View from room was outstanding! Staff were very friendly. Housekeeping was meh. Bathroom was not cleaned during stay. Toilet paper not refilled. Sheets on bed were pulled up but pillows were left as we left them, not fluffed/straightened. Outlets on walls did not hold plugs securely, only able to charge phones using half of the outlets in the room.
Restaurants were overall very nice, good food.
Boat ride to island was nice, but a little rough, so bring dramamine, etc if prone to motion sickness.
Pools were lovely. There was always enough room to find a shaded spot, both at the pools and on the island. Likewise, towels were in abundant supply.
Overall, it is a beautiful property, but could improve a bit in the areas of housekeeping and infrastructure.
They offer the ability to fill water bottles at various locations. One of the filter indicators we noticed was red, told the front desk. 5 days later it is still red. No bueno. While they offered a few activities and a play area for kids, if this area was enhanced (perhaps an activity coordinator)they could become a family destination of choice.

It was a nice resort, but needed some updating. The WiFi was pretty terrible and overall systems dated. You have to wear a watch like band to open your room door, but have to manually provide your room number and name for every drink or meal. Most bars ring you up every time you order a drink even if you are having several rounds. We like more adult style properties and this catered more to families and conventions. Also, the food was very average. They did have good bourbon selection in a few bars which is tough to find in the Caribbean. The private island was ok, but transport was not timely like they advertise.

Check-in was a nightmare- took almost 45 minutes because I had reserved 2 rooms on Expedia, but the resort only had 1 room under my name. Immediately after check-in, we got stuck in the elevator for 15 minutes. Then, our wristbands didn't work on one of the rooms because the door lock battery was dead, so another 20 minutes for maintenance to come change out the battery. Finally made it to the Funicular to check out the water park, which is a journey from the main lobby, only to find out it was closed at 5:30pm. Hotel property is absolutely stunning, with beautiful pools and ocean views!! Be warned, there are a LOT of steps to go up and down and a lot of walking as this resort is huge. No beach at the main hotel, but there is a ferry to an island where you can swim, snorkle and relax. Check out was just as much of a nightmare and took forever. They forgot to charge my self parking fee so it took forever to open my Folio up again to charge to the room- could not pay with a Credit Card seperatly for some reason. The property is very beautiful but I will not be going back because of all the headaches.

The amenities were great! Our room was right by the water park, which was great for us, although I would have felt safer in a room that didn’t have a glass door on the ground floor. And if it has it, might asw well open from the outside with your room key. The room was spotless when we arrived and the first day it was spotless again. The second day, not so much. One of the restaurants was underwhelming but everywhere else was great! The staff was delightful, remembered us every time they saw us. My son was just thrilled. A perfect little getaway for a parent and child, and I bet it would be amazing for a couple too, but probably better to stay in the top part of the resort! One thing to note is stop on the way for anything you need if you don’t have a car. The taxis are silly expensive!

This resort functions like a nightclub 24/7. There is music blasting at the pool, the waterpark, the beach, the lounge and every restaurant all the time—there is no escape from oppressive noise! Our room was in the marina area between the line for the boat to the island, the Ballyhoo restaurant, and on the other side was the Furnicular. Every day there were steel drums playing between 4:30-6:30pm playing at full volume for the boat arrivals, so we couldn’t rest in our room before dinner after being in loud spaces all day with our kids. The resort calls it “Music Entertainment” but it is more like a “Music Migraine” and it is completely not necessary. In fact, the experience would have been way better without it even though this place has other big problems…

This resort is not equipped to function at full capacity. It boasts abundance, but it is actually a place of scarcity. There are long lines everywhere. For example, if you do not make dinner reservations for every night, then good luck getting dinner. On our first night it took about an hour and a half to get service and this is not easy with little kids. There is no daily option for a good breakfast in the marina area. There is a small market with coffee and pastries but the line usually takes an hour because of the line to get to the island. If you want to go to Palomino Island at 9, the line starts at 8am and gets long until about 1PM. My idea of vacation is not standing in long lines to do everything.

The property itself is beautiful with stunning views and well-maintained grounds. The coffee shop staff were warm, kind, and welcoming — they were the highlight of the service experience.

Unfortunately, several issues impacted our stay. At check-in, a duplicate charge resulted in over $2,000 being held on our credit card. While it was eventually corrected, it limited our ability to book excursions during part of our stay. Communication at check-in could also be improved, as we were not given clear information about activities on the property, and the QR codes posted in the elevators did not work.

Our room door was extremely difficult to open and required significant force each time, which was inconvenient and concerning.

While the resort is visually impressive, the overall service felt cold and not very welcoming in most areas. With better communication, improved attention to detail, and warmer hospitality, this could be an exceptional experience.

We found that the short walk to the restaurant off of the resort was a well worth it. For the price of the food at the resort, the food was really subpar. It was not very good at any place that we ate at. We had a group of six and we all had similar negative experiences with a male bartender at the Ballyhoo! bar and staff that we’re passing out towels at the pool. They did come across as hateful. The staff upstairs and inside the resort were friendly but as soon as you step outside of the building, it just seemed to be negative. So I’m saying that we spent the majority of our time off the resort.

I check in time was scheduled for 4 PM my room original room was not available so the staff put me in a horrible view room facing the utility area. My sister waited until 7:30 PM for her room, which inconvenienced me by having everyone shower and get dressed in my room. although the compound is beautiful, the pool, the eateries, lobbies, restaurants, and stores. The actual room that I got reassigned was horrible and now it actually explained why the manager scrubbed her shoulders like oh well just put her in it attitude. I paid for ocean front view which was what i had been assigned but since my room wasn’t ready which was not my fault I got stuck looking at the trees and the small road that lead to a utility room for the actual employees.

We had a tiresome stay. My review of the hotel is that it’s a bad place to show up tired and hungry. We waited in lines for at about 4 hours a day. That includes waiting for the ferry and then waiting for dinner. The first day we waited 3.5 hours for a call from the restaurant near the front desk. Despite my checking in with them 3 times a call never came. But that wait time also includes things like waiting over 45 minutes for somebody to take our order after we get a table. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever seen in my life! The hotel is so overpriced for the rooms and all the food. We’re staying in room 3140 and there’s visible dirt on the walls in the hallway. We’re talking about baseboards caked with dust and the walls dirty as well. I’ve worked in hotels before and this place is sad. We regret coming here and we will never make that mistake again!
We also had to make 4 or trips to the front desk to get the ocean view room we paid for. That took about 2 hours over 24 hours. The room was quite out dated. The front desk initially said it was our fault for using Expedia, or expedias fault.

This is a nice hotel. You can’t just walk out to the beach, that’s something people should know. Oceanfront means u can see it from a distance. U have to ride a trolley thing to go down the mountain and then take a boat to go to the beach. That was not clear when we booked. The place is clean.everyone has to slam the doors to get them to lock( this is def something they need to look into, thats loud and annoying). The boat ride is fun, their private beach is nice. Food inside the resort is pricey. The place is beautiful,and really nice landscaping and views. People are friendly. Would return.

We are frequent guests at El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, which made this Valentine’s weekend stay especially disappointing. We arrived on February 12th and experienced a delayed check-in due to another guest complaining that her room smelled of mold. We assumed it was an isolated issue—until we opened our door and were hit with the same strong musty odor.

We requested a room change, but a large wedding meant nothing else was available. Another couple nearby reported the same problem. Housekeeping was sent, but the smell remained. The HVAC appeared to be leaking or heavily condensating into the carpet, which stayed damp. The carpet also didn’t seem vacuumed—debris ended up in our bed if we didn’t wipe our feet. In the bathroom, the shower handle came off in my hand.

Breakfast at Ventanas was equally frustrating. We were seated promptly but left after nearly 20 minutes without service, and then waited another 10 minutes for a manager.

On a positive note, dinners at Ballyhoo and Bono were excellent and helped salvage the trip. It’s unfortunate to see the resort’s condition declining, as it has long been one of our favorite destinations. We hope improvements are made.

The cleaning service was not good! They missed a day and I had to call them to come clean the room (even that, they missed washing coffee cups, replacing towels) Sheets were not changed! My pillow cases had black stains and they never got changed. The bathroom was not cleaned during room services.
The room was too cold to the point we couldn't sleep at night. Called the front desk and they were not able to fix it.
I had higher expectations when guests are charged high pricing.

We stayed at El Conquistador Resort and overall it’s a beautiful, massive property. The grounds are stunning and the views are incredible. It truly feels like a destination in itself. The private island is a huge highlight — such a fun and unique perk. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, plus shops on site, so you really don’t have to leave the resort if you don’t want to.

That said, the beds were much too firm for our liking, which made it hard to get comfortable at night. If you prefer a softer mattress, that’s something to keep in mind.

Overall, it’s a gorgeous, expansive resort with lots to do — just wish the beds had been a bit cozier!

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday at El Conquistador Resort, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The resort was luxurious, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing — exactly what I wanted for such a special milestone. There were plenty of food options and activities right on the property, so we never ran out of things to enjoy.

The staff made the experience even more special. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and treated me like family. A special shout-out to Miguel and Padero for going above and beyond to make my birthday celebration feel extra special!

I’ll admit, I was initially nervous when I was told my room would be located in the Marina area near the waterpark. I had even requested a move. However, after staying there, I was so happy they weren’t able to accommodate the change — it turned out to be a wonderful location and worked out perfectly.

My only small disappointment was that I paid for an ocean view room expecting a full, unobstructed ocean view, but received a partial ocean view instead. I do wish the website clarified that option more clearly.

That said, the overall experience far outweighed that minor issue. I’m already planning my second visit — and I can’t wait to return!

We were given a room in Las Brisas which needed updating. The only thing that housekeeping seemed to do was make the bed and replenish the towels. The floors were not clean. Neither was the toilet or shower while we were there. The pool was very nice and they were plenty of lounge chairs. Both hot tubs were not working properly and needed upgrading. The ferry to the Paloma Island Beach was unreliable. There is no beach on the property itself which I did not realize when I booked the hotel. The restaurants on property are pretty good. There is nothing to do at the resort in the evening at all. This resort may have worked better if we had younger children because we did not take advantage of the waterpark at all. The staff were all very friendly and I liked that the coffee shop was open 24 hours.

Stayed 1/18–1/20/26. First time at El Conquistador. Check-in was extremely disorganized. I booked and paid for two ocean-view rooms for a party of four. Rooms were not ready at 4 PM (standard check-in) and were still not ready at 4:45 PM. Staff refused to offer a reasonable late check-out or waive the resort fee despite the delay. At 5:15 PM the same representative claimed I only had one ocean-view room and said the hotel was overbooked. Only after showing proof and pushing back did they waive the resort fee and provide a 2 PM check-out.

Room conditions were poor. Brisas wing, 2nd floor had a strong musty/moldy smell in the hallway and room. Carpet powder was used to mask the odor, making it worse. Bathroom was very outdated—rust around the faucet, slippery sunken tub, and a malfunctioning shower that caused standing water. Sheets were thin and pilling.

The only positives were the balcony ocean view, facilities, and restaurants. Based on the room quality and customer service, I would not stay here again.

Unfortunately on arrival they told us that they were overbooked and they had to give us a different room. Although the room was excellent it was in the Marina and you had to travel the tram to get to the main hotel where the swimming pool, restaurants, shopping and entertainment was. The next day they got us a different room in the Garden area and we were happy.

The stay was fine. Resort fee was higher than expected ( was told 65 per night in an email, was charged 75 per night). Besides that everything was good.
