Where can we start? The food was simply out of this world, both dinner and breakfast. They catered to a vegetarian and were very attentive. The room was amazing, spacious, with all kinds of amenities included, free drinks, tea and coffee, a Bluetooth speaker and of course a private osen on the balcony facing a bamboo forest. Everything was top-notch. We booked the pool/sauna downstairs, and that was fantastic, as well as the gym. We also enjoyed drinks at the bar, including the Japanese whiskey. But the service is what makes this hotel so singular, and their incredible attention to detail; During check-in, you enjoy a welcoming drink, and ladies can choose their yukata style. The staff is so attentive and welcoming that you feel special every time. The location is great and beautiful too, with a bridge connecting the hotel to the main road, which gives a nice touch of exclusivity. There is a bus stop right in front of the bridge, and they offered us a shuttle to go back to the train station after checking out. We highly recommend this hotel.

I saw some videos on YouTube regarding this onsen hotel and decided to try it. It is expensive, around US$ 450 per person per night. It includes dinner, breakfast and a private onsen inside the room. I had two friends sharing the room with me; the room is spacious and the hot onsen tub is outside on the balcony. The hotel does not have public onsen as every room has its own. The moment we walked into the lobby, the staff greeted us with big smile and courtesy and offered us the welcome drink and snack. We were given some yukata to select and the staff showed us to the room. The kaiseki dinner were so delicious and fancy. We got to choose western or Japanese style breakfast and also delicious. The services from all staff were first class and made you feel every dollar was well spent.
The hotel is about 10-15 minutes by bus from the Hakone train station. The bus stop is next to the bridge and once you cross that bridge, the hotel is in front of you. It is very quiet and secluded from the busy train station. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had an amazing time at Kinnotake Tonosawa - the experience from beginning to end was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating throughout the stay, and went above and beyond to make sure we got back to Odawara station for our Shinkansen reservation. The accommodations were top notch and the private room onsen was perfect. The multi-course dinner and breakfast services were amazing dining experiences and the chefs accommodated our food preferences. Highly recommend this property!

The property has some great points to it, top-notch facility, beautiful aesthetics, Bazar, delightful and very clean. The staff works incredibly hard, but also is challenged a bit, no bartender during the evening, hard to get dinner times, just some simple things that I think with proper leadership and management could be fixed. Clearly, the weekday staff seem to be more talented than the weekend staff, but they all tried very hard. I would recommend the hotel, but we also went during cherry blossom season, and the price did not match the value.

overall enjoyable stay, the food is a highlight. There were a few hiccups with service along the way. If reliant on public transport to get there it can be a bit complicated. Only downside is the hotel is right next to a road and railway line so there is notable traffic noise (no different to any of the other hotels in the area). The spa services were 10/10.

Easy to get to once you find the right bus from the train station (Odawara or Hakone-Yumoto). Staff will greet you just after you cross the bridge and start the check in process. We went during cherry blossom season so there was a seasonal welcome drink we tried.

Everything was clean, the in-room onsen was great. You cannot see any other guests around you but if you have a particularly noisy neighbour you may hear them. I can imagine in the summer the view from the in-room onsen will be even better with some of the hydrangeas blooming. They also provide yukatas for you to wear along with instructions on how to put them on properly.
Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Their menu changes slightly daily so if you do stay multiple nights you don't have to eat the exact same thing. Hotel itself is great, and location is good also. But quite close to the road, so not very quite in the night. Hotel hire a lot of Chinese staff, think maybe have a lot of Chinese customers. But obviously these Chinese staffs didn’t have well trained. You can tell the detail of the service is not the same standard if you have been to a lot of same style onsen hotel in Japan. The food is above average, but not the TOP level.

Kinnotake Tonosawa is right across from the Dayama bus stop. We took the bus from Hakone Yumoto station directly to the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful. It has a Japanese modern style with bamboo in neutral tones. We stayed in a room with a private onsen that overlooked a bamboo garden. It was stunning. The beds were comfortable and the shower was beautiful. Included in our stay was a traditional japanese dinner and breakfast. We opted for Western style breakfast, though Japanese breakfast was also an option. Overall, it was a very memorable stay and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. I would definitely recommend this property to others considering Hakone. The value, however, in peak season is limited and in these cases I would recommend only one night.

This is a very good hotel. Everything was of the best quality: the service, the room, the food. Plus, the option of being able to soak in your room’s private hot water spring bath, after a day of doing the Hakone round way was magnificent.

A fantastic, relaxing stay
This was way above and beyond anything I've experienced at a hotel before. The room was enormous (the bed was the size of the previous hotel room I stayed in), and the private onsen on the balcony was fantastic. Initially I thought that since it overlooked a road it might be noisy (line of sight is blocked by bamboo and trees), but soon all I could hear were the cicadas and the wind.
We dressed for dinner in the yukata provided, and were treated to several courses of wonderful food. It's a set menu for each person, and they were able to cater for dietary requirements and preferences to a certain degree.

Luxurious and memorable stay
The hotel itself was well maintained and the private open-air onsen (hot spring) in the room cannot be beat. The staff were helpful and courteous, and the dinner and breakfast menu was delightfully delicious. Overall it was a very memorable stay, unfortunately it was raining during our stay so we didn't leave the hotel to explore the surrounding area. The hotel has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing getaway albeit a bit on the pricey side. I would recommend this hotel for a special occasion such as birthday or anniversaries. One thing to note, we thought we had booked the 1 night 2 meals (dinner and next day breakfast) option but it turned out we booked only for 1 meal. The options on hotels.com look similar so be careful to choose the right one. We had to pay extra (higher cost) for the dinner meal when we chose to add it to our stay when we got to the hotel.

Minus one star because of the dinning service on the second day. We understand the dinner of the first day is the best then second day they changed the menu and seating that we feel downgrading. The most important is the server of the second day served the dish before we finish the previous one, so we feel they were urging us - for traditional Japanese diner we know you should be served one dish after another instead of putting the next dish on the table before you finish what you are working on. What a rush?! Are we supposed to enjoy the dinner at the pace as we want? Note that we eat fast not slow at all- we were the first to finish the dinner on the first evening compared with others starting at the same time.

The Room: Be careful about what room you book - they have several different kinds. The rooms on the 2nd floor have wooden onsens, those on the ground floors have granite ones. It's not clear when you book through hotels.com or bookings.com what exactly you're going to get or what your options are. You can go to their website (it's in Japanese, I had to use google translate) to get a better idea. Or better yet, just call them - they have someone who speaks English and will happily clarify your booking and get you the room you want.
We had the private granite Onsen - and it was beautiful. The private deck with the little pool and views of the forest are gorgeous and relaxing. That said, we went in August - it was hot and there were a lot of insects. We had to figure out the best time of day to use the onsen when insects were at a minimum (7am - 10am)

1.補助的な内容に大しての詳しい説明がない
→花火についてなど
2.ホームページにフリードリンクの説明があるがその内容に沿っていないラインナップだった
→焼酎がないなど
3.バースデーサプライズでケーキを準備していただいたが、サプライズ相手がいる前で
会計表を提示されたので相手に金額が知られてしまった
→会計についてはみられないような配慮をいただけるとありがたかった
4.部屋にある籠がとても不潔だった
→部屋に備え付けの露天風呂を利用する際に必須となるので清潔にしていただけたかった
5.外国人の方が説明をする機会が多く、拙い事は十分承知していますが、要所で聞き取りづらいことが多々あった

1.補助的な内容に大しての詳しい説明がない
→花火についてなど
2.ホームページにフリードリンクの説明があるがその内容に沿っていないラインナップだった
→焼酎がないなど
3.バースデーサプライズでケーキを準備していただいたが、サプライズ相手がいる前で
会計表を提示されたので相手に金額が知られてしまった
→会計についてはみられないような配慮をいただけるとありがたかった
4.部屋にある籠がとても不潔だった
→部屋に備え付けの露天風呂を利用する際に必須となるので清潔にしていただけたかった
5.外国人の方が説明をする機会が多く、拙い事は十分承知していますが、要所で聞き取りづらいことが多々あった
