Aircon was leaking from ceiling so we had to move to a standard room. The manager compensated us with a couple of drinks from the bar for the inconvenience and downgrade. Refund was not an option as we booked a long time ago with a voucher. The staff were fabulous.

The staff was wonderful. We got to store our bags beforehand and then they allowed us to check in early. They gave us 3 free drink tokens. The room was comfortable and clean with air conditioning and free WiFi. It is in a walkable area with many great restaurants like Honest Greens and All Day Food Cafe.

The hotel was in the heart of the old historical district of Porto. We could walk to the historical sites. It was an easy 15 minute walk down hill to the Douro River but challenging to walk back uphill.

Breakfast offered was OK but it could be better. Lock door was broken and it didn't work. They had to fix it to keep our room private. They offered a \"cortesy beer\" but just from 6-8PM, but we requested to get them 30 min before 6:00PM due to a scheduled activity, but they rejected to do it even when lobby was empty and they weren't busy. Nonetheless, the location saved the stay. Close to everything.

The staff at the property were incredibly kind, attentive and went over the top. The included breakfast was very good and had a large variety of items to choose from. The pictures shown vary between the new and old hotel (supposedly) and we stayed in the older one which was completely okay! It was still great and all you needed. The location is great as there are several dining options around, it’s about 1km away from any major tourist points in Porto and the Trinidade metro station (to airport) is about a 10 minute walk. Overall, very good hotel!

Great location with several bars and restaurants near by. Porto is small but a lovely charming city and the people everywhere you go and meet are genuinely kind and hospitable.

The decor/bedding didn’t look like the first photo. The walls very thin and you could hear other guests talking and It was a bit dated as are many hotels are in Europe (Americans be aware if noise is a priority for you), however the bathroom was marble/updated. strong AC, and internet connection was fast. If you’re remotely working, you can work from the desk or find coffee shops nearby.

Great for solo travelers needing simple clean rooms in prime location. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Would come back if I’m traveling solo again

Great staff, great locale

We stayed for 3 nights and it was lovely! The location is close to everything (shops, restaurants) and about a 7-10 minute walk to main Trinidade station. That was convenient since we came right from the airport and it was easy to navigate. All hotel staff we encountered were extremely friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was perfect fuel for the day with unlimited coffee and espresso. That was very helpful. I would recommend this hotel, especially for its price. There were only two of us traveling and we were put in a triple room (2 twin beds pushed together to create a king bed and then a separate twin bed by itself). That was nice to have the extra room. If I had to say something that was not ideal, like most European windows there are no window screens, so in order to get the fresh air/breeze, the window is open-air. The air was fresh but some mosquitoes did get in and bite me. But I always get mosquito bites and my husband does not, so he was fine! Again it was not a major deal, but since I live by people’s reviews here, it’s good to see every aspect. Overall I loved my stay here and would book again if I am in Porto!

5 day stay. Very nice cold buffet breakfast, rooms cleaned every day, staff very, very helpful. Rooms comapct, TV but no fridge. Bathroom/shower, very good. Very central location, 10 minutes walk from Trindade metro station. and close to many tourist attractions. A bit of noise at night from outside but for the price of our stay, we were very pleased and would certainly stay there again.

With no prior notice or communication the hotel overbooked its rooms and moved us over to the Best Western down the street. Had I been notifed earlier I would have cancelled my booking and found a better hotel, as I never had any intention of staying at the very old Best Western Hotel Inca.

Located in a very noisy quarter of Porto. Sleep disrupted several times.

They also do not have a ramp to enable you to enter the hotel easily with luggage. You have to climb up some stairs. No one helps to carry the luggage.

The bathroom was not that clean with a lot of mould. The air conditioning stank!

Limited choices for breakfast too with no hot food options.

Not worth what I paid

Due to the cost and the information on the website I thought the hotel would be good quality. We booked well in advance and asked for a double room but unfortunately got a twin room. When asked to change this we were told that wouldn't be possible for several days. The room had poor quality furniture and fittings and only 2 power points, but it was very clean and the WiFi and breakfast were both good. If I had been looking for a budget hotel and been paying a price appropriate for that I would have been pretty satisifed but feel that I was overcharged what I recieved.

We only stayed a couple of nights and moved to different hotel as felt that if we had stayed we would not have enjoyed our holiday.

Good location on the higher elevation side of Porto, ie most of the attractions are downhill. Nice modest Inn only problem is noisy patrons of nearby bars at last call 4 am. Good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.

Got to hotel, to find it closed, we had no notice of this, though we were transferred to the best western Inca, which is wonderful and we are very happy to be here, great staff, nice location.

Would have liked some notice that our original hotel was not open, as we arrived late after loads of traveling and were met with a shock,

OK but avoid rooms at the front.

Malaposta is cheap(ish) and clean. On my latest trip I was in a room at the front and it was very noisy. There was the usual traffic + cobbled road roar and then from 2:30am until 5:00am some drunk students decided to prove that they had no musical talent whilst torturing a guitar. WiFi works well (6Mbps+).

Downtown Porto is small, however, scenery can change dramatically in two blocks. This hotel is located in a not very nice area, a good walk away from most points of interest.
Hotel staff is not really friendly and rooms are in terrible condition. Dirty hallway carpet, old and uncomfortable beds and really foul-smelling bathroom. I felt deceived by the pictures they post on the website.

Great place to stay in Porto

This is a very nice hotel in the heart of historical district of Porto. The location could not be better - it is at the walking distance from the Library where Harry Power was filmed, Majestic Cafe, market. The price is very attractive. At the time of travel I paid about $73.00 per night. The furniture is a little bit outdate but it was still comfortable. The hotel staff is excellent. They are very knowledgeable of all the attractions and means to get there. They have helped me with everything they could. When I am in Porto next time, I will definitely stay at this hotel. The breakfast was simply outstanding - it alone is worthy to stay in this hotel. If I need to pick just two outstanding features of this hotel, I would say it is location and personnel.

The reception staff through out my stay were abrupt and unwelcoming, almost rude when I first arrived and most definitely surly. This is the area where this hotel could make the easiest and biggest improvement. Also I left my bag in their care on my last day and it had clearly been gone through, probably by another guest. Other than that it was perfectly clean if a bit run down, for instance the enamel bath was chipped in a number of places and the shower head was pretty pathetic. The bed was comfortable enough, you have to pay by the day if you want to use the safe, which was just cheapskate. The breakfast was good with a good selection on the cold buffet. This hotels main attractions are its cost and its central location. Very easy to get to from the airport by metro too.

Good hotel and handy for most places in Porto

Stayed at the Hotel Malaposta for 8 nights. Very close to Trindade metro station so it is on a direct metro line from the airport. Only 10 mins to walk to São Bento station where you can get trains to Aveiro, Braga, Guimarães etc without having to go all the way to Campanhã station. Handy as well for the hop on hop off buses and the Eugenia's Free Walking Tour. Plentiful continental breakfast with something for everyone - fresh fruit, croissants, cold meats, toast, cheese etc. Rooms were kept clean and there is a nice reception area with plenty of seating. Showere was great and the location was mostly quiet. Also close to a decent sized supermarket and one much smaller supermarket too. Very pleased with my choice of Porto hotel for my holiday.

I would not recommend this hotel

This hotel is partially refurbished and the comfort, room look and feel partially ruined our holiday for the following reasons:
- dirty decorative pillows
- rundown furniture
-musty room smell
-cealing with hole and covered with plastic white bag
-paper thin walls

On the positive side the hotel is located in the heart of Porto and the staff was friendly.

The hotel didn't look like it's pictures online. It is much older and uglier. The receptionist never had a smile on her face. The room was so dingy even when I turned all the lights on it felt very depressing. There were no plug sockets other than just one where a lamp was plugged in. They must not think a hotel guest needs to charge their phone or something. The only good thing about the hotel was its location.

This is a hard one to review. I checked in for a 3 night stay. Though the room (107) was very clean, it had a moldy smell. I stayed a night, was gone all the ne t day till late and then returned. The smell had gotten worse. I requested to change rooms but they were full- which was understandable. But they said they'd change it in the am. I slept w/ the window and the door open (and I'm not really a fussy person). Next day, I did change rooms and the second room was waaay better. Breakfast was good but the breakfast room is kind of cramped. Generally good service, price was good and it was convenient to downtown.

Good hotel but very noisy neighborhood

We spent two nights at Malaposta: Saturday and Sunday. The hotel is located in a neighborhood full of nightlife. Our room was on the first floor and had a window towards the street. It was impossible to sleep on Saturday night until 6 AM. People were yelling in the streets and all the noises got into our room, to the point that we though our windows were opened. On Sunday night the situation was much better.
Otherwise than this, the hotel is fine for its price. Breakfast was OK. I would not mind staying there again Sunday to Thursday but I would definitely avoid it during the weekend.

The hotel was in a good area with lovely restaurants and bars outside the door. The hotel staff were excellent and extremely professional and helpful. The lobby area was recently refurbished and pleasant. The breakfast room was small but well organised and there was a good variety of fresh foods. Our hotel room was old and had an unpleasant odour but was clean. The hotel also offered an airport shuttle service at a reasonable price and had a free shuttle for hotel guests to a large shopping centre.

The hotel is very good located: all the sightseeing are nearby. It is clean, the breakfast was well enough too, though the range of food is limited. The worst thing about the hotel was dampness and a smell of mold. But, to tell the truth there were no trace of mold in rooms.

Downtown Experience

I have nothing unpleasant to say about the hotel itself. The reception staff is quite knowledgeable and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room a decent size. The hotel is downtown and within walking distance of almost everything. We are seniors and we went everywhere on foot. The cobblestones make life difficult and in future I would wear hiking boots to protect my feet. The main problem are the all night drunks who shout and sing just outside the window. We were on the first floor which is one level up from the street and I scarcely slept. If this kind of thing does not bother you do not hesitate to stay here.

Very disappointed, the room was OK but no tea making facilities, only 4 hangers and no door hooks for coats.mour room was not serviced during our stay as the chamber maid turned up at 4pm in the afternoon when we were resting before getting ready to go out in the evening. The breakfast was good but the breakfast room was very small and windowless so claustrophobic. We could not make a drink in our room and there was no bar where we could buy one. There was a remote for the heating/air con but it was useless and centrally controlled so the room was cold until around 5pm. The only plus was that it was centrally located and walking distance from a metro station.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, but needs a bit of updating / paint in the rooms. Internet was hit and miss, didn't always work. Breakfast buffet was fairly good, not bad selection, but eating area was small and was crowded at certain times of the morning. Otherwise the staff were friendly and front desk staff spoke English very well. The rest of the staff didn't know English but I was able to communicate fairly well.

Review for a 3-star hotel

The things I liked about the hotel:
1. The hotel is located very conveniently at the heart of Porto--3 min. from Porto's City Hall and a Metro station, and a short walk to the river.
2. Cheap for hotel + breakfast
3. Small but clean bathrooms + Laminate floors in the rooms, which makes it feel cleaner.
4. Breakfast had a good variety
5. 24/7 front desk staff

The things I didn't like:
1. No wireless in the room (I changed 2 rooms but none had access). You can get wireless only in the lounge area.
2. There was a very loud disco (I believe) nearby and you can hear the music till 3 a.m.
3. The rooms on the 1st floor are quite dark as the windows are high and small.
4. There were about 10 TV channels and only 1 of them was in English (BBC).

NB! Pay attention when you make your pre-paid reservation: Even if you've PAID for 2 people, if you don't change the number of guests to 2, they'll want to charge you 10 euros additionally for the second guest if the reservation shows \"1 guest\". Ridiculous!

Nice small hotel, newly renovated, clean rooms. Good price/quality relationship. Breakfast ok, short walk to city center. Nice restaurants nearby well within walking distance. I recommend!

Porto's nice but shame about the hotel

The hotel was extremely basic and the room smelled like body odour. The heater did not work! The staff were very friendly especially the cleaning ladies, however some of the reception staff were very disinterested about issues we had.
