This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had and completely ruined the start of my trip. When I arrived to check in, I was told my room was no longer available due to an alleged “insect issue.” This explanation felt suspicious, and I later discovered the real reason was that my prepaid room had been given to someone else. Instead of being honest or taking responsibility, the staff used this excuse to cover up what appeared to be an overbooking situation. Rather than placing me in a comparable or upgraded hotel, they moved me to a different property down the street that was clearly inferior. The hotel I originally booked cost $88 per night, yet the replacement hotel was listed online for around $45 per night, reflecting the drastic downgrade in quality. The room smelled terrible, was poorly maintained, the shower was broken, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was run down and not even remotely comparable to what I paid for. When I complained and asked for assistance, the staff and management were dismissive and unhelpful. The manager openly said he “didn’t care” and insisted that they had fulfilled their obligation simply by giving me any room, even though it was a completely different and substandard hotel. To make matters worse, the hotel repeatedly ignored Expedia’s phone calls and refused to cooperate in resolving the issue. The only reason this situation was resolved at all is because Expedia protected me as a customer.
This experience was terrible.

Nice, clean, cozy and warm

The hot tub and sauna were nice and quiet. Rooms were, in general, nice and clean, albeit cosy. Ordering food on room service took over an hour. Aircon is feeble, and if you have the windows open to make the room a manageable temperature, you'll be woken up multiple times by people arguing/talking loudly in the courtyard, or the cleaning team starting at the crack of dawn. In their defence, there is a nice lady coming around at breakfast (which has a nice selection,) asking about any issues and working to solve them.

It was ok.

The view made it worth it. Cleanliness was sub par, and the person who helped us get a shuttle told the driver the wrong airport. We caught it before we got all the way to SAW thankfully, or else we would have missed out flight out of IST.
The place also advertised it included airconditioning when it did not. There was also a huge cockroach in the pool area. But man.. the view is incredible that is undeniable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and it's a great location with lots going on nearby. The room service option was a lifesaver when I was extremely hungover and all the food was delicious. I got a massage along with a foam wash and it was very enjoyable. Again, the staff were incredibly friendly.

In terms of the bad: there was some water damage to the ceiling of my room and the air conditioning was patchy at best. Despite booking two identical rooms, one was noticeably smaller than the other. On our final day there was no water so I could not take a shower before leaving for the airport. Also, if you're coming for the pool, go somewhere else. The pool is tiny.

Overall, I'd stay here again if I got a good deal but at full price you might be able to find somewhere with better facilities.

It was really disappointing. It does not match what has been advertised. I was staying executive room which is not at all. Room was not prepared at all.There was no kettle, hairdryer and ironing board. I asked for kettle they brought dusty and dirty one. I realised sheet cover was ripped. I could also hear lift noise all day and night. I told this to reception and they were apologetic. They clean the room and offered me wine and fruits which was nice. But I really would like to get some of my money back but no Hotels.com or hotel itself taking any responsibility as room was not worth what I paid

Location was great for walking to Taksim, Galata, and across the bridge. Breakfasts are uniformly OK. Pera Tulip is old and a bit weary. Hot tub doesn't work, sauna is barely 30C. Fridge almost keeps cold. Price is good for what you get.

Hotel was comfortable for one night, but the bathroom door did not close and had a large gap facing the toilet, which has been there for a while as the tile is significantly scraped from.
We booked the hotel last minute on Hotels.com after inquiring about the price in person. Staff was not to happy about this. We waited 20 minutes while \"the system loaded the reservation\". Then they gave us a hard time because we had pictures of our passports and not the actual things, even though we provided our foreign ID, & went as far as saying that if they wanted to they can deny us the stay. FYI we stayed in 2 other hotels this week which happen to be nicer then Pera and they gave us absolutely no issue. I personally wont go back here there are better options around the area.

This was our first visit to the hotel and we were quite disappointed; definetly not worth the price we paid for it. The room was not clean, the staff was not friendly. On our first night, we turned off the heater and the room was still extremely hot that we couldnt sleep.
When we contacted the reception on the next day, they sent a technician who didnt speak english and tried to convince us that the heater was turned on. After lots of discussion, they finally let us switch rooms.
The hotel is quite old and needs a lot of renovation in order to achieve the 4 stars they claim.
A filthy smell could suddenly fill the hotel hallways and whenever an upstairs room flushes the toilet, we can hear the water sounds.
The only good thing is the location near the metro station.
Finally, I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is 2 Stars Only as the rooms size was very small with very old furnitures, the hotel is not quite as it is in the center without sound proof walles or windows you will hear the adjusent rooms clearly while the doors of the rooms are closed..thier is no enough space in the lobby for gusts to sit and wait, the bason was blocked, the AC make Sound, its price with breakfast was 160 us$ which is very expensive for such hotel.. I DONT ADVICE YOU TO RENT IT.

This was my worst hotel experience ever! The guestrooms are very very different from the pictures, they are so small and tiny and with no lights. The Ac never works, the personnel staff is no smiley nor friendly. Whenever we ask them for some information they are barley open to help or assist. The breakfast is very poor. The only good point is the location of the hotel, next to the main attractions.
Besides that I do not recommend this hotel at nay times is it the worst service ever and the worst rooms I’ve ever seen!

The front office staff were very hostile coupled with the fact that they cant speak English. Hotel mgt needs to employ multi lingual staff especially at the front office because that is the face of the hotel. Rooms are not tidy enough as well.

We stayed at the Tulip Molton Hotel in Beyoglu, Istanbul for a week the hotel in general was clean but a little on the tired side. We booked a superior room online and our room was certainly not superior. A very small room with very poor lighting. Room is really dark which makes it difficult when getting ready for a night out. Their superior room consist of a double bed plus a single bed which did not make sense and made the room small. Very basic room, nothing fancy at all. The carpet had a few stain marks which looked untidy. The bathroom was very small and had a strong smell of urine. It was not pleasant at all. This hotel is central and close to the metro. Walking distance to the long stretch leading to Taskim Square. Down fall of being so central especially at the weekends are the nightclub playing music till late hours of the morning when you wanting a good night sleep. This was very frustrating. Its not a 4 star for sure. Nothing in the mini bar.

Hotel is different after changing name / owners . Half of breakfast offer disappeared . Problem in shower from first day never fixed all my stay despite several requests.
Breakfast hall / restaurant staff not friendly at all and they do not offer any help to customers .
Most staff do not speak english .

The hotel is conveniently located in Beyoglu close to the Metro station and also to the main shopping street. There are a lot of restaurants nearby including the Hard Rock Café and a very good Thai restaurant Çok Çok.

The rooms are good with modern bathrooms, fridges, good televisions and safety deposit boxes.

The spa in the basement has a good pool, sauna and gym.

The reception staff were very helpful in assisting us to find places and also booking excursions for us.

Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed in November 2015, the room and service were good and the staff was friendly and tried to help as much as possible, the breakfast was good with someone playing on the piano.
What bothered us the most was a stink odor that would come and go during the day and night, also the safe didn't work and no one came to fix it even though we complained about it on the first day, and the shower base is fixed so you cannot control it which is not very practical for women, and it floods the bathroom easily if you don't put towels to block the water.
The restaurant food was good, we ordered room service on some nights it was delicious, the portions were big and service was quick. We also enjoyed the Spa services and booked a Turkish bath session that was a great experience.
As an overall experience it was ok.

The hotel was very dark, the room was small the bathroom was not convenient the jaccousi is high and the bathroom is small, they don’t provide a shower gel or soap or cream only one king of shampoo to be used for everything, no tissues in the room the balcony was not clean, the closet was broken the safe not working,
The lobby was very small .
I don’t think it should be rated 4 stars it is 3 or even less.

Chic, convenient location in Pera

Our stay at the Pera Tulip was a delight! The Pera neighborhood is the 19th c. embassy district and surrounded by great things to see and eat. The hotel is just across the street from the super exclusive Soho House and the Pera Palace Hotel--so you know you are in fine company! The hotel is an easy stroll to many sites, and just a few blocks to trolley, metro & tram lines. The staff very polite and helpful. The included breakfast is extensive, although the breakfast room is small, so get there before 9 am. The rooms are modern and nicely decorated. Even ours looking to the front & main street was quiet. Avoid rooms looking into the central air shaft. The pool in the basement is a lovely oasis after a long day in the heat. It was perfect to stay three days on the Beyoglu side at the end our time in Turkey, after spending a week on the Sultanahmed side at the beginning of our trip.

a Pleasant Surprise

The hotel looked much nicer than I expected. It was also cheap, and I really liked, that the price included the breakfast and the use of the swimming pool and the sauna for free. The room was very well equipped. It even had shaving foam and a disposable razor ( I haven't seen that in any of the hotels I've been before) It even had a sewing kit, and robes if you need. The breakfast was good, with a good selection, and the room service was great as well. They were open very late. The location was also great, very close to the metro and the important things.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel, in room 1114 and I would like to point out the following issues we had:
The room lights didn't work properly and although we reported it to the reception, they just ignored the issue and never looked into it. This prevents us from being able to fall sleep properly.
The air-conditioning unit in the main room didn't work efficiently and the room was quite hot during our stay. This also affected our sleep quality.
The shower drain was faulty and caused water to leak from the shower base and fill the whole room. Again we reported this and no one came to fix it.
The pool area was disgusting and we couldn't use it. It was totally unhygienic ... cigaret buds were everywhere too...
The lift was broken for the whole period we stayed in the hotel
The 'free' breakfast provided by hotel was terrible ...
We supposed to have 2 bottle of water in our room daily but we've never had one.
The blanket/quilt they have given us was too small and wasn't enough for two people on a double bed. Again, reported to the reception with no response.
The room's TV never worked.
The reception staff were quite unhelpful plus the hotel did not have any resources and/or booklets about tourist attractions in Istanbul at all.
Have not received room service on the last day... Been told that we do not provide room service on the checkout day... How unprofessional that could be?!!!
Finally, the staff didn't know English much and we had quite difficult time to

Convenient in every way

This hotel is within less than five minutes of the tunnel down to the tram to all the main tourist attractions of Istanbul, and to Istiklal Street, with a million great restaurants. You can get a taxi in two minutes. A wonderful breakfast is included, which includes very healthy options, freshly prepared by the kitchen (eggs, fresh pastries, a great fruit salad with yogurt and honey available, and lots of other things, some of which vary from day to day).1

Nice hotel close to shops and metro

We enjoyed our stay with my family at the Pera Tulip Hotel. It is very close to the Istiklal caddesi and on walking distance to the Taksim plaza. Also the Galata Tower is just 5 minutes walk from this hotel. The staff was wonderful, they were always kind and helpful.
I am sure I will book this hotel again on my next trip to Istanbul.

not a nice hotel

I booked his hotel online after i read couple reviews online and saw some pictures of the hotel. Unfortunately, once they arrived there i was very disappointing, the room and the hotel looked nothing like in the pics. My room was super small, no space for nothing, the sink to wash your face was located in the room inside and there was one small shower in the bathroom. In addition, the room did not have enough lighting so you can barely see inside to even unpack your stuff. I was not able to even stay one night there because I was very unhappy with the hotel condition and i cancelled my stay there. I must say that the staff was nice and friendly but the hotel itself is horrible. I would not recommend this hotel unless you have no other option.

8 days at Pera Tulip.

It was 3.75 out of 5. Room was small but clean. Nice hotel decor. They seemed to miss the little things however. Odd odor from bathroom after a day or two (synomous with other reviews). No clock in the room (had to turn on TV to know what time it was). TV didn't work when I arrived but the maintenance man fixed it promptly. Room was warm and no AC (windows did open). Shower was nice. Room was always cleaned nicely and towels replenished when serviced. When you turned lights and TV off for bed, TV had a bright blue light that illuminated the room (had to tape a brochure over the light to sleep). Breakfast (included) was very great and tastey. Gym facilities were average (pool and sauna appeared acceptable - just looked, did not go in). Front desk people were not fluent in English and found some language barriers. Room service was prompt. Oh, and one of the room cleaners had a body odor that hit you like a brick in the hallway (might have been a religous thing). Prior reviews indicated loud noise from bar below hotel. This appears to have been remedied - I didn't notice any noise and curtains over the bar doors in the lobby were closed. Overall good hotel but it was just the small things.

economically modern

The hotel is located on the Mesrutiyet St., with a rich nightlife in the surroundings. I stayed in the hotel in December, with an outside temperature in the range of 40s F. My room was clean and comfortable, with modern looking ambiance and furniture. The breakfast was complementary and delicious. Finally, despite of a loud bar (with trance music) being located on the ground level, on the 5th floor I had quiet nights.

very Nice Experience

I'v been to Pera tulip 2 times and I had a very good experience. the location of the hotel is very good. it's close to Tunel and Shishane metro station. also the hotel is located in a heart of night-life and it's very suitable if you have a company and want to stay for a few nights and enjoy the Istanbul with easy access to lots of restaurants. in general I had a very good experience with the hotel staffs especially the guy who was in reception, they where super friendly. I'm just looking forward to go back there.

Comfortable Room in Great Location

We stayed at the Pera Tulip for 2 nights and 3 days and had quite a lovely stay. It was a comfortable room (albeit, small - however, I am from America and understand that some European hotels are much smaller than others). The location was quite good, it was a short walk to Istiklal Street and had many restaurants/cafes a short walk away. We didn't get to enjoy the breakfast/pool/hamam but these amenities are definitely available. The WiFi was definitely helpful & the staff was very, very friendly. Overall, a nice hotel and I would stay again.

It was good.. Good staff with fluent english and willing to help.. Clean room with good room service.. The room is a little bit small but comfortable.. The bed was small: queen bed for honeymoon is not the best option.. The toilet was clean, however, in the 4-5th day a strange smell appeared..

Trendy hotel near Istiklal Cd./Galata Tower

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights and had a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable, although the queen bed option we selected actually meant two twin beds pushed together (this is common in Turkey). On one occasion we needed ice in the room and the staff brought it promptly. The room was very clean and the interior design very attractive, although there was no way to make the room very light, or to get good light around the mirrors. The bathroom was very stylish, with frosted glass swinging doors for both the bathroom itself and the shower. The shower was spacious and had great pressure and good hot water. There was a long desk by the window that held the minibar, and some complimentary coffee/tea making items. The desk was built in such a way that the window could not be opened fully, and although this was annoying, it is probably a good safety feature. The hotel is close to Istiklal Cd. (near the Swedish Consulate and the top station for the Tunel train as well as the Galata tower. It is a ten minute walk (15 minutes at a leisurely pace) from the hotel down to the Galata bridge, and about 10 minutes in the other direction to Taksim. The pool in the basement is part of the spa the hotel has. We did not use the massage, sauna or turkish bath services, but the pool is once again very attractive, and the temperature was good. The tiles on the floor of the pool are beginning to break up, however. Also, the pool was clean, but the hot tub's water smelled funny.

The hotel has a good location. Not too close to Taksim square which is important if you are concerned about the protests. But it's close to bars and restaurants and transportation. It's easy to get to Old Town. The hotel is modern, but the rooms are quite small. I could not open the window and since the AC only works if you have your key card in the room I felt a slight smell. Since I stayed there for only 2 nights I did not care too much. The breakfast was very good.

Perfect location

I had heard that you get the worst room if you check in late at this hotel - and in my experience this was indeed true! We checked in at 10pm and were given the smallest room I’ve ever seen, which was on the 1st floor. Wifi did not work in this room (probably because it was in the corner at the back of the hotel). We had to stand on the 5th floor corridor that night in order to access the wifi. We immediately told them we were unhappy with the room and they promised to move us in the morning. True to their word, in the morning we were moved to a more spacious room (room 1103), still on the first floor, but facing but this time on the front end of the building. Wifi was good in this room and most other parts of the hotel. The rooms were clean and daily housekeeping did a good job.
The location of the hotel is perfect! It’s about 3mins walk to Tunnel station; 2mins walk to the lively Istiklal Street. Lots of nice restaurants are located just seconds away. You can’t go wrong with this location (in fact, there are lots of hotels on the same street, which proves how popular and ideal the location is).
The staff were friendly enough. The breakfast wasn’t great – so repetitive; for the sake of ‘variety’, they only changed one item each day.
The hotel has a complimentary hamam, which is a bonus.
Having said all this, I’ll conclude by saying it is excellent value for money, given the price, location and cleanliness of the hotel.

Modern and Clean hotel but rooms are very small

The hotel was clean, staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good.
The location is close to the metro station and to the istiklal area.
The only problem is that te rooms are very tiny and the in room bathroom is not comfortable .

Awful, Noisy, Smelly

Almost all hotel rooms are located directly above a night club that has the bass on all night - you get no sleep at all!! The hotel spends unnecessary money on maintaining a smelly swimming pool, sauna, claustrophobic 'gym' and a pianist at a grand piano during breakfast - but basic things such as cleanliness, quality of food, service and building are awfully neglected. Worst of all is the noise - make sure you stay in a hotel that has no night club (with open doors) next to it!!

OK hotel, good price for location

Pros: free breakfast was excellent, great location a few blocks from Istiklal Street, nice little pool, sauna, excercise room area, room although small was clean and functional (room safe, mini-fridge, decent shower). Price seemed reasonable.

Cons: Room was located right next to bar with live rock music, with a door to a fire escape (yes, a door) that was not sealed well at all, so music was very loud in room, impossible to ignore. Internet kept going down, at one point for a day and a half. They said I could use internet in their sister hotel down the street. In fairness, the hotel staff said it was not their fault but the provider. Lights were very dim in the room; could not read in bed. I asked for a desk lamp of sorts but never received one. Heat did not seem to work well (it was chilly in mid-April when I went).
