Close to many great places a a block from Insadong street a block from Anguk station two blocks from the palace. Everything was great however the room is a little bit outdated but clean. Staff was very friendly too

The staff was excellent and helped us plan some of our outings and transportation. The breakfast was excellent also and exceeded our expectations. Although we didn't use the kitchen much, we did use the coffee maker. We also appreciated the washer/dryer and the iron and ironing board.
We were traveling with 2 other couples and one thing that concerned all of us was the drop off area at the entrance. Several of us tripped on that area and one of the adults fell and hit her head on the wall. Perhaps, as Americans, we are not used to having an area to remove our shoes and we are aware of that, but some type of identification needs to added to that area to distinguish it from the floor. The floor and the drop off area are made of the exact same type of flooring and the different heights are not noticeable to many people.
Other than that, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend it to anyone visiting your fine city.

Amazing stay. Incredible value. We had a 2 BR which was fully equipped. So spacious we felt we could stay there-wished we could stay there for months. Breakfast was included in our package and was great. There is a small but very nice playroom for kids! And the fitness center looked clean and bright and had all kinda of machines though we didn’t use it.

Our room happened to have an absolutely incredible view. The location was perfect to see the places, walk two blocks (if that) to Insadong.

We will definitely stay here if we visit Seoul again!

The proximity to major landmarks was amazing and space and amenities in the hotel were great. The overall cleanliness could be improved, like the children’s play area downstairs was very dusty and in our hotel room, some areas were dusty and worn. But overall, it was a great space for our family with 2 young children to spread out and walk around everywhere.

We really enjoyed staying at the Somerset. The staff was very friendly, the location is great being right next to Insadong and all the nearby neighborhoods and restaurants. The room was very big considering the price which even had it's own washer/dryer. Our only complaint is that there didn't seem to be very many electrical outlet locations for charging our devices but other than that, this was a great hotel. We would definitely consider staying here again when in Gangbuk (North of the river).

Hotel in best location

Family of x4 perfect room as 2bedroom with kitchenette and x2 bathrooms. Quiet stay except if windows open hear protesters as embassies near. Also a Buddhist temple next to hotel with early morning drumming, gongs and chanting. Close the window at night.
The staff in all areas were polite and welcoming especially the breakfast area which the food was tasty and a great variety. Location was perfect for the palaces, Insadong and close to Subway for all over Seoul. Highly recommend this hotel.

They were so helpful and kind and accommodating. The location is great and parking is super convenient and easy. We stayed once and then stayed again for longer. Breakfast is free and delicious and not too much. A lot of people stay here and for good reason! Would 11/10 recommend again!

Loud noises at night time and early morning from 7AM. We stayed 3 nights; first night the fire alarm went off at 4AM (false alarm) for more than 15 minutes, second night there were thousands of protestors on streets nearby, singing and chanting, very loud until midnight. The Temple nearby is loud too. Just all kinds of noises.

It's convenient location to the Palaces and the breakfast is awesome.

I have stayed at this property as needed for the past DECADE. Admittedly, it was a very comfortable and nice stay 10 years ago, but now it is quite dated and in need of a touch up...
Firstly, our room was not properly cleaned. The toilet bowl was stained PINK = bacteria. It was not cleaned. Really disgusting.
Secondly, the towels are HORRIFIC. They REEK of old water/sweat/gym towel/dirty yoga mat. Luckily, we brought our own face towels, and that saved us from rubbing these gross towels on our faces at least...
Thirdly, the bedding was ripped in certain spots. Are sheets that costly that they cannot be replaced??? Same goes for towels. I mean, I know the whole hotel's worth of towels must add up. And who knows how old they are, but they definitely need replacing!
Next, the bathroom sink faucet/tap is a two-handle tap style (for those who dont know what this is - hot and cold water are controlled separately by two knobs) very uncomfortable to use.. and the hot water was SCALDING and the cold water FREEZING! so beware when letting your littles wash up on their own.
Upon getting to our room, we of course let concierge know and requested a cleaning of the bathroom. This took a while to complete the request. Inconvenient and annoying given we couldnt use the toilet until they came - much later.
Overall, we used to like staying here for the convenient location and familiarity and comfort, but unless they get a serious revamping of this whole property, we'll stay elsewhere.

This hotel was fantastic for our family trip to Seoul! The location is perfect - peaceful and residential, yet just steps from Gyeongbokgung Palace and a short walk to the shops of Insadong. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. The room, while a bit dated, was clean, spacious, and perfect for our needs. The breakfast buffet was a bonus.

We stayed for five nights on the 16th floor. Our apartment was spotless and had a good view of the mountains and Gyeongbokgung Palace. The room was nice in size with a very comfortable bed. The room was cleaned every day.
An added bonus we were not expecting was the wonderful breakfast included. You could go local or Western European. There was something for everyone. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Cannot recommend enough. When we asked how to say thank you and good morning the lady on duty wrote it all down for us and brought it to our table. Excellent stay

We picked the Somerset because we had 4 days before joining a cruise. Within a short distance of the Hotel there is history - Palaces, Religious buildings, Restaurants (both local and international cuisine) and a great shopping choice. The Hotel has well appointed rooms. But the stars were the staff who were attentive and helpfull particularly the staff on reception who made our visit special with their help with giving us directions, places to eat Korean food. So thanks for making our visit special.

Excellent hotel and strategic location

First and foremost Somerset Palace Seoul is travelers who need a full sized fridge for take out, leftovers, or who want to cook instead of eating out everyday. They clean your room six days a week and the front desk staff are attentive to guests. The rooms are clean and most of all why you should stay there is the accessibility to 3 train stations and excellent coffee shops and restaurants. I will stay there again on the next trip to Seoul.

This seems to be an older property, maybe a 1990's build? The interiors are showing the age. However, very comfortBle and clean. I loved my room overlooking the temple and Namsan tower. Somerset Palace is a comfortable hotel in an excellent location. The staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful. The room had a small kitchen which was great for light meals in the room. There is also a washer/dryer for cleaning laundry. The hotel is easy walking distance to Gyeonbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces, as well as Bukchon Hanok Village. The Jogyesa Temple is right behind the hotel and worth a quick visit. I recommend this hotel for anyone staying for a first time visit in Seoul.

Super happy with the stay- better than any 5 star hotels in Seoul. Spacious room, tucked in from the hustle and bustle of the town, beautiful view to the temple, no nonsense, no frills. Decent and elegant in style. I would definitely go back.

If the plastic bottled water and plastic packaged tiny amenities can be ditched with communal water dispensers and large multi-use containers, Somerset Palace would make it truly world-class in every sense!

Immaculate Hotel close to Palace.

My stay was from Friday to Sunday. The property was well kept and in prime location of all the historical sites and museums I wanted to see. On arrival I was greeted with warm welcomes. There was a little miscommunication in regards to having a ID number to track for COVID purposes but it worked out. The room was perfect. I had a great View of the Palace and it was within walking distance of all the sites I wanted to see. Over the stay was amazing. I wish I took advantage of the breakfast but unfortunately I woke up late bother days.

I really liked staying this place last several times but this time I disappointed. I called them and asked a room with open view because my mom has anxiety problems but there was a building in front of the windows. Plus the continental freak fast was disappointing compare with before.
