A decent place to stay in the south

Lovely, friendly staff mostly, clean spaces. Note that’s it’s not actually “all inclusive” as there are certain basic drinks that they require you to pay for, eg a mojito or a red bull, which I found pretty strange. It’s actually a “mostly inclusive” but the service was good and the food was okay. Had many issues with the plug sockets in the room too, my phone wouldn’t charge besides the charger working elsewhere. Never an offer to move rooms or try to find a permanent solution so it became a bit frustrating throughout. I guess they did their best but it’s not somewhere I would stay again.

Mattress on the bed was over soft which can cause back pain

Another fantastic stay at Neptuno. It’s my hotel of choice when staying at Playa. The pool area is fantastic with a bar, sauna and steam room. The staff are friendly and will go out of their way to help you. I always was greeted with a smile, the food is delicious. I like the grill and the grill by the pool in the bar area. The room has all the facilities you will need. My only concerns were the water in the pool being murky and people dragging a chair across the floor at all times in the room above me. Other than that I had a lovely time and will be coming back. The hotel also backs onto the Yumbo.

Hotel Neptuno, Gran Canaria

I am a regular visitor to Gran Canaria but this was my first stay at the Neptuno. Although I knew it had a good reputation I was a bit wary about potential noise from the neighbouring Yumbo Centre.

It turned out to be a non-issue. I had a lovely stay. The room was simple but comfortable and very clean, the public areas are attractive and the facilities good, including a gym and wellness area. Staying on a half board basis I found the selection at dinner pretty good, augmented by the nightly selections fresh from the grill. The staff were utterly delightful. I will happily stay there again.

They had a lot of small nice touches, free sangria at the poolside midday, dry rack pullet cords on the balcony for drying your towels and bathies, excellent value for money for anything that wasn't included in all inclusive/half board deal, would definitely come back here for long weekend again. Staff were also really friendly and provided good service.

The hotel is dated, needs revamping. Room was ok, west side room overlooking a garden. Shower terrible, no control of temperature, freezing cold to dangerously hot within a heartbeat. Shower hose split, front door lock failed, pool area small, entertainment poor. The hotel is right behind a huge tourist centre called Yumbo, shops, restaurants and bars, which was nice, some great food here. The beach area is about 15 to 20 minutes away.
I would not consider staying here again.

The hotel could easily have got a five star review but there are many downsides which for a four star hotel I would expect much better from. The major negative is the noise from the downstairs restaurant and pool area. The music is extremely loud and uncomfortable in any room you stay in and the resonance from the microphone on karaoke nights will make you want to scream. Fine if you like cheesy classic karaoke but the sound proofing needs to be hundred times better in the rooms. If you’re a guest who likes peace and quiet this place is not for you. Complaining won’t get you anywhere. The shower temperature is very intermittent from boiling to cool. Very annoying. The kettle is nowhere near a plug. The breakfast is good, the pool, also has sauna and steam rooms which is a nice touch. TV is a smartTV which not many places have in my experience. However I did fork out a bit more than usual to have little luxuries and better attention to detail however I would not stay here again.

A very relaxing and chilled hotel despite being right next to the Yumbo centre. Friendly and helpful staff who always have a smile to greet you with. Pool area is well maintained and there are plenty of sun beds. Food options are excellent with lunch served on the terrace overlooking the pool as a bonus. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Arrived late evening at hotel and staff had kept a cold platter for me to have for dinner as the dinner service had ended (which was really thoughtful of them). Rooms and clean and modern. Shower pressure is amazing (best I have had in a hotel). Food at breakfast and dinner good. No complaints.

The Hotel is a nice clean hotel with a beautiful swimming pool, greatly located for the yumbo center nightlife. Food was nice and fresh and the restaurant was really clean. Good coffee and fresh orange juice, although the toasters need updating, they are too slow!
Unfortunately, due to the carnival the music from the Yumbo centre was unbearably loud up to 04:30 and there was no
scape from it, and also the room I had on the first floor, shared a wall with the pool bar and the noise started really early in the morning. So not a place for sleeping and relaxing.

It was ok. I’ve stayed in other hotels in playa del ingles and this one wasn’t a favourite. The room decor was not as nice. But what really brought my rating down for the experience at check out. During check in I had been given a cardboard card to obtain a towel. I told the receptionist I didn’t need one as I brought my own but he still gave me the card. I didn’t read the back of the card but apparently it said I had to hand it back in or I would get a €20 fine. When I checked out, I didn’t have the card as it was never pointed out to me that I had to return this rice of cardboard when I checked in. Thankfully I found the card in the bin in my room but this seemed a way of conning guests out of another €20.

They have the most noisy housekeeping ever. You will not enjoy your holidays. You will wake up 8 AM because lady will be moving all furnitures in room above.
Reception, location, cleanless is OK. Just housekeeping staff is doing everything to wake up you.

Had a great few days staying here. Room was very clean and the bar/pool area have a nice atmosphere, and are surprisingly quite quiet considering the proximity to the Yumbo. Food was of good quality - personally I preferred the a la carte lunch at the pool bar to the buffet, although that was still good (especially the desserts!). I would definitely stay again in future.

Very stressful arrival having to walk 2 miles with our case because roads closed due to carnival. But the hotel receptionist was lacking empathy or understanding and was demanding I sent the confirmation from hotels.com - despite receiving a message from the hotel only 30min prior to our arrival. I was stressed and tired and flustered. So not a good start but the hotel staff redeemed themselves- good breakfast and very comfortable room

Nice location but the hotel I feel is falling in to disrepair restaurant and bar air broken for years which makes u feel uncomfortable.

Shower tray in room was broken and poorly repaired which still leaked so water poured out on to the floor

Air con in room wasn't working very good either
Hotel insists on men wearing trousers, where females can wear what the like which I think is unfair after all the restaurant is not la cate it's just buffet after all the female don't even dress up for dinner a couple turn upon hot pants and the rude manager though that was acceptable

Steam and sauna didn't work either

Sound proofing needs to be improved too

Stayed here several times, nice friendly 4 star with a good location & mixed adult only crowd old/young/straight/gay and not overly dominated by any one nationality.

Pool area well maintained and room for everyone, no rowdy behaviour and comfortable beds.

Food is of a good standard with plenty of options all buffet style.

Rooms fairly standard but clean and well kept.

The back gate opens directly into the Yumbo shopping/bar area and there can be some noise late into the night but didn’t disturb us and realistically anyone choosing this location is probably wanting to be in the thick of the night time action!

Short winter break at Neptuno

Good service from staff in general from checking to room service. Decent sized rooms. Maria is very attentive at breakfast & dinner. Food in general is good with a variety of mains which probably justifies its 4 stat status.

A couple of negatives - can hear the music until the early hours from the room balcony’s & the gym needs some TLC as a lot of the machines need replacing and are unusable.

A tidy hotel overall.

I’m just grateful to be on holiday in November 2020! I spent a week at the Neptuno on different board options. The hotel can sometimes be quite expensive, maybe not so much at the moment but that’s a reflection of the reduced level of service and reduced demand. I would say the hotel is currently running at 20% occupancy.

I understand that there is normally entertainment in the evenings, but not at the moment. The main restaurant and bar are closed. All meals are to be taken at the outside pool snack bar. This is ok for breakfast and lunch but they are really struggling at the evening meal. The menu is somewhat limited and the same every day. Better off with just B&B and enjoy some of the many amazing restaurants on the doorstep.

Rooms are basic but pleasant enough. This is an older style Spanish hotel and was obviously rated as a 4 star in its heyday. It’s feels more like a 3 star, and a comparable standard to the nearby 3 star Axelbeach.

I would stay here again but only if it was a good deal. It’s not worth paying over the odds for.

There is no kettle or tea/coffee facilities in the room.

Cleaning was completed daily, although underneath the beds wasn’t touched and hadn’t been for some time as it was thick with dust.

The staff at the hotel are it’s best asset. The reception, bar and waiters are all very friendly and pleasant.

The all inclusive package needs some clarification as some drinks were available in the main bar in the evening that were not available in the snack bar during the day. Very confusing. Perfect holiday

Don’t usually bother with reviews but, in this case, I felt the need to give praise where it was due. We stayed in the Neptuno for 7 nights and from beginning to end this was an absolute pleasure. I don’t think I have ever felt so relaxed as I did on this holiday. The staff are amazing, the amenities faultless and the location perfect for our needs. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

The hotel is bright and airy, modern and looks and feels good. Food is buffet style; lots of it and wide choice - good quality too. Although right opposite the Yumbo, the rooms are insulated against noise. Rooms are very well appointed; comfortable bed, coffee facilities, large balcony, extra towels for sunbathing. I felt very happy in this hotel. Highly recommended.

Winter short break

We found the hotel to be very clean & tidy, perhaps a little dated in areas. The staff were exceptional; very cheerful, friendly and efficient; like a big family. The food was extremely good, amazing choice for breakfast & evening meal with two sittings in the evening. The pool area was well maintained with sufficient loungers for a February/March break. Room 234 was well placed & quieter, overlooking the pool and away from the bar area with music. Room 116, overlooking the pool, was a lot noiser being close to the bar & music.
Rooms were as standard and of a reasonable size with balconies.
The hotel is situated amongst other hotels so no views as such and about 15 mins easy walk to the beach. The Yumbo Centre is just over the road which is a large shopping/restaurant/entertainment area which is handy but can be noisy at night, especially I would think in the summer. There is a bus terminal just around the corner which is handy and plenty of restaurants & shops nearby.

Above average Maspalmas hotel near Yumbo centre.

This was my first visit to Gran Canaria. Whilst 'sun & sand' holidays in crowded package holiday destinations such as Maspalmas are not my preference, I was pleasantly surprised by the MUR Hotel Neptuno. The staff were friendly and professional throughout my stay from the initial welcome drink to storing my bags prior to departure. The hotel is maintained in excellent condition. The daily cleaning/maid service is also very good. Breakfast was somewhat hectic and crowded, but the buffet and cooked-to-order omelettes were very good and the staff were courteous and hardworking. The pool area is very well kept and is very popular with guests although somewhat overcrowded with sun loungers. I did not utilise the hotel bar as I preferred to go out to the many establishments nearby. Whilst the hotel is not located at the beach, it is located adjacent to the Yumbo shopping and entertainment complex offering a multitude of restaurants and bars, and the beach is only a short walk.

Gym machines mainly broken and spa not really a spa just a half private room though massage was fine.
Also dining room let hotel down and not up to 4 star. Breakfast inadequate machines to self serve tea/ coffee inadequate caused incessant aiding . Also in evening dessert options run out half way through service and not replenish.Food in hotplates warm rather than kept really hot .

However room pool and lunchtime snack bar were Wipro standard would expect of 4 star

The location and generally restful ambience of this hotel makes it our favourite place to stay in this resort. Staff are caring, friendly and professional. We feel genuinely welcome. The Neptuno is a relatively small hotel with an over 18s policy. The hotel is very gay friendly though has a very mixed clientele by age, orientation and nationality. Many people book a similar week each year to meet up with friends they have made at the hotel.

Never again.

Very old style property, air conditioning extremely poor. Drooping, old, uncomfortable bed. Reception and reservations service very poor. Hotel way over rated. One highlight was the breakfast egg cook - amazing personality, full of life, enthusiasm and passion. Unfortunately she was the only one.

Disappointing hotel

Rooms awful and prior requests ignored. Both our rooms were at the back and side ofcthe hotel and in shadow the entire day.

Reception staff difficult and unhelpful - often only one receptionist on duty and no mansger available.

Nesrly all poolside beds saved by “invisible” guests every morning.

Food average.

Rooms noisy with mudic from Yumbo Centre,

Not good value, no idea of customer care. Will not return to this hotel.

Anyone with walking aids will have trouble here as there are 2 flights of steps 8 and 10 just to get to reception desk and thereafter steps to lift and dining room,pool etc
The hotel pool area is quite small and lounges very low down
The shower water supply on the 5th level was not constant temperature
The garden areas were very poor
The dining area was poorly laid out but the food was very good quality

Great hotel good location

This was my fourth stay at this hotel. The standards haven't dropped. Opted for the half board and the food is always plentiful, of high quality and lots of variety. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Loads of sun beds around a lovely pool. The pool is positioned low so its very comfortable even on a windy day.

The location is great, just next to Yumbo. But you don't get noise from Yumbo though.
The wi-fi worked well and was fast.

All staff excellent, food varied, main courses,cooked fresh ie meat ,fish, also breakfast station for freshly cooked eggs bacon etc. High level of cleanliness, rooms serviced and towels changed most days.
Highly recommended.

Great location and friendly staff

Great access to Yumbo Centre. Loved the pool and although the dining area was underground with no atmosphere or view, the food was varied each day, fresh and great quality.
Pool area was busy but we always found a sunbed...eventually.
Recommend this hotel and will definitely return.
Disappointing bathrooms and aircon just good enough, but neither need to be complained about really

Good Hotel in Good area

Stayed here with a friend at the end of June for 7 nights. Was a bit worried after reading a couple of bad reviews. But we got there easily from the airport on the bus which dropped us 2 min walk away. The lady on reception was very friendly and informative/helpful and check in was good.
Our room was great, clean decent size and had a nice pool view. Bed was good and shower was too. Bathroom was a good size with window to let steam out.
We had half board and the breakfast was good with fresh cooking of eggs and bacon on request along with usual cereals etc. Dinner was also fine with the standard type of buffet food. I didn't get any upset stomach which is obviously a good sign.
The week we stayed the people staying at the hotel were older than we thought they would be. It's situated opposite the Yumbo Centre so convenient for shops or getting home at 5am from the many bars.
Overall didn't have any issues.

Hotel Neptuno - always the best!

Very good location. Friendly staff. Good price. Efficient check-in and check-out. Nice karaoke. Adults only so more relaxing than the 'usual' type of holiday hotel full or children screaming and running around all over the place with parents who can't/don't control them.
