Founded in 1962 in Santa Barbara, California, the hotel chain is synonymous with great travel value. The first hotel in Santa Barbara still carries the torch today, but a lot has changed for the motel chain that pioneered the first real economy motel designed for the no-frills traveller.

We stay here every year because it's affordable and they accept our dog. We don't have any complaints other than the A/C in our room sounded like a jet engine about to take off. We'll be back next year.

There were very many dogs there. My room never received any housekeeping. The showerhead was so flow restricted that it was useless and the shower (no bath) was very small. The room key lost its ability to open the door if it came anywhere near anything magnetic like my phone or wallet. There was nothing in the room that was electric except for the TV, the little refrigerator and the lights. No alarm clock. No microwave. No hair dryer. No iron. No USB charging outlets. No coffeemaker. But it was the cheapest place I could find and was within walking distance to the beach.

Staff looked like they didn't want to be bothered. The room was semi clean. Sign posted not to use the microwave.I had been traveling/ driving all day. I just wanted to warm up food and sleep.I was very disappointed. The fridge was no better very dirty unable to use... so it served its purpose to get some sleep to safely get back on the road but I won't be staying there again.

Don't let the pretty picture of the pool fool you. It's right next to the road and my key didn't even work to open the gate. And that comment about the AC someone left... Mine was so loud I had to leave it off but thankfully it was a cooler weekend.

I want to say that the staff was super nice and there was ice and coffee in the lobby in the morning. But that's all I really have good to say because it is too near to a busy McDonald's and the main road that it was super noisy (kids showing off their engines) Sorry, just being honest. I won't stay there again.

The A/C units are very loud.
They have many guests who are very loud.
Some of the staff were extremely rude. I stayed for a week. I added one more night to my stay towards the end of my visit. I went to the office to extend it. They told me I needed to do this through Expedia because that is how I booked my room. However, with Expedia you cannot change your stay once it is in progress. So, I called the office. She took my payment over the phone and said we would be able to stay in the same room. The next morning the office calls me to tell me they went in my room and \"All my stuff was still there.\" She said I would have to switch rooms. She said I needed to come to the office to check in and show my I.D. I told her I would. Five minutes later she is calling again to ask when I am coming. Then when I was pulling into the parking lot I could see 3 staff members standing outside my room. I went into the office, feeling a little upset, about the way she spoke to me on the phone. I gave her my I.D. and because, then she told me I needed to check out now, because I was trying to show her my email that I had already paid for the room and checked in. She told me I needed to go get my belongings and leave. I went to the room and was getting everything together when the three male staff members waiting outside my room knocked on the door 10 minutes later to tell me I needed to leave the door open.

The site was well maintained and clean as was the room. There is a McDonalds very close by for morning coffee, and Seaward avenue restaurants and the beach are just a few minutes walk away. Great, inexpensive place to stay for a visit to Ventura.

The room was a $85 special, that should have been maybe $60. Paint was peeling from the tub and sink. Amateur paint job on the bathroom walls. No comfortable chair to sit in, and no table to speak of. Small room that was good for sleeping and nothing else. Did I mention that it was super noisy outside? For almost the same price you can stay at another Motel 6 just a few miles away.

the bathroom in unit 180 is terrifying. I tried to clean the shower floor before using it, good thing I had flip flops- the shower had good heat and pressure but the floor of stall was in need of serious repair ( and cleaning ). front desk explained you don't get daily housekeeping, but I saw housekeepers each day I stayed, despite none of them ever cleaning my room. The staff at the front desk was super nice and laundry room staff were nice too when I went to get fresh towels. it's a great location , and I know it's an economy hotel, but they missed on a couple basic things. my bed sheet felt like it had some sand in it. I didn't complain because it was easier to stay put as I was only in the room to sleep each night. probably won't stay there again if I'm ever back in that part of California.

The day staff was very kind and helpful! The night staff was probably very tired and overworked, so that part of the experience wasn't as nice, but you get what you pay for! Someone was blasting music from midnight-4am, but we've had the same thing happened at every cheap hotel we've stayed at in California, so maybe that's just a California thing! With earplugs and white noise going it wasn't too bad. All in all, honestly a bit better than we expected for the price!

My bedsheet had a cigarette hole in it. They gave us a room in an area with section 8 housing individuals who hung outside their room talking loudly, people sitting in the grass where the dog poop bags are in the parking lot.

There is a green fenced area that blocks off part of the parking lot and people would sit behind it to smoke and socialize which was also by our room.

There should be some division between guests and people that stay long term because the people who live there were very loud, a couple argued multiple times which woke myself, my husband, my toddler and 2 dogs. We only stayed 1 out of our 2 nights because it was not comfortable.

The air conditioning kept one side of the room cooler than the other side. There was a big patch on the floor of the shower so there is some proof they do maintenance it just didn’t look done professionally.

The price was cheap so I guess you get what you paid for.

Staff was very friendly at check in. They required IDs for each adult in the room and provided a parking pass. I didn’t have interaction upon check out as they said just open the curtains so they know we are gone and leave the keys.

Nice place. But its cali, the prices i transfered for work and it's crazy how non of the hotels out here give u discounts for staying longer. They actually increased the original price, so a 3rd party would say room is 80, they quoted me 115 a night for 2 weeks thats crazy. When in WA or OR (where im coming from, its 55-65 a night on the beach. Sad when the rooms small no microwave and shet coasts over 100 a night, thats crazy

All amenities at the front desk area very far away. Weird activity at night. Not a safe feeling. Parking lot kinda weird and cracky. The people hanging out. No security. Over priced no coffee machine in the room. Only good thing might be the ability to subsist for a night so you can rush home the next day. At least the water was warm. The bed was hard and soft squishing on one side. There was only cold white overhead light. This was a disaster. Glad I brought my own blanket and pillow. Found dirty curly pubes on the sheets. Just deplorable.

I would never recommend this motel 6 to anyone. First off there shampoo, soap, hair dryer, coffee maker. Beverage machine was broken, when I went to go to the office to ask for shampoo and soap the attendant was rude and said there was no soap or shampoo. This place only wants your money and could care less if your stay was good. I can’t proof it but one hour after we checked out we got an alert from our bank and was told someone was trying to use our credit card and this was the only place I used my card. They should give us a total credit refund because this motel is operated poorly and by bad management. Even when we got there to check in there was a bad disturbance and the police were in the parking lot looking for the people causing the problem. No one wants to stay at a motel and get bad service, unfriendly management, and have problems there and police officers roaming the building.

The cable TV was not good. The way to access the TV guide was to turn the TV off and turn it back on. Then the guide did not show all of the channels that were available. I did not find this out until the last day. Very frustrating. This needs to be fixed. Also, the hot water in the shower was hard to access. The faucet handle had to be in the exact location to get hot water. This was room no. 107. I have stayed here many times and have not had these problems previously.
