Great stay… the view of Alhambra is an added bonus. 10 mts walk to most of the eateries and shopping. The people at the front desk were extremely helpful in getting to the place, giving guidance about the area and also ensuring I can drive in the area. Once you get over the anxiety of driving through narrow streets , it is an enjoyable location with lots of hiking options including 25 mts walk to Alhambra.

Fiasco! The hotel didn't provide the exact address and they did not respond to messages after 4:40 pm. The air conditioner did not work. They responded to our request for a repair with a \"crying emoji\"!!! When we insisted that we needed cool air, they said we had to wait until next morning. Mind you, this is Granada, 37 degrees, and we are a family with a child. Of course, no one showed up in the morning for a repair. The hotel advertises as having a washer (the main reason why we selected this place). The washer did not work (it was plugged but didn't even receive electricity). Noone around and they do not respond to messages \"after business hours.\" Since I had already put the detergent in, I had to handwash three people's dirty laundry of five days by hand! The only good thing about this hotel is the view of the Alhambra. Many other places have similar views.

The hotel did not respond to Expedia either, and Expedia is offering no help.

Stay somewhere else.

The room, courtyard & pill were great.
Granada is really hilly & this is a hike - just do you’re prepared.
Parking is hard in this area, not just an issue with the property.

Amazing view of the Alhambra palace, with a great terrace and pool for relaxing on a hot afternoon, or soaking in the view with a glass of wine at night. Navigating the neighborhood can be challenging if arriving by car. The apartment was comfortable and spacious for 2 people on a vacation, but we noticed the Wi-Fi was a bit spotty if you were hoping to work remotely. It was so nice to stay in a bit more off the beaten path but still be walkable to everywhere in this wonderful city.

Apartamentos Montesclaros is a really lovely, simple, well-kept, extremely hospitable place to stay in Granada. It's located in the area travelers walk to for views of the surrounding beauty and history. And you can stay in a beautifully furnished cave that is part of the apartment complex! If you are differently abled, the property is equipped to assist you, but getting to the property is uphill and the steep, narrow roads are cobblestone. We loved our stay at Apartamentos Montesclaros and would happily recommend it to our friends.

At the entrance of Sacromonte……..Granada!

This is my second stay at Apartamentos Montesclaros. I was traveling with a friend that is older than me so going up and down the stairs to get in and out of the apartment was challenging for her. But that is also part of the charm of Granada. Just the fact that you are in a cave where a displaced and persecuted people made their own is amazing. The checkin was simple, more than courteous and fast. The room was amazing. Neat and orderly with little snacks in a basket and all the fixings for a great cup of coffee to drink on the terrace while pondering La Alhambra. Amazing view of that. I will probably always stay at Montesclaros on any future visits and I always recommend it to my friends.

location - the best !

THE BEST LOCATION right in front of the Alhambra - a great little pool and team is very attentive to your needs (morning shift only as apartments).

Situated in the hills of Montesclaro, it will take your legs for a proper stretch as you walk down to river level and then to the city or the Alhambra herself. The view at nighttime is stunning.

Our room was on the bijou size and the aircon worked a treat. Enjoyed our breakfast or a read in the courtyard just a couple of steps from our door.

Internet a bit temperamental and parking MUST be booked during tourist season as very limited spaces on that is effectively a road leading to the Monastery. Note narrow road and you will be on the lookout for a location where to turn your car around. But if the local bus (a lifesaver at the end of the day if your legs say 'enough') can turn around.... enjoyed our stay.

The apartment had everything we needed for our 3 night stay in Granada. The location was perfect to visit the Alhambra and other parts of Granada as well. But beware, the area is hilly if you plan on walking.

This is THE place you should stay in Granada.

Unobstructed 180 degree view of the Alhambra.
Eating and drinking areas with panoramic vistas. Buy some sangria and nibbles and your afternoon is set.
Close to everything including walking distance to Alhambra.

Wonderful, helpful staff...very trustworthy..came running down to the taxi as she found my earrings.

The room, what a lovely treat.
Separate bedroom and a lounge.
Heating and cooling.
Fully stocked kitchen, welcome basket of goodies for a cup of tea after sightseeing.
Lashings of hot water with towels so white you'll need sunglasses.
Very quiet.

Cons: about 15 stairs from road to gate then more to first floor.
Not a problem for me and my backpack but my friend had a shipping container for a suitcase ...hope it taught her a lesson.

Get the Alhambra view and you will never regret it. The most gorgeous view I have had in a hotel/condo. Nice staff. East access to alhambra and centro (walking). The directions to this place were very difficult, so leave plenty of time.

Great Granada views & base

The location is amazing - 10 minute walk down the hill to downtown Granada and a vista across the valley to the magical Alhambra. The rooms were small, but our suite came with appliances to allow for an extended stay. Wish we could have stayed longer and taken advantage of the courtyard, terrace, and pool. It is very challenging to get to in a car, but a rewarding destination.

Stunning ,one of the best views I have ever had,and we have been traveling all over for over 40 years.That Alhambra View is just mágica,day or night.The cave was fantastic,in its arabo/andaluz simplicity.The girls that run it,Hata and Gabriela go out of their way to be helpful.I also met the owner,lovely lady.We know Granada very well and the Albaicín and Sacromonte are the “soul” of the city.Even if sometimes it is rather a challenge to walk around due to the steep cobblestone streets,it is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world.What else can I possibly say?.

Excellent spot for seeing the Alahambra with a view from it’s balconies. We especially appreciated the good advice from the woman at the reception desk. It allowed us to not miss out on our visit of Alahambra plus waste time trying to find the train when it wasn’t running.

Amazing Views

Absolutely wonderful view of the Alhambra. Breathtaking at night. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Accommodations are small but organized well and quite comfortable. This apartment is right on the street where the Flamenco cave clubs are located and up the hill from the old part of Granada. No car is needed as everything is a walk or a bus ride. Just be prepared for lots of uphill walking. The bus stop is close to the apartment. Parking is available on street but the street was quite narrow. The host recommended a parking lot a good walk away for 8 euros per night which we were happy to pay for safety.

This regular, ordinary apartments have a great view of the Alhambra, particularly from the small dirty pool. We were greeded with a nice welcome basket, but I had to write to the property five times prior to our arrival because they were unwilling to have someone there on a Sunday evening. It is true that it is within walking distance to the Alhambra, but other, better, less expensive properties are also in the area.

Overall great but needs a new sofa bed!

Everything was great! We loved the pool, the view, and Manuela was very helpful. Our only issue was the pull out sofa in apartment 1 (not a cave apartment) was not comfortable because some of the springs were broken. It should really be replaced. But overall, a really great place to stay and we would stay there again.

Good location, great view of the Alhambra.

The apartment was unique but very very damp, we had to use a noisy dehumidifier or leave the door open.

It is difficult to access as driving through the area is restricted! You have to get your car registered or risk a fine! The car parking is NOT free and it NOT close. It is a 15 minute walk! Not what yo want with bags in 42 degree heat.

Overall nice place but more upfront information would be useful for the price!

Outstanding views

Apartamentos Montesclaros is a small exclusive group of 7 apartments. At the top of Albaicin, or bottom of SacroMonte (depending on how you look at it). The area is atmospheric (scruffy) and noisy at night, but that may be exactly why you chose it! We paid a bit extra for the Alhambra view and it was REALLY worth it. Only two of the 7 apartments have a full view. Two other modern apartments have side windows only. The three cave apartments would give you a limited view out of their front doors. But all seven have access to a courtyard with tables and chairs, a small swimming pool deck, and a sofa veranda, all the open-air shared spaces have great views of Alhambra.Highly recommended. Don't drive here unless you can follow the owner's instructions exactly! And can drive down very narrow alleys! Albaicin is mad! Wouldn't have missed it though.

Character and wine!

Enjoyed staying there. The bottle of wine, fresh fruit and goodies were a nice, thoughtful touch.
The sheltered rooftop terrace was delightful for relaxing and reading; the view was exceptional and the staff friendly and helpful. Noemi and Manuela. I think that was her name. French and very sweet.
Yes, it was difficult to find and we got lost in the city before finding our way to Sacramento but that was part of the adventure!

Amazing View of the Alhumbra

Most amazing view of the Alhumbra! Easy walking distance to most sites in the city and right near some great restaurants. Staying in a cave (albeit a painted and comfortably furnished one) was one of the highlights of our trip! Only downfall was the drive in through narrow cobble streets. Hotel provides a map as GPS leads you onto \"forbidden\" streets, so make sure the driver is ready for a rather tough drive in! If I came back I would stay in these apartments again.

Definitely read the email instructions of how to get there, there is no way of finding this place without it!

A hidden gem with breathtaking Alhambra views

This is our 5th visit to Granada and our second stay at Apartamentos Montesclaros. This may not be a 5* hotel, with 24 hr reception....however, the setting and friendly staff is perfect if you want to combine uninterrupted views across to the Alhambra, with outside space to get away from the crowds with terrace and plunge pool. Tucked out of the way in Sacramonte....you need a little extra energy to walk up the hills to stay...but so worth it. Family and couple friendly, quiet and beautiful. Great outside restaurants close by in several squares and a beautiful new bar down by the river, serving nuveau tapas...

Good but pool disappointing

Overall this was great - position, view of the Alhambra, apartment was lovely. Service was brilliant.
However I do think the difficult access (narrow lane and lots of steps) should be highlighted.
In addition it is far too much of a stretch to call the pool a swimming pool - impossible to swim in it! That was a major disappointment.
Breakfast consisted of dry biscuits in the room
It was good, but a tad expensive for what you got.

Lovely apartment with a superb view

We received a warm and friendly welcome at this lovely apartment situated in the old and atmospheric quarter of town with superb views across the valley to the Alhambra Palace.This property is unusual in the area, having a large outside terrace plus other sitting areas, shared between 5 or 6 rooms. Everything was in good working order, well maintained and clean. A stock of essential supplies (coffee, sugar, cakes etc) was provided on arrival. The area was quiet at night. You can easily walk to most of the main sights in town within 15/20 minutes. An important tip is to book for the Palace well in advance. Also, if sold out, try the Granada City Card (bono touristico) available from a different website as this has 500 places allocated per day. The card also includes 5 bus trips which can be helpful getting you back up the hill to Montes Claros at the end of the day. The C1 and C2 buses run nearby very regularly. It's not practical to use a car except for arrival and departing.

amazing location! alhambra views!

this hotel was fabulous because it is in a very hip area--the \"gypsy\" quarter with winding narrow cobbled streets with tiny shops and great restaurants filled with life, great food, and local color! it is a 15 minute walk to town but there is also a bus. the rooms have kitchens and sitting areas and there are also outdoor tables so you can have your meals or wine at midnight overlooking spectacular views of the alhambra. there is a small pool that was welcome because the weather was hot. while lounging in the pool or on the deck chairs you also have an amazing view of granada's most famous site!
the owners are 2 young brothers that are sweet and helpful.

Warm and friendly greeting from the lovely staff. The cave was very authentic and well appointed. The nature of this type of accomodation means some people will find it less comfortable than a typical modern hotel, but we found staying here to be a great experience!

Historic caves, amazing view

Beautiful, historic caves, spectacular view, great price. But, the directions were wrong, and there was no way to contact the front desk; also no note that there is quite the climb of rugged stairs prior to making the reservation. So for older people like me, it was a rough time getting to it. It's worth the climb, but there should be a warning about lack of accessibility and there should be accurate driving directions prior to clicking the booking button.

Good view, difficult location, hike to parking!

Recently stayed two nights. Room is basic, not fancy despite being told I was upgraded to a superior unit. Two small twin beds. The desk is not staffed at night so they sent an email to call when we arrive. Unfortunately from US, had no cell service and could not call. Given directions in poor English that were impossible to follow. Streets are extremely narrow and full of foot traffic. Was therefore late to estimated arrival time and the access gait was locked and staff was gone! Now no phone, no staff, and no parking! Eventually after about 1 mile hike with luggage, got phone assistance at the 4th business I asked. Staff did come rapidly to open the gait and was very apologetic. Then showed me back another 800 meters to the correct parking lot up a steep dirt hill. Altogether spent over 2 hours just trying to get checked in! Not worth the aggravation!

Fabulous view over Alhambra.

A charming retreat in the prettiest part of town. Small pool but with stunning view. Very helpful friendly staff. Kitchen had all you would need with a useful welcome pack including milk. I will recommend it to my friends.

Amazing experience!

What a great and memorable stay this was! The staff couldn't have been friendlier and more accommodating. The view of the Alhambra from the hotel was breathtaking and staying in the Secret Cave was an experience to remember. The room was well-furnished and had everything we needed. Great location in walking distance to the Alhambra and Plaza Nueva. A bit damp, but I think that comes with staying in a cave and we had the dehumidifier going, so it wasn't an issue. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

Amazing views and a unique stay in a cave

We had some initial trouble finding the place (especially with our Google Navigation directions), however managed to get a free street park for our rental car nearby. Once checked in things were very smooth, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, giving us tips and even helping us do our laundry for free. We stayed in one of the caves, which I highly recommend - it stayed nice and cool during the day, like it was naturally air-conditioned. There's a kitchenette so you can cook your own meals, and everything was very clean and charminngly decorated. It's a short walk down the hill toward shops and restaurants in the Albayzin quarter, but the absolute highlight must be the amazing view of the Alhambra from the common patio (and pool). They say the walk to the Alhambra takes 30 mins but we took about 15-20 only, so it's very handy. Being able to take in the views while cooling off in the pool was a major plus too. If you're visiting Granada, I would highly recommend staying here !

Unique Apartment Hotel with Fantastic Views

Beautiful views of Alhambra from the hotel. Short walk to Alhambra and other sites including a very good Flamenco dinner show. The \"cave\" motiff was very unique but my allergies became a problem and although the service was really good, they are only open for 3-4 hours a day.

The most exquisite view of The Alhambra

The apartment has a wonderful view of The Alhambra. The staff were very helpful and accommodating (waiting for us to arrive at quarter to midnight!).
The apartment whilst simply furnished, was very clean, and had all the basics. A very welcome touch was some fresh milk in the fridge!
It is located up a reasonably steep hill (taxis are inexpensive and plentiful), but close to the central area.
It's a wonderful place to base your stay in Granada, we would go back there in an instant.

the place was great but alas hotels.com let us down because they ddnt advise the owner we were arriving so we had over an hour wait outside the hotel waiting for the owner who was contacted by a lovely neighbour who also gave us water, it was a sweltering hot day... so despite hotels.com letting us down the place itself was brilliant

Nice spot in Albaicin

I stayed with my brother in the regular twin apartment.
So we did not \"cave\" in one of the more exotic rooms.
The twin apartment is a bit small, with a stovetop, microwave, and fridge.
We used all of them one night after picking up groceries along Acera Del Darro.

The apartment is nicely decorated.
The common patio area outside has plenty of tables and chairs.
It's a nice place to relax in the evening.
A small swimming pool is at the top of the property.
We had no problems with WiFi, Skyping, etc.

The location is fairly high up on the hill, in the old part of the gypsy quarter.
The view is magnificent, directly opposite the Alhambra.
We did not have a car, so we did not have to deal with parking.
You may not feel like making the climb more than twice in one day.
The #31 city bus-van also travels through the Albaicin.

The staff were friendly and helpful, with somewhat limited English-speaking ability. We had no problem understanding each other, however.

The staff are not on-site all of the time. And the property is gated.
So you may need to make arrangements for arrival time or if you store your bags on departure day.

The walk down to Plaza Nueva is 5 minutes; the Cathedral and Gran Via thoroughfare are another 7 minutes. We walked down and uphill to the Alhambra ticket office in about 20 minutes.

Evening Flamenco spots are a short walk away.
Saturday evening was relatively quiet in this neighborhood.

Best spot in Granada.

The perfect spot for any Granada visit! Amazing views from the balcony and pool o the Alhambra palaces. Rooms were comfortable, spacious and well maintained- we stayed in one of the caves which was such a cool experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone who wants a truly special experience for a very reasonable price.

This was a great place. The cool plunge pool with views of the Alhambra was a great place to end the afternoon. It is a long uphill walk but that is par for the course in Granada. The area, apartments and staff were charming.

Wonderful view!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Stunning views of the Alhambra and very helpful and friendly service. Good location - on the edge of Albaicin and not far from the Alhambra. Staying in the cave was an experience too - a little clammy but a de-humidifier was helpfully provided - and very quiet and peaceful. We would definitiely recommend these apartments.
