I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The room was large with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was very good every morning. The location was good. It was only a six minute walk from the L2 Tram from the airport. It was also about an eight minute walk to the promenade de Anglais. Niece is beautiful with a lot of elegant buildings. If I come again, I would be quite happy staying at hotel Villa Victor Hugo.

On the night of my arrival on a freezing night in January the hotel did not have heat in the building!
After flying for over 15 hours I had the most unpleasant freezing night I ever had in my life! They were unable to fix the heat until next day because “it was national holiday “ or offer a portable heater.
I had send multiple emails to management asking for a refund for that night but was mostly ignored and told by someone that they gave me a 15e free breakfast as apology ☹️

Not as good as we'd been led to expect. It was disheartening to turn up and find hoarding around the hotel door and scaffolding covering most of the front (including 2 of our rooms). In other circumstances I've been warned before arrival. No heating in two of the rooms for 3 out of 4 nights was bad and no compensation offered.

First I want to express how amazing all of the staff was. They were friendly, extremely accommodating and helpful with all of our questions. Especially Raluca. I didn’t get the names of all of the staff, but there was one young woman who went us her travel card because we were only going to do one trip.
The interior of this hotel is beautiful. It is well cared for and was kept very clean. We were very comfortable in our room.
My complaint with this hotel is that when we booked the reservations, we were not informed that there was major outside renovation going on. When we arrived, our balcony was completely obstructed by construction materials. The staff was amazing. They allowed me to look at many rooms until I finally found the one room that had an unobstructed balcony.
It is my impression that if construction is being done on a hotel during booking there usually is a message indicating that. Or a message from the hotel will come in through my Expedia account email. This was not done. I hope Expedia expresses to hotel owners and management that this is something that should be indicated.
We will make this our first choice when we return to Nice. We will just be sure to communicate ahead of time to make sure there everything is as should be.
Again, I cannot express how amazing the staff is here. Also, the location is perfect. It is walking distance to all of the main areas and the beach, but removed enough that you feel like you’re in a little bit of a neighborhood.

Location is good. Two big issues: Rooms are way too cold and Wifi Service in the Rooms is terrible. Wifi in the room is practically non-existent which is a HUGE inconvenience for foreign travelers. I had to go down to the lobby for working Wifi. Very inconvenient. I visited end of November and the rooms will not get heat. I was way too cold. 22 degrees celcius was the highest for room temperature and honestly it felt colder than that in the room. A standard minimum for a hotel is to provide proper heat in the rooms, and working Wifi.

Hotel looked good and should have been lovely but the exterior of the building is being renovated and is mostly covered in scaffolding and tarpaulin.
Our first room had no view of the outside, the balcony was fully covered with plastic sheeting. We were moved to a room with a marginally better view but in the day light it was again not good and we were woken up at 8am by builders banging right outside our window. We couldn’t open the curtains as they were on our balcony!
We complained and after much wasted time were downgraded to an inferior room. We had to argue to get the difference in room rate refunded and then they would only do that for the 2 following nights, not the disturbed night. Receptionists very helpful, management lacking any customer service.
The owners are refusing to mention the works online and are mis selling the hotel currently vs the pictures that are shown. Avoid until works are completed!

We made a two day reservation on the day we arrived in Nice. The VRBO we originally reserved was a 4 flight climb with luggage. I had strained my back that morning at the train station, so we had to make new plans. Hotel La Nice was perfect for us. Small, clean, and friendly in a charming location near the promenade and reasonably priced. The elevator, standing shower, and small balcony overlooking the street with double doors I could leave open, all helped me recuperate quickly. After recovering, local restaurants and a stroll along the nearby promenade gave us a brief but enjoyable taste of Nice. We highly recommend it.

Nice smaller boutique style hotel. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. I got a larger room and it was bigger than expected with a larger bathroom and clean. The only thing is the hotel was being remodeled and there was a construction platform and plastic right outside of my window and others blocking most of the window. The bathroom has a small balcony and I couldn’t go outside as it was blocked by the platforms, which was disappointing. But other than that I like this hotel and the beautiful architecture of the building. Breakfast was very good too and it’s within walking distance to the train station and main areas.

The room is tiny, but well-organized. The only negative I have is the lighting. The bathroom lighting is super dim and there isn’t anywhere else to put on makeup etc.. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This property would have been 5 stars if only cleanliness and staff had been considered. However they mention having a bar area…yet there was never a bartender. Also scaffolding covered the front and all of a sudden one day, it blocked our view of the street and banged all day. I realize maintenance needs to be done sometimes but it detracted from the experience. The breakfast was adequate and the staff was friendly however. Also the check in process was efficient. The room was spotlessly clean. Just a few small issues corrected would have made this a 5 star property.

Very centrally located for easy walking access to nice restaurants and shops. Also right on a tramline so can take that to and from the airport. Rooms are smallish but clean and tastefully done. Also appreciated that the hotel is doing its part to be environmentally friendly.

I liked this well-situated, safe, and quiet hotel very much. Breakfast was very good. My room and the property were fresh and clean. However, I found the basic toiletries on offer lacking (only shower soap/shampoo/hand soap), and my room's furnishings were austere (no comfortable chair). Also, I would have liked a full set of towels, including a washcloth and perhaps a spare set while one set was drying.

I spent a week here in July 2025. The people were very friendly, the room was comfortable, and the location is so nice, so walkable. We didn’t do the breakfast, but it looked really good. I would definitely choose to return someday.

I had a short stay in Nice and this was perfect for a quiet night's sleep w/ AC in the heat of summer. The staff was friendly and helpful when I arrived late in the evening. I initially found street parking but realized I got lucky when I needed to look for parking on day 2 - I recommend Grimaldi garage which is a short walk from the hotel. Everything is 5-10 walk - including the ocean. And though it's on the lower level - the breakfast was really perfect. This hotel may not have all the bells an whistles for a luxury stay - but if you are just looking for great service, clean, convenient and nice breakfast - all for a great price in the high season, I highly recommend. I really value my sleep - and often find even high end places to be noisy. I didn't hear anything at all and slept like a rock.

Good property located to a lot of food. You can walk everywhere and there’s a mall near by. If you forget anything from your travel then hit the mall up for all your needs. People are generally friendly and will help you. The beach is super close as well. Max 15 min walk

This place is just way more dismal than the photos suggest...thankfully we only stayed one night. The room was small and sad, with a very noisy in the wall A/C unit that kept going off and on all night. The only plus was a clean and efficient bathroom, but that wasn't enough. Overpriced for what you get. Not recommended.

Opportunity for improvement would be better STORAGE, larger wardrobe (that could hang dresses, coats, etc.) larger bedside tables with drawers, more towels, slip proof mats for showers (I actually fell in the shower), table for coffee was far too low.
