The room AC was not running properly . Couldn’t sleep it was very hot . Next day they provided us with fan . The room temperature remained at 75 constant .Do not visit this place .Air-condition duct and airflow is very little .Controlled by the staff in the main floor .
Breakfast was very good .
The whole purpose is to have a good night sleep . Not in this hotel .

We arrived to find the AC wasn’t working and construction activity was going on right next door! Staff were very helpful but there was little they could do. Hotel boss was going to call/write us ….he has yet to do so.

Our room was upgraded to a suit in the old part of the hotel. The room was very spacious but quite dark.
Check in was a challenge as although we had booked a B&B rate reception was adamant that our booking was room only. Luckily the app showed breakfast was included and they eventually accepted it.
Breakfast had a good selection but was very busy.
The hotel has a central location

It was an easy walk to the sites. Overlooking the canal.
We were on the second floor, and the dinning room wss above us. Very loud in the morning as well as could here the people in the next room.
No cable so no watching any late night movie

Such a great spot to us as a base to explore the old part of Gent. An old cotton mill, you can feel the history surrounding you. A few minutes walk from the thriving riverside and only 10 mins from all of the major attractions. Ghent Card well worth the money too.

Room was nice, very humid constantly in bathroom, towels evwn when dry felt damp. Shower gel in shower was empty, when we went down to ask for more, we were questioned \"really\" by staff. Description states work out room and sauna, beware says nowhere that you need to pay each time for sauna, 72 euros!!!! Every little thing had price tag attached, surprised they didn't charge us per pod of coffee.

The hotel is clean, comfy, and reasonably priced with an excellent location. I can see the Ghent River from my room and access St Bavo's Cathedral within walking distance without the hustle and bustle. The staff is friendly and very accommodating on late check-ins and early check-outs.

A diamond in the rough.

The front of the hotel is very modern looking, which is disappointing because the part of the city it is in has an old feel about it.
When you walk in the staff are very friendly and checking in is really fast and efficient.
We had a room with a canal view and the quality of the room was fantastic. The building it occupies was clearly an old warehouse and they have done a lot to make it charming and authentic. The timber in the high ceiling is exposed, and they have done a lot of work with the decor.
There are charming metal poles (obviously in their existing support places) holding up the ceiling, just adding to the warehouse feel.

The rooms are cleaned daily and are well maintained.

There is a sauna which is available to use for a fee.

We did not eat at the hotel. Hotel food trends to carry a small premium, EUR22pp for breakfast is not cheap and there are many eateries near by where you can taste the local cuisine for less.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Ghent River Hotel. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was also large. Points were taken away for cleanliness because of some cobwebs that were above the bed and sink. I was also taken aback by stored luggage being left by the front entrance- easy for anyone to take. However, overall I would recommend the Ghent River Hotel and I'm sure a view of the river would have made this hotel even more grand,

Room was not as advertised.

Booked a room with a double and two singles, but got downgraded to a room with just a double. The hotel management were rude and did not sort the issue and refused a partial refund for the difference between the more expensive room and the cheaper room they provided. Apparently we \"should have been grateful for the amazing rate we got\" . 😂😂😂.

Very convenient location with well sized room. Nice breakfast Room was very dark and housekeeping was woefully lacking. The rock hard bed was sloppily made, the glasses had lip marks from previous user. Came back one day at 1:30 and another at 2:30 and room hadn’t been made up.

Excellent location. While it may appear to be off the beaten track it is close to quaint restaurants and it is easy to walk to town center. Checkin was a bit unorganized but we were upgraded to a nicer room. There a nice areas in the hotel to sit, such as a small bar area and outside tables.

Location was great! Near a parking garage for anyone driving. The check in was a little slow and lacking in friendliness. The room looked nothing like the pictures online. Small but got the job done. Bathroom sink was clogged and backing up every time we used it and the bathroom door handle fell off. Breakfast area was nice but overpriced. Overall, not worth the price tag.

Fantastic hotel location great room although the maid service was woeful.I asked a maid could I have a few more milk sachets and was taken aback by her reaction so I never asked her again. Although we were on holiday we still wanted a lie in and forgot to put out the do not disturb sign, and on more than one occasion the maid just walked in without knocking, we felt rushed to leave the room for the day. otherwise couldn't fault the front desk staff were more than helpful and all communal areas were spotless

Excellent location in the City right by the river.

This hotel is beautiful but is let down by the absence of air conditioning. The rooms were too hot. On the night we stayed with the heating off and window open the room was 27.5 degrees all night. We let reception know but were told the hotel was full. It made for a really uncomfortable night.

Great location and lovely place. Hotel is nice but don't expect to be woken before 8am by sound of tradesmen working in rooms on a Saturday. No apologies when reported. Rooms nice but could be cleaner. Most of issue was noise level and lack of concern by staff when raise noise issues. Also no check in before 3pm, so don't arrive early as will be sent away. Should make this obvious on booking

Brilliant location. Id booked three rooms..all same price but size and views varied hugely...my room, large and with canal side view was ten out of ten but our second room had a view of a,roof and was half the size. Still decent but perhaps the hotel should grade theor rooms??

Hotel is perfectly located for exploring Ghent. The room we had was lovely and situated overlooking the river. Nice touches, robe and slippers. Breakfast was excellent, fantastic choice, replenished regularly. Only issues we had were the reception staff. Other reviews reported the same issue, which has gone unheeded, despite manager assuring that this will be looked into. The scenario being the handling of early arrival - male staff member took no interest in this and we had to ask where we could put our luggage for safe storage. He then pointed to a room and left us to it. The room was not secure. When we did eventually return to check in, no map of the area was offered or advice about the area, which can be really helpful when visiting somewhere for the first time. That said, despite the unhelpful reception staff, the overall hotel experience was excellent. Just a shame they fall short on the simple things and first impressions are important

Good base for a weekend break

Location was ideal. The room was large and adequately equipped. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Our room overlooked a no through road which was very noisy for two of the three nights we stayed. Not the hotel’s fault, but as ear plugs were provided in the room, the hotel were obviously aware of this problem.

Nice enough hotel. Good size, comfortable rooms. In great location in city centre.breakfast far too expensive at 21 euro per person.don’t bother and eat in one of the many cafes in the square at the end of the road. We only stayed one night so it was perfect for our needs however every staff member we encountered was grumpy. Just a smile and ‘hello’ goes a long way.

Lovely hotel in an old factory. If your room overlooks the canal, it's most atmospheric and also very quiet at night. Right in the old part with plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Lavish breakfast buffet in a pleasant roof-top space. Very helpful staff.

This was one of the few hotels where we could sleep 3. It was in an excellent location - everything was within walking distance. It was clean. A little run down, but this is Europe! Recommend
