The room was a HUGE disappointment.

A \"Double Room\" means a tiny single bed and a tiny single pull-out couch, which was never mentioned until we checked in. The shower was also pathetic, while it looked beautiful, it had ZERO possibility to be adjusted in ANY way. Literally, NOTHING except for the water temperature could be moved or changed. I have never seen a nicer looking shower that was less functional.

I was also overcharged, without being informed. It was only 4 euros, but still a contract is a contract and I felt taken advantage of.

The hotel is very nice, the staff are very nice, but the rooms themselves are incredibly poorly designed.

The staff were lovely, the beds comfy, room warm and the kitchen handy but...
The shower leaked all over the floor, the shower door screamed on opening and closing and the lights were really dim.
Now tell me, who ever came up with the idea of glass walls on bathrooms? Ridiculous. I wasn't expecting 2 walls of glass (even though it was fluted) that left nothing to the imagination. Let's say there was a dinner at the dining table, which is next to the bathroom. Mum says \"excuse me for a moment\" and she closes the bathroom door however you can't help but see her face straining and hear the associated sounds. You can't miss it. The shower recess is clear glass from within the fluted glass so at the right angle, whether intended or not, you get a clear view of someone washing their unmentionables. Fluted glass, straight on hides nothing.
If they find a fix for the bathroom, it would be a great hotel.

Perfect, especially for an extended family. We pre arranged neighbouring rooms, check in was seemless, and beds and sofas were very clean and comfortable with all additional pillows / duvets clean and accessible. Kitchen pans allowed for frying, boiling, and unusually, a deep casserole pan. Fab for catering for 4. Loved our stay.

We had a Deluxe Studio. It was nice, well equipped and clean. Unfortunately there were a few flaws. No air - very stuffy. We tried opening the windows and that helped considerably but it also let in all the mosquitoes from the breeding pond on the roof outside our window. (A flat roof outside our window had a large water patch sitting there) We spent the rest of the night getting buzzed.
The shower door also lacked the drip strupnat the bottom making the entire floor wet after a shower.
I would guess the external facing rooms would be a much better option but....I'm not sure we wil take the chance on our next visit.

A great find in the centre of Gent. This is an unusual hotel in an old seminary building which has been stylishly converted inside. If you want something that mixes old and new, as well as being very convenient for the centre of Gent, this fits the bill. The studios vary in shape and size, are clean and well organised. The hotel itself was spotless and all staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and out were smooth and easy, one in person, the other a simple key drop. Having a local map built into a convenient key pouch was a nice touch.

What follows is a caution and has not impacted my review of the hotel itself. My party had two rooms and unfortunately these also accommodated at least one mosquito in each, resulting in multiple bites. This must be a common issue, as the hotel food and drink vending machine included an anti-mosquito spray. Obviously this is a difficult thing for the hotel to deal with and is not their fault, but it is worth being aware of this possibility if you suffer reactions to insect bites.

Terrible fecal smell from the shower. Unbearable. There are a lot of rooms, many of which must go unused causing problems with adequate water flow. Worth inquiring about this if you decide to book here. Otherwise the beds were adequate. It feels like a dorm. There’s a 25 euro fee if you don’t wash your dishes. I wish we would have stayed more central.

Beautiful apartment, with plenty of room for our family of four.
The bathroom was huge, and the apartement very modern.
There are a lack of hooks for bathroom towels, but other than that it was well equipped with basic cooking equipment, fans and extra bedding provided.
Staff are friendly, the location was easy from the train station, and close to all the sites and landmarks in Ghent.
We would love to stay again.

Construction work early in the morning!

Everything was nice, until it clearly wasn't.

We stayed one night and had to wake up at 8AM because of noise right next to our appartment. There was a crane and it was construction work time in the inner courtyard. We waited a bit, hoped that it would be over soon, but it wouldn't. A lot of workers were in the courtyard, so it must have been planned beforehand.

We had to wake up and get dressed and went to the reception to talk about it. They were sorry, apparently it wasn't them, but their neighbors. They offered to change our rooms, but we were about to check out at 11AM anyways. We just wanted a good night's sleep in a hotel, which was not meant to be.

We filed an official complaint, but neither refund nor compensation was granted. We were not excepting a complete refund, but even a small compensation would mean that they cared about the comfort of their customers. They didn't.

Overall it was a bad experience, but Getaway Studios took no responsibility for it, which made it even worse.

Love the interior of this property, the color pairing makes me feel aesthetic. The small kitchen unit is very useful to me and it comes with all the equipment I need to do simple cooking. The separated nook in the corner for working and eating is very nice. The bed and comforter are so comfy. Bathroom size is great and the shower is strong enough. I love the high ceiling, making the space feel more roomy. I do wish the lights are brighter but at least there is a big window. Great location to easily walk into the old town. An amazing vegan brunch place nearby called Madam Bakster.

I really enjoyed our three nights at Getaway. First, it was easy to get to from Gint Saint Peters and also from Gent Dampoort train stations. It was really quiet our whole stay and the kitchenette was helpful. The place is really close to downtown and we got a lot of walking in to all the sites in Ghent. There isn't AC but we didn't really notice there is a fan that we used and the room did not get any direct sun. lastly, the lockers were helpful because we arrived before our check in time and we didn't waste any time seeing Ghent. I would stay here again without question.

No laundry as promised in amenities on Expedia website. Kitchen is minimal. Poor WiFi.
We count on things like this when we are on long trips. When hosts are sloppy or misrepresent details it can be very inconvenient for travelers. Expedia postings are becoming less reliable.

No reception staff passed 11:30pm. The next day I went down to the same young lady, who checked me in, and explained the condition of the room and about finding two cockroaches, one walking in my hand at 1:30am and the other one hiding under the bed, she just told me she will let the cleaning crew know, but nothing else can be done in their end.

We had one issue with a leaky shower - this was either due to faulty design or a slow drain.

We spoke with the host in at the reception desk - very friendly, and they gave us extra towels, though it wasn't something they could fix right away.

Generally, a very sweet place - an easy walk to everywhere.

Hotel was very nice, modern and clean. I felt it was an excellent value. The fellow that checked us in at 12:00am was very courteous and helpful. He spoke excellent English and was extremely polite. We had to park in a non hotel owned parking garage directly across the street. Apparently the hotel has some parking available on-site but you have to reserve when booking (or arrive earlier than midnight) because space is limited. The parking garage was reasonable for indoor city parking. It cost 32euro for the 36 hours I was parked there. Metro and shops were a short walk away. It was a decent location for us as we like to walk around and explore. I would recommend this place and would stay again.

Our biggest negative comment would be that the shower door did not seal, so the bathroom flooded every time we showered and there was no drain on the floor. Other than that, there is no A/C and the glass bathroom provides very little privacy, but we were aware of both of these things when booked.

Hotel was fantastic and exceeded expectation, the area is super quiet, and the parking outside (Reep car park) is perfect. Would recommend to park here and not the hotel parking as that’s 5 mins away. But the parking outside is £6 a day more expensive (better to pay this for convenience) The street it’s on is the best location so no outside noise, then 30 second walk down the street and you’re in the hustle and bustle, surrounded by amazing architecture.
The room came with microwave, kettle, ironing board and iron, hob too with all the plates crockery and cookware.

I have to say, I would definitely be staying here again. Only one thing is the bathroom windows are quite transparent. For us it wasn’t an issue going as husband and wife.
Other than that, couldn’t recommend this enough and will be visiting again.

Incredible location! Perfect for our first trip to Ghent. Plenty of space for two of us (adults). The bathroom glass makes privacy an issue if you are not a couple, and as noted on many other reviews, the shower gets water all over the glory. Those small bathroom issues would not sway us from staying here again though. We loved the property and the vibe of the place. They have done an incredible job with preserving it. I highly recommend this as a place to call home during a Ghent visit.

I originally had a different hotel booked but changed to this one at the last minute since it was closer to the city center and I read another review saying how it was very close to a parking garage. It ended up being ideally located, especially its proximity to the parking garage. The exit door from the garage is literally across the street (literally a few steps since it isn't a wide street) from the entrance to the hotel!

The hotel room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, there was a kitchenette in the room, and it was close enough to walk around the city. If you just need a place to sleep, this is just fine. It's clean, comfortable, and affordable.

If you do plan on driving, be aware that the hotel is located in a \"low emissions zone\" so the vehicle you drive must comply or you can be fined. Google \"low emissions zone\" and Ghent to fully understand what this means if you plan to drive!

I would definitely stay here again.

It was a great little space for my family of 5. Very close to all of the things we wanted to see and do while we were in Ghent. Two issues that were awkward, there was no place to take the rubbish from our room. With 5 of us there was quite a bit to deal with, and the laundry facilities were a bit of an inconvenient walk. We thought per Expedia that there were on site laundry facilities, this was not the case.

Great apartment in a great location. The place was equipped with everything needed. It was very modern and comfortable.

The only downside is the noise from residents above or nextdoor. Also if you choose to use the car park provided by the hotel, it is not at the same location. The car park is a shared lot situated a couple of mins walk away in a residential block. You will need to check in prior to parking as you are provided with a fob to access the car park. This will then need to be returned after check out, and after you remove the car. Be aware that there is no parking bays directly outside the hotel. However there is a public car park (Reep) opposite.

I loved the old feel of the place. I take it that is was an old seminary as it’s on semanariestraat. What a great use of the beautiful building.

This hotel had easily the largest room that we have ever had for a hotel stay, while also being very clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and helped us with any requests, such as helping us with taxis and providing an umbrella for us when we weren't prepared for rain. As for location, you will need to take a taxi from the train station, but everything in the city center is very walkable, making exploration simple. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would choose them again if we return to Ghent in the future.

We booked this hotel for three nights. At 2am the first night, I booked a second hotel for the next two nights. We could not stay there another minute.
The rooms are simple, which is fine. No air conditioning (it's an old building, and at other times of the year, and prior to the climate crisis it may not be necessary, but it was HOT when we were there). They supply a very small fan which is not enough at all to circulate the air in the large room. We needed to keep the windows open to breathe at all - and this let in all the mosquitoes. We were covered in bites by midnight. There were blood stains on the walls from guests before us, obviously fro killing mosquitoes. My head was right next to these pictures (see below). And this was SOMEONE ELSE'S BLOOD!. I showed them in the morning when I was checking out early, their response was \"yes, all the walls look this way due to the mosquito problem\". They admitted housekeeping should do a better job of wiping down the walls.

My teenagers went out for a walk at 1am because they couldn't sleep, it was so hot and uncomfortable.
When I was checking out early the next morning, they told me I could have asked for plug-in mosquito repellant devices, but of course, no one told me this at check-in. They also gave us a can of Raid.

Couldn't get any money back for the 2 nights we didn't stay because it was pre-paid through Expedia.
If they would put a small window air-conditioning unit in each room, it would fix the problems.

The only good thing is location.The beds were uncomfortable, the room is not clean,water from the shower leaks into the entire bathroom.
