We are a family of 3 kids (3-10 yo) and 2 adults. 1 bed + loft + sofa bed was perfect for us. We loved the convenient location and took advantage of breakfast and the surrey/bike rental. Enjoyed free surrey rental for 4 hours. Comfy beds. Quiet area that is perfectly walkable to beach, boardwalk, wharf, restaurants, wineries. Didn’t get a chance to try pool and hot tub, but these are additional amentities. Beautiful trees and Spanish style architecture. Just a wonderful location with excellent staff and amentities. Will come again and again.

Very pet friendly! Staff was super helpful and customer service oriented. Pool was nice, jacuzzi looked great and is separate from the pool - I actually liked this. We had a basic king size room and it was HUGE. Had a living room space with table to eat breakfast and couch with a decent sized tv which had chrome cast.

Bathroom was clean, and had plenty of towels. Bed was very comfortable. Location is AMAZING. 13min walk from Funk Zone, and 4min from the beach.

We recently returned from an excellent stay at the Franciscan, in a Junior King suite. The hotel is very quiet (thick walls, on a side street) and clean, with nice beds. Our room had a mid-size fridge, microwave, coffee maker and all the dishes we needed. In terms of amenities, I would recommend sealing off the second bedroom door and placing a dresser/chest of drawers in that space, so guests have a place to store personal items. My only caveat about this lovely small hotel is that the hotel just changed ownership, so I don’t know if the new owners will do things differently.

Lovely hotel room, recently renovated. Pool and hot tubs were nice and clean. Breakfast was a limited but very good buffet, range of options such as muffins, bagels, eggs, bacon and sausage plus cereals.
Location is perfect! A mile walk from the main village/town and steps from the beach/marina.
They also offer free bike rentals and afternoon cookies!
We will definitely be back.

We enjoyed the location and walked to the beach, wharf and restaurants and drove easily to vineyards and other beaches. We loved the free bikes, warm pool and hot tub as extra treats. The front desk staff was so helpful when we checked in, giving us lots of area info. Good breakfast. One of our two beds had an older feeling mattress that wasn’t very comfortable. We’d return there for sure.

My only “complaint” was the walls were very thin and you could hear everything going on in other rooms and outside. Earlplugs helped. The real gem of this property was the staff however. Ben at the front desk was so accommodating, friendly, and made such a great impression on me checking in. He took a good experience to GREAT.

I love the corner back rooms by the water fountains. The only drawback I had on this visit was my key card kept having to be red-keyed for no reason (kept in separate pants pocket by not his else) and there was massive tree trimming, so I had to move my car twice, and then was trapped in the lot for 4 hours. I had a friend pick me up and I'm sure this only happens twice a year but if the front desk had told me I would have parked on the street. Other than that, great shower and coffee, tea and cookies in the lobby, plenty of towels, comfortable bed, great location for beach walking, and food. I love this hotel and stay here at least 3 times a year.

The room was good and the property was very nice. Good location also. The room however was extremely warm. The AC did not work and even with the windows open all night it was ridiculously hot. We actually left in the middle of the night due to the heat. We went to talk with someone in the office, but it was closed at the time.

Staff was very courteous (CJ and Ben). I had some iPhone issues and had to get some assistance with fixing it. Ben helped with how to work the flatscreen remote in my room (not intuitive) but Ben was very patient with getting it working.

I will be back and will definitely like to schedule Room 151. My pup really liked being able to run outside to the enclosed patio too. Aside from the iPhone and the remote, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We are traveling with our dog, Norman. He is so welcome here by the staff and other customers. Our room has more amenities than anticipated, and it's clean and spacious.
Most of all, the staff is amazing. Ask for Ben at the front desk if you have any problems or concerns. He is gracious and more than accommodating. I recommend this hotel

The kitchenette area was fully equipped as advertised and all was new and squeaky clean. The room was very comfortably furnished, and the bed was comfortable to sleep in (not too hard or too soft). Ben at the front desk was very helpful when checking us in. Loved this hotel and would gladly stay again.

Lovely stay. My husband and I stayed for a little getaway, but we would love to go back with the kids. It’s a short walk to the beach, MOXI, train station and great food. Everything was clean and comfortable.

Our check in was fine. The staff was courteous, but not overly friendly. We later learned that fresh-baked cookies were available, but we were not notified at the time, which was disappointing. I was also reminded after our trip that we were supposed to have a room with a balcony, but instead we had a ground floor room with a view of trashcans, which is clearly less impressive.

The Franciscan exceeded my expectations for my first time being here, the room was very cozy and just right with the amount of amenities. It could have used a bit more storage for clothes but other than that it was perfect 👌 Thank you 😊 to the staff for making it a memorable trip. Will definitely be back.

I don't know if there is a glitch with Expedia but the room types displayed on Expedia do not match the actual room types in the hotel. I thought I had booked a suite with one queen and one full bed but the booking on their end showed only one bed. The hotel was able to accommodate us with a room with a pullout couch, and it was just one night, but it was still a problem. Anyway, the bathroom was especially nice and they actually had complimentary breakfast so it worked out. Otherwise, I would've been upset about paying more for a lesser room. Again, no issues with the property, but the listing on Expedia is misleading (room types and free breakfast availability).

Staff are courteous and polite. Very clean room. I booked for a king bed room with balcony, and was given a bigger room with a living room and a small kitchen. We very much appreciate the good surprise. Have stayed in other hotels in Santa Barbara before, and It’s our first time in this hotel, and we will for sure be back. We had a great stay. Love this place! It’s been remodeled and family owned and dog friendly for well behaved pups. We loved the full fridge and microwave option but it’s so close to the ocean and all the restaurants. Great place to stay!! Fantastic and knowledgeable service as well!

Outside was well maintained with vegetation & clean grounds. Front desk staff was friendly & helpful with questions (how to use tv).

Rooms were super clean, loved the all white bedding. Room was furnished with a queen size bed, two nightstands, a small table and two chairs. In the closet you could find an ironing board, iron, hairdryer & a safe. The bathroom was stocked with shower wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion & hand soap.

The bedding was super comfy. My only critique was the bed’s lack of motion-isolation—my husband would get up & I’d instantly wake up with the movement.

Breakfast is served from 7:30-9:30am—eggs, bagels, cream cheese, sausage, cereal, bacon & coffee.

The location was perfect!!! Everything is within walking distance.

Would definitely stay here again!

Great location. However I booked the hotel because it was supposedly dog friendly. On my first night there I received a knock on my door from the female receptionist saying guest were complaining about my dogs. My dogs barked when people walked by the door but do not continue to bark. This was about 8:30pm and the receptionist was very rude when she let me know about my dogs. My dogs slept through the night without barking and the next day they didn't bark at all when people walked by the door as they became comfortable with their new environment. I liked the location of the hotel but cut my trip short as I didn't feel welcomed with my dogs. If you're looking for a dog friendly hotel I would not recommend this hotel otherwise it was fine.

What a wonderful experience staying at the Franciscan. Ben welcomed us on a Saturday everning, as we drove in from being in Solvang, all day. He was welcoming, so informative with things we could do in Santa Barbara and gave us all the details that would make our stay even better. The morning breakfast was the cherry on top. Absolutely staying here again and recommended- highly.

Decent price for the location, not a lot of frills or thrills just a clean room and comfortable beds. Very simple rooms with not a lot of furniture or extras. Location is ideal to walk everywhere near the shops and harbor and pier. They should add that their pool is heated because we would have brought Boardshorts had it been advertised.

The rooms are very bare. There are just 2 chairs and not even a table to put a coffee cup or any bags etc. you must use the floor. There is barely any storage. The night stand is tiny and no outlets nearby to charge devices. The outside is charming but really sad once inside the room. The location is nice and staff was good. The weekend rates are high and should deliver better.

The Franciscan was such a charming stay. It was located centrally in the west beach area so it was easy to walk to The Funk Zone, the water, and along State St.

We stayed in a deluxe king bed room and it was spacious, clean, and had a fridge and microwave which we needed for all of our leftovers from the weekend. The staff were friendly and we could have even borrowed the bikes on the property to bike around the city. I would definitely recommend staying here!

The room looked updated pretty recently, and was clean. The staff was nice. We didnt get to enjoy the pool or spa due to rain. We had breakfast one morning. They had basic stuff, eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, cereal, coffee etc...

The only complaint I would mention is the door latch system. If i was traveling by myself, I wouldn't feel safe. There needs to be a secondary latch high up on the door. Our toddler could also open the locked door so easily and we had no way of locking it so she couldnt open it. We had to rig up something to keep it locked. Its definitely a concern.
