We’ve always wanted to stay at the Cliffs - and finally got to. We enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and comfortable. Our view from the window and front door looked straight at the ocean.
The pool is heated and so nice to swim in - they do serve dinner, so a night swim really wouldn’t be comfortable.
We walked down to beach for the sunset.
The buffet breakfast was good. Nothing fancy, boiled eggs, toast, cereal -and yogurts.
We would definitely stay there again on our 101 travels!

The property sits nicely on a cliff with a great view of the ocean. The room is comfortable but the bathroom if a bit cramped with a very small shower. Breakfast is your standard continental but the addition of fresh fruit was a nice touch.
The staff was very friendly!

Everything was great, except, if you have people above you, the person at the desk shouod remind those checking in above you to be considerate of those below them. The walls are thing and people just walking around in their room can sound extremely loud :( Also, I expected an iron and ironboard, and they were not in the room. Fortunately, they had an iron at the front desk I was able to use.

I had the standard ocean view, king bed, room and it is very small but comfortable. You are so close to the ocean it is pretty incredible. I heard the waves crasing all night long - I slept like a baby.

Parking is really tight.

I booked this room for 4 nights. We left after the first day. This place is very outdated. Bathroom faucet broke, TV didn't work. The so called restaurant is in the basement and very shoddy in my opinion. We ended up staying at the new Marriott in Ventura. The beach in the pictures is not available. You have to walk a half mile to a mile to access the beach. The pier in their pictures is owned by an oil company and not available. They wouldn't refund me the three nights but it was worth leaving. Make sure you bring your own drinks because their is nothing available.We have stayed at hotels and motels across the US but this was by far the worse,

The Cliff House Inn provides an experience worth the driving it takes to get around! The restaurant has great tasting food and the continental breakfast was perfect for what it is. The warm pool and lounge chairs situated at the oceans door can’t be beat. Actually sleeping with the waves crashing all night, no better sound machine on Earth! I want to one star this place so i can gate keep it but 5 stars doesn’t even cover it.
Its a motel with motel vibes as far as the room goes, what makes it special is the land.

In the 1940s this place was built and my family started going. My great grandmother was a long term tenant, and for generations we have gone there to experience healing. 5 generations deep of us, even living in Texas now we make time to go here and heal. There arent many places crowd free, that you can watch dolphins and surfers do their thing while sipping a glass of champagne and listening to nothing but the surf. It has my heart and if you need to restore it will have yours. The staff has been there forever and deserve the world. If this place ever gets listed for sale i will sell a kidney to buy it, its that special.

Property location is fabulous. Hotel sits right on the beach and the noise from the surf fills the air. Because there are a lot of rocks, it's not an undulating surf, it's loud and it's constant. I like it.

The property itself though leaves a lot to be desired. It wasn't third world filthy, but it wasn't very clean. Floors were very dirty. Window sills were also dirty. Baseboards were dirty. Bedding and linens seemed fine. Lots of deferred maintenance. Many things were broken or in bad repair. Bathroom faucet handles were barely hanging on. Marble backsplash was cracked. There was dry rot present in door casings and baseboards. Toilet seat was hanging on by a thread. Shower surround was worn and there was drywall damage and mold at the top. The walls are VERY thin and if the ocean-facing window is closed, the sounds of the surf are replaced by the sounds of the freeway which is <100 feet away from the front of the property. The rooms have a feel of an owner that's no longer putting any $$ into the property and is simply looking to sell it ASAP.

The room was just perfect the view and believe it or not interestingly enough it was pretty quiet no traffic but we could hear the ocean just lovely. Jamie at the front desk could not be more accommodating has the rest of your staff Billie Ray and the restaurant we had dinner there twice. We only stayed two nights and we met some lovely people as well. What a great spot. We’ll be back again and again.

Shabby Chic, beautiful location. Needs a major overhaul as the bathrooms have quite a bit of mildew and rust, be prepared for an ewww factor. Everything needs paint. Pool was lovely and you can’t beat the beautiful view of the ocean with birds, dolphins and surfers.

Dirty, cigarettes under our bed. While I was up early in the morning and had to drive 5 miles away to get coffee because they didn’t have coffee there I came back and was sitting on one of the benches when the staff turn the sprinklers on me. Crazy.

I've been coming to the Cliff House Inn for probably 30+ years. I've watched it change over the years from being a motel to being an Inn. The staff, the cleanliness, the wonderful breakfasts are always a 10. What is NOT a 10 is the price, that seems to have doubled over the past year or so. Instead of staying 4 nights, we stayed 2. The hotel is a mix of updated and outdated. There was water damage to the bathroom cabinet, a dated bath/shower enclosure, rust on metal fixtures, bedside lamps that were starting to fall off the wall, blinds that were were starting to wear, and single-pane windows to the front of the building/ parking and hwy noise. Then the bed, drawers, and ocean facing window were clearly updated and replaced not as long ago. Breakfast was very basic and included few warm options, besides toast and bagels. The rooms do not have water kettles or coffee, so you have to access this during breakfast hours. Overall, it was lovely to have such a view and I am not sure I would stay again anytime soon.

Beautiful location but property needs updating. Air conditioning is not available. Ceiling fan is the only available air. Pool looks great but guests have limited use since the hotel restaurant makes use of all deck space especially on the weekends.

Excellent place to stay! Pool by the sea, with access to a beach full of mussel Shoals. With so many amenities offered like wifi, smart view tv connection to use your phone to watch movies or listen to music on tv, to free breakfast, extra clean rooms, extra roll of toilet, hair dryer, lots of storage room and clothes hangers, cozy blankets and comfortable pillows.They have a Restaurant on the lower level by the pool and beach that offers delicious, fresh food! This hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms with beautiful views of the ocean. Worth every penny spent on my stay here! Amazing views and wave sounds all night! Nothing but peace and tranquility!

First, all rooms have a beach view. It’s truely amazing and on two of three days we saw Dolphins swimming. We did not walk the nearby beach and we read about the “no northbound exit” beforehand. It didn’t bother us one bit. The view, the staff and the caretakers were amazing and did everything to make our stay awesome. They had recommendations, extra towels, drinks even though the restaurant was closed. Rooms were clean and the property was taken care off. We wanted to be at the beach and that’s exactly where we were. Will stay there again!

We love this place we almost don’t want to tell anyone about it!
I do wish they had a hot tub though so that when visiting and the weather happens to run fresh there would still be an amenity to enjoy. It would also be nice if they offered a burger or something a bit more chill on the dinner menu too so that if you’re staying more than one night you don’t get bored of the same seafood fancy food! Like, we love fancy food, but sometimes you just want a burger 😂

We recently stayed at Cliff House Inn for 4 days to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it turned out to be such a memorable getaway.

The hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly located. I had requested a birthday surprise, and they thoughtfully decorated our room with flowers, which made it feel extra special. Our room was clean, cozy, and had an ocean-facing view, waking up to the sound of waves was just magical.

One of the best parts of our stay was simply soaking in the surroundings, whether it was sitting by the pool, watching the ocean waves crash, or enjoying the stunning sunsets right from the property. They also offer a continental breakfast, and having it while sitting by the ocean made mornings feel so peaceful and relaxing.

The location is super convenient too, very close to the freeway, about 15 minutes from Santa Barbara and 15 minutes from Ventura Harbor, which made exploring really easy.

The property itself is gorgeous, with trails nearby that are great for biking. And the highlight? We even spotted whales and dolphins from the beach chairs during sunset, such an unforgettable experience.

Overall, it was a really lovely stay and the perfect place to relax, celebrate, and enjoy some quiet time by the ocean. Highly recommend!

The view is beautiful, however the Front Desk staff and the guest right below us was rude. We stayed on spur of moment after the death of my mom. It was 8:52 pm and we received a knock on our door front the front desk stating the neighbors below are complaining we were loud. All we were doing was laughing and nothing more. A few minutes later the guest below walked up and knocked on our door asking what we were doing. My daughter complained and walked to front desk to complain that the guest came and knocked on our door. The staff could’ve handled it better. Especially since visiting the room themselves and seeing that it was just normal convo and no party going on.

Seems like a nice place, which is why I booked it for a Valentine's Day getaway with the girlfriend. When we showed up on Valentine's Day night, they informed us that they had a problem with their server, and had somehow lost our booking. With some looking they found our reservation, but then informed us they had no room for us that night but that they would refund our money and give us a complementary stay to make it right. While we did eventually get our money back they did not honor their word for the complementary stay, which is a bummer. Hope your experience is better if you stay here, the location was pretty good.

It overlooked the beach and food was great. Just spendy. Cable never worked no water pressure. Little parking. Had to pick up food for the room. Steak dinner was great but no plates plastic silver ware. Night time to much noise from downstairs. I won't recommend to anybody.

I stayed here for one night. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in front of the ocean, with a beautiful view. It’s also very convenient for getting on and off Highway 101.

I booked an ocean view room, but it was located up a set of stairs, and the window faced the stairway. Every time someone passed by, it made it hard to relax.

While the flooring in the room seemed newly updated, the rest felt quite outdated. The shower, in particular, was terrible—within a minute of turning on the water, it wouldn’t drain properly and started to pool, which was very unpleasant. There were also holes in the walls, and the blinds next to the toilet and sink were extremely dirty.

Breakfast was below average, so don’t expect much. The coffee was not good, and there was no decaf option. There were small pastries, bread, bagels, boiled eggs, fruit, and cereal, but when I went at 9 a.m., the fruit was already gone. Dinner, on the other hand, was reasonably good.

Great location! Great staff, had dinner at their restaurant and it was delicious! Property is old and it feels like a motel 6. The rooms have thin walls and the bed was hard as a rock for my taste. Place was clean. That being said, you can’t beat the price and it’s so lovely and secluded. Will def come back again for dinner.

You can't beat an ocean front view. It was a nice room and bed was comfy. My only complaint, which isn't that big of an issue, but no AC in the room and the pool wasn't heated. I know it's right in front of the ocean, but the rooms get hot and a fan doesn't cut it for me. And the pool should be on all winter, right?! But I will definitely be going back, but only during the colder season.

3 star staff and building modernization, and people who stay there. i kinda felt unwelcome by like 7/10 people there. bed frames were falling apart before i got there.

2 star breakfast. the food was okay, but not the best. they had a fridge, so i was able to bring my own food which was nice.

4.5 star location. i loved many things about the location. one was being able to just walk down to the beach.

the -0.5 is only because it’s so close to the highway, you can hear the cars when you leave your window open at night. (we had to bc it was so warm and we couldn’t keep the fan on without the light staying on)

although three stars, i would DEFINITELY stay again, amazing time if you have someone with you. i’m not too picky about a lot of these things so i would definitely stay again. Thank you for having me there, it was a privilege!

The room was just okay. The room could use some updating and re-thinking about the use of space. The bed was very soft and not supportive. The location was very nice, but the pool while clean was not heated and, therefore, unusable. On Saturday morning, the office was supposed to have been open at 7 am. But it did not open until after 8 and no staff member responded to repeated rings of the service bell after 7 am. At night, the staff was putting tables back inside below our room and the sound of banging continued for over an hour after 10pm.

Rooms were fine. We did enjoy sitting along the ocean for breakfast, and we were able to sit even closer one evening to listen to the waves. They had lots of chairs available
