Very nice property just a couple of blocks from the main pedestrian area. We stays in the apartment, which was spacious and well thought-out: there were plenty of spaces to put things down, towel bars/hooks (there are never any in most places!), conveniently located shelves, etc. - all of which are minor, but very welcome when one travels with a lot of stuff, kids, etc. Separate bedroom was, of course, a big plus.

Great location. Went there in October which was unusually warm and the AC was not available. Room was very warm and staff wouldn't turn on AC. And opening the window wasn't an option because of the street noise. Other than that the room itself was very nice, clean and in a fantastic location.

When I arrived in my room I realized their wasn’t any air conditioning. It was an unusually warm day and the room was facing the sun so it was pretty warm. I asked the direction and they moved me to a garden room, didn’t have air conditioning but away from the sun and street noise. The following day they were able to upgrade me to a larger and air conditioned room. Great location and great customer service!

It was nice hotel but not to the standard I would have expected of a 4 star. The bedroom was adequate though the clear glass walls and door were odd so that anyone can see you in the bathroom, even through the window. It was very hot and there was no air conditioning in the bedroom. Impossible to have the window open at night because I couldn't close the curtains

The \"business double\" was spacious and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable -- nice to be in a smaller hotel, walkable around the historic district. Would love it if they had a hotpot of some sort in the room so that we could heat water to make coffee or tea, but that's the only improvement I would suggest.

Room was very warm with 60-70 degrees out. Had windows open for ventilation but the street noise was terrible. Lost more hours of sleep than had sleep. Stay away from tram side of building. Service was exceptional. Common areas were spotless.

My second stay at Hotel Gollner after 4 stays at another hotel... so my expectations were that it compared favourably. All was very nice, including a refurbished bathroom... but no bath and a very impersonal bedroom with no fridge and very small armchairs either side of a disproportionally big coffee table.
Bottom line: doesn't compare favourably to my previous hotel through lack of what I would call personal touch/attention to detail.
Breakfast is €15.50, which, for a light eater like me, is just not good value for money so I had breakfast out.
Great staff and location though but, overall, for what I paid, it was fine rather than great.

I was very pleased with this hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English very well. No problem with late check ins, since the front desk also maintains a small hotel bar that's open very late. Minutes from major tram and u-bahn stops and the staff was very helpful giving me some great directions around town.

Overall, a very good hotel with a relaxed atmosphere and very welcoming, efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Location excellent, with a major tram junction only a few minutes' walk if needed. Did not have breakfast there, but had a good coffee and breakfast roll to go, on last morning. Room on second floor comfortable, lacking in some modern IT conveniences such as USB charging ports, but hotel has excellent, free WiFi.

I would recommend this hotel to others.

Beautiful building and location

This was my first stay at Hotel Gollner after staying 6 times at the nearby Romantik Park Hotel.
Although the room I was given was totally adequate for my needs and its bathroom was excellent, it is obvious that I was given one of their smaller, less grand rooms. It is fair enough since I had booked a single room with double bed. This is what I got although I was a little surprised that it came with a single quilt, which somehow defeated the object of having a double bed since the quilt was smaller than the bed itself.

My other suggestion is regarding breakfast. There are only 2 choices: the full, eat as much as you like breakfast at €15 or the sandwich and hot drink to take away at €4.80. For people like me (and I guess I'm not unique!) something in between is the preferred choice. As a result, I opted for the many great places in Graz where you can have a great breakfast for €5 to €8.

Overall, a very good hotel with outstanding staff where I intend to stay again when I'm in Graz again.

Been in Graz for business. Hotel was perfect to my goal. I arrived really late, room was ready for me, really nice and perfectly clean, small problem with electrics (a lamp did not work, remote control batteries were almost off) but not really an issue. Check-in and check-out flawless and speedy, staff really kind and polite. Hope to come back, maybe I'll get the chance for the inviting breakfast.

Back near the Opera and Markets in Graz

This is an old fashioned hotel near TU Graz and the main transport hub. Its a few minutes from the Opera and the markets as well, and quite close to the CBD. Staff were friendly even when I arrived round midnight. Breakfast was excellent and would be ideal in summer outdoors. The lift was small even by Austrian standards but my room was quite large (upgrade I suspect!). My room had double lockable doors making me feel double secure. Bathroom was a little old-fashioned but serviceable, although shower was aligned perpendicular to the bath.

Very friendly welcome

I recommend this hotel - we were greeted in a friendly and warm manner by the mail receptionist who spoke excellent English. My room was very clean and recently redecorated - the bathroom was sparkling. The only problem was the broken lift which was being repaired. However, there was a porter who carried bags to the rooms, although my fellow traveller suffered with the stairs.

Good: close to old town - about four blocks; professional staff.
Bad: expensive (for what you get); poor beds - reminded me of a summer camp cot with a duvet that barely fit the bed or the beds in the two star hotels I slept in when traveling through China; poor or non-existent curtains. creaky floors, expensive breakfast but limited choice and quality; pricey parking not included. Smoke filtering through from somewhere into our room. Won't be going back.

Centre of Graz - Vary convenient

Stayed for 2 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a charge for parking the car, but seeing that the streets were parked solid, it was an essential and probably no more than 24 hour parking elsewhere in town.

We liked the central location of this hotel. We walked to a show one night and went shopping all around town on foot without any problems. There are plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

The hotel was well situated easy access to inner stadt and trams/buses. The only downside the road outside is quite noisy although there are double fitting windows to minimise noise, this however means they cannot be opened in hot weather. We would stay there again.

Great for a Weekend Break

Well furnished hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable, spacious and contained all the amenities that one would expect. A couple of minutes walk from a tram stop or 10 minutes or so walking to the town centre. Breakfast was excellent. Service in all areas was courteous without being intrusive. As well as free wi-fi, there was a desk on our landing with a PC that anyone could use for Internet access etc. (no charge). The only (slight) negatives were the room temperature, which was difficult to keep low, and the hotel's car parking, which was very limited, although there were several public car parks nearby.

Nice hotel and staff, great location and clean room. Unfortunately very poor wifi and no air conditioning. The windows open but its very loud out on the street even until 4am. So on a hot day your have a choice of a hot uncomfotable room or a cool/room with loud noise. Graz is a beautiful city though.

Gollner is just a block away from Jakominiplatz, the central transportation hub for anything within the city, so it's perfect for getting to everything and central to all the main highlights of the city you'd want to see. The property was nice, clean, we'll kept up and the breakfast was robust. I definitely recommend the place.

If driving, roads are congested and tight with many one ways, thank goodness for Garmin Nuvi. Best bet for Styrian food is right around corner at Restaurant Brandhof, don't worry about Landhaus Keller.

A Family-owned Jewel in the heart of Graz

The Hotel Gollner has been everything from a coaching inn and restaurant to an hotel. Owned by members of the same family for 150 years it is charming and well staffed. There is no restaurant on site, and the only meal that is served is a buffet breakfast that is varied, fresh and attractively presented for 14 euros. The rooms are ordinary, but spotlessly clean. The bathrooms are spacious, and there is copious hot water. The toiletries are on the skimpy side, but guests are invited to request more at reception. The receptionist doubles as bartender, and the lobby bar is open 24 hours a day. The receptionists I encountered were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, recommending nearby restaurants and booking taxis. They speak fluent English. My room fronted on the main street not far from a tram line, but it was quiet as a tomb. The bed was comfortable, but controlling the heating was a challenge (too much heat, but that's Austria). The location is ideal, around the corner from the opera house and a short walk from the main shopping area. The hotel is very good value for money, and I recommend it.

Charming hotel with pleasant and helpful staff

We had a large, comfortable room with huge windows, high ceilings, Persian carpets, and a separate area for our teenaged daughter. The staff was wonderful, and any issues (like malfunctioning wifi) were resolved quickly and efficiently. The location is a bit out of the way, but within easy (5-10 min) walking distance of shops, restaurants, and major tourist attractions. Loved it, would definitely stay there again.

OK, but....

The Gollner is a fairly old hotel in a central location, near the opera house and walking distance of shopping and sights. They serve an excellent breakfast buffet with a nice terrace when the weather permits. The staff was friendly and helpful. The downside for me was that the streets outside the hotel were fairly noisy at night. Also I was there during a heat wave the the advertised air-conditioning was laughably inadequate.

Very good localization and kind staff. There is a parking (11 euros) next to the hotel if you are with car. The Stadt hall of Graz is a walking distance, as well others turistic places. There is a supermarket (Billa) nearby (but it doesn't open on Sundays).

2 nights stay by a couple in Winter

Excellent value for money. beautiful building. Winter heating tended to be a little excessive for my wife and I and difficult to control. Refurbishment in progress was managed sensitively and never a problem. We occupied a refurbished room. There is no restaurant facility in the hotel other than breakfast (which is elegantly accommodated, courteously assisted and very good), but there is a very friendly and reasonably priced Greek restaurant 10 meters opposite and they serve late. I defy you to find comparable value in any British city. Will not disappoint. Book with confidence.

Full of charm, this hotel really surprised me after a bad experience in Vienna. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was nicely decorated in period furniture and the bed was very comfortable. The location was very good - easy walking distance to all the shops and sites in the Old Town. Lots of recommendation for restaurants.
We would stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is quite standard, not sure what criteria for 4 stars are. Staff was very friendly, room was clean, city centre is very close. We had booked the business rooms as they had air conditioning. The problem was that the airco did not work and they were unable to fix it during our 3 day stay. Opening windows is not a good option as the tram rides into the room. Unfortunately there were no rooms to switch us too so we had a pretty uncomfortable stay during the very hot summer weather. I am sure if the airco works fine that the stay should be more agreeable. Overall though the place is not the same 4 star that I usually would consider a 4 star.

Little Gem in Graz

Hotel Gollner is completely delightful with bright, clean rooms and nice lighting. It is located in a quiet area of the city proper. Very easy strolling to the river and the main pedestrian walk. There is a pleasant little outdoor patio in the upper floor. There is a 24h little cafe/bar space, which is both inviting and convenient. Would I return? Definitely. Very welcoming staff.

This was a nice hotel with secure parking, but it was quite hard to find and we spent a while driving around. Well located for the old centre. Austria does not have a smoking ban, so be prepared for smokers in bars, cafes, etc. We were there on Sunday and the shops were shut, but museums and galleries were open.

Quirky hotel near the Jakominiplatz bus terminal about 10mins walk from the 630 bus stop from the airport. The service was excellent and well above standards I've seen in many hotels in Europe. Reception was cheery and always tried to be helpful, whether it was finding a plug adapter for me or proffering an umbrella in an unexpected downpour. Rooms were rather old fashioned but clean and comfortable. The bedding was sparse (two small pillows and a single quilt) given the king-sized bed and the ventilation system could do with replacing with a proper air-conditioner as the humidity and heat in summer made sleeping difficult. The tiny sachet of shampoo was replaced once in a week. Also would have liked an in-room safe.

Nice and close to the Opera House

A short bus or tram ride from the main train station, this hotel is pleasant inside, complete with a parrot in the lobby. My room was recently renovated, with space-age plumbing that had trouble functioning and a private safe that couldn't be closed. No breakfast was included, which made it the only hotel in the five I stayed in on this trip that did not have that meal included. The front desk staff was friendly.

I stayed in many hotels, hostels and guesthouses during my trip through Europe. Hotel Gollner was recommended by Rick Steves and he was dead on. Great hotel, great staff, easy to get to location (just up from Jackominiplatz which is a major switching location for the buses and light rail). I will stay there again next time I'm in Graz.

Freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal, Zimmer war auf eine gute Weise renoviert ein guter Mix aus alt und neu. Guter Schallschutz. Matratzen für unser Verständnis etwas zu hart. Umfangreiches und leckers Frühstückbuffet.
Hotel ist nahe an der Oper und Altstadt.

Hôtel pratique et confortable.

Trés bon hotel, bien situé, centre ville accessible à pieds. Les chambres sont grandes et propres. Un petit bémol, le buffet de petit déjeuner est hors de prix (20 euros /personne) , le parking est cher aussi.

Hotel defilato dal centro storico ma raggiungibile a piedi in circa 10 minuti. Noi eravamo in moto e lo abbiamo scelto perché ha un garage privato (a pagamento). Struttura datata ma tenuta bene, camere grandissime. Distributore di bevande nella hall. Colazione discreta
