Location was great with easy walkability and access to subway and airport limo. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The front desk helped my older parents make plans, navigate transportation, and gave great recommendations in both Seoul and Busan. One suggestion: towel hooks! Just somewhere to hang a towel in the bathroom would be great. Other than that, the place was perfect for our needs.

We only stayed here 1 night to attend to business we had in Insa-dong. This location is very convenient to walk to many areas around Insadong and Myeongdong. The breakfast was simple, but really good and appreciated. The beds were very comfortable. It was really good for one night for our family, and would be fine for a couple for multiple nights, but the room was too small for us to have stayed for a week. If it was just my husband and I it would work. This is a great place for couples on a budget though! Very good value for what you get!

Great choices of breakfast. Room is clean. Good location in a bustling area yet nestled inside a quiet lane off the busy street. It is close to Ikseo-dong and Insadong, and not far away from Myeondong and the Palace. Subway and buses are close too. It is in Jongno 3 ga area. Very convenient. The only strange thing is that the shower area is not walled/partitioned off from the toilet. So the whole bathroom floor gets wet after the shower. Also the room is a bit small.

SimpleStay Hotel really has allowed me to make the very most of the short time I've had in Seoul, and I can only thank the staff and owners so much for making the place comfortable, relaxing, and feeling like home. The booking process and checking in was simple, the rates are incredibly reasonable, and the room was more than I could have ever expected - so good, at times I had to make myself get up and explore the Jongno community the hotel is well positioned within. My room had the biggest television I've ever watched, with streaming service enabled; a mini-fridge; very comfortable beds (travelling solo, I had a double bed and an extra single bed in my room). The shower area, wash room, and toilet are all separate spaces.

Self-check in is simple, but there are staff on the front desk to help you. The staff are able to provide insights into the restaurants and street food in the area around the hotel, while there is also a complementary breakfast provided, and a coffee machine in the reception by the front desk. In your room, there is also a kettle, coffee and tea, free Wi-Fi, and an art deco style modern phone that looks like the old dial type - loved it!

There are laundry facilities available (2 washing machines and one dryer), which are simple to use, and very affordable. If it looks like you're struggling to use them (I was initially), a staff member was soon up there to help me. After that, no problems at all.

Unfortunately when I booked this hotel, I didn't know it was actually a Motel. Room is big, but no place to store clothes and/or luggage. Just like a motel, you can hear everything. But the location is great. Very very close to everything. Breakfast is very basic, what you'd expect for a motel facility.

Hotel has amazing location, you can walk anywhere! You are also surrounded by all the shopping, street vendors and restaurants.
Room is okay, it had a small window but couldn't have it open as other rooms were looking in it and no curtain.
Shower/tub was weird, it is not actual standing shower.
I paid for breakfast but ended up not even trying it because it starts late (I think 8:30 or 9:30 I forgot) and I day I had early tour and asked if they could prep some box for me earlier or night before - they said no.
But in the lobby there is coffee machine, water bottles and infused water which is cool and it is open and available all the time.

I'm going to be 100% honest. The location is amazing. It's close to everything. The place is small and noisy(I stayed on the first floor). Wifi didn't work. It's more like a motel than a hotel. I had a terible sleep and deeply regret staying here... thankly I only stayed here for 1 night. You might as well stay in a hotel for 1/3 of the price if saving money is a priority.

A basic place to stay. A small mirrored window meant there was no view. Hotel backs on to an alley that is noisy until around 1am due to local restaurants, so if you like an open window it might be difficult to sleep well. A/C is good. Breakfast is laid on and looked nice but I didn’t try it. Friendly staff. Right around the corner from Jongno 3-ga metro station.

My reason for picking this hotel was its central location in Seoul as well as what another reviewer said about being able to store luggage for a few hours after checkout. I don't think the complimentary breakfast was listed in the amenities, but it should be!

Can't say we loved the whole bathroom being a shower room or the tiny sink with no counter space for toiletries, but what was there was clean.

Chris, the owner was incredible - when I arrived, I needed an ATM and she escorted me to the nearest one as well as a recommended restaurant and introduced me toe the owner. On another occasion, I saw her escort another customer to the nearest pharmacy. This is service above and beyond and I felt extremely welcomed.

The hotel was a very good value especially considering the location amenities & breakfast. The room was typically small for the price but again, expected and very good value. The bed was very comfortable, the room had AC & Heat as well as a HEATED FLOOR which was appreciated as my stay was in winter. The laundry room on the roof was very convenient. The roof also has a sitting area which would be nice to use during warmer seasons.

Greatly appreciated were the 2 charging docs; an extension cord; mini-refrigerator; complimentary water as well as free coffee in the lobby.

The shower had good HOT water and had both a RAINFALL plus handheld showers.

The neighborhood is a food mecca, filled with restaurants near buses, subways & the Airport shuttle bus as well as shops.

I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again

As the name suggests, this hotel offers a simple stay. Do not expect too many amenities or a great view; get out of the hotel for those! But good value and a good stay with friendly and helpful staff.

The breakfast was very minimal in its variety and the seating area for breakfast is very limited, so I would personally recommend exploring breakfast options elsewhere. Bakeries and cafés within ~10 minures walking distance would be a better option.

We stayed at this property for 6 nights in June - we chose a double premium room which despite being small was very compact and I was particularly impressed at the use of space in the room especially the tiny bathroom. Room was cleaned on request and an inclusive breakfast each day was a big benefit. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful and we paid extra in last day to keep our room for a few more hours before airport. Location is very convenient to subway and walkable to restaurants and convenience stores & high street shopping.
Would return but would choose a bigger room.

After our 3rd time at SimpleStay Hotel we feel compelled to write this review and recommend it to others. It is a very simple place to stay in a vibrant location at a very reasonable price. What makes it so exceptionable is the true kindness and generosity of the staff and owners. Truly a special kind of loving service throughout our two week stays. It also provides a simple breakfast buffet with exceptional coffee, that I love. Certainly not a luxurious hotel, it provides us with the perfect home base as we explore the beauty and culture of Seoul.

Where to begin? The only way I could see people rating this place as a five star is if they wanted to take the bribe for rating it as such. (Yeah, they give you a box of cookies if you'll rate them a 5 star). Now the hotel's nice enough, especially for a budget hotel.It's really quite good. The breakfast is okay (it's free). I don't think they thought out the bathroom situation terribly well, regarding the shower water going everywhere. The staff were excellent and very helpful.

The biggest knock on this hotel is that you really don't want to show up after 10pm down the dark alley in which it is located lined with drunken bums in the streets all around you. It is scary. I would have to say, the scariest place i've ever stayed location wise. But during the daytime, the sketchy types are gone, and it's much quieter. We stayed for 4 days. So you get used to it, and you just make sure you're safe.

I could have maybe viewed the pictures a little closely but the rooms are tiny and it’s a wet bathroom. The sink is right next to the bed which also doesn’t really make sense.
Anyway, we left after one night and booked other accommodation. Let the staff know, and although they were friendly, they did not provide any sort of refund.

Some parts of the bathroom were in poor condition and I’d definitely wear shower shoes!

Otherwise, great stay. There’s even a chill area at the front where you can bring back food to eat if you want to escape the chaos of the nightlife.

Very close to shopping, train, food, etc. The 24/7 Ramen shop is a must try because it’s so niche.

Also recommend you take the airport shuttle rather than the train when you’re trying to catch your flight. It’s slightly more (17,000 KRW) but it’s far more convenient than dragging all your stuff through the various subways. The bus stop is kind of a walk though. I wouldn’t recommend for people barely ambulatory.

There’s no direct train to and from the airport. It also takes about an hour or so to get to the hotel if you take a train to the hotel from Incheon.

I just have some concerns about the cleanliness. It smells the toilet in the room, even though we leave the window open all day but we still smell it when go back in the evening. You know it is not convenient to sleep while smelling this.

The hotel was very clean and in good condition, which is the main thing. However it is worth noting that the bathroom was quite impractical, with the shower and toilet in the same cubicle, where the shower was practically sitting directly above the toilet. This meant that after using the shower the toilet was covered in water as was the floor surrounding it. It was manageable for two nights, but not particularly ideal.
