The Sheraton has a nice bar and the room was comfortable. However, the light was broken (very dark room) and the housekeeper didn't provide enough, towels, glasses and soap even after we complained.

It has gone downhill since we last visited in 2019.

It needs updating. I have stayed at the property before actually this is my third time. For example, you need to buy a Wi-Fi and so many things were right. The breakfast hall, could not find certain things like wanting a fry egg. So many things.

I'd certainly stay here again. The service at the front desk was really excellent, the fitness centre was clean and enjoyable to use. The bed was very comfy. Unusually for me, I didn't use either the restaurant or bar, but when I needed some directions, the staff at the bar were friendly and helpful.

An old hotel, a/c not functioning, broken shower head, the system in the reception is always down so it takes ages to check in and they can't change rooms etc. The hotel is by a nice park but otherwise away from the center. Very limited room service menu - during covid I would expect more than 3 items on the menu...

A bit like the 90s

The room decor seems a bit outdated. They are comfortable but the interiors haven't changed a lot since the 90s (or maybe that's the idea, IDK). Anyway, what bothered me the most was the lack of power plugs or USB plugs close to the bed. I had to move the night table, disconnect the night lamp to have a space to charge my phone next to me during the night. The rooms could use a bit of the modern touchups.

Ok, but not premium at all.

I stayed here for business, primarily because a colleague I was travelling with collected points with this brand.

I had always seen this as a premium brand, and frankly was a little disappointed. The hotel was ok on the whole, but I've stayed in many that are better, for a fraction of the price.

It was ok. Nothing more. I'd rather save my company a few hundred quid and stay at one of the other hotels that I've stayed at previously.

All good apart from missed cleaning

The hotel was as you would expect from a Sheraton. Room was nice and modern, quiet and well placed in Essen. I think it may have just been an oversight but the toilet had clearly not been cleaned and there were hairs in the shower. I arrived too late at night to be bothered to make a fuss about it but this let the overall experience down.

Hotel needs some repairs

The shower in both our room and our friend's room was absolutely terrible due to broken shower heads. There was barely any Kleenex left in the box. There were no trashbags in the trash cans. The room was cold but that was because I didn't turn the heat on. Breakfast was really great and the location is amazing. Overall this hotel needs management to pay attention to some small details (shower function) and it will be great.

About seven minutes' walk from Essen Hauptbahnhof. Not signposted at all though. In a quiet area.
Breakfast was pricey at EUR 20. Would have liked USB sockets in room. Range of TV channels could have been better. Hard to criticise anything. Very comfortable.

The Sheraton was / is always a guarantor for great hospitality, in a town (my home town) with less selection.
Next to the Saalbau ( a place of culture) and its park in the back, a great place to stay,
but service in some ways could improve.
valet parking seems to be \"unkown\".. maybe not a local issue
but if I have to wait 5mins, get my bar menue, and get my order paced after further 5minutes of no attention to me and my wife, is a of concern... (maybe the UEFA game was more exiting)...
on the other hand, the staff at breakfast, fulfilled my wishes even before I expressed them. a great pleasure to be served like that. in a very polite way

Convenient but pricey business-oriented hotel.

Good business hotel in a nice part of Essen town. Surprisingly for a business-oriented hotel, there was no free wifi in the room and the breakfast buffet was a pricey 29 euros. Overall its a nice hotel with good facilities and very close to parks, cultural centers and major offices in the area and has good connectivity to the railway network from the nearby central station.

The hotel was fine, though there were certain touches that made it a bit uncomfortable. They don't have top sheets on the bed (though I guess that's a German thing). Our window stuck so we couldn't open it anymore, and the hotel started blasting heat. Other than that, it was a very nice hotel.

Great Location for Essen Spiel

The staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful, the room a bit dowdy and musty but with windows open that was not a big issue. The room decor was not my style but again I am nit picking. Overall I would be very happy to use the hotel again especially if I obtained a club level room.

This was our first and last stay at this hotel. It seems it was built in the 80s and has not been updated since. Parking is expensive, the elevator from the garage (if you can find it) barely holds two people without luggage (yes - its' that small), and despite having booked a king-bed we got two single beds.
The one good thing was breakfast, although at 29EUR a pop it wasn't exactly cheap.

I chose this hotel because of the Sheration name and the deal on offer. However....

Dirty sheets, dirty cups and used coffee capsules on arrival. Not changed across two nights. Strange attitude over credit cards, demanding cards after the hotel was paid in advance. Very expensive internet at 19€ per day based upon 24 hour clock and not on a person's stay. The TV options and indoor facilities are poor and not maintained properly, making the indoor entertainment fairly useless.

Expensive for what was 3 star facilities. A business hotel at best and not really geared up for a couple on a city short break.

Overpriced, in need of a refurb, not a 5* hotel

Stayed here whilst attending a conference at Essen Messe. Prices were suitably jacked up as they know they'll get the business during a large event. Breakfast not included in room rate and price was 30 eur !, room had a new bathroom but was otherwise dated and in need of refurbishment. Definitely not what you would expect of the Sheraton brand I doubt I would stay here again.

The hotel was clean and comfortably appointed. The only discomfort was caused by the hotel shutting down their air conditioning for fall when the temperatures were still quite warm. Made for restless nights. The staff found fans that helped pull air through the partially opened window. Beautiful gardens behind the hotel. Breakfast was very expensive. The Ruttenscheider Strasse strip of restaurants and shops was very close by and made for nice walking. Subway was super convenient.

The gym is very small and out of date. There is no longer a swimming pool at the hotel, they however do have nice sauna and steam room area. The bathroom was clean but does look a bit dated. Breakfast was very expensive for the quality of the food, nice tea range and the bread was lovely.

Essen Sheraton is hard to beat!

We were visiting Messe Essen for the Techno Classica show so the Sheraton was perefectly placed being south of the city centre, 3-4 U-bahn stops from the exhibition centre (Messe).
The hotel sure lived up to its 5* billing with friendly, helpful staff, classy reception area and our room was large and comfortable and spotlessly clean. It seems as though the hotel is embarking on a 'top to bottom' refurb and although we were in a 1st floor room, the quality of the fittings and fabrics were still excellent.
The only gripe? Food prices in the hotel restaurant, plus a lack of staff in the restaurant meant you were kept waiting for food, and when it came the food was just average - a bit 'hit and miss'. Room service was excellent and the food good but v-pricey! No worries though, as there are plenty of good, local restaurants for guests to eat out at night.
Highly recommended.

I will definitely return to the Sheraton in Essen, the staff made the whole experience a complete pleasure.T he service was discreet and friendly , but not over the top .We were given a fabulous room ,with comfortable beds and everything worked. One example of the service is that I told the barman that I liked wasabi peanuts and when I next went down to the bar for a drink he had filled a bowl with them for me! great wine selection too!We will definitely return

Rooms are under renovation. The day we arrived we had a room on the first floor (not renewed). The bedspreads were torn and the carpet too. I asked the person at the front desk for another room and told me that no more rooms were available (I do not believe). The next day we had a different room. It was like being in two different hotels. Just stay in renewed rooms.

Ein schön und praktisch gelegenes Hotel mit freundlichem Personal, wo allerdings die Zimmer und Housekeeping viel zu wünschen übrig lassen. Die Tür unseres Zimmers sah so aus als wäre sie einmal mit Gewalt aufgebrochen worden, wobei der Sicherheitshebel abgebrochen ist und nie ersetzt worden. An einem Tag sind die Zimmer gar nicht gemacht worden, abwohl wir zweimal angerufen haben. Die Klimaanlage konnte nicht wirklich eingestellt werden und der Minikühlschrank war schmutzig. Eine ziemliche Enttäuschung für ein Hotel dieser Marke.

Der Fitnessraum hat gute Technogym Geräte, die allerdings auf kleinstem Raum zusammengepfercht sind.

Slechte ervaring. De airco staat op 12 mei nog steeds op de winterstand. Dat betekent dat hij uit staat. Personeel weigert om de airco aan te zetten, omdat het van \"de chef\" niet mag. Kamer lijkt op het eerste gezicht schoon, maar er zitten vieze bruine vlekken op het linnengoed van het bed. Ook de douchekop spuit door lekkage meer opzij dan naar beneden.

I have booked two rooms for my family for two nights, the rooms were not clean, saw spider in one of the rooms, sink and drain was clogged in both rooms. I have had such bad experience in Sheraton and I do not recommend it. I myself have been to several other Sheraton in different countries but the worst was in Essen

Das Sheraton ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen für heutige Standards. Jeder vom Personal gibt sein Bestes, die Zimmer sind okay, aber sehr hellhörig (Standardzimmer).
Ideal ist der überdachte Weg in die Philharmonie, das ist auch der \"Schatz\" vom Sheraton. Ein typisches Business-Haus.

Freundliches Personal. Leider war die Dusche teilweise defekt. Nach der Zimmerreinigung wurde das Fenster offen gelassen, so dass es Abends nicht besonders warm im Zimmer war. Es ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß, dass auf dem Zimmer kein freies WLAN angeboten wird ohne einem Club beitreten zu müssen.
