Overall, very nice stay. The loft was spacious and furnished nicely. Property was clean, and staff were very friendly. It was a bit of a hike to any of the major sites, but Valparaiso is very hilly.

The hotel is in a really nice part of Valparaiso with lots of restaurants within walking distance. The room was spacious and well-lit. The bathroom was also quite big and the shower was really nice. The staff were super helpful and gave us lots of information about the area and places to visit. The rooftop terrace is lovely with excellent views.

Great location in Valpo. All of the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to assist us—stored a lot of luggage for us, helped us bring it to our room, and was very responsive. Breakfast was cooked to order and kitchen staff was also very nice. A small boutique hotel that delivered.

This is a gorgeous property in the Cerro Alegre, walkable to everything. The staff was professional and helpful - and spoke English, which was much appreciated as we arrived after traveling for 24 hours! The breakfast was terrific, the room large and well-appointed. Highly recommend!

Lovely home away from home

We did not arrive until late at night. The hotel was expecting us. They called us by name and greeted us with a friendly smile Check in was quick. The fellow took our bags up to our room for us, set us up on Wi-Fi and answered any questions we had.
The room was large and lovely and overlooked Valpariso Bay. The bathroom was fully renovated, and there was a small kitchen more like a studio apartments. The place was spotless and secure. Breakfast the next day was tasty and eggs were cooked to order. There was an elevator which came quickly. We will stay there again in a heartbeat. We will be back to Valpariso, as there’s much to see and do.

Wonderful and very helpful stay
They were all great
It’s very hard walk around the hotel since the hole city is on a huge hill
We had a few problems with no internet on the third floor where our suite was for the last day so couldn’t see movies
Also big problem with the shower with the water being scorching hot and a dribble of cold. They said it couldn’t get fix because of water pressure. So very difficult and almost impossible to shower and we were there 5 nights
The last small problem was the toilet seat did not line up with the toilet so you needed to be careful so not to fall in and that couldn’t be fix without tools and complicated
Other then that very nice place and nice staff

I loved my stay at Galos

Casa Galos was a very nicely done complete remodel of an old mansion up the hill in Cerro Conception Valpo with a rooftop deck and great view of the harbor, and close to several excellent restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast healthy and fresh. I highly recommend it.

The location and staff for this hotel were very good. After touring the entire city it became clear that this hotel is in the best location. The staff was always very helpful. We had one tour scheduled to start early in the AM so the staff was eager to prepare a breakfast for us to eat in our room as their breakfast time did not start until 8:30. However, the cleanliness was questionable. I didn't pack my slippers so I walked around my room barefoot. Before going to bed I looked at the bottom of my feet and they were totally black. From then on I wore socks, but had to throw them away.

We only stayed for one night but it was amazing. Our host set up a table on the terrace so we could have sunset drinks then enjoy food platters we had bought from nearby café Zeit. This was out third stay at Casa Galos and hope to get back to this amazing city again one day.

Highly recommend! We had a great 1 night stay in Valpo. The front desk staff were all so friendly, spoke great English, and had excellent food recommendations. The room was spacious w/ natural lighting, bed comfy with extra blanket/pillows, and nice bathroom and shower. The terrace has an amazing view of the city and even a bartender up there on weekend nights (til midnight I believe). Nice touch and met some other travelers there. Location was excellent for exploring Valpo. We even got a free bottle of sparkling champagne for booking thru Expedia !

I stayed in a loft that felt like a home. It had a full kitchen and overall pretty spacious. The furniture and some light fixtures show some wear and tear but I didn’t mind. The employees were all very attentive and helpful (as all the Chileans I met). Breakfast was very good (fresh and varied selection). I would definitely stay here again. Thanks!!

Just a beautiful remodel done with care and attention to detail. Beautiful roofdeck with spectacular views and a wonderful breakfast. And a special shout-out to Juan Victor who was a great host who not only had great suggestions for local haunts, but also suggested details that provided for a great trip up the coast (including lunch at Horcon, a secluded fish village and then on to Cachagua, a fantastic public beach nested among multi-million dollar homes from which you can walk an easy coastal trail and see wild peguins on the island that is just off shore). Magical - and thanks again Juan Victor.

The staff at Casa Galos are super nice and helpful-thanks to Victor and Max for their advice and recommendations. The location of the hotel is an excellent base to explore Valpo and really nicely decorated. I stayed in a loft which was really spacious. Breakfast was really expansive, eggs, bread, cereals, cake and yoghurt and fresh fruits. The bathroom is a little dated and could do with updating.

I liked this property because the staff was very welcoming. I arrived around 10 am and they checked me in immediately and provided a coffee and slice of cake which I enjoyed on the rooftop terrace which offered spectacular views of the harbor.
The hotel also provided free breakfast and tips on unique sights to visit such as the sealion resting spot which was not included in the free walking tour I had taken. The staff was exemplary and everyone had some level of english bilingualism. They treated me like a colleague and I was very appreciative. I've read a few reviews that recommend that you should stay in a floor on a higjer elevation. You can actually save money by booking the least exoensive room and enjoyong the views from the terrace.
The continental breakfast was delicious. A combination scrambled, eggs, bread, cereal, juice, fruit. The room was very clean and the bed was large king sized and comfortable, the wifi was strong and the bathroom was clean, although there was a bit of mildew in the corners of the shower basin.
All in all this was an excellent stay and I would recommend it.

Nice hotel, but quite overpriced for what it offers. We were the only ones staying in the entire hotel the day we visited. We were initially put in a loud double bed room but they did move us to quieter room with a larger bed facing the sea, which was nice. The breakfast on the terrace was lovely even on a cloudy day.

Great hotel in a nice area. Very quiet, beautiful area. It’s a 10 minute walk uphill from most places tourists will go. Great staff, very helpful. Amazing view from the comfortable roof. The roof closes at midnight, for noise reasons, so no late night parties up there. Room cleanliness was not perfect but definitely acceptable. No air conditioning. Would probably stay here again because of the great value.

Beautiful Luxury Room with a View

Loved the Gala loft. We stayed in the luxury apartment so I can’t speak to the normal rooms. It was worth the upgrade! Plus the location was perfect, the staff were very friendly and spoke English (a bonus) and the view from our room was great. We spent two nights there and recommend going to the Concón dunes for sunset if you have time.

A lovely boutique hotel, with unique decor and a friendly staff. The studio room we stayed in (#6) was clean and spacious, with a microwave and refrigerator. Comfortable beds. Roof-top patio with a great view of the city, hills, and harbor - a fine spot to curl up under a blanket and watch the sunset fall and the city lights glitter.

The American breakfast was great - plenty of cold entrees, coffee, and scrambled eggs on request - fueled us up for full days of walking around the hilltops being gobsmacked by all of the incredible street art.

Only down-side is that one of the major streets next to the hotel is cobbled, which caused the street noise to be quite noticeable well into the night. I expect all of the hotels in this area of Cerro Alegre have the same issue.

There's a nice little Italian cafe right around the corner - try the lasagna!

Loved Casa Galos- gorgeous rooms, perfect location, all the amenities (a/c, minibar, nice shower), but staff really make it the best. Go out of their way to be helpful. Felt so comfortable and welcomed there. Came back after going to another place next door (they were booked for one night so had to move)- and liked Casa SO much more even though the other place had higher ratings. If come back to Valpo, will stay at Casa Galos again. Only negative for me is bottom floor a bit loud with footsteps and blackout shades aren’t total blackout - but I’m very sensitive to light and noise. Heavier sleepers would be fine. Upper floors are quiet.

Mostly Americans that stayed here so if you're worried about being able to speak the language, this place is great. Can be challenging to find parking if you drive, but we did just fine while there!

I loved this hotel so much. The location was phenomenal--truly couldn't imagine a better location in all of Valparaiso. The service was exceptional--everyone was warm and friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee superb. My only slight issue was that I could hear people in the other rooms more than I wanted to, but I would absolutely stay there again--although I might ask for a room on the top floor next time to help with some of the footstep noise.

We came to Valparaiso for an overnight stay and loved staying here! The staff was extremely helpful in assisting us with parking accommodations, they gave us recommendations for dining and walking around, and they made us a delicious breakfast the next morning! The room was spacious and cozy and extremely clean. The rooftop terrace was the cherry on top to make this a phenomenal stay! I highly recommend this to anyone going to Valparaiso.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Galos - particularly since we felt the staff went our of their way to accomodate us. We turned up early, so they sat isn down with a cup of tea and cookies while they rapidly turned over a recently vacated room. We had to leave early the next day (and therefore before they started serving breakfast) so they put breakfast things in our room that evening so we could get away well fed The loft room was spacious and airy and bed comfy. Not a huge shower/bathroom but that was no problem. the only reason I didn’t give room comfort 5 stars is because it was weirdly very noisy during the night when cars drove down the cobbled street. We had our windows closed right but it was still quite noisy. Perhaps rooms further up or at the back are quieter? Anyway don’t let this dissuade you from staying because it is tolerable bc of all the other great qualities of this lovely hotel! thank you for a wonderful stay! Highly recommended!

Valparaiso with a view

My husband and I have travelled all over the world and Casa Galos is one of the most unique and interesting hotels we have ever stayed in. The view from our room of this colorful city was spectacular. We had a corner room with a huge window ceiling to floor beside our bed overlooking the street and a smaller window facing down hill towards the ocean. Wow, is all I can say, of this amazing hotel and colorful, city, both full of character. The staff at the hotel were like mini tour guides, providing us with a map and a route to take to enjoy the sites, recommendations for dinner and shopping. On the roof is a small sitting area, with comfortable couches, chairs, cool breeze and spectacular views. A great place to chat and bring up a bottle of wine or beer and appreciate the hills. There are so many restaurants in the area, you can have anything you want, from fine dining to empanada's. Small grocery store just around the corner for bread, cheese and meats, and just down the street within 5 mins, a small store that sells beer and wine as well. Could not have asked for a better location.
