We arrived at 2 pm. We don’t get the room till 8 pm! We were told 10 more minutes every time. We left and came back at 5 and it still wasn’t ready. Again we were told any moment now. We left again, coming back at 7.30 and waited till 8 to get the room finally. Wasted our entire day. Absolute disaster.

Cool room layout, with a nice view overlooking the stream running through town. The view of the Alhambra was limited, but the view in general was charming. Walls were a bit thin, but in general the hotel was quiet. Great and very helpful staff. Superb adjoining coffee place with great food.

The balcony overlooking the pedestrian walk and river was very watchable at night, as was the view up to Al Hambra.

Only one issue was the strange light above the door that we had to drape something over so it didn't keep us up all night. Everything else was fantastic.
They were even nice enough to hold our bags for us while we toured Alhambra, even though we checked out in the morning.

Every time we come to Granada, we stay here. When my wife and I eloped in Granada, it was this hotel that we stayed at. The suite has the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in since being in Europe. Everyone on the staff are professionals and so nice. We will always stay at Hotel Shine each and every time we come to Granada, our home away from home.

This hotel has a lot of atmosphere and character and is very well located opposite the Alhambra, many small restaurants and cafes and easy walking distance to the center of town. The front desk team are very enthusiastic about sharing their recommendations. One caution is to be wary about the rooms opening onto the inner courtyard. We moved to another room after the first of our 4 night stay and paid the extra to upgrade which we thought was well worth it. Overall a great hotel with wonderful staff.

An excellent choice for those who want to be in the center of Granada. It is a short walk to the main plaza where all the buses, dinning, & shopping take place. Step out of the main entrance, look up and you see Alhambra. Reception desk hours are 9 am to 7 pm. They send you instructions on how to enter the hotel after hours. I arrived 11 pm and had no problem getting in. I highly recommend you take a taxi from the airport as they know where to drop you off. I used Uber and the driver dropped me off at the wrong location and I had to find the hotel on my own. If you are at the taxi stop at the airport and there is no taxi, wait and within 5 min a taxi will come. You don't need to order one.

We only stayed here one night but wished we had stayed longer as there is so much to do and see in Granada. The hotel is located near the major attractions and there are numerous transportation options in close proximity should you want to make use of those, as well as a large number of restaurants. The hotel offers good accommodations at a very reasonable price. The real quality of a hotel is its staff and in this case you will find they shine. They were highly responsive and in our case promptly took care of an issue that was due entirely to an error on our part. It is easy to be good when things are going well the true mark is how situations are handled. The team at this hotel were outstanding. My thanks to all the staff for a great stay. We will certainly stay here again if our travels bring us back to Granada.

The hotel is right in the heart of the Albaicin neighborhood with lots of shopping and restaurants. The hotel is small but so amazing. We stayed in 2 different Shine properties in Granada and liked both of them. Helpful, English speaking staff, and longer checkin hours than some Spanish places. Good showers. We liked our bed, kids didn’t like theirs as much. First place on Elvira had bedrooms down a spiral staircase and the kids loved that. Place on the river had beautiful lit view of Alhambra at night. My son felt like he was sleeping on the street with all the noise and not much insulation (typical). We had interior room and it was nice.

This hotel was just perfect, with the right balance between being charming and comfortable. As you enter, you are greeted with a courtyard, completely forgetting where you are. The receptionist (I forget her name) was super friendly and one of the nicest hotel staff I've encountered. We were upgraded to a suite for a small extra fee (totally worth it). The room itself was really large, with traditional furniture, two working air conditioning units (which seems to be a luxury in European hotels) and perfect views of the Alhambra. Though, I'd have been equally happy with a smaller room without views, because the biggest advantage of this hotel is it's location. It's on one of the main streets of the neighborhood, which trust me, is very needed, because cars cannot go to other places which means you'd have to walk up steps or hills with your luggage. Given it's location, you can call Uber, taxi or take the bus from right near the hotel. You can walk to the Alhambra, to anywhere in Albaysin, Sacramonte or to city center. We loved it and wish we had another couple of days here. Most hotels seem to get a 4 star rating for the frills (like a separate concierge desk) but I found this hotel better than most 4 stars we stayed at though it officially has a 3 star rating.

Hotel staff got our room ready well ahead of normal check in, as we were on an early flight in to Granada. The room was tidy and well stocked. The staff was attentive and polite. The facility is gorgeous, with a central atrium open to the sky. There is a separate catering service immediately attached to the hotel. The location was central and scenic but not too noisy. Note that there is no parking onsite nor nearby.

We were looking forward to this place as the pics online were awesome and it boasts 12 apts. While we appreciate the local charm and how close it is to Alhambra, two things stuck out to us. 1) The bathroom has a foul odor as it stems from the smell of the local water supply. 2) The room could have been more clean as the bed sheets was a tad sandy.

Disappointed in the quality and cleanliness
We stayed in one of the apartments and were very disappointed in the quality. The bathroom and kitchen smelled of mildew and sewage, and the place could use a serious deep clean ... filthy couches, dead cockroaches in the back of the closet, mold in the shower... The walls are paper thin, so if you are facing the street or have noisy apartment neighbors (we had both), don’t plan on sleeping. The property itself has lots of potential and beautiful old architecture - it’s just too bad that it’s not better kept.
That being said, it is in a very good (albeit touristy) location as long as you’re willing to walk a little from the main building. We were able to access all of the major sights by foot, including the Alhambra. The staff was also very kind and helpful and were happy to print train tickets, call us a taxi, etc.

Staying at the Albayzin apartment was the worst part of our Spain trip. We had booked two nights so that we could tour the Alhambra and visit in Granada. This dark, creepy apartment is located up the hill from the hotel. I fell flat on my face when we entered because there are two steps.Next we noticed an odor. Once inside of our apartment it was musty and warm. The next morning after hardly any sleep at all because of the odor we showered and realized the drains were backing up. We immediately called the desk and asked if we could be changed into a different room. They said they would address the problem while we were visiting the Alhambra. We got back and no one had been in the room and no repairs were done. We packed our bags and left because there were no rooms available in the hotel. I have not received any communication from Albayzin hotel nor a refund. I do not recommend this hotel in Granada
