Nice little hotel on the beach in the somewhat off-the-beaten-track town of Los Barriles. Romm was clean, staff was friendly and breakfast in the restaurant (a la carte) was good. Several nice little restaurants nearby and pickleball courts attached to the hotel and very close by as well. Beautiful beach, good for swimming and lots of watersports.

Pics are deceiving. It was like staying at a cheap motel. Our room was very dated. Sagging curtains, old bed covers and a couch that I would not sit on as it was so filthy. Bathroom desperately needed a Reno. There was no TV, no phone, no coffee, not even a glass for water. The wifi was terrible. There were no chairs to use on the beach. The pool loungers were filthy and the pool itself was freezing and dirty looking. It was advertised as breakfast included, but after we paid we were told it wasn’t. We left after one night.

Los Barriles Beach a paradise

The place has a beautiful beach but the rooms are like a inexpensive motel in USA, no TV, only water. But the price is because of the location the best beach you can find.

While the location was nice in a remote fishing village, it was not what i expected. The sea was to chopy to snorkle. The hotel restaurant has a nice view but it was very difficult to eat with all the flies and mos. The room was small, towels smelly, pool green with algae, the wifi and power went out four times so I could not do any work. Also the American crowd was on the rough side. I will definitely not return.

Ocean views galore

Check in was quick and easy. The hotel is in the heart of Los Barriles and on the beach. They have a large pool. I would definitely get a pool/ocean view room. It is worth the extra $$$. The bed was a little soft for my liking. They have a cafe/coffee shop which has food and is open earlier in the day. They have a full bar/restaurant in the evenings as well as a little palapa bar right above the beach with a great view. We saw whales breaching and playing and rays jumping, all right out in front of the hotel. The staff were all super friendly, especially Leo. A couple of things to note. Our room did not have a microwave or coffee maker. Also the water pressure is a little light and the sink drained slow. But these are small things compared to all the great things about Playa Del Sol. We will most definitely stay here again. It is 2 blocks from the main streets and there are a ton of restaurants, bars, taco stands and grocery options within a few blocks.

Really cool place. The property was gorgeous.. right on the beach! We saw staff constantly cleaning or tidying up. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The Hotel is right on the beach and more than enough space for guests to spread out. We loved the chairs and table right outside our sliding glass door. That was nice for those beautiful sunrises/sunsets. The restaurant upstairs was delicious, some of the best food in town. The restaurant staff was also very nice, particularly the young man who was our server multiple nights. We enjoyed coffee in the morning from the cafe downstairs. My husband fly fished from the beach every morning/evening and it was “some of the craziest fishing he’s ever done”
The location is perfect, right on the beach but close enough to town that we walked there everyday and didn’t feel the need to get a rental vehicle. My husband is already planning another trip back! We will most definitely recommend Playa Del Sol to anyone. Thank you for such an amazing and memorable Birthday!

Property is conveniently located in central Los Barilles. Beautiful setting well manicured lawns and trees surrounding the entire property. Outdoor pool patio area is excellent for laying out and just enjoying the sea of Cortes view. Restaurant upstairs was excellent. Staff was out of their way friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again. Pricing was decent as well.

There were a few small issues with the room, but we were only there 3 nights so didn’t let it bother us. A little expensive, but the location with beach access helps offset the cost. Friendly staff. Everytime we book, the booking sites all say 1 room or 2 rooms left, but when we arrive it seems like most of the rooms are empty!!!! Don’t know why. That was the case last year also… overall decent and would go back.

Best family vacation place!

Had a terrific family vacation. Very accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant and we were comfortable. Even changed out our mattress on the bed for us when the bed was too hard. Staff so friendly, food was good at a decent price and we love the bar ❤️ we will definitely be returning.

The A/C sounded like it was going to fall off the wall all night. The bathroom towels were old, stained at ratty like cleaning rags.
The employees were beautiful, pleasant , sweet & hard-working people. Food was very mediocre and expensive. The rooms needed some eating utensils and a microwave. A clock in the room would have been very nice. The view on the beach was excellent . They should give guests #1 dibs on the pickleball courts. NOT the locals hogging all the courts in the cool mornings. Just wrong and frustrating not to be able to play pickleball as advertised for the price paid to stay at the hotel!!!!

After our first day the pool was drained and then under repair. We were not advised. Was one of the reasons we picked that hotel. Lounge chairs were also put away. Lights going into resort from town were off at night, was a bit dark if Venturing out. But food was good, staff friendly and resort kept clean.

The hotel was kind of cute and great location. The beds were not at all comfortable, they were hard and had tissue paper thin sheets on them and no mattress pads. The bathroom had a horrible layout. Defiantly not worth $200 per night.

The location is excellent for water sports, which is why I chose it. The location is close enough to the center for town where you more dining choices. Incidents of crime seem non existent, or very low at least. The rooms are a little small, but kept in somewhat decent condition, only problems were a couple of light bulbs were burned out & the hot water tap was leaking.
The walls or doors are not very soundproof, so when there were people partying at the bar upstairs, or the music was blasting, or the local, early morning pickle ballers were passing thru, it was a little noisy. I wanted to rent a bike for a few days, but costs were the same as the local bike rental shop in town, but the bikes were in much worse condition. Guests at the hotel should be able to get a reduced rate to increase the chance that they will rent there instead of in town. I didn't see any bikes get rented from there the whole time & they weren't offering me any discounts. We did get a discount on Pickleball by staying there, but they made it confusing or difficult to play with the regulars or locals from town... only allowed to play on our own later on in the day when it was hot & windy. Locals seem to come from all over, which adds to the noise & foot traffic thru the resort & many times, filled the parking lot with their vehicles.
Room prices are a little high; more than we usually spend on all inclusive, which will affect our decision to go back there in the future.

I'll be back

Amazing staff, gorgeous location, safe, great food, clean & cozy. Charging food and drink to the room was super convenient. The only minor negatives to this wonderful place was the beds were not very comfortable and the process for using the hotel pickle ball courts was a bit clunky. We found out when we got there that the courts are \"reserved\" until 10AM most days unless you get on the \"list\".

My friends and I head to Playa del Sol because they have four pickleball courts on the property. We understand that Tony, who runs the pickleball program in the morning, collects around $6 from anyone that wants to play. This year, the hotel started charging an additional $3 for those that want to play in the afternoon. We will be looking at different lodging, if they continue to charge for courts that are part of the hotel.

Love staying here. Great location and option for Los Barrilles. Note, the pool is not heated in the winter months, and the wind can be quite strong until mid March.

Thomas and Brenda at the office are greT and will arrange for a ride into town for dinner or drinks, or to the ATM at the grocery store which has the lowest fees to obtain pesos or dollars.

Restaurant help is great. Good breakfast and lunch, and you can eat at your room or poolside. Very nice bar overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Decent WiFi at the restaurant.

This was my 2nd stay here, and I'll definitely be back.

No information given at check-in, just the room card. I then assumed that there would be some basic info in the room like Wi-Fi password or how to set the safe code but there was nothing. No phone in room either so each time we had a question we had to walk to reception area which was frequently closed . Most of the staff were dragging and seemed uninterested and not properly trained for hospitality. We had a Pickleball Centre behind our room literally and the noise was really loud even with the doors & windows closed from 7.45 am - 6pm each day. The shower had no shelf to place shower gel, shampoo etc.

Food was great, beach area was fabulous. It is walk to town and pavements are very unsafe. We used the beach instead which was so much easier even at night.

This is a great local hotel with the best beach bar! We booked a garden room through hotels.com and when we arrived they gave us a pool/ocean view room!! It's rustic, nothing fancy, no TVs BUT the location is excellent, it's clean, the bar is great, the view (and sunrise) is incredible and the staff are always friendly!

This property is pretty dated and run down. The employees do a great job cleaning and keeping it up but for what they charge for a room ($180/nt) it needs some attention. Also the bar is a great spot but they were not super friendly and didnt have any music or anything going to liven up the place. The location of the hotel is great and the staff were hard working. For $100 a night I would stay again, but not for $180.

Had a ball. Love this place. Friendly and helpful staff. We fished every day and the operation runs like a well oiled machine. Absolutely LOVE the tiki bar on the beach. Martin and Leo are excellent bartenders. Ask Martin to make you ceviche with your fresh catch.....the best I have ever had. Don’t forget to tip him!
I have stayed here 4 times already and will definitely go back.
Restaurant has a small menu but there are good restaurants close to the hotel as well.
No TVs, so be prepared to get away from it all.

Beautiful location and walkable distance to shops, restaurants and transportation rentals. Our room was facing the pool, which also had an ocean view, and this was an amazing sight to wake up to in the morning.
This is a bit smaller than your normal hotel, so the gift shop/office has set hours and is not 24/7. Even still, staff members were quite friendly and accommodating.

Everything was good except service in the restaurant. The service was terrible. Plop your food down and not come back. She would see you had an empty cup of coffee and force you to ask for a refill, then had an attitude. The rest of the staff was great! Tomas was outstanding, and Martin at the bar. Love this hotel/resort. What specifically you ask? Beachfront hotel. Excellent location for wind sports ass Vela Baja is on sight. The sports package deal with Vela covers your bike, kayak, SUP, snorkel, etc... The option to use the larger pool, jacuzzi, and others amenities at the larger sister resort next door. Pickleball courts. Central to Los Barriles. Service from the entire staff. I had a flight cancellation due to weather so needed to schedule and extra night and the reception staff was excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the mattresses and linens were good but not luxurious. Great option for windsports and just enjoying Los Barriles.

Stayed here to do kiting and windsurfing and loved the place! The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. The room and the grounds were well kept, maintained, and cleaned. The linens and beds weren’t luxury but certainly comfortable enough. The ability to used the larger pool and jacuzzi at the sister resort was a great little addition as well. The location is great relative to eating and activities, and of course the hotel being on the beach is excellent! I had windsurfing and kiteboarding instructions from the Vela Baja school and was beyond happy! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a base for water sports or biking, or anyonejist generally looking for a nice place in Los Barriles.
