm and some nights the room was quite cold but the beds had duvets on so it wasn't too bad. Breakfast was fine...large selection of bread, meat, eggs, omelettes, crepes etc. The pools and other areas of the hotel were also well kept. The hotel's beach was very clean but if you walk either side along the beach you will find piles and piles of rubbish and disused hotels which pretty much sums up this part of Hammamet. This isn't the hotels fault but I would say if you don't play golf and the sun isn't shining there isn't much else to do here. Food and drink is much more expensive in the hotel as you'd expect (£10 for bottle of house wine, £6 for cocktail). It would have been nice if there had been some boardgames available for guests when the weather wasn't good. Overall the hotel was fine but unfortunately I would not choose to return to Hammamet due to my overall experience.

Reasonable for the price

My partner and I decided to go down to Hammamet for New years and spent 3 days there, while I was working here in Tunisia.

The Sindbad hotel located right on the sea front has great location for the beach. The rooms were comfortable, but with un-carpeted rooms and no offering of slippers made the room very cold to move about.

The reception and dining area has had a renovation and looks grand, but the room itself can be a bit disappointing. Since most of it is very old, so don't be surprised if one or more equipment doesn't work.

They do offer free wireless internet, but the signal strength is very weak unless your near the reception area, so basically be prepared to have no internet in your room.

If your thinking of attending the New Years dinner Gala; then let me spare you some money and don't go. The price per person when i was there was 115TND and it does not include any drinks. They have some performers singing french or italian songs and if you don't speak any of those language it just becomes noise. The seating arrangement can be very cramped as they seem to just pile ppl in. It is 6 course meal and the food is reasonable, but for the same cost you could go to a great restaurant and get an abundant amount of food.

Overall, I was not too disappointed since i got a special on the room rate, but would never pay top dollar to stay here.

I had not stayed at the hotel for a few years, but upon my return found it refurnished, with a new infinity pool overlooking the beach. This was beautiful.

Everything is near to hand, with the small but clean beach in front of the hotel. It is a pleasant walk along the beach into town (30 minutes). This older resort area is a far nicer place than the concrete tourist ghetto at Yasmine Hammamet.

Breakfast is good, but avoid the half board with dinner. For the latter there are bizzare seating regulations in place - we were constantly directed to sit at the bright rear of the restaurant - instead of the pleasant front, where supposedly 'reserved' (but unmarked) empty tables remained so until the restaurant closed. Waiters pleasant by day became aggressive about this in the evening. It spoiled dinner every time.

'Sea view' rooms are on offer for a supplement. Avoid this, as rooms are near the sea but have no sea view.

Spacious room, cleaned each day (with petals arranged on my pillow.) Good modern bathroom with full-sized bath and shower cubicle. Fluffy bathrobes.
Dinner was often a buffet - plenty of choice but a bit samey after a few days. Loved the bar by the infinity pool - watching the sun set and the moon rise, listening to the waves and sipping wine.
Friendly, helpful staff. Free internet access in lobby.
Clean private beach with loungers and parasols. No beach activities at the hotel but further down the beach to the south.
20 mins walk along the beach or the road to Hammamet town.

It is the third time I have stayed here in the last 12 months. It is a 5 star hotel in its service as well as its appearance, unlike many hotels that have the look but don't live up to it so far as service goes. I got the impression that all the staff were specifically trained to deal with clients and offer a high level of service not just \"plonked\" there as with many hotels. Rooms I had have always been impeccable. This is the best hotel I've visited in Sousse or Hammamet in this price range.

Beautiful, relaxing hotel

The Sindbad Hotel was beautiful. The room was of a really high standard, they even left fresh flowers on our pillow one day. There were little walkways all around the hotel, with well manicured gardens that are lovely. The resort had 4 restaurants. We tried them all, and were really happy with everything. Staff were friendly and polite, we didn't have any issues. It was pretty quiet there, maybe it wasn't peak season yet and there wasn't a ton of things to do, but if you're happy lounging by the pool, reading a book and waiters happy to bring over food and drinks, then no problem.

We didnt see much of the surrounding area, but did visit the medina. They did try the hard sell, but I wouldn't say there was any hassling at all. it was all fun, and there was a great selection of stuff to check out.

The only problem with the whole trip was getting a taxi from the hotel back to Tunis airport. The rate the hotel charged was far above what we thought we should pay, compared to the taxi we got on the way there. So we ended up asking a local taxi, who arranged a driver to take us back. All in all, great holiday.

Sindbad Hammemet - Relaxing

Very relaxing atmosphere, good food and clean.
NOT 5 star accommodation so price is too high [ even with the discount I received ] 4 star is about right, with refurbishments it could get a 5. Beach area is beautiful, and pool bar is great for lunch or evenings with fabulous atmosphere and stunning views.

Very good hotel in Hammamet

The attention at this hotel is outstanding and the food is excellent. Even though the building might be a little outdated, the whole experience is fantastic. We had a terrific time here and everyone in the hotel did their best to make it such.
As we booked half board, we were not in the a-la carte restaurant; however, if you go there they give you a discount acknowledging the fact you already pay for dinner. But even without going to the other restaurants, the menu is incredible good: 5 choices for appetizer, main course and desert. They try to make one vegetarian of each and the rest has a good variety (for example, the main course might be beef, lamb, chicken, fish and one vegetarian dish). The only thing we did not enjoy was the wine price: it was double the price compared to everywhere else, including other 5-star hotels such as La Kasbah. However, prices are still pretty good compared to Canada or Europe
I would recommend it to everyone that wants to relax and enjoy good food.

Brilliant Trip

Hotel Sinbad is a great hotel about an hours drive from Monastir Airport. It's a 5 min cab from the centre of Hammamet and a short walk along the beach from it also.
The hotel itself is clean and the staff are very friendly. It is decorated simply with traditional white-wash walls. The rooms are of a very good standard, are clean and have plenty of facilities (our room had a seperate living room and 2 plasma tvs!), most are facing the hotel's well kept gardens.

By far the best part of the hotel is the pool bar which overlooks the gulf of Hammamet, here you will be pampered with great service, food, drink and plenty of space to lay back and have a drink or sit under a parasol and relax. Staff here are great and always on hand to help whether it be to prepare a sunbed, create a good cocktail or give some good local info on places to go and see.

All in all Hotel Sinbad is a good hotel that we'd certainly consider returning to.

I stayed at the Sindbad Hotel for 2 nights in May 2010.

Pros:
1. Clean and comfortable room with a big bath room (separate shower, bath tub, and toilet).
2. Good breakfast
3. Nice beach and pool
4. Very good spa

Cons:
1. Overall, the hotel and all facilities are rather old
2. In terms of overall standard, it's probably closer to a 3-star than a true 5-star hotel - especially when compared to hotels in Dubai
3. Food served in the pool bar was not fresh. I had some bad calamari
4. Prices for services, e.g. spa, food, drinks, etc. - not quite commensurate with the service, ambiance and quality

Nonetheless, a solid a hotel worth staying at.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful situation

The Sindbad is a beautiful, well-run white-painted modern moorish style hotel. All the accommodation is in two-storey blocks reached by shaded arcades and set amidst lush gardens full of bougainvillea, palm trees and Carthaginian archaeological relics. The rooms are elegant and comfortable. Maybe public rooms (and entertainment) are a little bland, but spotlessly clean. The facilities are excellent, staff are friendly and helpful and the situation couldn't be better - right on the wonderful Hammamet beach, with a great restaurant on the beach, bathing terraces and an infinity pool – and just a 20 minute stroll along the beach to Hammamet centre. The breakfasts are great, and so are the buffet dinners but the fixed menu meal on alternate nights are a little bland. Fortunately, there is a great cutprice Thai menu on site for a change. All in all, a perfect venue for a relaxing getaway do nothing holiday.

Great Weekend

Went to this hotel during EID from Tunis and they never missed a beat even though for the first few days they were still fasting. This hotel is a great place to go and relax. Great service from the front to the guys on the beach getting towels, drinks, setting up chairs. Upon arrival we were offered an upgrade to a 3 room suite that overlooked the sea for our family of 6 rather than 2 small rooms we had booked. Great food, catered well to the large group of 13 that we had so we could all sit together at meals. Nice Beach front.

care - this is not a 5 star!

I expect this was a really good 4/5 star maybe 5 or 10 years ago I travel a lot and this wouldnt make a 3 stars on the food and barely a 4 star on the accommodation. The service was terrible Dont do the half board. We nearly did and popped down one of the nights to see what it was like. This was best described at reasonable quality motor cafe food..when we left we sighed with relief realising we had dodged a bullet on the decision to just do breakfast. There is a two tier class system operating here; The local Tunisian glitterati who dont actually stay in the hotel, but pop down for a few hours here and there and reserve all the best spots and use this hotel as a place to do drinks, socialise at the beach and later at the infinity pool bar. The problem here is the staff driven by the big tips from a couple of dozen visitors you will be left feeling like you shouldnt be there, or you are in some way inferior. We even spoke to the owners who seem to have some awareness of the apartheid that is operation but dont feel able to do anything about it. Its a shame, the infinity pool area would give any of the swanky boutique hotels a run for their money, though I doubt if they would treat you like this. On the upside the old pool area is calm and well serviced and the beach restaurant a good standard. I have been to many 5 star hotels and this place should be downgraded.

Great Spot on the Water

If you are looking for a place to hole up, lay by the pool/beach for a few days, and do little else but relax ... this is the place to do it. Small, but comfortable and clean rooms. Right on the beach. Great pool and bar. Great restaurant beach. Other bars/restaurant within the hotel, all are excellent. Neighborhood is what it is, but I went to relax .. not be a tourist.

Great service

We spent 3 days at Sindbad hotel and we had a lovely time. I was particularly pleased with the service, all the staff were incredibly helpful. The hotel does look a bit 70's from the outside, but all rooms have been redecorated to a high modern standard. We weren't that keen on the bedrooms on the ground floor, but we were moved to a larger room on the upper floor and this was wonderful. The beach pool is a wonderful place. The beach and beach restaurant are great. And it is really nice to be able to walk to the Medina on the beach - 20 mins walk. We will go back. Very friendly service.

Très bien ds l'ensemble sauf les places \"réservé\"

Mon séjour à l'hôtel Sindbad était dans l'ensemble très bien. Toutes mes félicitations à toutes les personnes qui on cuisiné de délicieux petit plats, que ce soit le petit-déjeuner ou le dîner tout était très bon. Bravo au chef pâtissier pour ces délicieuse viennoiseries ainsi que les très bonne pâtisseries servis au dîner. Merci beaucoup au serveur Samy pour sa gentillesse, son sourire et sa serviabilité.
Merci au dame de ménage qui font un travail propre et soigné.
L'ensemble du personnel était gentille et serviable avec nous.

Cependant j'étais très déçu des serveurs du restaurant au bord de la piscine à débordement et ceux de la plage. Effectivement, ces personnes réservait plusieurs tables complètes ou transats complets alors que personne n'avait réservé. Résultat a notre arriver le matin très tôt on ne pouvait pas s'asseoir là ou on voulait parce que le serveur avait décider de \"réserver\" des tables pour d'autres clients qui allaient lui laisser un pourboir. C'était selon la tête du client. Je trouve ça inadmissible nous avons payer notre hôtel comme tout le monde on doit être considéré comme tout le monde, ce n'est pas normal que l'on ne puisse pas s'asseoir là ou on veut j'étais très choquer par ce comportement.
J'espère qu'à l'avenir vous allez résoudre ce problème pour vos prochain clients.

Agréable séjour dans un hôtel très propre et surtout très bien entretenu. Jolie chambre en rez-de-jardin. Le petit déjeuner n’était pas à hauteur de mes attentes mais cela est peut-être subjectif. J’aurais aimé des crêpes et galettes tunisiennes gaufres faite sur place, comme dans certains hôtels cela donne un côté très convivial.
