Massively disappointing service. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy in place before 3pm. However I had a two night booking but after check in I had an issue back home abroad and told the hotel staff I had to go because of an emergency. They said no one was there to help advise on the cancellation. In effect had I two separate bookings for the two nights I could have cancelled it automatically but because it was a two night booking, even though I gave more than 24 hours notice, they wouldn’t do anything. Really poor and unnecessarily greedy under the circumstances. Hotels.com even tried calling them to see would they help because of the extenuating circumstances and the notice given, but no. Shame on your hotel

I visit Essen annually and this is my 7th stay at the Atlantic as it is supposed to be the best hotel in Essen, well Essen needs to do better.
Hotel décor is tired and need of a major uplift. The pillows were excruciating uncomfortable - like sleeping on two air filled rocks. The TV in room is a first generation flatscreen that is small and I am pretty sure the range of channels reduced from my last stay (for a business hotel, some English options please).
Positives continue to be location next to the Grugapark which is great for morning run (when the gates are open and can enter for free) and near Rüttenscheid which is where all best places to eat are. The breakfast buffet is very good. Staff still excellent, especially Thomas in the bar who was very friendly and attentive.

We booked through Expedia for a business trip specifically to the IPM trade show. This trade show was cancelled due to COVID. This was not our fault nor our choice. We tried to change our dates several times & your representatives initially replied but never returned with an answer. We found your service unprofessional. The root of many terrible customer experiences is a company that is happy to collect money from a transaction but not to accept responsibility when things go wrong. Your reluctance to respond & sticking rigidly to policies, even when they make no sense in a given context, is a classic customer service failure.

Ich bin jedes Jahr zur Messe in Essen und war bisher immer im Hotel Atlantis – doch dieses Mal war ich sehr enttäuscht. Das Personal an der Rezeption war ausgesprochen unfreundlich. Beim Checkout wurde mir bestätigt, dass nichts offen sei. Als ich jedoch aus dem Parkhaus fahren wollte, öffnete sich die Schranke nicht und ich wurde aufgefordert, den Parkplatz zu bezahlen. Trotz meiner Nachfrage wurde ich beim Check-in bzw. Checkout nicht darauf hingewiesen.
Als ich dies an der Rezeption ansprach, wurde ich weder ernst genommen noch freundlich behandelt. Statt Verständnis wurde ich ausgelacht und mir wurde gesagt, dass eine schlechte Bewertung „auch nichts mehr ausmacht“. Dieses Verhalten ist für ein Hotel absolut inakzeptabel.
Ich werde das Hotel künftig nicht mehr buchen und kann es aufgrund des schlechten Services nicht weiterempfehlen.

Leider war das Hotel eigene Parkhaus voll, ich musste auf dem öffentlichen Parkplatz parken. Da eine Messe war habe ich 36€ bezahlt für weniger als 24h. Leider gibt es keine Vergünstigung für Hotelgäste.

Das Hotel liegt direkt neben der Gruga Halle. Sehr gut erreichbar mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Ausserdem gibt es vor dem Hotel winen sehr grossen Parkplatz. Das Frühstück ist sehr umfangreich. Von lactosefreier Milch, über frisches geschnittenes Obst bis hin zum frisch zubereitetem Omelette einfach toll.

Super Check In, tolles Zimmer (ganzes Hotel schien renoviert zu sein), sauberes Zimmer und der Höhepunkt war das gigantische Frühstück u.a. mit frischem Rührei, frischen Waffeln (auf Wunsch hin gemacht) und einer sehr großen Auswahl an Wurst, Käse, Yoghurt, etc...

Sehr gut organisierter und sehr freundlicher Empfang. Zimmer makellos sauber und angenehm geräumig. Matratzen sehr gut. Bad ebenfalls pieksauber. Sehr gute Dusche UND sehr gute Handtücher. Seife und Badezimmerkleinkram (einschließlich Nähset, wo gibt es das noch?) komplett vorhanden. Nachts war auf dem öffentlichen Parkplatz vor dem Hotel einiges los, was leider auch durch die geschlossenen Fenster kam. Fährt man am Hotel vorbei, kommt man weiter hinten noch zu einem kostenlosen Parkplatz mit E-Ladesäulen. WLAN funktionierte mit Buchungsnamen und Zimmernummer tadellos. Dicke Empfehlung. Ich komme wieder.
