The Pierpont Inn established in 1910. Is a nice reasonably priced old hotel/motel. Good views of the ocean, close. To the beach and downtown amenities, . clean room, tidy but people need to know it is right next to the 101 freeway. Could not be closer for traffic noise and the visual distraction of traffic whizzing by at 70 mph. If cheap enough it works all day.

This is 100% a Motel. The pictures are from a long time ago, or what they wanted the property to eventually be, not current at all. They look nothing like this property. The room is not at all as pictured.
It's off the freeway, and since it's an old Motel, that's all you hear. I was really disappointed with the property and what I paid for this room. The doors don't lock properly, and the sliding glass door is a joke. I didn't feel safe here at all.
A Motel 6 would have been nicer than this place.

Breakfast was good, problem we had was , they changed our credit card 250.00 for smoking in the room, this never happened, we contacted them and told them if you review your security cameras you will find on several accounts my wife and I went outside to smoke, while taking our pup out , I was left a message the next day by the manager, that it didn’t matter if we smoked in the room or not , and that it’s private property, and they have a zero tolerance smoking policy, however, both my self and my wife observed a clearly marked smoking area , and used it , my question would be why would you have zero tolerance, and provide a smoking area , they have refused to refund the money, also the air conditioner and heat and fan did not work they also refused to do anything about that , we had to stay in a room that was hot and stuffy , and had no air circulation, they didn’t care , I informed them before we left, they didn’t want to do anything about it, safe didn’t work, the said sorry they would credit me 10.00 dollars , I have been staying at this place since 2021 and have never had a problem until the last 2 times 2026 , will be filling a dispute with my bank, and if we don’t get a 250.00 credit back we will be filing suit against the hotel for the smoking charge, stay away if you need air conditioning or a safe, they don’t work, all issues were reported and again they refused to do anything.

I think there were too many cons. I orginally booked this reservation because of the ocean view. However, our ocean view was in the living room of the suite and the room itself was right next to a very busy highway that we could hear all night long. The pictures were very deceiving. Our microwave in the room did not work and all of the couch furniture had visible stains on them, the Inn looks very run down and they should invest in new furniture. They couldnt even offer complimentary water.......

It is so rundown. Registration office is towards the back. Everything is too old. Vintage can be beautiful and mixed with newer things would be nice. The towels were so small and thin. Beds were not very comfy. The breakfast was terrible. Online photos were deceiving. WILL NEVER GO BACK. Especially for what they charge. Almost $300 a night we expected it to be nicer.
Leo was very nice however and helped us find our room.

No elevators, so if stairs are an issue, request rooms that don't require stairs. Ocean view is peaceful & we discovered our windows opened so the air was wonderful & we left it open the whole week. If traffic noise bothers you, don't get an ocean view as freeway is right next to the Inn. However, we enjoy that type of \"white noise\" to sleep so we enjoyed it along with the trains. Our room had a huge shower stall, very roomy, but an extra silver grip bar on the shower wall and no-slip strips on the floor of the shower would provide extra safety. We also wish the shower head had a detachable hand-held sprayer to help with rinsing as the showerhead is very high. An ice machine is not on every floor nor is a baggage cart, but even though no elevators, a baggage cart would be helpful at top of stairs. First hotel I've seen with a handsoap dispenser on the bathroom wall...yay!!! No bars of barely-used soap..yay!! Shower had similar dispensers for body wash & shampoo. Walk to beach took 10 minutes, pier was 20 minutes... Restaurant was closed for renovations so we'll catch it next time, but my previous visit had a great experience both in-restaurant and room service. Wonderfully comfy beds with 4 soft pillows (we had 2 queens), fridge, microwave, nice size flat screen TV.
Highly recommend & will stay again. :-)

This property is dilapidated uncomfortable bed, thread bare ratty “antique” furniture looks like it was dragged out of the back of a garage. The breakfast was like those at all budget motels. No daily housekeeping. Window AC unit didn’t work right. Ceiling fan sounded and looked like it would fall from the ceiling.code violations abound.

Property is outdated. Non working elevators, back parking lot didn’t feel safe, beds were not comfortable, patio screen door was off hinges, view of beach was from a long distance; pictures are deceiving. If you want to be closer to ocean view ask before you book otherwise you will be looking at the oceanfront from across several properties. Price is not worth it.

Parking was good had our own private stop sense we got the cottage room. Staff was nice and helpful. Room could have been cleaner sense i had 2 spiders crawl on me. Floors werent very clean either. But the stay was nice and relaxing so it was nice either way. Rustic and charming.

For the breakfast, the first day, I did not see an attendant for about 20 minutes and there was need to fill the eggs and the milk. When she did arrive, I had asked if she would refill things. It took her a bit, but she did do it as far as feeling dog friendly. Everybody was very nice yet. There is only one area that they want the dogs to be at everywhere else else’s signs saying no docs so I did feel it was a little contradictory as far as saying, their dog friendly, but only on that one patch of grass.

The grounds are beautiful. The Inn is old but they are working on it. We love the big rooms because we are quilters and bring our machines, cutting boards, etc and there is still room to spread out and pin your quilt.

The Pierpont Inn used to be a great hotel in it's day but it's obvious that they are in desperate need of a remodel. However, parts were under construction so maybe that's what is happening. They told us the pool was heated but it was pretty cold. And there were no umbrellas around the pool area, so that made it hard to get out of the sun. Overall our room had a beautiful ocean view and it was clean and spacious.

The hotel is an older hotel that has been updated. The grounds are beautiful with flowers and greenery. We could see the ocean from our second-floor room balcony. The bathroom did have an odor, I believe it was the old pipes/plumbing that allowed the odor to enter. The outdoor breakfast area was perfect for starting the day! It was a partially covered patio with a large window facing the ocean and the hotel's flower garden. We walked to the beach in under 5 minutes and walked over to a pizzeria and to a pub within a 12-15 minute walk.

Lovely ocean views, big room that had a back door to the pool area with a little private sitting area. You can walk down to the beach in about 5 minutes, 20 minutes to the pier. Property is in the process of refurbishing but all the essentials are there.

Where do I start? This place is nothing like the photos. The historic middle section of the hotel is fenced off. You are really staying at an attached motel. Room was fine. Bed was comfortable. Staff was decent but did not tell us there was a grab and go breakfast for marathoners. I was told the place was purchased by Marriot so HOPEFULLY they will renovate everything. Sad property for now. Parking easy and breakfast good. Views okay but you are viewing over a noisy freeway.

When we got to our room it was 57 degrees… FREEZING!!! And the heater didn’t work. We would change the settings to heat and it automatically changed back to “cool”. It was a very uncomfortable night.

Pretty run down overall. Breakfast buffet is pretty awful. Fake eggs, cold potatoes. We skipped it the second day.

A lot of switches didn’t work in the room, lights burned out. Restaurant is “closed for renovations ” I wonder if they don’t have the money or staff to run it.

Not many people there so it was quiet and the weather was beautiful.

I didn’t know the Restuarant portion of the hotel was closed. The first room I was given was so old. It looked like nothing had been changed or upgraded in over 10 years. I complained and was given a smaller room but it had a fireplace and a balcony so that was nice. All in all we had a great time because of all the fond memories we had of the place from years ago. I wouldn’t go again because the hotel is very outdated and as i age I much rather be at a newer hotel for the money we spent.

Overall much better than just a continental breakfast. The view was the best part of breakfast though. Beautiful little sunroom overlooking a garden and the ocean. The gardens are serious neglected but still charming. Overall great stay in a historic hotel.

They have a banner for their renovations to be completed in 2023, it’s looks as if that isn’t even in progress The restaurant was closed and they are using an area or room and calling it a restaurant. They only serve a premade breakfast. The place is rundown and is in need of a complete restoration. Our room was old and cold. The thermostat would not go above 68 degrees, water damaged walls, a gap on the bottom of the door. Old and sagging TemperPedic mattresses. The hot water wasn’t hot and the metal ring around the shower control was not attached to the shower wall. I guarantee there is mold growing somewhere in those walls. $10 for parking even though it’s basically a ghost town there. This place should be leveled.

No, the breakfast menu was that of a seven eleven.The tables were all dirty, one person was trying to handle the whole thing. As far as the room conditions, a room was clean.Bathroom was clean, but there are no exhaust fans which hold a lot of moisture inside of the unit i could smell the lead paint and the humidity under the years.And years of wood as well as the popcorn ceiling that had probably asbestos, I work as a abatement, tester.So I definitely know that smell

At check in the staff member was friendly and polite. She explained the property layout very well. Once we got to our room which was the King ocean view suite we noticed that it was a little aged and maybe not quite what was advertised. Opening the curtains we could barely see the ocean because the amount of dirt on the outside of the windows which couldn’t open. Moving on the door looked like it was kicked in recently. Neither one of the two tv remotes both down volume and channel worked. Or the thermostat down button. Getting into the shower we noticed the lack of towels and wash cloths and found the dispenser in the shower was completely empty. We are not a super critical couple and will normally roll with the punches but come on. Based on the single night stay in town we just put up with the situation and continuously made jokes about it. We also had gotten another room for my mother in law which was a little cleaner and the remote worked. So thanks for that at least. At checkout the manager was rude and unwilling to listen to my issues with my accommodations not even asking for a discount or refund. We will not ever be returning to this property and will be using this as reference joke for eternity.

Breakfast was bad, with limited options and poor quality of food. Not sure how something as simple as scrambled eggs can taste weird. There was one waffle maker and a line of folks waiting for it. Most hotels with breakfast have a few options for cereal, but here there were just individual packed boxes of cornflakes. Even the red skin potatoes tasted strange. I dont think the cook is doing anything wrong… its just probably the subpar products that are used in the kitchen

This was the worst hotel stay I've ever had in my life. The building was shady and felt unsafe. The \"cottage\" next to mine threw an all-night party that kept me wide awake until 4am, partly because of the music and partly because of the people vomiting outside my door. The jacuzzi's hot water ran out after 5 minutes so I couldn't use it. The phone in the room wasn't connected so I couldn't call the front desk for help with anything. I cannot possibly recommend this place less. Do not stay here.

My wife and I stayed here after a previous trip here about 7 years ago. A lot has changed. There is no restaurant, the window that looked toward the pier was filthy, there were ants in our room and a nasty odor coming from the drains. The ceiling was black by the heating vent, breakfast was ok but not great. Location is fantastic and we still enjoyed our time there but sad to see the property not being maintained to the previous standard. Mentioned my concerns to the woman at check out and she said she’d return our deposit in 7 days and pass my comments along. She didn’t make any notes and went onto the next guest. Felt like she was offended more than concerned. This is a beautiful, historic property in a great location. I wish they had the money and management to resurrect it instead of just going through the motions.

An historic property, under renovation, and overlooking the ocean and the highway. Beautiful gardens and walking distance to beach and historic downtown. It was also only 20 minute walk from Amtrak station. Although the highway is loud outside, you can’t hear it within the rooms. Nice staff and good breakfast.
