Location is amazing. The hotel rooms are large. Our bathroom was fully remodeled with a giant tub and a separate shower and a separate toilet. Rooms had very squeaky floors and I mean like super loud. The plants inside the hotel needed a bit of a dusting. Other than that, I was very happy with my stay. Staff is very kind and helpful.

The hotel is excellent - my superior room was spacious and very comfortable.

Excellent location for the Schloßberg and main square but still fairly quiet. Breakfast was self service - perfectly fine but not spectacular. No restaurant for evening meal but there were several Austrian and Italian restaurants nearby. The internal atrium was very attractive and the room was lovely high ceilings. Not much furniture in the room though - could have made more of a feature. Seemed a bit sparse. Need to fix the broken (flashing) lights in the hallway but other than that a nice hotel in a good location.

The hotel is in a great location. But you cannot expect more than that. Two things are bothersome: 1. Other 4 stars hotels (i. e. Hotel Merkure) in the area provided their guests a. 4 bottles of water a day, esp. when it was so hot on these days; b.Breakfast was included; c. Price per night is lower;
2. The staff was in general very nice and helped me with printng of my paper. However, the breakfast lady had a horrible arrogant attitude: Breakfast is supposed until 11am; when I was there at 9am, certain things were already gone, but she refused to add, for example, smoked salmon, to the table; her response was rude (the breakfast was 21 Euro). Some people may not care for smoked salmon, but I do like it for breakfast (do it at home too). Additionally, bathroom is spcious, but it was designed horribly: water faucet cannot completely turned up to the right because there is a piece of glass on top of it keeping you from doing it. No shower curtain, only a small cover attached to the front of the bath tube. So shower water came out on the floor and bathroom door that you have to wipe them dry after each shower.

Old style and old hotel. That means, some of the rooms have wood parquet - that you can here it when walking... You have to love this kind of style which has a charm that new modern hotels don't have. Got room 117 - faces the alley - very quiet. (there are no cars allowed to drive here but only cabs/light rail and groceries). Did not have breakfast. Location is 11 of 10 !!! Big room. Separate toilet. Graz was more than I expected - book this room and find out...
Tip 1: go to the Schlossberg and enter the \"Graz Museum Schlossberg\" - new facility with nice demos and the best view of the city.
Tip 2: uber doesn't always work. use the standard taxi instead, more or less the same price.
> The little catch :didn't like the blackout curtains - they don't block the light, so if you are sensitive - on summer the sunrise is 5:00 and you might wake up...

There is misinformation about air conditioner in the hotel.
On site it says that rooms have AC.
But when we arrive to hotel and asked that it's little bit hot in room, we got answer that they are not switch on AC in winter. My visit was on Apr 25-27, temperatures were around 25 degrees.
In the desk we were suggested to open windows.
It helped a little with hot, but became noisy even at nights

Parking for this hotel is underground, beneath a shopping center. You have to park, take an elevator up to the department store, walk through the department store and then onto the street. The hotel is located next to the department store. Very inconvenient if you have luggage. While we had the largest suite at the hotel, it was still not luxurious and I would rate it as a moderate hotel. Breakfast was good, and the staff was courteous, friendly & helpful.

Beautiful hotel in a central position with very friendly staff. Unfortunately heating was set very high and there was no way to turn down the temp in the room. Had to leave windows fully open to let cool air in. Internet was heavily censored and many sites not available. TV did not have any English channels. German only. Ultimately even though staff were lovely, the extreme heat made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep, and that is the most important thing in a hotel.

I stayed three nights. My single room was fine. It was very hot without heat on so had to open window now and then. Breakfast is expensive (21€) and not great. Stale pastries. Overpriced. Location is the best thing about it. My bathtub drain did not work. The soap is positioned for a shower so you’re outta luck if you prefer a bath. One bath towel.

We booked through Expedia and got an upgrade to our room. We stayed in 304 which was a giant suite with a separate bedroom. To he bat. ,,was fully modernized. The breakfast was great and the staff was helpful and friendly. The location made it possible to walk everywhere.

Great place with classy character in the heart of old-town Graz. Great cocktail bar downstairs. The a/c is set to 22C, but was comfortable fleeting even on the top floor. (The temps were highs in 70s so not as brutal as late July-August can be.) Good service, would return.

Our room was missed for cleaning, the cleaner lied and said we had a sign on the door, then the cleaner told us they had other more important rooms to clean. We were refused towles and toilet paper. We asked the front desk about getting the room cleaned and they said no the cleaner had left. The staff were rude to us and unfriendly. The room was hot. The air conditioner leaked. The fridge didnt work.

This may be my favorite hotel I have stayed at in Europe. It is quiet, lovingly decorated, and it is right in the heart of town. Every attraction we wanted to see was within 15 minutes walking distance. Plenty of food and shopping only hundreds of feet away. The staff were super helpful and the bar was also a treat. If I ever come back to Graz, we will be staying here again.

The hotel is very nice in the center of the pedestrian area in Graz, within a short walking distance to everything. Parking is a bit complicated due to the traffic restrictions of the area but thankfully available.
We stayed in a suite as there were three of us and it had the charm of past opulence with even a piano in the sitting room. The bathroom was clean and fairly spacious Staff was friendly and helpful making reservations and such. Breakfast was nice.

Very hard to get to by car. There are no TV channels in any language other then German. Breakfast not included, expensive, yet with cheap offerings. Parking is in the area shopping mall, and you have to drive around several blocks to get there. And once I paid parking in hotel, the ticket to get out of garage did not work. I called hotel and was told I need to go parking office, while unable to even tell me office location. Once I objected, they called the garage and sent an attendant to help me out. Altogether, it took almost 0.5 hr. Just to get out. Thank God I did not have to catch a plane. This is a set-up where a availability of valet staff is a must, so a guest does not have to suffer through that. Altogether, not getting a good value for your dollar.

This Hotel building is a history by itself. it is located on the doorway of the Graz main square.The open space up to the roof, and the beautiful plants around this space are extraordinary. The room is nice, so do the bathroom. the only little mater is that the shower holder on the Jacuzzi

They never did manage to reconnect the hotel to receive English TV channels such as the BBC, CNN and France 24. The tech put a call into their service provider but no luck in getting any action. It was raining heavily so I was largely confined to my room so it would have been nice to have access to better TV programming.

Grand Stay in Graz

Wow, what a fabulous hotel! We loved our stay and this hotel is right in the heart of Graz. It was easy to get around on foot or by tram. There was a highly rated restaurant literally across the street. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was roomy and bright. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had in Europe - fresh berries, smoked fish, assorted juices and even champagne. The inside of the hotel was magnificent with an interior courtyard full of plants.

Talk about old world beauty. This hotel is old. Creaky gorgeous wood floors and old shutters. However it is modernized enough to provide a beautiful sheik setting right in the center of town. The view of the streets from our window was lovely. The gorgeous atrium made our fancy breakfast even better. We loved this hotel! I’d recommend it to anyone. The beds were so comfortable and our suite was extremely spacious.

this hotel in some ways was a mixed bag ... though saying that too reflects different cultural values ... and when in Rome, do as ... in time this might have been a high class 4 or 5 star hotel ... not now ... it was interesting, especially if one likes history, and the greenerie was amazing ... to the degree of that which was live versus fake (and plastic defeats any sustainability ideas) ... I liked my stay ... but objectively I think the hotel was 3 but not 4

The hotel is smack in the middle of the city which is perfect for exploring on foot. My only complaint is that parking is located in a shopping parking garage not terribly close to the hotel which was just slightly far when bringing bags in. But otherwise a good hotel in a great location!

Perfect location for city walking - the very city center. Tram stop for all directions in less than 100 meters.
Perfect condition for a comfortable stay: a bathtub with hot water starting immediately, a comfortable bed, fast WiFI, a teapot and a convenient system for heat adjustment. The personal was friendly and prompt.

The hotel is a beautiful historic building right next to the main square of Graz, so everything is on your doorstep. We had a drink in the hotel bar, and the cocktails are excellent.

There was a mix-up in my booking when I arrived and the reception claimed they did not have a room under me even when I showed them the confirmation email from hotels.com. When I showed that I had even paid the non-refundable fee, the staff seemed to be rather grudging and unhappy in looking for a room and no apology was even provided. Service could be improved in this area especially when a mistake was made on your end.

Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. Location was good.

Original place features such as heating stove in room as decoration was great to see but bathroom and bed were very old and needed updating. Floor level from stairs to corridor was uneven and a trip hazard. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice for continental breakfast and fruit juice. We SO enjoyed the location of this hotel! Right in the Old Town Center...and right next to the tram lines. Easy to manage around the city. Our only disappointment was that the breakfast wasn't included, as it was in all of our other bookings for this trip. (But, I may have just expected it would be included and didn't completely research that myself!)

The Erzherzog Johann Palais Hotel is perfectly located immediately tangent to the main town square with easy walking to nearly all tourist sites, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel brings a lengthy history yet offers all modern amenities to be found in a quality hotel. All staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.
