Review of Hotel Les Cigales

This hotel is a good choice for a short term stay (no longer than a week). The good benefits we had is that this hotel had car parking availability which is very hard to find in this area. As well as the location was ideal, not far from most attractions and shops. The receptionist was very nice at our check in and check out, guided us with what to do in the city and so on. Overall the stay was great for 1 night just to sleep.

Unfortunately, it seemed that I was intently put into not a very good room at first, despite paying for a superior double room. I do appreciate that the room is photographed is listed as a superior room on this website. However, in comparison to the room that I was moved into after I complained, the difference was very striking. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to women who are travelling solo as clearly they tried to take advantage of that, as they may have been under the impression that I wouldn't have said anything otherwise. Never in my life have I stayed in a hotel room where I was expected to use the the shower by hand, not even in hostels have I ever encountered this. Also the fact that I had a superior room that faced the smoking area, And also the windows opened up to the buildings across and people were able to look into my room. I did not feel safe in my original room. Again, I appreciate that. I was moved into another one but that shouldn't have been the case in the first place.

I had to extend my stay in Nice and my hotel was booked solid, so I decided to book this hotel just for the extra 2 nights. Absolutely disgusting and worst hotel experience I have ever had!!! Room had mosquitoes and bugs crawling everywhere. Carpet was disgusting. Couldn’t sleep all night because I could hear the guy next door coughing all night. Please avoid!

Great, little hotel. Short walk to the train station and an easy five minute stroll to the promenade. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Numerous cafes, bars and bakeries in the neighbourhood. Road was a bit noisy but was quick to quiet down later in the evening. We would stay again.

The room was clean and comfortable. The \"city view\" was actually a street view. This meant that we couldn't open windows or look outside because we were right on the street in a city. They should differentiate such views. One floor up was the room I expected. A room looking outside on a nice part of Nice. Instead we had cars, people right outside etc... Also having to pay to leave bags after checking out was bizarre and petty. The staff were helpful. The location was central.

We loved our stay at Les Cigales! The front desk was incredibly helpful with outlining the city's walking points at check in and with scheduling early morning taxis for check out. We needed a three person room, and it was perfectly situated for all three of us. Heads up that laundry access is nearby, but not in the actual hotel. A lovely, comfortable hotel that we will return to if we are fortunate enough to return to Nice.

The people here are amazing in their ability and offers to be of assistance and with great patience across multiple languages. Any question we had from tourism to french phrases was welcomed with a smile and a great deal of care to ensure that we understood. The location of the hotel was ideal for restaurants, sites, and just about 5-6 minute walk to the sea!

If given a ground floor room, ask for a change

My review is for room 4 which happens to be on the ground floor, by the lift and with thin wall in front of reception.
I’m pretty sure that if you’re not as unlucky as I was with the room you get this hotel can be great.
Location is great and so is the condition of the rooms, although they’re rather small.
But in my case my stay was ruined by guests until very late in and out speaking loudly and shouting, gatherings around the lift with guests laughing out loud and talking like if they were in a night club, guests checking in talking like the receptionist was deaf… All this was never stopped by the receptionist telling them to lower their voice, and it could be easily changed by having some posts on the wall saying “mind your voice, respect other guests sleep” around the ground floor and by the lift.
The receptionist could also take off the sound of their phone so guests on the ground floor don’t have to hear a ding ding every other minute.

My friend and I had a long weekend in Nice and wanted somewhere fairly central that wasn't too expensive. Cigales is in a great location, less than 10 mind to the beach and train station and some nice little cafes close by for breakfast. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was small but quite modern and clean. My only downside is the air-conditioning was a little loud and the maid service in the morning seemed a bit noisy, but I'm quite a light sleeper.

Overall it was a great hotel and I would definitely stay there again if I was ever back in Nice!

This hotel was awesome! The lady at the front desk was very helpful gave me a map of the area with the different shopping districts, food area and of course the beach. She even showed me where everything was in my room. The location is great as well lots of restaurants and markets near the hotel and within 5 mins walking to the beach.

This small hotel is a 5-10 min walk to the beach and all the shops and restaurants. The room was confortable and i appreciated the existence of an elevator. Breakfast waa good. The only issue is that checkin is very late, at 3, and thus very inconvenient for those traveling through the night and arriving in Nice early in the morning. I would move checkout at 11am and checkin at 12 or 13 at the latest. They also need more personnel. There seemed to be only one cleaning girl for 12 rooms.

One night stand

We looked for a place for the night as we had to catch an early flight the next morning. Very friendly staff clean room. The room was a little small but worked out fine. They also provided me with secured parking that worked out very well. Overall very good experience.

Spacious room, friendly and helpful staff. We were provided a map and directions to the beach and other sites to see when we arrived. Veronica escorted us to our room and made sure we had everything we needed. Comfortable and quiet stay in a convenient area. Close to the train and bus lines. Walking distance to beach and shopping.

Delightful Nice hotel - great value!

The hotel was an amazing value for the money. Staff was warm and welcoming. Had a family feel. My room was recently remodeled and they did an amazing job. I traveled alone, so it was perfect. The bed was wonderful. The shower was small, but I am a big guy and I had no problem. And it is seven blocks down from the train station on one side. And on the other you are two blocks from a lovely neighborhood of outdoor restaurants and cafes.

Very enjoyable stay

The hotel was comfortable and clean. It was centrally located within walking distance of the beach, the old town, shops, restaurants and many of the sights. The receptionists, Eliane on our first day and Veronique on our second, were both very pleasant and extremely helpful recommending good restaurants, booking a taxi etc.

Good 3* hotel

Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the main train station, 10 minutes walk to the beach and they have beach equipment you can borrow. There are several nice restaurants within 5 minutes walk and there is a great little supermarket directly opposite the hotel. The staff were all multi-lingual and very helpful with any request. The air-con is quiet and at night there was no noise from other residences or from the street. WiFi was very easy to connect, with no need to enter any personal details, and there is a nice patio area out the back with comfortable seating. The bathroom had a bath with a shower attachment and this was the only issue we had with the room; there was no wall mount for the shower so you had to hold the shower nozzle all the time. Would most definitely stay here again.

Great boutique hotel in Nice!

Three girls stayed in their triple room and it was very comfy and especially clean. Looks like it was just completely renovated. Front fest was knowledgeable and have us best Italian restaurant suggestion! Villa de este! Ya got go eat there and stay at this lovely hotel!!

Extremely Disappointed

The ventilation system was emitting an annoying tone. Other guests were complaining as I arrived. Noise cancelling earphone and earplugs failed to alleviate the situation. And to work on the problem a workman was in and out of our room as well as other staff. That resulted in a significant amount of cash being stolen. The supervisor never acknowledged this and seemed to dismiss my concern. A miserable four day spent there. I have to be honest.

Good stay in Hotel les Cigales

The location is very good - less than 10 minutes walking to the seaside; small supermarkets, pastry shop, Chinese/Japanese/Italian restaurants nearby; 4 minutes walking to Bus 70 stop, 7 minutes walking to Bus 52 stop (both buses to the airport).

The staff are friendly and helpful. The room is clean and spacious; the shower is pretty good.

Something to be improved - the breakfast at 11 euros is a bit expensive; the soundproof is not as good as expected, but the located area is quite anyway.

Ich hatte ein gemütliches Einzelzimmer im Erdgeschoss und konnte gut schlafen. Für einen Städtetrip nach Nizza. Kann ich es empfehlen. Von der Tram ist es in 7 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Das ist auch sehr praktisch um schnell zum Flughafen zu kommen.

Hotel is good, the reception was very kind, the room was fine. They did take care of my special request for a crib and bathtub which was very much appreciated.
The mattress is quite soft (not my liking).
But the negative side to my reservation was the noise until midnight in the hotel and on the streets. Otherwise out stay was great. Thank you

Good cost benefit

The hotel is well-located, three blocks from the Promenade Anglais, a 10-minute walk from the train station, and several restaurants are nearby. The hotel has a good value café, and the reception staff is very friendly. Areas for improvement include: the bathroom is a bit dark, and the bedroom floor is stained, making it look dirty. The pillows are thin.
