Confortable hotel but in an area...

The hotel is big and quite comfortable inside, but graffitti outside and location in an area with abandoned buildings made our arrival weird. It was Sunday night and maybe that made it look even worse. A sunny monday morning and the good attention of front desk made everything look better. We could even walk to the tourist zones.

The view of the Bay/water front was beautiful. But if you were looking for the beach you need to go further up or down the coast. The hotel is clean, staff very friendly and the breakfast was more than just coffee & bread. You had fruit, egg, sausage, pastries and so much more to eat. This area was very walkable. As you walked the city the dining options were plentiful from Pizza to Chinese to local dining. Public transportation was easily found.
The only disappointing aspect of the city was the Graffiti that was everywhere. But we enjoyed our time in Valparaiso.

I picked this hotel because of its proximity to the cruise terminal.The hotel is very clean but feels more institutional than a welcoming place to stay. The room offered very basic accommodation. There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, no tissues in the bathroom. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable for me. We paid for an ocean view room at the front of the hotel which overlooks a major road so it was noisy to sleep until the traffic died down at night. The breakfast is adequate but not great quality. The oj tasted like sugar water that had had orange flavoring added. I wouldn't stay here again.

We were robbed inside the hotel lobby. Doors wide open No security and the staff did not assist us in anyway. Wouldn't even call the police for us to report. Poorly trained staff. The best part was that the breakfast staff was friendly and food was fresh. We reserved a city view and instead got a view of a dilapated rooftop.

Average hotel for cruisers

Here is my recent experience with this hotel. I stayed there for a post-cruise stay of one night.

Pros: location for cruisers only in my opinion. From the hotel you can walk along the train track to the cruise terminal in Valparaiso. Approximately 800m walk.
Room was clean and bed comfortable. Our A/C unit did not work well so this was a negative point for me. Breakfast was good and had a nice variety of options.

Cons: Location is not an incentive to go for a walk around. We took Uber to go to Vina del Mar which is nicer and not far.
Check-in was average but not more.
I believe this hotel needs more love.

I would recommend ONLY if you take a cruise from Valparaiso cruise terminal and you want to be close,

This place was within a short walking distance to the cruise port even with our luggage. Room was clean and spacious. Beds were ok. Shower presser is great but shower walls had mold spots everywhere. Signs of restaurant time is wrong. Staff in restaurant unfamiliar with the availability of food. No other food along water front. I'd stay more in the city next time.

Nice hotel. Walking distance to shops and dinning. Walked to Funicular and back. We picked it as it was close to harbour and we were headed out on a cruise. Stopped by the oldest bar in town, The Liberty Bar. Close to hotel.

The hotel is in the perfect location for access to the Valparaiso-Vina del Mar Metro, and for the walk to Cerro Alegre. In spite of the protesting that has been going on, everything functions normally, and the staff is super helpful and kind. There is a Santa Isabel supermarket a block away, which is convenient. I really appreciate the ample breakfast each morning--I couldn't start the say without it!!!

This is a excellent choice and represents very good value. It’s not flash, but it is good. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The wifi was good and I had a lovely view over the port. Breakfast is extensive, though if you want decent coffee you have to pay for it. It’s centrally located so you can walk to most places. My only real concern is that on 3 occasions housekeeping entered my room without knocking while I was there.

The front desk staff were very helpful!!! They spoke English and gave great suggestions for stuff to check out. Check in process was easy. Location was fantastic. Little markets, great food, and good bars that were easy to walk to. Area felt safe and was easy to navigate. Bus stop was right there to head to Vina del Mar or other locations.

Excellent hotel, spotlessly clean. Paid extra for sea view and highly recommend, always something to see and very nice to watch sun set over the port.
Breakfast is good. Location good. Good restaurants and cafes within 10 minutes walk. Bus station 20 minutes walk.
I noticed done reviews complaining of graffiti on outside of building. There are tags but don't let that our you off, very nice inside

I stayed at this hotel six nights over two weeks. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was amazing, good selection of fresh fruit. I didn't realize until my 5th night that although each room has a remote control the adjust the temperature, but temperature is controlled through a central system. You basically can turn on/off the system. Although it was Feb at nights temperature drops to about 14 degrees and for some strange reason they turn on the heat at night. One night they turned on the heat so much that I couldn't sleep. Hotel management was very apologetic and agreed to give me credit for that night. Since I had booked through Hotels.com they asked me to informed Hotels.com and they basically will give credit for that night. When Hotels.com phoned exactly a week ago (after I had checked out) there was not note on my file and hotel didn't refund the one night that they had promised me. I was very disappointed by their dishonesty. If you have any problems with this hotel try to settle before the check out otherwise they might not honor it later. Also make sure that they don't turn up the heat too much at night. With blankets in room (and also extra blankets) I wonder why they turn on the heat at night.

The location was very interesting as it was close to main tourist areas and the ascensors or lifts so getting uphill to a couple of major tourist areas was excellent.
There was several major tourists markets nearby which was a bonus as the room had a small bar fridge. Restaurants were also close by but the area is kind of quiet at night as many buildings are vacant. There was the metro station very close so a trip to Viña Del Mar was very easy. The hotel lacked decor and was a little sterile but they had an amazing breAkfast.

Hotel rooms are reasonably clean but hall carpets and that in room need a deep clean or replacing. Windows certainly needed washing for the entire building. Breakfast provided was reasonable. Quality of the food in the dining room was questionable and as a result I only experienced it once

Double charge for one night stay

The hotel was okay. The short girl at the front desk, I suppose the only staff member who could speak English. According to you itinerary #7218263097381, print out I had three (3) choices for payment. C$111.43 or US$85.00 or
even in the Chilean Peso. I had Canadian cash which she refused to accept. I showed her the print out, and she became agitated and said I want US dollars. Then I mentioned, according to this print out I can even pay in Chilean Peso (if we stay less than 60 days, and that is according to your government. She, in a raised voice, said I don't care about it, I just want US dollars. I want to go out to get a taxi because it was getting close to our Cruise check in, hence, I gave her US$85 in cash and rushed out for the taxi. I thought that was done and everything was settled. But it was not - when checked my Visa Bill I found a charge of C$117.07, transaction date Dec. 20, 2016 (the exact date of our check-out. Thus, I was charged twice for one night stay. It is not a fair way to deal with customers.

Double Charge (Cash and Credit Card)

When in the morning of Dec. 20, 2016, when I went to pay for the stay, I found the front desk girl very nasty. My reservation said I could pay with Canadian dollars or even with Chile Peso. She disagreed me - she wanted only US dollars. My taxi was waiting to take us to the cruise ship, hence, to settle it in a hurry I paid $85 (US) in cash, and hurried out to catch the taxi. I that hurry I forgot to pick up my receipt.
When I checked my Visa bill I found a charge of %117.07 (CAN). I called the Hotel but because of Spanish language, I could not make out what their answering machine said. I contacted Expedia, and its representative, named AYA, called the Hotel. Their front desk clerk confirmed that I had paid cash and it was just an advice for my card, in other words, it was no charge. My Visa Card issuing Bank wants the receipt for my cash payment. I request EXPEDIA to help me get my receipt from this Hotel. Thank you, Mukhtyar Tomar (I was the one who had the booking, not my wife Vidya Tomar).

Location is good. Room big and nice. You can't use Air con over night because it installed almost above the bed and your choice to switch it off and open windows (if you room facing back side) or no choice if room facing ocean noise road.
Pool is very, very dirty so please don't even think to use it. If you book shuttle bus in hotel , it cost you $60 for 5 min ride to the port. If you book bus at the port (15min) walk, it cost you $20

They let us check in early and gave us an oceanview room as the king bedroom requested wasn't ready until later. We liked the room. Wi-Fi was very weak. No coffee or tea making equipment. Tv channels only in Spanish. Beds were comfortable.

Great city hotel!

We were hesitant about picking a hotel that we knew nothing about but really lucked out on this one. It is a very clean, modern hotel in the heart of Valparaiso, within walking distance of many shops, excellent restaurants, Plaza Victoria, etc. The hotel staff went out of their way to help us with everything from currency problems, arranging a ride to the Santiago airport, to figuring out how to use the @ key on the computer keyboard. In fact, several members of the desk staff were fluent in English which was a necessity for us, since we speak no Spanish. The restaurant in the hotel is actually very good and serves a great buffet breakfast. The hotel is also very close to a bus stop which made a trip to Vina del Mar quite easy. My only complaints are the graffiti everywhere, which seems to be a South America problem, and the fact that the pool and gym are quite small.

The hotel was great in downtown Valparaiso where there were plenty of good food and drink options. My only critique was that the hotel had very poor Wi-Fi with very slow and patchy connectivity. This was very frustrating as I was there for business.

Overall, it was okay. Knowing what I know now, I would've chosen a different hotel because this hotel was pretty dated. The room had that musty, old smell. There wasn't much around the hotel so you would have to commute to get to where there are a lot of bars and shops.
