The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite, from check in to graciously stepping in to help ship our luggage even a day earlier than the luggage service stated! We ship our bags always to the next hotel while in Japan. The QR code for the service at the lobby desk MUST be utilized before 1100 (which we did not know until the afternoon) to get the bags sent out in 1-2 days. The staff actually stopped the luggage courier right before he was leaving that day, and managed to get our bags to be picked up the next day, versus the 2 days per the online booking! Now, that was well above and beyond expected service and this is the part that convinced me to again use this hotel for our November, 2026 trip. We love the washing machine in the room, this was a godsend. Toiletries and the Nescafe coffee machine in the room were awesome! I did agree with the prior reviews that the rooms were markedly dark/ dim. However, I did ask the property and they informed me that there are extra lights we could rent out for the room on our next stay : ).

Rooms were very quiet and bed was VERY comfortable. HIGHLY recommend the location as well!

Comfortable hotel in great location…close to shopping and dining options. Metro was close by as well. Hotel rooms are a little dark. We had two older adults in our group and they found it hard to see in the rooms because of the darker painted walls and limited lighting. I guess it’s meant to be more romantic and cozy. It was nevertheless a lovely stay. Beds were comfy and their complimentary pajamas were very comfortable and they refreshed them every day. The breakfast buffet was good. Front desk staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Overall, a very good stay.

The room was not properly cleaned at check-in. There were hairs in the bed, and when I reported it, the manager only picked up the visible hair/dirt instead of making sure the room was fully cleaned.
The pillows were dirty, the bathroom sink area was not clean, and the room still had cleanliness problems even after I reported the issue again. Staff reviewed my photos and said housekeeping/front desk would verify and correct the room, but when I returned, the problems were still there.
I never received a real solution during my stay. This was a terrible experience, especially because cleanliness is basic for any hotel. I became sick after this stay, and I am concerned the poor cleanliness may have contributed. I documented everything with photos and escalated the issue through Expedia. I would not recommend this hotel. Do not waste your money here, and protect your health. I would not recommend this hotel..

We've travelled Japan a few times now (including a few stays in Osaka) and honestly this hotel has now become our favourite spot in Osaka. Cool funky vibes, really well appointed and comfortable rooms and the washing machine is definitely a huge bonus considering the price point. The location is also brilliant, right next to Dotunbori and Amemura and a quick ride to Osaka Castle.

The hotel is clean with a very boutique-style feel. Great location, very close to the hustle and bustle of Osaka, but tucked away enough to feel quieter and more relaxed. The room itself was clean, and having a washing machine in the room was a huge bonus during our stay.

Unfortunately, the check-in experience left a poor first impression. The staff member assisting us, Y. Philippe, seemed annoyed that we arrived early. We completely understood that check-in wasn’t until 2pm and had no issue simply registering first, but the interaction felt cold, dismissive, and lacking hospitality. When we returned around 2:45pm, we were again assisted by Y. Philippe and were told he had forgotten to scan one of our passports earlier. The interaction once again felt unwelcoming and unfriendly, which stood out compared to the exceptional hospitality we experienced at other hotels throughout Japan.

Overall, the stay itself was comfortable and convenient, especially with the in-room washing machine. Service was disappointing, but the hotel was otherwise decent for a short stay.

Property was in an amazing location and as advertised overall. We did find a small hair (not ours) in the shower, however we have a feeling it's a fluke and not standard for this property. Everything else was perfectly clean. Staff were amazing.

We didn't care for the layout of the room at all. The sink and mirror were outside the bathroom area, making it difficult to use while the other occupant was asleep.

I would say my stay there was excellent and the staff was very helpful when requested to be. The down fall to me was it did lot offer a spa or pool facility, which after the huddle and bustle of walking through the street of Osaka, one is tired and sweaty and it would have been great to have those available. The pool table was good but they did not have any chalk for the pool sticks which makes playing a little challenging. Over all I had a good time.

We stayed for 3 nights in this busy (lots of foot traffic in & out) hotel. The first 2 nights there were 3 of us (wife & daughter) then two of us for the night. I would give this hotel a five star rating except for one thing. It's just too dark in the room. Whoever designed the facility favored style over practicality. The rooms are black & lighting is sparse...my advice would be to bring a flashlight so you can find things like electrical outlets and see the amenities. The lack of light is also in the bathroom & sink areas...
As for the good, we had a room with washer/dryer...very convenient for a long trip to Japan. Also there is a microwave, small fridge and freezer. The room was NOT small by Japanese standards...plenty of room for suitcases etc though as usual there were no drawers or shelves to put clothes on.
The location is fabulous if you want to be a block from Don Quijote & the Dotonbori. There are 7-11's & Family Marts galore and there seems to be a restaurant every other shop, The hotel is a $20 cab ride from the shinkansen station.
We had breakfast outside of the hotel...the pizza place across the street has a nice one. Oh yes, the elevators have colored neon lights on the floor...so if you susceptible to dizziness, beware.
So I would heartily recommend this hotel if you want to be in the middle of the Namba area...it's certainly not quiet out on the streets. Bring a flashlight and this is a 5 star review.

We stayed at Mercure Tokyu Stay Osaka Namba for 3 nights as a group of 3 and overall had a good stay. The hotel itself looks very modern and stylish, and the atmosphere throughout the property was really nice. The room was generally clean and comfortable, although I did notice a few spots in the bathroom that could have been cleaned better.

The lighting in the room created a really nice vibe and cozy atmosphere, but it was a little dim at times — sometimes you just want a fully bright room option. Aside from that, the room worked well for our stay.

The location is excellent, especially if you want to explore Osaka’s popular areas. It’s very close to Dotonbori and a nearby Don Quijote Dotonbori, with lots of restaurants and shopping around. The station is within walking distance as well, although it can feel like a bit of a walk when carrying luggage. Still manageable though.

One really convenient feature was the washing machine and dryer available at the hotel, and the instructions were available in English which made it easy to use. The only downside was that the laundry cycle took quite a long time to finish.

Staff were friendly and helpful during both check-in and check-out, and overall we enjoyed our stay. Would recommend it for the location and convenience.

We had a good stay even though it was only one night. The room was great and it was the best bed we slept in during our two week trip. One thing to note is if your room has a in room laundry machine, do small loads as the dryer feature is not as strong as dryers in the states. Secondly, I can’t say I would recommend the breakfast. We found the food pretty mediocre compared to going to a local cafe, which there are a lot of in the area.

I do wish there were more lighting in the room. The hotel has a dark theme and the rooms are dimly lit. It was hard to see how my make up was even using the little lighted face mirror.

Our toilet room didn't have a vent. Maybe this is not required here.

The room we had was quite cramped. They had a large cushy chair that was too big for the small space.

Overall, the hotel was convenient to local sights and transportation. There are lots of restaurants and conveniences nearby. I would stay again but in a bigger room.

By far the worst hotel I stayed at in Osaka! The rooms were absolutely disgusting, the walls were stained, the floors were not sweeped, the bathroom was unbearable, and the bedding was beyond acceptable. The room was also quite small which didn’t help the situation. Despite asking hotel staff for a full clean the next day when housekeeping come, they didn’t clean anything, just folded the towels and made the bed. The reception staff were polite, but honestly the rooms and cleanliness is awful, they just use pictures of the lobby to catch people’s attention. Don’t recommend at all!

We stayed in a cozy double-king single bedroom with a lovely view of the surrounding city in Namba.

The room and bathroom were kept very clean, with a basic but functional bathroom area featuring a full shower, a tub, and a separate toilet.

The design of the room was quite dark, which made it a little tricky to put on makeup in the morning since the dark walls absorbed most of the light. The vanity mirror was positioned in a way that made it a bit awkward to get ready, and having a full-length mirror would have made changing clothes much easier.

The breakfast was truly delightful, offering a well-balanced selection of Japanese and Western cuisines.

While it took us a little time to figure out how to operate the laundry machine in the room, having it there was incredibly convenient.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and patient, making our stay even more enjoyable.

The location is excellent for travelers - across the street, then five minutes walk to the Dontonbori area. A group of four we booked two rooms. Unfortunately the hotel is very dark and will absolutely ruin your vacation mood. The room was clean but so dark that you barely see yourself in the mirrors. The breakfast buffet items were not refreshed as the morning progressed. Asking for minimal items was met with a firm “NO WE CANNOT.” Staff were not accommodating of ANYTHING asked for. The washing machine/dryer combo was a thoughtful addition to our room type but each cycle took 4.5 hours to complete.
Your base hotel makes a difference in your overall experience in a city. After the first night we wanted out of Osaka. Mainly because of Mercure Tokyu Stay Namba.

The hotel is located conveniently in the Dotonbori shopping district. Short distance to Shinsaibashi station entrance, Daimaru, Pasco and other points of interest.
Room’s could’ve had better lighting. In fact, the entire hotel was rather dimly lit.
Much to be desired regarding toilet tissue but the same can be said for most of Japan hotels.
The staff was excellent from front desk (seems to double as concierge) as well as housekeeping and restaurant workers.
Local restaurants just outside the surrounding areas and a “Family Mart” just outside of the hotel about 50 yards.
All in all a very easy to feel comfortable in a few days.

The location of this hotel is perfect only about two blocks away from the Glico sign and Shimbashi shopping street. I had reviews regarding the rooms being too dark and thought it wasn’t a big deal but it kind of was. If you dropped something good luck finding it. It was hard to get ready as there was only one small mirror at the entrance sink and since the light was so dim it was hard to check if my makeup was applied properly. The washer and dryer was a nice plus. It is all in one and we used our own detergent. One thing though it that it took two hours to finish a small load. If you have lots to wash I would recommend an outside laundromat. We only stayed two days and it served its purpose. Although great, next time I would choose one with better lighting. The small window didn’t seem to help either. Oh and also not enough wall plugs.

The buffet breakfast was really good, the amenities were ok. The staff was very helpful and it is incredibly close to the dotonbouri with a family mart 30 meters away. I also booked a room with a washer/dryer that worked really well and had the detergent available in-room. The only issue with the hotel, like others have said, is the dark \"theme\" on the paint and rooms which makes it difficult to see at times in the hallways.

GREATA LOCATION. I felt like we’re right in the heart of things, we can walk any direction and there’s something to do. Booked the king size bed room with washer and dryer, so nice to be able to wash our clothes in our room during down time. Enjoyed our stay here. Traveled with my son, and we enjoyed the twin bed room with laundry. Everything was clean and enjoyed the water/tea in the room. We had no complaints and the area was walkable to the main areas. Day tour was able to pick us up from the hotel easily.

Courteous staff, room was a good size, washing machine in our room. Good size bathroom. Location was convenient, a very short walk from Dontonburi. Plenty of shopping and food options nearby.
Our only complaint was that the rooms were too dimly lit.
