This hotel was wonderful! The room was so spacious and bright. The shower was so relaxing and spacious. The toilet was separate from the bathroom which was a nice feature. The breakfast buffet was delicious, abundant and staff was friendly. The on site restaurant- Limoncello- was FANTASTIC! The waitstaff, especially Jen, was so friendly, informative and charismatic. My family and I would absolutely stay here again!!

Rooms- the rooms were very specious and well kept. Very high tech i.e. scanning key before selecting floor. Easy to request for room service and 'do not disturb'
Easy control of the heating.

Breakfast- excellent spread of food and choice. The best breakfast I have had for a long while. Minimum 10/10 rating.

Staff- nothing to fault. Great level of service and staff very friendly and approachable. Very professional.

Location- great to get into town very easily with cabs/Uber.

I would highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely be returning.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Van der Valk Hotel Gent, and I must say, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality, making me feel welcome right away.

Upon check-in, I was offered a lovely glass of cava, which was a nice touch and set the tone for a relaxing stay. The reception staff were not only friendly but also very helpful, providing me with all the information I needed about the hotel amenities and local attractions.

The hotel itself is beautifully maintained – it’s incredibly clean, and everything feels fresh and well cared for. The rooms are spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed, offering both comfort and style. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed, which made it easy to unwind after a day of exploring the city.

The location of the hotel is also ideal. There are excellent public transport connections, making it easy to get to local pubs, restaurants, and other attractions. Whether you’re planning a night out in the city or a quiet evening at the hotel, you’ll find plenty of options nearby.

The breakfast was another highlight of my stay – a great selection of fresh, high-quality items to start the day off right. There was a good variety of options, catering to different dietary preferences, and the dining area itself was bright and welcoming.

Beautiful modern hotel with a car park.

We only stayed at this hotel for one night. After a long drive, we arrived with no real expectations when booking—our main priorities were having secure parking (note: there’s a €10 fee) and being reasonably close to Ghent city centre.
What we loved about this hotel is that from the moment you walk into reception, it feels clean, modern, and welcoming.
The family room we booked was surprisingly spacious and bright—I honestly didn’t expect to get such a large room for a family. More hotels should take note and offer proper double beds for families! The room even had a comfortable seating area, which was a great bonus.
The only minor downside was the lack of hair conditioner. I always wonder why, in this day and age, hotels don’t provide it as standard. Many travellers rely on small travel-sized bottles, so finding it in a hotel always feels like a thoughtful touch.
Other than that, everything was perfect, and we would definitely stay here again.

I often stay at Van Der Valk as “you know what you get”, which is usually high standard for affordable price. Whilst this hotel outside of Genk had spacious rooms, very comfortable beds it had several drawbacks which you would not expect. Small things like no separate light switch for bathroom (same switch as for the bedroom) but the worst aspect was that the rooms were not soundproof at all. Noise and conversations from street level clearly heard in our rooms. That is unusual for Van der Valk which usually gets the basics spot on. The area of the hotel is really strange and you should only see this as a “motel” as you need a car to get anywhere sensible.

While it’s in an industrial area - perfect for the arena nearby - it’s also extremely welcoming, comfortable and family friendly. The food (breakfast and dinner) were both standout, the room was spacious and comfortable and the staff very friendly. The whole place is very tranquil. We’ll definitely go back.

Industrial buildings were very ugly

Stay was fine but horrible location. Very industrial buildings all around, terrible views in every direction. Ghent was having their annual 10 day music fest and therefor NO bus service to this area…very inconvenient and extra unplanned expense having to use uber and taxis 2-3 times a day.

Staff went out of their way - Great hotel

A modern, clean and spacious hotel. Our family room was fantastic, our daughter loved her bunk beds and the large cuddly toy animals left to play with. The hotel even left a rucksack and soft toy for our young son in his cot. Lovely bath, large comfy bed with TV in front. Really happy with the accommodation. Probably more of a business hotel than traditional family hotel, but the facilities were still great for kids and staff were very helpful to accommodate our young kids. There is a small play area with slide and climbing frame and my daughter especially enjoyed watching the chickens!

The service could not have been better, hotel reception and restaurant staff helped to warm milk and meals for our children and gave helpful guidance for trips into the city.

There is a large supermarket right next to the hotel built into the Gent football stadium which next door. Incredible location on a matchday.

Worth noting that the hotel is a small distance from central Gent. We found it easy to reach by bus and tram (25 mins total). The hotel staff offered to arrange us taxis for approx $20. Driving was a little trickier due to the low emission zone in central Gent but again staff pointed us towards parking options.

The hotel is next to a stadium and on an industrial estate. You cannot get anywhere from the hotel as its far from the city. The views from the rooftop bar are of factories, cranes and car parks. The hotel is expensive and is nicely decorated but they have the audacity to then charge for everything else, parking, an extra bed for a child and even a drop if milk for a tea in my room. Staff are unbothered by guests and bordering on rude.

Safe parking with barrier entry. €10 per night.
Restaurant was the only place to eat in the evening due to refurbishment. Food and service were excellent although a bit pricey
The roof top bar was closed on the Wednesday night when we stayed
Separate toilet and shower room ( no door on shower room ) which was handy. Lighting in shower room wasn't very bright, not good enough to put your make up on !
Selection of teas was limited to either green tea of earl grey.
We felt that the pillows were too soft and there was no opportunity to change.
Breakfast selection was extensive, we enjoyed our meal.
Overall a good stay but could have been a bit better for the price

This was our second time here. We felt so rested the room was so comfortable,. Everything was above expectation and didn't disappoint, I love the bed, slept like babies. My husband and I are tall people and we felt like ants in that bed. It was so damn comfortable and bathroom was so classy with everything you need and everything was of good quality not the dry stuff that leaves your skin itching. The staff was lovely and the restaurant had a lot of options on offer for all meals.one of the best burgers I've had and pheasant breast and the beef stew thingy was yum. Will go back if I can again. Great experience

It's a nice hotel - although a bit far outside the city - easy by taxi, not for walking. We had a problem with our air-conditioning. It was very hot. They switched our rooms - the switch was better. The beds had some kind of 'topper' on them - it was not uncomfortable, but it had a tendency to slide off the box frame underneath. My favorite thing was the roof top bar - EXCELLENT cocktails.

Overall - it was a decent stay and a decent value - some things can be improved (AC / mattresses) but other wise a decent option in Ghent - and, DOG FRIENDLY!

The reception staff were extemely friendly and knowledgable, cycle parking/storage was easy and safe. The only downside was having to get a taxi into the city but still, it wasnt too much of an issue.

Great hotel with really nice rooms and breakfast, in a quiet location. The only thing I didn’t like was that you had to pay extra for parking, when they have lots of space, and that they took £250 refundable deposit for my room when I already paid £180 for it. The minibar was also empty.

Modern hotel located next to a large stadium and an industrial zone, in the outskirts of Gent. Although it was a bit difficult to navigate the narrow alleys leading to the hotel entrance, it is conveniently located next to major motorways and about 10 minutes driving to the city center.
The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. Parking is convenient and plentiful, it costs 10 euro per night.
The staff was helpful and accommodating. The nice restaurant located on the ground-floor was quite busy on a Saturday night and on a holiday night but easily available on weekdays. The menu was impressive and quite pricy. You can have drinks and snacks in the lobby and they make ordering very easy on line. Service was prompt, actually faster than in the restaurant on a busy night.
They provided an amazing breakfast with endless choices that should meet anyone's expectations. Breakfast was included in the price of the room for the duration of out stay.
Public transportation is available to the train station where you have to change to the citycenter, but only runs on weekends up to 8pm. You can conveniently buy tickets on the buss.
There is a large supermarket opposite to the hotel and a small refrigerator available in (all?) rooms.
The hotel does not have a pool, but only a spa. We did not use it.

Beautifully clean and spacious hotel. Decent gym with everything you need. Breakfast was amazing- don’t miss out! Staff all suoer friendly and pleasant. Underground parking easy to navigate. We had our dog with us and they left little dog treats in the room- that was very welcome for our little pup!

Super chic experience!

This was one of the nicest and chicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at! I decided to stay in my last night and have wine and cheese in the lobby with my iPad because the hotel was so nice. I’m sad I didn’t have time to book a spot at the Weleda spa. Beds were SO comfy. Super stylish wood rooms. If you are wanting to stay close to Ghent center, (bavo cathedral, all the site seeing, etc.) you will have to take a taxi. It’s about a 15-20 min taxi ride and the hotel works with a really nice taxi driver named Pancho who helped me all weekend.

Pleasant stay

Lovely modern revamp of this formerly old school Dutch tourist class hotel brand. Affordable parking, well designed rooms, regular sized toiletries, and a short drive away from the town center. Reception staff at check in was very helpful in providing tips for town center parking. The only down side is that there is a small hourly fee for late check outs. Also, breakfast is disproportionately expensive, but there is a good supermarket across from the hotel entrance where you can pick up excellent breakfast supplies. The underground garage can get full in the evenings, although there is an overflow lot across from the main entrance driveway.

This is a lovely hotel. We stayed as tourists. It is pretty far from the Ghent tourist area. It is beside a very nice football stadium. It appears geared for conferences and events. The staff and hotel are excellent. We ate lunch at the restaurant both days and it was very good and a decent value. The only thing we wish is there was a provided shuttle to the station or tram to avoid the bus.
