Hotel Colon is by far my worst hotel experience. Despite being marketed as a 4-star establishment, the reality was far from it. The filthy conditions immediately affected our health, causing constant sneezing and coughing. The hotel rooms were in a deplorable state—ceiling paint peeling, stained headboards, and an overall level of grime that is utterly unacceptable.

Worsening the situation, the rooms facing the street had no air conditioning, forcing a switch to another room that was no improvement. The bathroom in this second room was covered in mold and rust, and shockingly, the shower had an exposed hole in the wall leading to what appeared to be a crawl space. After just one night, the poor conditions were making me more ill, forcing an early departure.

Adding insult to injury, after leaving for health reasons, both the hotel and Expedia refused to refund the unused portion of my stay. This refusal, paired with the false advertising of the rooms online, made the ordeal even more frustrating. Avoid Hotel Colon at all costs and be very weary of Expedia when booking if you value your health, comfort, and money. Pictures below speak for themselves.

The pictures on the internet do not represent the current condition of the hotel or its rooms. It is run-down and in disrepair. The elevators barely function. Our \"suite\" (Room 1202, presumably the nicest room at the hotel) was dirty, its furniture was broken, the shower was dangerous, no ice, no room service, no telephone, etc.

Nearly everything was great. The location, check in, check out, the front desk staff, guest room attendant, the kitchen/dining staff, and the continental breakfast all were very good. The only complaint? It is summer in December in Argentina. Everyone knows this. We specifically chose the Colón for its location and that it was air conditioned. Unfortunately, the AC had broken down. They moved us to a room that did not have direct sunlight and provided a stand fan. Actually, since we were not in the room during the day this, combined with a shower before bed, worked out well.

The hotel is at a good location, right at the famous Buenos Aires obelisk. One thing they need to put in the room is a chair and a table. I had to keep a laptop and a mouse on the bed. There is enough space in the room for it.

Old hotel that needs a total refurbishment. Its a 1 star or a 2 star not the advertised 4 star. Dirty and stained carpets, battered walls, damaged furniture, not sure where the nice photos of the rooms shown on the website are - certainly not the ones we saw. Some desk staff are friendly and helpful where others are just not interested and extremely rude. They refused to accommodate an early check-in after a long 11 hrs. flight. All 3 elevators were out of service for 2 days. You need to load your own luggage on a trolley and take it to your room yourself!). Breakfast is good but they don't allow to take your cup with coffee in the room. Great location! Do yourself a favor and book at Marriott (next to Exe Colon).

Pros: location was by the Obelisc. Very clean and disinterested frequently.
Cons: you cannot use the AC in Winter. The room was very warm and had to open/close the window few times during night because the hotel leaves the heater on and you cannot turn it off. Noisy. My room was on the 8th floor on the side street where people walk and which is extremely busy. A lot of people started working very early and some yelled loudly “Cambio!” from like 8am til around noon most the time. We got there on a Saturday and the lobby was very busy with only 2 people working. They did not give as a choice to early Check-in since 11am. The check in time is 3pm. The check out in Expedia is inaccurate and the real time is 11am. We wanted to pay the extra fees of our stay when checked in, but the front desk person said come back later or the next day because they where very busy. They don’t acknowledge you at all even though you only can have a quick question. There is no line, so everyone piles up at the counter to get their attention. There were no brochures of any tours suggestions anywhere at the hotel which it would help the locals get business. The rooms don’t look like the pictures on Expedia. The bathrooms on our floor were very dated. You can find bidet in them. On Sunday morning two out of 3 elevators where out. They did not put any signs anywhere and had to wait 10-15 minutes f. If you travel on a budget this is your hotel, but if you can afford paying a bit more, please avoid it.

Was a Very good location but my room was dated - they are gradually updating & refurbishing the hotel, but my room only had a newer bathroom. I had a small sitting room too. The carpet was quite dirty & smelly. A couple of minor things were fixed on request. Staff were very helpful.

The only good thin it’s location but they are others hotels in the area as well.

Room pictures not ACCURATE - 2 star Hotel

Pictures are not accurate to what you will get. The Lobby is very nice but once you go to the rooms, they are not the same as what the pictures show. The pictures are showing the most expensive suites. They should put pictures of the standard rooms you get. Carpets are stained. Rooms need to be renovated and they are a bit run-down. Very small just a bed and enough space to walk around the bed. Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms. You need to be at the Lobby to have Wi-Fi reception.
The good is the location, water pressure and the Breakfast area. Breakfast is good quality and lots to choose from.

This hotel is not that bad.

There are a lot of bad comments on here about this hotel. I dont think it's that bad. My room was ok , maybe in need of a bit of paint. The towels and cleaning were done daily, by the House keeping(i thanked them everyday once they cleaned my room) they were very happy cause i did that.
The staff were very good i had a few issues , but all were sorted straight away. One person that really stands out is Sean , he was so happy everyday, he helped me with my Spanish , and everyday there always a smile and a hello from him. Most of the staff helped out where they could.The only issue i had 2 mornings following i had no hot water to shower.I told one of the staff and it was fixed. I agree the hotel could do with a good refit, however the location, the price and the views over ride the few issues inside. The house keeping team with so friendly and the room was cleaned to a high standard. Would i return? Yes i would.

The hotel is old. The carpet in the room was wavy like coming out. The wall by the window was missing paint.
We needed toilet paper, I tried to call the front desk and housekeeping and it was busy all the time, so the phone wasn't working. I went to the front desk to ask for it, but after an hour and half had to go back to ask again because we never got toilet paper. When I took the elevator it got stock, I was inside and had to crawl out of it in the lobby of the hotel.

The hotel is at a great location, lots to do and lots of places to eat nearby. Hotel lobby is nice, very slow checkin. The room quite small, no place for open suitcase other than floor. The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the breakfast included in the rate. Tears in carpet, chips and flakes of paint throughout hallways, small single beds with the worst mattress I have ever been expected to sleep on, I sat on the edge of the bed and the mattress litterally started to flip up it was so light. This is an old and \"old style\" hotel. Nice location and nice price, but pretty dilapidated. No restaurant (but breakfast), no bar, no real work space, no ATM, no money changing (but this is Argentina). Not a good business hotel. However, staff were very friendly, lots of locals in from out of town.

This hotel is in a great location but it is always busy. There was only 2 staff to handle all the things. One can not understand English. The other one was rather stern. They did not advise how to use WiFi or when was the breakfast service start. The room was spacious but very dated. All were functional. Callings to the reception 3-4 times were unanswered. Going back to the reception to book for a taxi to the airport was unsuccessful. The receptionist tried but was declined by a taxi company. I ended up calling a cab in front of the hotel myself. If my friends asked me about this hotel. I can not recommend it. I will not go back either.

Rooms were old, carpet was EXTREMELY old and dirty. The room and bedroom smelled of wet dog, sweaty feet and humidity. The paint was coming off of the ceiling in the shower and baseboards. The view was awful. It took me days to get moved to a decent room. That is definitely NOT A 4 STAR hotel

The hotel is very nice, new facilities and safe. The only issue I had was that nobody cleaned my room during my two days stay. They have a door hanger that you need to place on the door knob, that will let them know you need your room cleaned. Please be aware of that, everything else is fine.

Bought a room based on the photos on Expedia and they do not correspond to that. Stopped on BA on my way to and back from Brazil. First time paid for the cheaper room being one night only , on my return paid extra for the double room and received the same room as the first time. Staff rude and unhelpful, had to go to reception several times to complain about things that were not working in the room. When enquired about the room standard, received rude and dismissive response. Booked twice only because of location and breakfast but regret it. BA has so many options of hotels that do not justify putting up with bad service. DO NOT recomdmend this hotel.

This Hotel advertise as a 4 Star Hotel, I just want tell everyone to check the attached photos and judge your self if it deserve 1 star, the room is with a horrendous Humidity smell, the rug is disgusting and broken, the bathroom is horrendous, the toilet leaks the black Moho stains in the roof and walls, the air conditioner is like a big box that you plug it and start but do not have any kind of regulators, the telephone didn’t work, you hold it and sound like a baby toy. The hallways all cracked and walls as well, please see attached pics, I stay at room 207 during the World Commerce Meeting. And they charge me 300.00 for 3 days.

By far, the worst hotel

There were 3 things that made me regret staying at this hotel:
1) Arriving: My pregnant wife, baby and I got there at 4pm with 3 big suitcases. Nobody even cared to help us move our luggage. When we talked to the recepionist, they warned us that the hotel's water supply was out and there was no water in the hotel and if we wanted we should go to another hotel. Maybe we should have... however, arriving at that time, without internet, it's hard to get a new reservation so we stood at the hotel. The hotel's staff argued with us about the reservation including breakfast. I printed out our expedia receipt, which basically saved us. However, we had to argue a lot for a breakfast that we already paid. They argued that expedia didn't tell them about it.
2) The Room: We got the suite. The pics on expedia looked lovely. However, the reality was so different. The room was tiny, dirty and the bed's sheet were ripped. Nothing wokrked. There was not even a single bottle of water. It was a total ripoff! This hotel might have been a 4 stars in the 50's but now it's all broken and old.
3) The Hotel's staff: We stood at the hotel for 3 nights and 4 days. We only got our room cleaned once! The room was quite dirty when we arrived so you can figure how that go. They never offerd help carring our luggage. They tried to rip us off about the breakfast, wanting us to pay for it twice.
To sum up, if you can go to a different hotel, do so. The NH is right in front of this one, or the Panamericano.

Very close to the action in Buenos Aires. The breakfast was great. Room a lil small but it will do.

Very well located but seems to be abandoned

i used to stay in this hotel anytime i traveled to Buenos Aires
though this hotel was a bit old fashioned, until recently it looked well maintained
what a disappointment to see it dirty (rooms), and crappy
i had book a suite, which basically was a room with a very old and dirty sofa and a terrace.
As hotels have non-smoking policy, i was told i could smoke on my terrace, and i appreciated it until i went there and saw no ashtray, and cigarettes butts on the ground the plants pots.
One of the plant was covered by rat or any other animal poo, disgusting.
I think this \"old mate\" as i use to call this hotel will no longer see me.
The \"Panamerican\" next door might be an option for those who want to stay downtown.

Almost terrible

I bought it as a 4 stars, my rate is 2 being lucky. Location is perfect and people is great, those are the only advantages, the rest in terrible .........

Hotel location was great!

The Hotel pictures online didn't quite match what the hotel rooms really look like. Rooms out dated. Limited towels. The location and Breakfast was great! Also the work out room didn't have much equipment. Overall I would stay again but ONLY for the location near shopping district.

I need to switch 4 different rooms because could not find A REASONABLE ROOM based on a 4 star hotel rating. Disgusting. Never go back there

Great location but very outdated

Room was decent size and location was great but very old. The bed hard, no ac or heat. The pictures are way nicer than the rooms. The cleaning staff are fantastic and so is the breakfast

The hotel service was bad, the room was dirty. The hotel's receptionists are a disaster, the do not answer the phone \"ever\". The hotel personnel are not useful, they did not help with the luggage. Overall a terrible experience! too expensive for the service.

Great location, decrepit room

The location was great, the staff was extremely professional. The condition of the building, in particular of the room, was extremely precarious. The bathroom outlet came off the wall when I tried to unplug my phone. The room and bathroom doors were swollen and the bottom was falling apart. The rugs were torn and stained extensively. The towels were rough and some had wholes. The staff was first class.

Poor maintenance

The breakfast Buffet was very good.
The wardrobe sliding doors were jammed and very hard to move, the toilet seat was loose and the sheets and towels stain.

Simply do not book this hotel

1. Very dirty bed covers
2. Humidity stains on walls
3. Not nice people reaching you when you arrive at night by taxi.
4. Missing towels in the room.
5. Furniture in bad condition.
