No one should EVER stay at this property. Expedia should stop representing them. When I got the office to check in the man at the desk told me I had a balance to pay. He told me my card didn't work. I told him I paid for the stay in full to Expedia. I showed him my receipt and confirmation number and he screamed at me. That means nothing to me. I can't give you a free room. I reiterated that I paid and have a receipt. He screamed again and said I needed to get a refund from Expedia. I called Expedia. They were amazing and booked me into a different hotel. I had traveled 3,000 miles and been awake for almost 20 hours at that point. Never stay at the Vagabond Inn in Carpinteria.

The room was pretty clean and the staff was helpful. The motel was busy and well booked so it felt safe. The hotel is located near the highway. I was on the 3rd floor facing the pool. You could still hear the highway noise quite a bit, but after the first night I got used to it. I realize it's mostly psychological, because most people can sleep inside of a moving car on a noisy highway but have trouble sleeping when they hear the slightest noise. I just pretended the highway noise was a good background to lull me to sleep and it worked.

The Vagabond Inn is under new management. The motel was clean, sheets soft, and the young man who checked me in was professional. My concerns were twofold. 1. The room smelled sharply of air fresheners. I turned on the a/c and more air fresheners blasted into the room. I slept with the a/c off to keep the overpowering scent at bay. 2. The room was also near the highway and noisy. I understand this cannot be helped, but since I couldn’t turn on the a/c, it was a too warm room, and uncomfortable sleep. I let management know in the morning, and when he couldn’t find my reservation, he just seemed to give up. He did confirm air fresheners were in the units.

I made a reservation, arrived at the location and the name was different, the receptionist said two weeks ago the ownership had changed and nobody decided to let anyone who made a reservation before that was obsolete. Of course when this happened I arrived at 10 pm with a minor in tow and they had no available rooms for the night. I cannot review the location since I never saw any of the rooms. The location still shows as Motel 6 on maps, but if searching Motel 6 Carpinteria the result shows as Vagabond.

Never had a chance to stay here. I booked through Travelocity more than a month before my stay. Booking was confirmed. When I tried to check in, the front desk person could not find my reservation, said it was lost because they are “debranding” from Motel 6, and did not offer to help me any further. Thankfully I used the pay later option so I didn’t have to fight to get my money back, but this was an extremely poor customer service experience from both the hotel and Travelocity.

The mattress was very worn; the springs creaked audibly. Very small room and the minimal furniture was worn out. Very helpful and efficient staff however. the room was tiny, beds were tiny and uncomfortable. the key would never work even though we got it replaced many many times. the lady claimed it was “near a phone so it messed up the magnet”. we asked to at least get a small refund to go elsewhere and she refused. it smelled bad too, you can hear the people next to you and above you like they were in your room. it was hard to sleep. on top of that, the price for 2 night for me was $322 which is way overpriced for what you’re getting. absolute scam. just pay the extra 200 and get a nice hotel. i absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone. worst 2 days of my life.

The front desk person was unbelievably helpful and probably one of the best representatives of Motel 6 I've ever encountered. I had one small complaint: the bathroom sink water. It took over 10 minutes for the water to get warm and the flow was very, very low. I had to go turn on the shower to increase the water flow and get some warm water out of the bathroom sink. They definitely need to find a way to get the water to warm up faster, and to increase the flow because it was very weak. Other than that, it was a great stay.
