I was so happy with this boutique hotel. Centrally located near shops, sights, restaurants and bars, all within walking distance. The staff is welcoming and helps to meet whatever you need.
The entire hotel is pristine with beautiful modern rooms, well appointed lighting, sound proofing windows, black out curtains, lovely toiletries and more. I’d be back in a heart beat!

The Axis Porto was an excellent hotel in the heart of Porto. It is walking distance to many sights, easy access to public transportation, and near several types of restaurants. The facility seemed almost new and well maintained. Fixtures were modern, in fact, almost too modern, where the look outweighed the function. One example was the shower control had no markings for Hot or Cold, and it turned out to be exactly opposite what I was used to. This is really minor once I figured it out, but when I first arrived and was quite jet-lagged, it was a little frustrating. That said, the shower great once I got used to it.

Charming hotel with great location

New hotel but historical building with lots of charm. It is situated at a very convenient location, can go to most of the attractions by foot. The room I had was very spacious but it was very hot. The front desk lady refused to do anything for us and we had to drag till 11pm before we could change to another room. Other than her, the other front desk staff are friendly and helpful.
To me , the housekeeping could do a better job. Water was not replenished and tissue paper was out. Wish she could be more attentive. One more thing I want to mention is that the shower floor is very slippery, be cautious. Maybe hotel can do something about it before any accident happens.

Great hotel. Great location to metro, sites, restaurants and bars. Not in super touristy area but still walkable to everything you need. Metro station within a few mins walk. Situated in a fantastic areas with good bars and restaurants. Check out the micro brewery nearby and funkt wine bar.

Hotel is clean and rooms are spacious. Can’t fault much really. Only thing I would say is the lighting in the rooms could be better, decor is a little dark. Pillows could be better but that’s subjective.

Not suggested for a long stay, they put us in a very dark room on first floor with only one window and the tiny balcony was next to the air-conditioning unit which was noisy when we were opening the door. Also our balcony was separated just by a plant with the next room's making it less safe. In the room amenities it writes that there are Nespresso machines in the room, however, our room had just a kettle. I am pretty sure that they put us in the worst room of the hotel, which again would be ok if we were staying for two days but for a week it ended up being claustrophobic and not a place that you can relax during the day. Other than that the mattress is very comfortable, however the pillows seemed low quality. They also have pretty nice slippers and they offer water which is a plus. The decoration of the room is great but overshadowed by how dark is the room. The location is very safe and near good spots for food and drinking. Overall okay but there are other hotels nearby that offer better value for money.

Beautiful hotel, located in the middle of Porto. The hotel was located in front of the plaza where they hold São João yearly festival. Definitely not a quiet place, at least when I stayed. However, the area has a very vibrant energy. The hotel is clean, nice location, the service was excellent. Don't book room 305.

Beautifully smartly renovated old beaulding in the heart of Porto. Very close to Sao Bento station which is one of the most beautiful in the world with tiles adorning the walls painted by one man over 7 years. Due to construction which has been going on for 4 years due to an archeological find the station is difficult to exit because of cladding.
Unfortunately there is a bar directly below our room 305 and because it is in a back area the noise came straight up despite excellent hotel insulation. Some nights were worse than others. We did request a room change but tbere were no twin bed rooms available.

Super quiet despite being in the city center. Excellent blackout curtains. King-size and comfortable bed. Plenty of free toiletries. Kind and very helpful staff. Breakfasts offered good variety and kept us satisfied till dinnertime. Special thanks to breakfast room staffperson Paula, who filled our water bottles with ice and water each day as we headed out. Good location for exploring the city. Not a quibble but a note: ads for the hotel state it is 150 meters from the train station. That's true for Trindade train (and bus) station, which is where you would arrive from the airport. The Sao Bento train station, which is where we arrived by train from Lisbon, is a longer 15 to 20 minute walk away. (Do visit Sao Bento for its amazing tilework.) Very happy with our choice of hotel.
Decent size rooms (its a hotel in europe, they come up small). And the hotel heroically resists the terrible trend of bath tubs in the bedroom. YAY!
Staff: uniformly excellent. Young crew, but really know their business.
Restaurant: only used this for breakfast until we found a local spot. Breakfast was a standard buffet effort for €15.
Location: Very good. Porto is a walkable city, and for those longer journeys there are multiple Metro stations near-by.
The naff ‘Potter’ library is something like a10 min walk away. Sao Bento just down the hill. But so are side streets lined with interesting restaurants and shops of this and that. If high-end shopping is your thing, some big brands are literally 50m down the hill from the hotel. But Porto isn’t a shopping mecca, it’s a mooching about kind of place. So pop your comfy shoes on and go walkabout. (A new Metro line was under construction during our visit -May 2024- so bits of the historic centre are compromised.)
Look, you know and I know that the infamous Porto ‘Frenchy’ sandwich is just a croque madam with some hot sauce. So don’t do that. Watch other people fight with a 2,000 calorie tourist trap, whilst you go have some delicious fish at Culto ao Bacalhau or similar.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful on arrival and throughout stay. Received a QR code with recommendations for things to do and places to eat around the city as well as a welcome drink. Room was immaculate. Would definitely stay again if we were to return.
