room sounded like a rainforest apparently due to uncommunicated arconditioning maintenance. was gaslighted twice by staff during the day and told it will go away and its the whole hotel and on the third attempt with a video finally told it was only some rooms and it was bad. then told at 9pm (while toddler was sleeping to pack up and move rooms!

This was an expensive hotel and we were underwhelmed by the service. Our room was not cleaned in a timely manner so we asked for it to be cleaned in the morning the next day, but they had not cleaned it be 3pm when we got back. The service in the bar was slow when we were seated outdoors. Disappointing. Also, the soundproofing between rooms was poor considering the recent refurbishment.

Wonderful hotel, great staff!!! It also has a great location and a shuttle to the VA waterfront. Rooms are nice and clean, but what makes this place is the staff! They are definitely top notch. Will stay here again perfect location right next to the convention center.

It’s standard room (Queen size). It was fluffy towels, the shower was excellent.
The downstairs Stella Dining and Bar was wonderful. Particularly enjoyed the salmon appetizer.
Unfortunately, the shampoo was missing.

We stayed there for a week in one room with 2 adults and 2 kids. Very comfortable room. We had breakfast included and the buffet was endless. Very classy feel throughout the hotel. Short walk to the harbourfront but they also offered hourly shuttles. Location was very convenient for all our tours and just walking around the town. We didn't use the pool - I can comment that it wasn't huge but it seemed adequate. I would definitely stay there again!

We stayed for four nights and had a wonderful experience. Our hotel room was warm, inviting and comfortable. The staff in the hotel and restaurant were all very kind, helpful and great with our kids. The complimentary shuttle to the V&A waterfront is a nice service. You can pick up the sightseeing bus from there, or across from the hotel. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable stay in a great location. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed at Southern Sun The Cullinan for 7 nights, 8 days, attending a conference. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Conference Center and is a short, safe walk over. It is also an easy walk to the V&A Waterfront from the hotel. I would take Uber to get to other neighborhoods.
The hotel was absolutely lovely. Newly refurbished with comfortable and clean rooms, a lovely bar with friendly staff, where we gathered every night, and a nice spa and beautiful pool.
Breakfast was excellent every morning. Ms. Angie at the egg station and Mr. Mike at the piano made every morning extra special.
I can't possible give enough compliments about the hotel staff. Every single staff member at the front desk and concierge was friendly, kind and so helpful. They helped connect us with a reliable driver at the last minute when we wanted to go out exploring the peninsula.
The only inconsistency I experienced was with housekeeping. My room was always cleaned on time and cleaned well, but every day, something was forgotten. One day face towels were not replenished, another day the water bottles were not replaced, etc. But it wasn't enough to affect my overall experience. I would just call downstairs and ask for what I needed.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Cape Town.

The staff at the Cullinan was excellent. From house cleaning, to the excellent chef, to the great bus drive..Kayah and Freddie were awesome and so many of the waiters had exactly what I wanted to drink each morning. Fabulous hotel! Staff are warm & welcoming as well as accommodating any requests.
Hotel overall is very good. Rooms do show a little tiredness in places however, a renovation is planned for this winter.
Hotel facilities are excellent. Well equipped gym & amazing spa. Well worth grabbing a massage there! Pool towels and SPF provided which is a nice touch.
Full range offered for breakfast, whatever your thing is! Self service with eggs cooked to order by the chefs.
Hotel bar & café offers great selection of meals as well as drinks.
Free shuttle to V&A waterfront but you can also easily walk there within 10 minutes.
Fabulous stay, can throughly recommend & will stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Southern Sun Cullinan. The room was very clean and each day we were provided with a snack or fruit. The dining was top notch and we particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet each day. The staff was friendly and helpful even during checkout day when the lobby was pretty chaotic. Will stay again if we’re in Cape Town in the future.

Beautiful hotel. We stayed here prior to and after a cruise. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport. They also shuttled us to the docks to board the ship. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet (included) and the food service outside by the pool. Delicious food in beautiful surroundings. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Great location to be close to the ocean and the docks. The staff were very polite and accommodating.

Stayed for 4 nights at beginning of a 2 week stay. The hotel itself is great. The rooms are spacious, if a little dated. Really nice breakfast around the pool. The Stella bar does fabulous food and drinks at very good prices. The staff are excellent. Lovely pool area. There's iced water and even complementary sun cream.
My issue is the location. It's in the financial district so there's nothing around. There's a complentary hourly bus to the waterfront which is very handy. The hop on hop off bus stops very nearby.
Although the hotel is less than 1km from the bars and restaurants of Bree Street, when we tried to walk, we were almost mugged by an organised gang less than 100m from the hotel. This was at 11.30 am when we attempted to go out for a post breakfast coffee. If leaving the hotel at all, you need to take an Uber.

Our stay was fabulous at this beautiful property. All the employees were so friendly and helpful. The meals at Stella were delicious. The sweet and spicy margaritas were wonderful. The wait staff were excellent. The property, rooms and lobby were extremely clean and well kept.
I enjoyed one of the best massages at the spa by Lolisa!
Special thanks to: John, Anthony the manager and Serina.
Also, Freddy the shuttle driver was so friendly and helpful.
You must select this hotel for your stay in Cape Town!

This hotel has a great location near the end of the main shopping street. It is also quite close to the harbour side shopping/eating area which is walkable but they also provide a complimentary shuttle bus. The staff we met were all very friendly welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and serviced daily.

Not a good experience. We both got food poisoning at the breakfast buffet. We were given a room with one bed despite booking two, then given a room on the first floor, then given a room that wasn’t fully cleaned. The stopper in the bathroom sink is of such a poor design that it kept closing with the dirty water backing up. The windows are very thin resulting in a lot of noise especially with the building across the street under construction. Pool closed multiple days for a private event. Housekeeping did not restock soaps several days. The hotel has a nice look but that’s about it.

Having travelled extensively world wide for both business and pleasure, this is the first hotel I've stayed at that took a deposit in advance ( in addition to the agreed room rate ) just n case you
dined in their restaurant or had a drink in the bar !! This then results in higher currency exchange rates. The deposit was returned on check out. The actual hotel was quite nice decoratively and a great location to the Waterfront
However we stayed at better B&Bs on this trip and it was the only establishment that didn't provide face flannels in their bathroom. A trivial point but it gives you a feeling of how we felt we were treated during our stay

Absolutely brilliant!!! Breakfast is wonderful and the lovely staff remembered that myself and my friend were dairy intolerant and would bring us out dairy free butter each morning.
So close to the waterfront and a safe walk. Would 100% stay here again!!!

The room was great and the staff. The check-in was professional and the check out. Cleanliness good, except they gave me one small soap which I finished and they never replaced the soap. Found the sweet potato and the potato chips in bar very oily. Lamb Shank in bar was major disappointment, Small, dry and burnt on the one side, with very dry and old rice. Extremely small portion with no other side. Was so happy Always On has been discontinued, but the existing wifi is equally annoying as it disconnects all the time. Also missed the smoked salmon at the breakfast buffet.

Overall a great value hotel with nice bar/pool/spa. Feels more like a business hotel given its location next to a conference center. They left a complementary bottle of wine in room on the first night which was a nice touch.

Would have rated it higher if not for their ridiculous 500mb free wifi limits which cuts you off after 5-10mins on a daily basis. Please review this asap.

Hotel is well located. It provides shuttle service to The Waterfront which takes only 5 mins. Facilities in the hotel are great. Breakfast is plentiful for a choice and very fresh and tasty. Light meals in the bar are also very fresh and delicious. Staff was very polite, attentive and friendly. One of my most favourite hotels in the southern hemisphere. Thank you for looking after us so well and wishing you all the best in the future.

Palatial, restful and friendly hotel.

Very welcoming and very helpful staff. We arranged several tours with a company the consiege recommended and the tours were brilliant. We had an issue with the toilet flush in the room when we arrived , reported it, and it was fixed within half an hour. Breakfast offered every type of food you could ever wish for. There were loads of staff continually clearing tables and serving hot drinks and they were always courteous and friendly. We enjoyed meals in the bar area after a long day on a tour which you could order up to 11pm. Location was ideal for Cape Towns famous waterfront either by foot or by the complimentary shuttle bus.
All in all a very palatial restful and lovely hotel, we would highly recommend a stay here.
