Hard place to review on one hand the staff are incredible. Any issues or questions they are on hand and happy to help. Can’t speak highly enough about how good the staff are.

On the other hand the whole building is dated. A lot of things in my room were in relatively poor condition. The wardrobes handle was broken, the fridge was okay but noisy and could do with a clean. The bed was uncomfortable but the worst part was the hotel doors. They had actual physical keys that required a bit of force to lock. This meant any guests coming home late were very loud and disruptive.

The location is perfect with shops around you and you’re roughly 10min walk from a zoo, 30min walk from all the main attractions and 30 mins from a shopping center. The airport was also only 30min drive away.

The hotel is a great place to stay and explore and the staff are fantastic. It just feels a bit of shame that the building needs some refurbishments to make it more comfortable and modern.

Perfect stay.

Rooms very clean, staff very helpful. Breakfast buffet was very good. They even prepared us a packed breakfast since we had to leave early in the morning. 4 mins walk away from bus and train stops. Very close to puskas arena.
The only thing is that the bathroom needs a good renovation but still spotlessly clean.
Will surely return if I come back to Budapest 😁

4 night stay in Budapest

We stayed in Hotel Benczur for 4 nights in Budapest. The staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in a good location. It is close to the city park which has attractions such as the Szechenyi baths, Budapest zoo, Vajdahunyad castle. It is also a 10 min walk from the subway which can take you further into the main city in about 20 minutes. The hotel itself is old and dated, but the rooms were relatively clean. The air conditioning was a bit unreliable which was sometimes uncomfortable. The breakfast was good and overall the value of the hotel was decent for the price.

Nice weekend break.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the bed could do with replacing in room 114. Had a problem with the TV in our room but was very quickly sorted out thanks to the gentleman on reception. Breakfast quite repetative its ok if you like scrambled egg's or hot dog sausages, there is also a choice of cold meats and cheeses and fruits. Drinks are cheap in the bar,can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel and the bar was cheaper than the bars outside in the city centre. Very friendly staff through out the hotel. Despite a couple of issues YES I would stay at this hotel again. Short walk for the city bus tour stop and also the metro.

Horrible. From the mold in the bathroom to the unpleasant disposition of the staff here, I would highly recommend removing this hotel from the list of accommodations in Budapest. The continental breakfast was great with lots of choices but I found the staff lacking in hospitality and respect towards guests. At one point, I even experienced what some might call racial prejudice by the front desk staff towards a person of color. And when I ran out of toilette paper in my room, the front desk agent told me that he could provide some if I were willing to come down to the desk and take it from him rather than sending housekeeping to supply my room with a roll, which they should have done anyway during their servicing of the room that same morning. Still the hotel has an excellent location in a quiet neighborhood.

Underwhelming Stay at the Hotel Benczúr

When staying at a hotel a person should be greeted and made to feel welcome I did not find this to be the case on arrival. First impressions do count. The only reson the score is not lower is that the night staff were much more of what I consider hotel staff should be at least they smiled and were helpful as best as the could be. On leaving I did let the one member of night staff know my thought and thanked him and the other gentlemen on the night duties for making my stay a bit better. He commented that the day staff are very busy with lots of people to deal with. However a polite and friendly manner with a smile does not cost any thing. Would be nice to have permanent kettle in rooms as no complimentary tea or coffee provided. Also dont think sheets are changed daily.

Quiet city centre hotel

Great location on a quiet leafy street - 5 minutes walk from a metro station. Hotel really very good value for money. Rooms good for this star rating of hotel, breakfast great. Only downside was that some staff need some smile training but overall really helpful. Went there with my 84 year old mother and her 85 year old friend and both loved it - largely for the quietness!

We stay here as it’s close to the dentist we use, Benczur is a very middle of the roadhotel. I noticed it was being refurbished in parts which is needed as it’s tired in parts. Our room was basic and clean, I asked for a kettle and cups and it was sent up immediately. I quite often asked for ice to make ice packs to reduce post dental swelling and again received it promptly. I thought the bar and restaurant food good but service slow. For the price this hotel was good, it’s 5 minutes from Heroes Square and trams and buses very accessible... if I had wanted more luxury I could have gone to a more upmarket hotel. however .we were happy

The reception staff were quite arrogant.
3 small cockroaches I found in the room, 1 by the windowsill outside our room.
Domestic staff made our room without leaving clean set of towels nor a roll of tissue paper (roll was almost empty when we left the room). They just collected the rubbish and rearranged the 3 single duvets on our bed.
We shouldn't have let them disturbed our room.
We've been to other 3-star hotels and service was way, much better than what this hotel delivered.

The rooms are dated but it is a good base for a city break. It is a 5 minute walk from Heroes Square & City Park. At Heroes Square you can catch the metro which takes 15 mins to the Danube. Breakfast was no good but there are shops/ spar supermarket a 2 minute walk from hotel. Staff were pleasant too.

Hotel Benczur: Nice hotel, unfriendly personnel

The Hotel Benczur is a typical \"conference hotel\" with adequate facilities, terrace, and a reasonable restaurant. The facilities were fine, but the attitude of the front desk personnel could be greatly improved. Everything I asked for seemed like it was \"too much.\"

I would stay there again because it was clean and inexpensive, but if you're looking for friendly front desk personnel, go to another hotel.

Clean but basic. No kettle or cups in rooms ! It must be a Hungarian thing as I have encountered this before so I pr-empted and got a travel kettle and took a cup spoon and coffee, nor was there basic complimentary soap etc in the en-suite . I
Found reception staff unwelcoming at all times, they need some social skills.if you needed an iron you had to ask housekeeping to do any ironing at a charge.
The staff in the restaurant were lovely and helpful and food was good.
As I went over for dental treatment I didn't require much but I wouldn't stay there for a scheduled holiday.

Great location, 3 blocks to City Park

Location was our maon concern, and it was perfect. three block walk to the city park with Heroes Square and the Vajdahunyad Castle complex. We knew the beds would be small, but they were only moderately comfortable as well. I haven't seen a hotel in ages still using a big brass key, rather than a cardkey system. But for one night, it was exactly what we were looking for. Food and staff were excellent.

Needed an hotel by the airport, this one came up, looked good, so we booked it. It turned out to be in town by Hero Square. We made the best of it, but it added some time to what we were trying to do. The room was fine. The help at the check-in counter was pretty disappointing. I've traveled the world, and don't remember being treated so \"snootily\".

Very clean and well-located hotel for lovely strolling around gracious streets of Budapest. Breakfast very Hungarian ( sausage and vegetables as well as the cheese and ham) - excellent and cheap coffee and breads available just up the road - a few doors down in local convenience stores. Don't book breakfast unless you love eating supper in the morning! Pricey too!

A good place for us

We've stayed here on different occasions. This time was a bit less wonderful than in the past. Our room got less attention than in the past (glasses were not changed on first day, ditto vacuuming); the DO NOT DISTURB sign kept disappearing; there was a large contingent of young people staying at the hotel for sporting events and conferences -- they, including the coach, were asked twice by us to quiet down after 10:00 pm. Our room was very nicely air conditioned. The community areas (lobby, etc) were very warm but this was due to the heat wave outside. The location is great for what we want. The hotel is trying very hard to provide amenities (nice restaurant and food service) but could add a few things like facial tissue and bar soap. As a retired couple, we'll stay here again however, we will visit in the spring or fall when there are fewer tour groups using the hotel.

A super place

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. The location is terrific; near many sites and easy to get to others. The hotel staff were great, especially our housekeeper. There were only minor inconveniences (wi-fi only works in the lobby area, electrical repair took all day though we were notified several days in advance). This hotel is used a lot by conferences and seminars as it has several meeting rooms. At times, it felt crowded and noisy as we anticipated that this was a low key place. Our room was on the 7th floor with a fabulous territorial view. Will probably stay here again in August.

This hotel is situated in an ideal location for those who are looking for a quiet place, park-like settings and close to the subway (underground). We requested a standard double room for 2 nights as we were on a budget. I would assume the superior rooms are much more, .. well, superior. But for the money we paid I would accept what we got. Bathroom is a bit outdated, there was only one liquid soap provided, no shampoo or lotion. The beds are a little too firm. But overall the hotel is nice and clean, our bedding and towels were nice and clean. I would recommend including the breakfast when booking because the breakfast buffet was extremely nice, lots of choices so it was great value for the money.
The hotel is situated near a large park with a nice pond and a castle (\"Nepliget\"). Downtown (Duna corso, Vaci Street) is about 20 minutes by subway (with 1 transfer at Deak Ter).

Cheap but you get what you pay for

Hotel Benczur is ideally located, close to Heroes Square and the metro which takes you into town. That sums up all the positive things about my stay. The hotel itself has an outdated decore and badly trained staff. The receptionists never smiled or even greeted us, in most cases it was as if they were doing us a huge favor. While we were checking out there was no \"thank you\" or \"i hope you enjoyed your stay\" , instead we were told \"you cannot leave, pay the tourist tax\" after which the receptionist took the cash and without a word left to his back office.The room was clean however the beds were small and the bathroom door would not fully close. There was no wifi in our bedroom.

feels like home

I use this hotel for years and everytime I arrive they prepare the warmest room for me cause they know I like it. The courteousy of the hotel staff is role modelling. The breakfast selection has always something new and special hungarian like 'bundás kenyér' or 'tejberizs'.
Everytime I arrive back I feel like arrive home.

Not as good as previous visits

Specifically booked a superior twin bed room as i was staying with my young daughter only to be given a key to one of the old \"standard\" rooms in the old part of the hotel upon check-in. I have stayed in both types of room at the Benczur before so knew the room allocation was incorrect and after a little investigation their mistake was discovered, but this have been the case if I hadn't known the difference? I had to wait while beds were arranged to accomodate my request for the twin room, which was sorted relatively quickly.

We arrived at Breakfast on the first morning between 9.30 and 10 (breakfast till 10.30 weekends) to find the breakfast buffet very depleted and the staff hardly attentive, i had to collect cutlery from several part cleared tables as there was none on the table we were sat at and nobody appeared to give us any which was a little dissapointing.

I have stayed in the Benczur several times before and always found it to be a friendly good value hotel, this time it just let itself down a little. I hope this was only a blip.

Great base for a short break to enjoy Budapest

The hotel is in an excellent location for all the attractions of Pest side especially city park/Heroes square and Andrassy Avenue. We were able to walk comfortably from here to the Danube and enjoy the sights along the way. Overall the hotel stay was pleasant and the staff at the reception desk were very helpful. We asked for a second pillow each for our room as only one was provided but this was not a problem. They also helped us with a restaurant reservation one evening. The room was a good size and generally clean, however the bathroom was extremely dated and only had a handheld shower head which made getting a shower a little awkward. Having said that it wouldn't put me off staying here again or recommending it to someone else looking for a good base to explore Budapest.
