Such a warm welcome, great to have the parking once worked out where to go, though at a price. Apartment great, spacious & spotlessly clean, well equipped if staying for longer. On 4th floor so very quiet - woken up first night by another guest hammering on his door but this was not fault of hotel! Chose this as had elevator which was perfect for my elderly parents & though a little out of town, could walk to tram stop or get an Uber if don’t wish/unable to walk the 20 mins or so

As a two night stopover we found the accommodation to suit our requirements, close to the centre, the sites and had secure parking for the motorcycle.
On arrival, the check in was easy, our room had a view towards the centre, good air con etc.

Fantastic stay. My good experience started before the stay when I checked they could provide a cot for my baby daughter and a parking place with ev charging (both yes). We arrived a bit after 10pm, when the staff closes the desk and access to the property. We called from the entryway and were given access via a code we entered into a lockbox right there. The place was clean, and everything worked fine. The furniture could be more comfortable and the space would feel more welcoming with some interesting art on the walls and perhaps a rug, but sleeping was great, even in the cot where my 23yo rested very well, and there was enough room for us 3 to spread out and enjoy each other.

This is a fantastic place to stay. Close to public transport. Well appointed, spacious rooms. The staff were incredible, especially Meliesa, who will definitely win receptionist of the year. She went over and beyond, train tickets, bus timetables, city card, recommendations of places to visit all with a cheerful, happy demeanour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Castelnou Apartments and would recommend it to any traveller.

Stayed for 5 days and would have to say it is the friendliest hotel with most helpful staff we have experienced. Large rooms, spotlessly clean and amazing breakfast included in price. Catered for gluten free ( if advised beforehand) with a special plate of rolls and pastries brought to table.
Ghent itself is the best treasure (the Ghent Alterpiece 16E tour essential) but also a good base place to stay for train trips to Brugge, Antwerp etc. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to Gand Dampoort station and also a 15 minute walk to historic centre. But it’s a nice walk along the canals. Also a bus outside hotel for 2.5 euros if desired ( or reception sell 10 tickets for 17 euros for buses and trams).
We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are fit enough to do the walks to station or town or have a car.
Don’t miss the little hidden market just a few hundred metres away with wonderful local produce of fruits veges cheeses coffee and cakes. The hotel has cooking facilities in each room if needed

We used the restaurant and the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The lady on reception was extremly helful, showing us the best route to walk to get to the main attractions. Unfortunately, it was a bit too far for me to walk as I use a walking stick. She then shown us where to catch the bus, just round the corner, and wrote on the map the names of the stops. She also told us about the boat trips and that you pay less if you are over 65. The boat trip is well worth going on.

Great reception staff and very welcoming on arrival. The property is only a short walk from the centre and all the main sights of Ghent. The area is quiet and away from nightlife and traffic noise. The room was a good size and we made good use of the small kitchenette. There was a generous variety of buffet style breakfast on offer.
We struggled to control the room temperature using the thermostat and were a little overwhelmed by the heat in the room. It would probably be ok for those who like a more cosy temperature but it was too much for us.

What a great place! We wanted somewhere roomy, self catering and convenient. Brilliant, quiet location, easy to walk into the centre. Very good accommodation with a superb breakfast included. We ate in the restaurant on a rainy night and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending this venue.

Nice welcome and very informative gentleman on reception. He took the time to tell about the routes into the centre and was very welcoming. Room was spacious and clean. Was a little tricky getting the heating right but in all,this was a minor thing.I would return even if the location is a bit further than expected from the centre.

The hotel was renovated in 2011 but it looks great it looks like it was renovated a couple of months ago everything still looks new the bar and the restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious I recommend this hotel and give it the highest rating.

Being an apartment we had lots of space which was great.
Not much in the way of towel rack for hand towels or in kitchenette area.
Shower rose is positioned on wall at back of bath, but long curve of inside of bath made it very difficult to shower without leaning backwards. Rail needs to be moved more to the side.

Great quiet hotel.
Really nice, comfortable hotel off the town center, so quiet but an easy walk. Also great public transportation - the bus stops less than a block away from the hotel. The front desk staff were extremely helpful in helping me navigate the bus system and provide maps and brochures. Restaurant food was good, with good beer selection.

Only 15mins walk for sightseeing. Could have definitely stayed longer as apartment had everything we needed. Very friendly, helpful staff. Have us tourist info. on arrival. Would book again if in ghent.

Spacious aparthotel for our short Belgium stay
We stayed at the Castelnou for 3 nights in early Feb 2018. The complex is modern and clean with friendly and helpful reception staff. The mini flat had a lounge area, TV with UK channels, dining table, mini kitchen with 2 stove hob ,sink,fridge,coffee machine and basic crockery and cutlery, including a bottle opener. It has a free safe big enough for iPads etc. The bed was large and comfortable with 2 pillows each extra blankets and plenty of storage. There was a shower over the bath, nice fluffy towels, travel hairdryer and soap dispensers so take your own shampoo etc. There are no local shops near the complex , we managed to get some unpasteurised milk at a small artisan market which also sold cheeses and beers so if you want pasteurised milk, tea bags coffee etc then shop in Ghent before reaching the complex. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Ghent and some restaurants. There is a local train station about a 5 minute walk which can take you into Ghent St. Peter's. Tram tickets can be bought from the complex reception. The bus route passes right outside the complex. The breakfast was the same each day and good choice and quality, beware they do pack it all away promptly at 10am! All in all we really liked the extra space of having a mini flat, it was spotless and modern and we would return.

20 min walk from anything - but very nice
20 min walk from station and from town - there are lots of hotels right in the centre. However, you get good value for money - massive apartment, lovely bed, quiet area, aircon, fridge/kitchen, nice breakfast (bacon/egg warm, plus impressive range of continental options). Bar OK - quiet and closed early. Friendly enough staff. Only real complaint was the shower - too near the back of the bath, so you couldn't stand flat; and it wasn't powerful enough to stand further back (room 507). would stay again if we we going to make use of the fridge/kitchen/lounge area - but for a short stay, would get closer to the centre.

Staff was great. Could not have been better. The place was clean and the location was convenient for us. Also, very spacious apartment with a nice kitchenette. If I was too point to one weakness, it would be bad coffee with a kind of weak breakfast. But that is easy to overlook considering that we enjoyed everything else. I would recommend.

Stay was excellent EXCEPT for the fact that I couldn't control the air conditioning. I basically spent both nights wide awake, sweating. It was cool outside but I couldn't safely sleep with the window wide open on the first floor. That was the only part that wasn't good. The hotel is in an ideal location to explore Gent with just a 15 minute walk to the city centre. The room was very comfortable modern and clean with adequate facilities for making snacks and light meals. The underground car park was secure and reasonably priced.

Superb apartment hotel within easy walk to historic centre of town. Large sitting room with kitchenette, good bathroom, lots of large towels! Easy parking for 6E a day on safe street outside. Very helpful staff given that I made an error with the checkout date and they booked the room for an extra night at the same rate. Good breakfast.

The hotel is 20min walk from main attractions and very quiet, comfortable and in good condition. Room was generous size. Breakfast is rather average in quality and choice and this could be improved especially in terms of hot food.
Just be warned - if you want a cab to the station which is a 10min drive, you may want to book about a week in advance. We left plenty of time to get our Eurostar but when we asked the receptionist to book a cab, he couldn't get through for 10mins, then was told it would be 20mins for it to arrive. He said it was the biggest cab firm in Ghent. It then hadn't arrived in 30mins at which point I was becoming worried I would miss my Eurostar train. It was only when I asked him to try another firm that a cab arrived in another 10mins - so 40mins overall on a Saturday morning in March when the town was half empty.

I had mixed feelings on one of the front desk workers but everyone else was VERY friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, if a little stark. The breakfast was good, and I enjoyed the pastries. My only real complaint was that the room was too warm and I couldn't get it to cool down.

Immaculate hotel. Very clean, everything you need but rooms are completely grey and utterly devoid of character. Not quite central - a pleasant 20 minute walk to the cathedral - but very quiet with parking outside. Friendly staff and an OK breakfast.

Very nice room, spacious for two, well equipped kitchenette, clean and quiet. Good breakfast, too. About a 15 mins walk o city centre and trams but bus is close by. Had a third bed put in one of the apartments for an adult and that was fine, too.
