Good staff but the room needs a proper renovation not only patching: a hole on the bathtub wall was filled with caulking! Patio door frame was not screw properly to the wall, hence the patio door didn’t close. A relatively low issue since we were at a gated hotel.

Too many rules do just an ok Hotel it’s a very old hotel smells very old and the washrooms are old and nasty, bugs in the bathtub when we arrived. I know Antigua is an old town but I had family members that travelled with us and stayed at other properties and they were old as well but modern amenities. No washrooms exhaust fan so if you poop the whole villa stinks, our cleaning lady was on top of her game she was the only person that made us feel good big kudos for her. But the lady that covered her day off left us red stain sheets nasty very nasty, if you use the pool make sure you take the card they give you showing how many people are in the room, because if you don’t you won’t get a towel and the towels are old and they are falling apart. Oh make sure you bring it back because if you don’t they won’t give you the card back. If you go to eat outside of the hotel you can’t bring any food back no exceptions the security guards are all over your bags. Front desk they are not very helpful overall I would never stay at this place ever again.

The amenities were not very clean and the noise was so loud at night from the pool we could not sleep – like all throughout the night. We felt grateful to only be here one night of our trip but would not stay again. Additionally, we called for early check in, arrived and were told to wait another hour. We checked back in and they told us we had to wait another two hours since a shower had broken so that was not ideal.

The Spa & Service We were looking forward to using the spa, but it was impossible to book. We went to check three separate times during our stay, and there was never anyone working there. It felt like a ghost town.
Payment & Unexpected Policies The payment process was another major headache. I tried to pay in cash, but the staff insisted that US dollar bills be \"perfect\"—absolutely new with no marks, spots, or tiny tears. This is an incredibly frustrating and \"crazy\" requirement for a traveler to meet.
Dining Issues To top it off, we had lunch at the on-site restaurant. We were promised a 20% discount, but when the bill arrived, they refused to honor it.

Hotel Soleil La Antigua is a resort with a lot of potential, located in a beautiful setting with convenient access to Antigua's main attractions. While the hotel offers stunning views and a charming, dated aesthetic, my recent stay highlighted some significant maintenance and service issues.
Upon arrival, we were moved from our first room due to a non-working A/C. The hotel staff was quick to accommodate us, which we appreciated, but the new room presented its own set of challenges. The bathroom tub leaked almost constantly, creating puddles on the floor, and a roof leak required us to strategically place garbage cans to protect our belongings. While these were major inconveniences, we were able to manage around them.
The bright spots of the trip were a wonderful surprise for my birthday. The hotel provided a thoughtful slice of birthday cake and a customized card. I also took advantage of the birthday discounts at the on-site spa, receiving 50% off a Lomi Lomi massage, while my friend got 25% off. This was a fantastic perk. However, the spa experience itself was problematic. During my first massage, the A/C unit leaked, spilling water onto the floor and disrupting the peaceful environment. When I returned for a second massage, I was placed in the same room. This time, the A/C was completely off, and the heat triggered an asthma attack. Charging for these items made it felt cheap as if we were nickeled and dimed for everything.

This hotel is perfect. My family and I had an issue with a different reservation which I had to immediately cancel. We found this hotel and the front desk employees were professional and amazing. The rooms were great. The hotel has their own restaurants and bar. All employees that we interacted with were very polite and professional. Also, there is a shopping center about 3 minutes from the hotel and it also has a supermarket. Highly recommend.

The place is great, the landscape is gorgeous, the rooms are comfy and I like the fact that they have a wood burning chimney. What will have me thinking twice on coming back is that they will nickel and dime you for just about everything. They don't allow you to bring food or drinks from outside, understandable. We went to enjoy the outdoor pool, but the bar didn't have any staff, towels are hard to get, because the stages off.

My experience at hotel soleil wasn’t pleasant. I’m not the one to leave negative reviews but this time I thought I share my experience. Sauna area was not clean and had a funky smell. The jacuzzi looked old and outdated, didn’t enjoy it at all. I had ordered food from the pool side restaurant but wasn’t satisfied with the food quality. So I have decided to order food from a local restaurant but when I went to pick it up at the lobby I was held by security who told me food from outside wasn’t allowed in property. Then I was confronted by the manager, I literally felt like a little kid being scolded it was terrible! I couldn’t wait to check out. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Hotel Soleil was a first of a kind for me. They were very kind to upgrade us to a suite. The room was absolutely beautifu but the sink smelt like sewage when the water was running. On top of that the bed was like a rock, for such a beautiful suite such a disappointment the bed was so hard. Lastly, we went for a dinner out in Antigua and had some left over food. They wouldn’t let us bring it on the property which was the first time I ever experienced this. Found that to be absolutely ridiculous. Such a weird place, such a nice resort with many flaws!!!
