A fair review - a good hotel and lovely area

There are two hotels (Sol Palmanova 1 and 2) which share the entertainment and facilities but have different dining areas and are separate buildings. We stayed in Sol Palmanova 1 for a week. The room was smaller than it looked ok the pictures, especially as we had a cot for our toddler. We had a corner room so our balcony was huge but the railing was a bit wobbly which we were disappointed about. The room was cleaned daily to a ‘good enough’ standard, but the tea and coffee and mugs were not replaced or refilled.
The food in the dining hall was very good standard for all inclusive food, much better than we’ve had elsewhere. There were different things to eat each breakfast/lunch/dinner as well as the classic things being available daily.
One of the main problems that we had with the hotel was that the lifts are really small (I’d say a maximum 4 people could fit in one lift) which meant we would be waiting for the lift for up to 15 minutes.
The entertainment was fun and there was always something to join in with if we wanted to. The hotel was a short walk (less than 5 minutes) from the local beautiful beaches (a different beach depending on which way you walked) and the restaurants in the surrounding area were lovely. The pools were clean and the children’s pools were great.
Staying on the side of the hotel where the main entertainment is was quite noisy until about 12am but this was not a big deal for us.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and would come back to the area.

Not really much of a choice for adults.

MAY I MENTION- my niece had a burger- THE FOOD WASNT EVEN COOKED!!!! Raw burger, showed waitress staff in the dining area he took the burger back and made the staff throw all burgers, not acceptable. (Have photo of this)

Not to mention the solarium room we paid for…

CADDIES NOT TOPPED UP ALL WEEK pictures to showcase alongside the floor not being hooverd/ and under bed.
Little towels given for adults in shower. Not actual bath towels

Never done a review before, Have been visiting palma nova for 25 years , First and last tine staying at Sol Palmanova. We changed rooms 3 times, The family room which is basically a box room was absolutely battered, You pull the balcony door and the wall comes away with plaster falling. The furniture has been absolutely smahsed, Wardrobes falling to bits, So why did we stay here WELL Expedia making nice wide angle lenses and filters make it lool great. Am going to ask for some discount as 3k in euros is just crazy for what you get. Reception staff really friendly but i honestly think they just feel for you staying here. Also the celling in our room was leaking via the light build so in the end 3 we changed 3 rooms.

Great location & facilities. Sometimes ques at bars but went down quick as staff were great. Good selection at buffet but would have liked more fruit like strawberries & berries & greek yoghurt.
Rooms were great size for 2 people & cleaned daily. We had room at back & at corner so in shade with not a great view orver grown land. Beds too hard for me so not a great sleep. I know people like hard beds but I have issues with my back and need softer matteress.
Beds around pool hard also but could always get one.
Snack bar had good selection of food.
Overall great place

Gem of a hotel

Hotel was just as i remembered, fabulous.
Rooms are lovely and spacious and air con is good, definitely needed.
Food was lovely, plenty of choice and I say that as a fussy veggie! Cocktails were delicious, pina colada hit the spot.
Pools were lovely and plenty of sunbeds but we needed to be up by 8am to reserve a decent spot.
Staff are lovely and very helpful and friendly. You can hire beach towels for €10 deposit each, saves you having to pack your own.

Hotel in general was nice but the hotel had 2 main lifts to access the 9 floors. The left lift was out of order the entire time and no one had any idea when it was being fixed. Apparently that lift had been out of order for 4 weeks!! No apologies, no note next to the lift stating it was out of order and the staff didn’t seem to have any idea when or if it would be fixed. Very disappointing considering it was meant to be a 4 star hotel. I’ve stayed in less and received more.

Food was same every day, needs to improve, also cater for vegetarian, now a days there are lots off vegetarian or vegan,
As I am vegetarian there was very limited option, so for ten days I ended up eating only salads, also I know some other people as well.
I would like to come again, but only if food is improved. Thank you, other wise the hotel was wonderful,

The hotel was pretty good, the staff were really helpful nothing was too much to, we enjoyed the food and the pool areas were OK but a little crowded very annoying that people get up really early and reserve sun beds with towels. Also people did the same thing for the tables for the evening entertainment and was crowded again. Between the kids entertainment and the show was quite a large gap.

The rooms we thought were a bit small for families felt like we were on top of each other all the time in there.

This is one of those all inclusive properties that service what seem mainly UK package tours. Its basic in that to has all that you need. Everything like safety box and towels cost extra. The bar line up for a drink is usually long and the food mediocre. The staff don't look happy didn't see many smiles. Also the staff are happy to give you a key at the front desk without any proof of ID which my son did twice! Would I stay here again probably not.

Avoid like the plague!

I was at the Sol Mirlos 6 years ago and the food was amazing - one of the main reasons we decided to go back there. It is now the Sol Palmanova, but the decline in standards is a real eye-opener!

The food is absolutely dreadful! Yes, there is a huge choice, but there is no real quality. We ended up dining out as we couldn't take any more of what they had to offer..

The staff are friendly enough but they seem very stressed. I reckon they're being stretched to the limit due to be understaffed..

The evening entertainment's a complete joke! Mime acts may have cut it in the 70's and 80's, but in this day and age people expect proper, professional entertainment.

The pool area is dirty. You also have selfish holiday makers surrounding th pool leaving no access for wheelchairs or buggy's to get through.

And though this is no fault of the hotel itself, the type of guest is very rough. Neds everywhere with unruly kids.

If you're looking for a nice family holday with the kids then this one isn't for you!

Reception was terrible; no introduction given of the property such as direction to room. Dining on the property wasn't worth it since meal wasn't the majority of the time kept warm. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Food was good , a family hotel caters for kids.
However if you want a sunbed by the pool be prepared to get up at 5am to put a towel on like everyone else, although the rules do say do not do this before 9am, we did not do this and chose to go to the beach instead. Entertainment is for kids, not adults in my opinion. Rooms were clean and basic.
Would not book this hotel again as it’s designed for young families ,which is great if you have a young family.Long queues at bar all the time at night.
Also they squashed in a chair bed as a third bed which left no room to manoeuvre in room and Blocked the drawers.

I didn’t like queuing the whole morning for a towel and then queuing every time to get a drink , even a coffee or tea . One working lift was totally inadequate.
Food was good , pool area lovely and clean, bedrooms very good but a shame the refurbishments were not done by professionals

decorated nicely throughout, lovely rooms, lush food, friendly staff, entertainment was amazing, very family friendly hotel, games room, walking distance to all the near by beaches ect. only 7 euros in taxi to marine-land, we want to go back again! Stayed part of October half term, lovely hot weather and it wasn't busy!

We felt the hotel was too large, pool area was packed with children in the adult only pool, queue's at the bars, restaurant was like a school canteen and the noise level was very loud, food was average, plenty choice but nothing we had made us return for seconds and often repeated, dinner and lunch time. We managed to get gastroenteritis after only 2.5 days on a 4 day holiday, and my partner spent the night in hospital. We weren't the only ones to have taken ill, I heard others also had symptoms. Trying to be slightly positive although it would be easy to slate the place, the rooms was nice and the location good.

Nice hotel but not quite 4 star!

Hotel was very clean & staff nice, polite, friendly & helpful. Hotel too big together with sister hotel next door there was a shared pool space and shared evening entertainment space you could barely get to a sunbed or a table in the evening. Food was too samey & need different options for lunchtime - jacket potatoes or sandwich you can toast etc would be good. Location is good five minutes from the beach and local shops and close to a bus stop if you want to tour the island. But overall lots of queuing for drinks, food & sunbeds! Great entertainment staff did good shows in evening - managed to get a seat one night & stood up & watched another night - didn't bother after that! & they run activities in day for both adults & children.

Room was comfortable, but several things didn’t work: room safe, telephone, and room key worked very randomly, even after being reprogrammed. Also water in shower would fade from extremely hot to cold. AC worked well. Overall it suited our purposes.

Out of season we queued for the bar and the lift a little unexpected ! The lifts are very small and heavily used but for many guests essential if your put on the 9th floor ! Most of the staff appeared a bit miserable particularly Antonio who checked us in at 2.15am maybe he was having a bad night !
The breakfast was OK however the dinners were very good with plenty of choice and variety.
Overall for what we paid we had a very good holiday and my gripes are only small complaints however I wonder how the hotel copes during very busy times I do think lifts,queues etc could be annoying and frustrating and for those reasons I wouldn't return.

A short 2 min walk to the beach is just perfect for this hotel. Good clean updated rooms and lovely showers. Food caters for all tastes and is well suited for all family members. This is our 3rd time at this hotel and highly recommend it.

Not bad, not a 4 star but a good 3 star stay. Entertainment staff were friendly and did their job very well. Bar staff need a happy pill but they are over worked. Food was good with a different choice each day. Very busy the half term week we stayed but as long as you're up and at the pool for 750am then you'll reserve a spot. Palmanova 2 was the better of the two for atmosphere and that's where the entertainment was. The evening entertainment would have been very good if it wasn't for a device that constantly cut the sound right down as to not upset the local residents, this ruined the shows so be prepared. We only found this out via the entertainment staff, no signs explaining it to all so majority were in the dark about this. Drinks were all local and served in plastic rather than glass and cocktails from a machine so not the most glamorous.

Nice hotel for families

This hotel is perfectly situated near the beach, shops and promenade and is also well maintained. The all inclusive food was excellent. It is not suitable for couples but for families it is ideal. As it was only my partner and I that went, I probably wouldn't go again until we have children of our own - the adult pool was occupied by children and activities so there was no escape! Otherwise - it's a good hotel and the staff have set up a good activities scheme for adults and children. To summarise - avoid if you are going as a couple, definitely consider if you are going as a family with children.

Not as good as it used to be

We only had 3 night stay. We have been to all Sol hotels and it was the second time to this one. Since our last visit it is now all inclusive and I do believe that they are short staffed in all areas. Especially the bar areas. Having one staff member behind the bar most times I think unacceptable. Most of the time I sat without a drink as I didn't want to leave my little one for great length of time. People are being allowed to put towels out any time and unless you get down at 07.00 you will not get a sunbed. Kids walking around with guns. (Not hotel fault)
Animation team are good for the mini disco but please leave the evening entertainment to a professional show. Such a shame. As I think the outside area is far too small for the amount of people staying there.
To hire a sunbed on the beach is 13euro for 2 plus the umbrella.
Great area. Just a little disappointed. being all inclusive shouldn't change the standard a hotel should deliver to its guests.

Close to beach, room lovely and very comfortable.

Close to beach, bars and restaurants. Room clean and comfortable. Pool a little too cold which was a shame, would have been lovely to be able to swim! Food okay, some days better than others but there is a lot of choice! However you do have to pay for drinks between 12-1 even though you've already paid for all inclusive.

Thought the Hotel was in a great position to the prom & all amenities. Lacking in warmth, eg both Dining Room & Bar area were very Spartan. Seating quite uncomfortable, to be sat in for evening, both inside & outside. Rooms while not large were ok for what we required (sleeping in). Food not brilliant (breakfast the best). Staff very pleasant especially cleaning & reception.

A very relaxing family trip, with children in their twenties

We were on a very short family holiday. We were all exhausted and were hoping for a relaxing time in the sun. And that's exactly what we got! The rooms are very comfortable, clean and quiet, with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool where we used to sit in the evenings to play games. The food is excellent: great variation (including for us, vegetarians!), truly delicious paellas and fish everyday and plenty of a wide range of tasty salads and fresh fruit. The pool is very nice and clean, with plenty of sun-loungers and very close to the bar... All the staff was very helpful and friendly. There are lots of fun activities for children and they all seemed to be having a fantastic time (a very family orientated hotel). Outside the hotel we found that there was not very much to do, but it did not affect us, as we wanted to spend as much as possible on the FABULOUS beach located only 2 minutes walk from the hotel, where for £4 you can hire a tropical parasol for the day. Wish we could be there now!!!

Lovely Hotel & location is perfect

Lovely friendly staff throughout the Hotel
Rooms are spotlessly clean & fresh towels everyday & great having a fridge too.
Restaurant food is plenty to choose from and beautiful fresh bread & croissants
Pool area is small around the pool and sunbeds are plentiful, but no chance of getting around the pool, as people sit in chairs on the spot they want there sunbed.
Fantastic evening entertainment for all ages
We had an 8th floor room 835, fantastic corner room and sea views, think an upgrade to the 2 lifts would pay off for the hotel, as 9 floors and only 2 very small lifts is poor.
All in all, we had a Fantastic Holiday and we will return again.

The all inclusive system worked very well in this hotel. My girlfriend and I enjoyed delicious 3 course meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with unlimited alcoholic and soft drinks from the tap. All of which were at ideal times.
The vibe around the pools was very pleasant. The staff did whatever they could to make our stay most enjoyable, and could speak very good English.
The room was modern with a large flat screen TV on the wall. The bathroom was equipped with a modern suite and tiles. The beds were hard and uncomfortable though. Both my girlfriend and I had backaches from them.

Lovely hotel, close to the beach

I stayed here with my teenage son during October half term. Checking in at reception was very straightforward. Our room was adequate for our needs with a great sea view - 6th floor. The hotel was very clean throughout. Dining was good, tasty food, and always served hot. Bar service was friendly and quick. The entertainment staff seemed very popular with the young children. Evening entertainment was varied in both quality and style, a brilliant magician one night, a Whitney tribute act to name a couple.
The pools were too cold for me, but the children were happy to swim all day, and lifeguards on duty through the day.
The hotel was just a few minutes walk to the wonderful beach, pus other restaurants, bars and shops.
There were not many holidaymakers in the whole resort and it made for a very relaxing and refreshing trip.

Very good hotel for the cost

Visited mid-Oct for a week as a family of 3, stayed in the Mirlos, pretty impressed with this hotel. Always something decent on offer in the restaurant, desserts particularly good. Animacion staff are excellent, Reception staff helpful & efficient too. 5 min walk to the beach / bars / restaurants. Only negative I can think of was Wi-Fi @ €8/day.
Overall I'd recommend this hotel but seemingly gets a bit hectic during summer holidays.

The Sol Mirlos Tordos actually exists of two buildings and it is only when you try and check in at the nicer (newer) of the two that you then realise that you are in the building next door. It is a real shame that you are not given the choice when booking as we would have paid a small premium to be in the nicer hotel. The rooms in the Tordos look absolutely nothing like the pictures you see on the websites.

Reception staff are ok, but do not expect them to go out of their way to be helpful. Rooms in Tordos look like they have not been decorated since the 1980's, very uncomfortable beds & pillows. No extras, televisions in rooms about 20 years old.
But you can use facilities in both \"hotels\", so we ate mostly in the Mirlos as better quality - still very much canteen food, surprising that they did not even bother to have a Spanish evening!
Yes there are a surprising amount of very selfish people who go down at the crack of down and put their claim to sun loungers / umbrellas, and that was just the Brits! Both pools very small considering the number of guests, and this was in September. There are a number of sunloungers, but the condition of these can be changeable.
Evening entertainment, was not too bad, and it was lovely to be able to sit outside.
If you go expecting a cheap and cheerful 2* hotel you would be ok.

Good entertainment, nothing else

Changed rooms 3 times. Beds extremely uncomfortable, they squeak every time you roll over, waking you up, sleeping on the floor would have been more comfy. The standard of food was fairly poor, they never seem to change the food, lunch and dinner is pretty munch the same every day. Air conditioning is good as long as you get a room where it works. When complaining about things, be prepared to have to ask 3-4 times before anything is done.

We stayed at hotel Mirlos for a short 4 night getaway and overall were very happy. Rooms were clean and simple, nice balcony. Buffet food got a bit repetitive but was great for grabbing easy breakfast and lunch. Nice pool and good location to beach/ shops.

Don't expect 4star ... It is exactly what it says, 3 star hotel .
Food ok ..hotel standard ok .. Facilities ok .. Entertainment ok..
Rooms ok.
Big negative and probably only reason I wouldn't stay again, if you are not up before 6.30 am forget having a sun lounger around the pool ..!! Its actually REALLY bad ...

Very good all inclusive deal

Hotel is in a great location for access to the beach, Palma Nova shops, bars and restaurants and the coastline walk. Hotel is basic but you get what you pay for. Food is adequate for the price, there are freshly cooked fish and meat options for both lunch and dinner. No dodgy tummies had which is a bonus! If you just want a cheapish deal in a basic clean hotel in a good location, Sol Mirlos is the ideal choice.

The lifts can get busy so take the stairs where possible. Pool area is very busy so if peace is required use the beach which is nearby. We also had a situation with a leaky bathroom ceiling on our last night. One member of staff felt we could live with it until the next day when an engineer would be available to repair. Luckily another member of staff realised we needed another room and duly obliged.

Arrived on Friday at 1am to be greeted by the most unwelcoming and unhelpful mail receptionist very disappointed. Luckily this was a one off as all the rest of the staff were very nice. Food is good, drinks very strong not watered down. Entertainment team worked very hard deserve a medal, kids club okay u do have to pay extra for the kids party. Very clean hotel, rooms small though snacks have to be eaten in the restaurant would of been better to have an outside snack bar for the kids overall enjoyed our stay.

First class fantastic holiday!

Loved every minute I went alone with my two small children which I was nervous about but I should have not worried! Children's entertainment was fantastic. Kids pool perfect! So clean throughout the hotel and food was great! Sun bed situation a little annoying they need to make more space as getting a bed in the morning is a pain unless your up at the crack of dawn! But apart from that I enjoyed every moment

Fantastic holiday

We went as a family of 5 3yr old 4yr old and 10yr old. We had a great time, the rooms were basic but very clean and the hotel was great. Something for everyone the beach was a 5minute walk and there was always great evening entertainment. The kids club was there if you needed it for all ages. my kids spent most of their time in the kids splash pool and never got tired of it!!! Even the 10yr old. All inclusive was excellent the variety of food was excellent and there was always something for the young ones. Overall it is a fabulous hotel well worth visiting I would go again!!!

brilliant hotel,good food,very clean.all staff extremely helpful.the hotel is good for both couples and family's alike.It's only about 200mtrs from the beach,and it's in a central location,we have stayed in other hotels in palma nova but for us this one is definately the best.we have now stayed at the mirlos on four different occasions and will definately be going back again.

Improving every year!

This was my third stay at the Mirlos/Tordos and it was the best so far, this year we were located in a pool facing room in the Mirlos rather than a wasteland view from the back of the Tordos. This made a huge difference but i suppose it may be pot luck where you end up!
The facilities and entertainment were very good and if you travelled as a family then you need never leave the hotel grounds! The only downside’s i noticed were that the pool area's were absolutely packed and you need to get in there early. If you prefer the beach then this is only a few minutes walk away. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would happily book again.
One more thing, a few of the staff in the bar and food area could do with a bit of customer service training, staring with a smile every now and then!! To be fair though, the majority of staff were very nice.

E’ stata una fantastica vacanza in famiglia. Il cibo era vario, la stanza grande e con una meravigliosa vista sulla baia. Il letto era un po’ duro ma con un topper di memory si e’ risolto tutto. Bellissima vacanza da ripetere. Mio figlio di 3 anni si e’ trovato benissimo.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour en famille.
L'accueil est très sympathique (mais pas en français).
L'établissement est très beau et propre..
Les chambres sont assez petites mais nous ne faisons qu'y dormir .
Le personnel de chambre est sympathique et compétent, chaque jour notre chambre était nettoyé minutieusement.
La restauration est assez répétitive mais correcte.
La partie bar propose des cocktails de qualité inégale selon le barman en poste.
Les piscines sont belles mais froides pendant notre période de séjour .
Un joli séjour dans un bel établissement servi par un personnel aux petits soins.
Petit clin d'oeil spécial a l'équipe d'animation dans son ensemble pour leur dynamisme et bonne humeur constante même en toute de fin de saison ! Surtout Ernesto et Olaf!
Je recommande cet hôtel !

Detta var inget för oss. Rummet var dåligt städat. AC fungerade inte. Och elen gick när man föna håret. Matbuffén föll inte oss i smaken även om det fanns mycket att välja på. Utbudet var dock ungefär desamma lunch och kväll och varje dag. Restaurangen var som en skolmatsal, väldigt ocharmigt. Poolimrådet var bra.
