Excellent location, room was big, modern with a big shower room and a balcony. The night porter was particularly friendly and very helpful. No coffee or milk in the room (tea and sugar though). The breakfast was a let down with stale pastries and underwhelming choices. Some areas (landings) look tired but overall, I would go back and recommend this hotel.

Our room was extremely noisy, there was construction going on until very late at night in the adjacent building so we could not sleep well any night that we were there. We told the staff and they said an upstairs room would be quieter but did not offer us any other options. We wished there was a gym on site. The breakfast was great, but we would have really appreciated boiled eggs. Having almond milk available for the coffee was great. I’m not sure why the upstairs room with a view was closed off most of the day except for breakfast and late night drinking. It would have been nice to use, since there is nowhere else to sit except for the bedrooms. The location is great. The bed in our room was very comfortable. The room was stocked with shampoo and soap, no conditioner.

I can only say positive comments about this hotel and staff. We stayed here for 1 week. Our room was big, clean and quiet. The staff was wonderful. They helped us with information about things to do in Porto and they were very nice. The continental breakfast was included too. Thank you Filipa and the rest of the staff at Vera Cruz Hotel. You guys are awesome!

Very friendly check-in staff, with really good communication skills. The room is as expected for the level of hotel. It was cozy, with plenty of storage. The bathroom was good quality with the shower providing decent hot water, however the toilet which was wedged into a small alcove of the bathroom which made a very tight fit when sitting on it. WiFi is included and very fast and no outage. Breakfast is included and is simple continental fair, but very tasty and kept us going until the early evening. Location is very close to the clubs and bars, but we heard absolutely no noise at all. Would definitely visit again. Thank you

Great hotel in fantastic central location and great value for money. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, and all spoke perfect English which was very handy as we had absolutely no Portugese. Help yourself, continental breakfast included, with plenty of choice and nice restaurant location on roof top with views over main square. Booked a standard double, room fairly small and bathroom compact but no complaints, both very clean, clean bedding and good shower. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend if you're planning a few days in Porto.

Hotel wasn't bad, but needs updating. Room was very clean but the bed was lumpy and had a wooden frame that every time my husband moved, it made noise. The drapes were red and the light shades were red. An easy fix there to a neutral color would work wonders. Breakfast was the usual European fare -- nothing hot -- some cold cuts, yogurt, pastries.

Checked out after one night

I booked a standard room in what I thought was a two star hotel in a good location. I did not expect luxury. What I got was a tiny room with a wardrobe with 3 hangers, all of which were too big for the wardrobe, drawers that were filthy and too small to put a folded t-shirt in, noise from everywhere( worst noise from the kitchen and breakfast room on the 8th floor above, so we had kitchen equipment banging in the evening and then as soon as early morning came the sound of people preparing for breakfast). The double bed was clean, very short and not very comfortable. The bathroom was reasonably new and clean.

After complaining twice and being told there were no other rooms, we suffered the first night saying that I will move if the noises from above in the kitchen didn't stop. The next day I complained again and was told they had another standard double Room, this was even smaller and only just big enough for a not very comfy double bed. So we moved to another hotel.

All I wanted was a room with a reasonable bed, places to store our clothes and enough quiet to sleep properly. I did not expect luxury.

I have stayed all over the world in motels and hotels of every grade, through business and leisure. This was the worst. Do not trust the 2 stars, book somewhere else.

This hotel is in a convenient situation for exploring Oporto, and close to bus routes and one of its stations for local trips. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was adequate with the exception of the bathroom attached to our room, which contained a shower that is eccentric and difficult to access, particularly if you are large or less than nimble. The staff in the breakfast room were friendly, but seemed to be under pressure and extremely slow in clearing tables, with the result that you often sat next to a table piled with dirty crockery.

Rooms had all necessary amenities. The beds were extremely firm and we were able to hear other guests through the walls. The breakfast room was nice, great views of the city and the food was good. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Just about everything is within walking distance or easily accessible via the subway station just around the corner.

This hotel is located in the most lovely of locations. You can sit on your balcony and see the main town square and there's some awesome night life right there. The river where all the main attractions are is a 10-15 min walk (the town is hilly/stairy so be warned.) I found the room decently sized with a particularly spacious bathroom. The walls are paper thin - our upstairs neighbors had a lovely adult-friendly time - so earplugs or sound machines are recommended.

Overall our stay at Vera Cruz was good and positive. The hotel is located right on one of the main squares of Porto. The hotel and room were clean, but unfortunately the rooms are quite small. The breakfast on the balcony of the top floor was amazing and surely a massive plus. Considering the price, quality and service we received, I'd stay here again.

The Worst Hotel I've ever stayed

The photos of this hotel looked very nice on the Internet, yet when we arrived we were immediately disappointed. The room was dirty. There was hair in the bathroom, mold in the shower. We refused to shower and checked out the next day. The room was small, dark, gross. I would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was good. The hotel breakfast is good, try their coconut yoghurt. Rooms were comfortable except for the smelly toilet which did not have much ventilation.I would recommend this hotel except for the smelly toilet. Leave the air freshener in, don't take it out and forget to put it back like we did. The smell won't be gone but it won't be as bad with the air freshener in.

Don't have dinner at \"Guarney\"- a restaurant near the hotel- even if the hotel receptionist recommends it.. It's expensive, touristy, and the food is terrible. We had 4 mains and no one enjoyed their dinner.

Great hotel for short stay

This hotel was fine for a short break, however I do think that anything longer than 5 days you would better to look elsewhere.

The staff and cleanliness of the hotel could not have been any better. Rooms were cleaned daily, even when we didn't until the afternoon. Staff were always smiling and ready to help.

The downside to this hotel was the size of the beds - which as singles were really short and you often woke with your feet hanging off the end. The shower was also a real nightmare - constantly running from scalding hot to freezing cold and back again. While this was manageable for 5 days - Im sure it would have become tiresome after longer.

Breakfast was nice - especially sitting on the balcony in the sunshine!
Cereals, bread with cheese and ham, coissants,coffee & juice and fresh fruit. A very nice start to the day.

Overall I think the quality of the hotel didn't quite match the impression from their website. Although we had a great holiday - it was very well located, 24 hour reception and a computer with wi-fi for guests to use.

We were disappointed, but alas, you don't get much with a \"residential\" style hotel. Great location, staff were very nice, but upon check in, our room was so very very small and had a lovely view of the adjacent building's wall of \"laundry\". The room was quite dark. Most alarming was our room door and door lock were horrible. We could open our door with the Porto city map we were given at the front desk!!! That put a huge damper on feeling secured at this hotel. We asked to move which they obliged, but the new room was marginally better, but at least the door was secured. I recalled reading that this hotel had advertised as \"newly renovated\", but our room(s) were certainly not part of that renovation. Lastly, the some of the hotel highlights are the terrace, in fact there are night-time images of the terrace, but access is closed after lunch! Unless you are on a VERY tight budget, there is no need to stay in this hotel.

Rooftop breakfast room is so nice to view all over the city (but windy).
Staff are nice and friendly.
But it's funny they put a fridge in our room on the last day we stay (brand-new fridge! We found the cardboard box of the fridge at the staircase...)

방의 크기가 너무 작아서 캐리어 펼치면 다니기 불편한 정도 였음.
조명은 너무 어두웠고 화장대 앞에는 전등이 없어서 로션도 바를 수 없을 정도로 어두웠음.
침대는 삐걱거리고 매트리스는 스프링이 내려 앉아서 허리가 아팠음.
화장실 세면대 수도꼭지는 방향이 잘못되어서 물을 트는 순간 옷을 다 버릴 정도로 앞으로 물이 튀어 나왔음
사용한 수건 교체를 해 주지 않고 축축한 수건을 그대로 둬서 받으러 다녔음
두번 다시 가고 싶지 않음

Um hotel inesquecível. Pessoal nada cordiais , primeiro o pessimo quarto, colocaram um colchao encima de um colchao menor. Quarto pequeno com mofo. Reclamamos e disseram que pelo hotel.com seria aquele estilo o quarto oferecido no 2 andar. Nunca mais me hospedo nesse local pessimo.

Superbe localisation a 50 metres de la mairie de porto.on peut visiter beaucoup de choses a pied.
L hotel est confortable, largement suffisant pour venir visiter porto.
Le petit déjeuner est copieux,et une belle vue permet de bien commencer la journée.
Le personnel est tres professionnel et sympathique, certains parlent aussi le français.
La chambre est confortable mais un peu sombre, la salle de bain bien agencée avec une grande douche.
Demandez au receptioniste de vous reserver un taxi pour le retour a l aeroport car il y a un tarif reduit.

O hotel é antigo. Os quartos são de carpete e móveis antigos (a cama é bem barulhenta), porém o banheiro é novinho! Espaçoso, limpo e com um ótimo chuveiro. O café da manhã é bom e a localização é boa.
