My friend and I stayed in a private tatami room. The view of the mountains, trees, and a little bit of the town below was beautiful. The room was clean and quiet. The futon were a little thin (I have slept on many as I live in Japan), and both my friend and I had poor sleep because of it.
The downstairs common areas are also very clean and beautifully decorated.
The staff were friendly and explained the space clearly.
In the onsen, there wasn't a clear or large enough sign that you need to clean yourself before entering the bath. Unfortunately, this meant that guests who were unfamiliar with the custom entered the bath unwashed. The bath water was quite dirty. This could easily be fixed with a few large signs and explanation during the tour. The shower rooms were very clean.

This wonderful hostel was a delightful surprise and the onsen really was an added bonus with its outer pool! With a bit of planning, you can take a local bus or use your Hakone Free Pass to be dropped off within a block of the hostel from the train station. Great staff, great accommodations and fully enjoyed my stay!

Very helpful staff. The place is located 20min walk from yumoto station. But the walk is very tiring as it is uphill. Bus access is not very good. The staff did help with reserving a cab. Everything else was amazing!

K's was a very budget-friendly option for our family of four. It was a fun experience staying in the traditional Japanese room, but we did opt for an private bathroom. I didn't realise at the time of booking that the shower facilities were still shared, but this wasn't a problem (and even a bit quicker having 2 showers to use between us vs having one in our bathroom). Futons were fine to sleep on.
The view from the shared lounge area was gorgeous, and so were the surrounds. It is a little bit of a walk, and the hill is really steep, so catch the bus if you can! This was really the only downside of the property we thought - that it is a moderate way out of town, so make use of the property's free umbrella loan if you might be trekking back in the rain!!
We didn't use the onsen, unfortunately, so I can't add anything further on that. It was lovely to be able to grab a brewed coffee during the morning (0730-100, I think, but I don't know why you would still be inside at 1100 rather than getting out to experience the stunning Hakone area!).

Used the hot spring for 10 mins , Got 7 places bitten by mosquitoes … the hot spring smell weird . The hotel toilet smells bad . It’s too old and did not properly maintain

Nice staff, clean and have free green tea and coffee. However there is no private bathroom in our room. The property is up the hill and very difficult to walk up with luggage. The bus runs every half hour from 7:30-8:00 am and then every hour after that. You have to call taxi after dinner near station.

It’s a bit off the beaten path so be ready to walk or take transportation to get to restaurants and sightseeing locations.

We loved our 2 night stay. Our ensuite room was clean, quiet and very comfortable in an excellent location. We really liked the Japanese feel with the mats on the floor and the roll out futon. Both inside and outside onsens were fantastic and a perfect temperature. The freshly made coffee in the mornings were really appreciated. Staff were very friendly, efficient and really helpful. Great stay! It has both indoor and outdoor onsen. A short walk to bus station, very convenient with Hakone pass to go around. Staff were very patient and helped us arrange the trip. Only wish we could stay longer!

It’s can get a bit of rowdy when you see too many people in the pantry, its convenience though where you can cook or heat up the food you have. Fridge is centralised for all to use. Just that it’s located up on the hill and when it’s raining, be prepared to get drenched when you are walking to Hakone Yumoto station.

The best hostel with an onsen! Super clean, well kept, and friendly staff. The outdoor onsen was the best day to end the night. I would definitely come back to stay here again. The distance from the station to the hostel was a bit steep of a walk but provides good exercise. Super close to the bus stops as well.

We really wanted to like this place, but got all bitten by bedbugs. This was our first encounter with bedbugs. We saw a tiny bug on our mattress crawling, didn't think much of it due to it's tiny size. Looks like a tiny stink bug, and was very hard to kill the bug. When finally squished, it smelled like stinkbug. Our daughter got bit the worst, and the itch lasted for 2-3 weeks and still have scars after 2 months. Location is a little far from the train station. The rooms were good size, nice view. Nice bath area

It's a little far away from Hakone-Yumoto Station but there's a bus stop nearby that takes you there. Overall it was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even spoke English which was an added bonus.

We really liked that place! Nice lounge, nice onsen, nice kitchen and nice dorm/bed. Also, the place was extremely clean, I don't think I have ever been in an hostel that clean. The place is a little bit out of center from Yumoto but there is a bus line just in front of the hostel. Really nice location if you intend to visit the Hakone region. Would definitely recommend.

we loved this hostel! was the best place we slept in our trip (and we also went to far more expensive hotels). Does not matter if it's a top of a hill and you have to walk a bit to get there. It's super nice, super friendly, the Onsen is peaceful and you have pine trees above you, in front of the hostel there is a nice old style restaurant, with local food. It's overall one of my fondest memories of japan.

The stay at k’s house Hakone was over all pleasant. Place was cleaning. The onsens were nice. The bed was comfortable. Location wasn’t too bad, 15 min walk from train station (but you do have to claim up hill for a bit)
One thing I would like to mention about this place is that the smoking area is right next to the lunge. When people smoke outside even with door closed, you can still smell it.
I think it can be a cultural thing. In Japan they are more tolerating to smokers.
The other thing is that the dorm room is not very well ventilated. Even they have air conditioning in the room. When there are 6 to 8 people in a small space. It is going to smell a little bit. Management does not allow people to eat in the room. But people do anyway, so it can add funny smell to the environment. However, odor didn’t sustain there for very long.
BTW, dorm room is for both male and female. There is no male only dorm but they do have female only dorm available.

This is just a small typical Japanese Onsen Hostel house. It's not very near to the Hakone-Yumoto Station, you can walk about 15 mins to reach the station. But it's will be very challenging to walk up hill towards this hostel from the Hakone-Yumoto Station. Nothing fantastic, onsen will open after 4pm only, you need to pay for towels, no complimentary bottles of water, no house keeping if you are staying for more than 2 nights. Just an experience to stay in an Onsen house. And one more thing, the hotel reception closed at 21.00pm and please inform the house if you are coming in late as there will be no bus service from Hakone-Yumoto station after 20.05pm, you need to take a taxi or walk up hill to the house. The reception staffs are doing their usual job and not exactly helpful towards guests when we ask for direction/transport to places of interest. Well, maybe this is how part-timers works...Maybe we can get another place at the same rate closer and provide better hospitality better than this hostel.

Staying at hostels as a solo traveler is the way to go! There was a great area for socializing, which many of us did. The onsen bathing area, especially the outside pool, was outstanding. The bed was comfortable. The front desk people were fluent in several languages, and very helpful in providing information of how to get to certain places. It was very clean. The kitchen and dining areas were nice and well organized. All in all a great experience, especially for being a hostel.

I had a nice stay at K's House in Hakone. I stayed one night and it was perfect. The hostel is clean, has friendly staff, all that you need and walkable distance from the station. You can also take a bus which will leave you 2 mins walk from the hostel (K line). Also, the terrace has a nice view.

Conveniently located and nice hostel
This hostel is not too far from the railway station, Hakone Yumoto. Once you get used to the local bus routes and the timetable, it is very convenient to travel. Walking from the station to the hostel is a bit tiring because the latter part of the journey is uphill, but walking to the station is easy and takes about 15 minutes. I took a taxi from the station to the hostel on first arrival, and the journey was 730 yen. Inside the hostel, the staff were friendly. Check-in was quick. The kitchen is clean and utensils are plentiful. It is convenient to make one's dinner or eat your take-away in the dining area. The common room is large and cozy.

Pleasant cubicle hotel experience
Clean facilities, comfortable bedding. The onsen hotel is located uphill and it was quite hard to get there if you have a lot of luggage. The is a bus every 30 minutes which will take you nearer to the hotel from the main street though, unfortunately I was not informed of this. For your info, there are no lockers to store your luggage and most of the guests placed them on the not-so wide aisle within the room. The hotel only offers free coffee daily, you can buy and store your food in the fridge. An average convenience store is not near though. Shower facilities are available if you do not want to visit the onsen.

The staff are young and friendly. One such is Kei who shared many great insights making you feel much at home. Facilities are new, well provided with basic shower, shampoo, conditioner and air dryer provided. Have an excellent kitchen for you to cook your meal if you missed home cooked meal. All condiments, cutleries and kitchen utensils are provided. Freshly brewed coffee or tea to help yourself. Shared dormentary, showers and toilets are super clean. Nice lounge space and every dining tables come with it’s own heater. Air is fresh and hostel is well heated. It has Onsen in-house and a nice experience to end your tiring day of sightseeing. Great view from the lounge. You don’t feel like staying in a hostel but a community of new friends you just met - Kei, Ian and the travellers.

Great budget accommodation in the Hakone area
While it is a bit far (and uphill) from the train station, this hostel is a great place to stay if you are traveling on a budget. It seems to have been renovated less than a year ago, so everything is in great condition and the place is kept impressively clean. I stayed in a room with six futons. The views of the valley are amazing. Only got to try the outdoor onsen which I would rate it 7/10.

Good, Friendly Hostel in Hakone
About a kilometer out of Hakone-Yumoto town, there is only one restaurant and one convenience store nearby (another one is a bit farther away). But it's a very good hostel for what it is. Clean with good facilities and good service. The common room is available all night, and a friendly crowd wound up having a little party in there when I stayed. But it was all right if you just wanted to sleep as well - the common room is well-isolated from the bedrooms.

An uphill walk to a very clean hostel
The city of Hakone has lots of hills which we did not anticipate. So we were in for quite a surprise when we starting walking to the hostel from the main train station. The rest of the dorm setup is like a capsule hotel, so you can get your \"room\" a bit more dark than the double-bed \"room\"

Fantastic Hostel
This hostel is of a very high standard. It has spacious, comfortable common room and the kitchen facilities are excellent! The free onsen is an added bonus. We stayed in one of the dorm rooms which was very clean. The staff are polite and friendly-speaking very good English. The only thing I would reccomend is that they need thought security lockers in the dorm rooms.

Tout a été parfait, dis check-in au Check-out. Le personnel est très sympa, et l’hostel est super, des très bon niveau de service, des onsens petits mais très agréable. Proche de la gare de Yumoto (15/20 minutes à pied) ou un bus qui passe à 100 mètres et qui emmène jusqu’à la gare et/ou le lac Ashi pour la croisière en bateau pirates.

It's a great place to stay – with an outdoor and an indoor onsen! Completely traditional rooms with tamati, chabudai and futon. All rooms and of course the onsen chamber are clean – and the onsen itself is great. I loved spending a night in this property. Many thanks also to the friendly and helpful staff!

箱根湯本駅から徒歩10〜15分ほどで、どこへ行くにも便利です。ただ急坂を上がるので、大きい荷物がある方は、バスがいいかもしれません。私は毎日、散歩がてら徒歩で行き来しました。
温泉にも入れます。シャワー室も複数あり利用したいときにすぐ使えました。
何よりスタッフの方がとても親切で気さくな方が多く、居心地よく過ごせました。今度また箱根に行くときには、ぜひ利用したいです。
