I really like the whole self check in and out idea but my main problem with this place is there is no AC, not fridge and it’s really hard to get cups for the coffee vending machine in the lobby. But it’s super clean, quiet, and has a nice view of a park. It’s the bare minimum of what you need and it’s a good value for the money.

The self-service concept is fantastic, and the location for public transport is perfect.

It was good. The PIN code given to us initially was wrong and that was frustrating as we couldn’t get into the room. Thank god it was still working hours so we contacted the staff on telephone after a wait of 10minutes and got a new code immediately. Altogether it was a good place for the price.

I loved how accesible and clean the property was, the option of having no check in desk is quite smart and avoids a long time of waiting and standing around, only complaints would be that i got two single bed and the blinds were rather difficult to work but for 33 GBP cant find yourself a better bargain than this.

The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, or rather tried to sleep in, as I barely slept because the bed was so bad.
Furthermore the code we were given to our room was wrong, so we had to call to get the correct code.

It’s a bit out of the way of Essen town centre, but easy to get to once you work out the tram situation

As the hotel is in a shopping centre you can, of an evening get youths playing football and cars
Being drag raced at 4 in the morning.

This place is not a hotel its do it your self. Everything is completed online. I didn't see any staff only the cleaner once and they didn't have the right towels. I only found the underground car by asking another guest.All the code entry doors were taped open anyone could have walked in. Would not stay at a Mcdreams hotel again.

The place is great, clean and with convenient location. Check in is smooth. The only downside was that even the parking is free, they shut down the parking from 12 am till 6, meaning, if you are coming late from a party, you have to park outside risking getting a ticket, or if something urgent happened at night and you needed to take your car out, you can’t.

We get the worst room ever. It was a door instead of a wall between two rooms. The guests next to us was very loud and they put music on in the middle of the night. We heard everything when they talk and laugh. We had to knock a few times to the door between the rooms and ask the guest next to us to be quiet.
Actually it is a connecting room (with a thin door between the 2 rooms). Somehow we get that room and shared it with some strangers. We had a horrible night and we barely sleep due to noise from the room next to us. It was room no 106.

Nice in many ways, but with some big problems

The hotel is new, and in good condition, and well specified - the bathroom is really good. The wifi works well. It has it's own underground car park, and it is conveniently located next to 2 supermarkets (one Aldi and another more upmarket one). The person on reception was very helpful.

But there are some important downsides:

The doors to each room have a very unusual modern entry system that requires users to enter a code, and then simultaneously hold a handle and twist a knob (not a handle), within a few seconds. Impossible to do unless you have both hands free. And in the room we had, it was so difficult that my wife didn't have the strength to turn the knob enough to successfully open the door. Seems unnecessarily difficult.

The other big issue is that the rooms don't have air conditioning, so on warm days you'll need to sleep with the window open. Unfortunately our room faced on to the car park for the supermarkets, where quite a lot of people gathered in the evening and into the small hours. We had quite a strong smell of marijuana coming in to our room. Also the nightclub across the road seems to close at around 6am, so the noise of people leaving there came straight into our open window.

It is a real shame - I really wanted to like this hotel. But it seems that decisions made when designing the hotel mean that, although it's new, I really can't recommend it.

Had to request a room closer to the lift.
Surrounding neighborhood is somewhat rundown.
Not a great view out the window.
Good underground free parking.
Check out on Sunday reception was closed.

had a bit of trouble getting the door to open with code at first but once got hang of it.
The hotel is a great basic no thrills and added bonus of Netflix so tv so can find something to watch easy,though the sound is set a bit too low,its a case of no one move or make a noise.

What we needed, nothing more

This was a basic hotel with no extra amenities, but it served our needs just fine. We needed a place with wifi to do school work during a few days of rest. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and the hotel is in a fairly nice location. It's close to a park, stores, and a short walk to the train station.

We stayed in a business double with park view. All very good, comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Very peaceful location. Friendly staff. The front of the hotel is in a retail park with a nice Edeka supermarket/café for breakfast. Plenty of parking in dedicated hotel underground car park. Excellent transport links to center of Essen, tram stop right outside. Great hotel!

Room was very modern, with a 'suite pad'/ tablet full of useful information on the hotel, amenities and local area. Free underground parking. The TV had Netflix which you could sign into your own account with which was brilliant. The windows had a metal black out shutter attached outside that you could pull down to block out the light. It was really hot and we asked reception for a fan which they provided. Only thing missing which would have been nice was a mini fridge or ice machine.

Obwohl das Hotel relativ neu ist, sehen Zimmer und Ausstattung aus wie aus den 70igern. Die Gardinen und Wände waren dreckig. Das einzig Gute war das saubere Badezimmer und das kostenlose Parken in der Tiefgarage. Fazit: Nie wieder.

Parkplätze in der Tiefgarage ausreichend vorhanden, hell und sauber. Schließzeit für Einfahrt in die Tiefgarage zwischen 00:00 und 06:00 Uhr finde ich persönlich nicht so optimal. Man kann in dieser Zeit draußen parken, aber wenn ich die Wahl habe, parke ich lieber in der Tiefgarage

Dit hotel werkt met een online receptie (via mail en Whatsapp) en dat is goed bevallen. Kamer en badkamer waren netjes, schoon en ruim. We vonden het wel wat warm op de kamer (oktober zonder verwarming). Parkeren is gratis in de parkeergarage of het plein (wel even kenteken gegevens online van auto na vrijgave kamer doorgeven). Er zitten 2 supermarkten onder het hotel. In de buurt ook veel eettentjes en cafe’s. Openbaarvervoer voor deur en lopen naar het begin van het centrum is 15 minuten. We vonden het geluid vanaf de gang een paar keer s’nachts wel goed te horen als er meerdere mensen pratend door heen lopen. En tot slot was het voor de prijs zeker de moeite waard. Al met al een prima verblijf.

ich habe eine Nacht in dem Hotel verbracht und war sehr zufrieden mit dem Service und des schnellen check-in-systems.
Zimmer sind modern und einfach eingerichtet Frühstück gibt es für 8 € beim Bäcker parkplätze in der Tiefgarage sind kostenlos. vor dem Hotel sollte man nicht parken, da ist ein privatparkplatz ist und 30 € Strafe kostet über 3 Stunden parken

An sich war das Hotel ganz in in Ordnung, außer die Lautstärke und die Obdachlosen die gefühlt vorm Eingang geweilt haben. Der Grund für die Rezension ist eine fälschliche Beschuldigung, wir hätten im Hotelzimmer geraucht. Diese Nachricht kam natürlich erst nach dem auschecken. Absoluter Schwachsinn. Sowas wimmelt potenzielle Stammkunden ab.
