The hotel location was perfect, literally right in front of stern’s wharf. Staff was nice and the rooms were clean. Just be aware that there is two buildings. The main building and the north building. The north building isn’t on the beach, but is just a few minutes walk or a 30 second drive from the main building

Location is awesome. Rooms was clean and spacious. Only reason why I am not giving it a 5 star is because the bed was so firm and it made sleeping very uncomfortable for us. It needed a mattress topper IMO. Beds are a preference so I don’t blame the Hotel for that, just wanting to warn you…beds are HARD.
Everything else makes for a good stay.

I would like to start by saying the location of this hotel is amazing. My wife and I booked this stay to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We arrived early and our room was not ready, which was completely understandable. The location is perfect, so there was plenty to do while we waited.

For background, we booked our stay through Expedia. When our room was ready, we received a call confirming it and returned to check in. To our surprise, our room was not located on the hotel property, but across the street and a block away. While the room itself was nice, it felt more like a remodeled apartment than a hotel room.

This separate location has no amenities and no on-site staff. If you want something as simple as a $7 bottle of water, you have to walk a block back to the main property to reach the front desk. If you want to use the hotel’s advertised pool area, you have to walk down the street in your swimsuit like anyone else who is not staying at the hotel.

We were very disappointed and asked management why we were placed off the main property. It was clear this has been a concern for other guests, as management stated this issue has been raised before. When we asked if there was anything that could be done to move us onto the property, they were very firm that nothing could be done. We also expressed that the hotel’s website is misleading, as at no point are you informed that you may not be staying on the actual property. Unfortunately, management was less than accommodating.

The hotel is beautiful and in the perfect location! The only reason I didn’t give 5 starts is the room is nothing special and I had a deluxe room but our balcony was closed in and facing state street which was fantastic. This will be our new go to hotel for Sant Barbara. Great staff as well

the room was ok but i called before i got there to enquire about parking and i was told their wasn’t valet parking but there would be self parking available but the night we checked in they said self parking was available for a 30 a day fee so wasn’t too happy about this i think they could of informed me when i called , also this place offers no brunch and not even a coffee in the lobby or a bottled water they want you to purchase a bottled water for 5 dollars, i’ve stayed in santa barbara multiple times and this was my first time at this place i will not be returning again as i don’t think the price is comparable to the other places i’ve stayed in that offer more for less money . maybe they can supply a couple bottle waters in the room for their guests that just get in from a long drive don’t think that’s too much to ask for

This was our first stay at Harbor View Inn..and it won’t be our last! The staff were very friendly & helpful. Parking was easy to access. A major plus is the property is right next to Jeannine’s! Best breakfast spot in SB! The room was beautiful! Super clean with beautiful views. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a great stay at the Harborview Inn Hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the grounds were well kept. The location is a huge plus—you’re right across from the beach and within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops.

We also enjoyed the pool and sauna, which were both nice and relaxing. The only downside was that the hotel buildings are split across from each other, so you do have to walk a bit to get to the pool. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay and a great spot if you want to be close to the beach.

We were not expecting to be located off site from the main hotel. We had to drive through a residential neighborhood to get to our building. There was ample covered parking. We got a room with a balcony with a \"city view\" which ended up being a view into the neighbors house. The balcony wall ended up being too high to sit and enjoy the view anyway. The mattress was just awful, too sucken in. We did not get great sleep. The ac vent was ill placed and blew in your face all night. The hot water was great and the room had plenty of room. The in room coffee was disappointing. In order to use the amenities, we had to drive back to the main hotel, getting back into the car soaking wet after the hot tub wasn't ideal. The way the hotel charged was off, at check in, they charged my card for about 80% of the bill and at check out I was handed a bill and told I would be charged the remainder which was way more than I was originally quoted,the man tried to explain in a very confusing way,and kept making mistakes in explaining and assured I would only be charge $80 more than quited for parking. We'll see what we actually get charged.

Room was clean and stylish. We loved having a balcony. However, we anticipated better views of the city. Our room was too far from the main hotel and amenities so we never felt comfortable going to the gym, sauna, pool or hot tub because of the long walk outside in the cold, wet conditions. Wish we were closer to that - we would have been more inclined to use them. Also, the listing on Hotels.com indicates that there are laundry facilities. However, that is misleading. There are only laundry services and no explanation about how much or the times for same-day service. Overall, the general location of the hotel is great. The room was comfortable and spacious. The housekeeper was excellent and provided us with a total daily refresh. Enjoyed ourselves overall.

Perhaps the best hotel we stayed in US, even beats most of the 5-star hotels. The room is large and spacious, the bathroom has walk-in show stall which is almost hard to find in U.S., something already a household feature for many decades. The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is simply perfect.

The Good: The property was very well maintained, and the rooms were clean. The AC and heat worked very well. The water pressure and temperature worked very well. There was plenty of dresser space and a small, but satisfactory closet. TV with cable worked perfectly and provided enough channels. The Wi-Fi also worked perfectly.
The Bad: There was no heat lamp next to the shower and heating in the bathroom. The pullout couch bed was too firm. The soap was not good. The toilet is very low (Bad for elderly people). There are no grab bars in the shower or by the toilet (Bad for elderly people).

Parking was so easy, expected to need to search the streets for a space but they have a parking lot and spaces available. Was a little dubious about how nice the room would be from the pictures but we were blown away, was so fresh and clean, north building looked like it had just been built, wish we had time to stay longer, whole area was clean and lovely to walk around at night

To start this off, this was our first trip to Santa Barbara. We were super excited to finally go on a nice vacation near the beach and simply enjoy ourselves. So we decided to choose Harbor View Inn after reading so many great positive reviews. After 5-6 hour drive, we expected to feel welcomed but this wasn’t the case. I have never in my life am the type to pull the race card nor complain about experiencing segregation due to the color of my skin. However from this stay I am disappointed that it still exists. It was VERY highly noticeable that the guests staying in the west wing were all of white descent. Remind you the west wing had all the accommodating necessities that you expect to experience from Santa Barbara like the pool, gym, full balcony, views etc. From our 3 nights 4 days stay. We have passed by the west wing every morning and late evening to get to the beach and back to our room. Just by passing through it was plain to see the people who walked in and out of that building and multiple different couples enjoying their time on their balcony were unfortunate for me to say but within the white descent. It was obvious what race was prioritized/accommodated for. We were put in the “North wing” where we felt excluded and hidden. Not to mention how we were spoken to by staff members especially Cameron (front desk) he was unwelcoming and LACKED Sympathy. We have been to so many hotels in CA but this was the first time we didn’t enjoy our stay. We highly don’t recommend.

Our stay at the Harbor View Inn in Santa Barbara was absolutely perfect! The location couldn’t be better — right across from the beach and just steps from Stearns Wharf and State Street. Our room was spotless, beautifully updated, and had a balcony with a stunning ocean view. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even gave great local restaurant recommendations. The pool area was peaceful and relaxing, surrounded by palm trees and ocean breeze. We also appreciated the little touches — soft robes, quality toiletries, and great coffee in the room. Everything about this hotel felt calm, comfortable, and well cared for. We can’t wait to come back for another weekend getaway!

Great accommodations! The Inn was super clean, all staff were friendly and helpful, location is superb. We walked to shops and restaurants with ease. There is a great surf shop across the street and highly recommend hitting Helena Street Bakery (we went 4X)! We didn't swim in the pool but the hot tub was great. We received a complimentary bottle of wine at check-in and appreciated the corkscrew in the room. We enjoyed a sip on the balcony. Bathroom has separate toilet room which is helpful for families. There was a generous tub and separate shower with ample towels for all. Highly recommend! No changes... except perhaps better pillows.

Likes: location, actual room was clean and spacious, the view from our room was nice (city view). Walkable area, right across from beach and pier, near lots of great restaurants and shops.

Dislikes: customer service was sub par (felt like we were at a motel with the level or service), no water available in room, not convenient to get to actual lobby if you need something, most of the hotel is very outdated, the amenities and pool area look like they haven’t been changed in over 20 years and even had gross stains on chairs and cushions. No access to a microwave if needed. Our room was very noisy, could hear a loud washer & dryer going off most of the day. Felt like we were a burden anytime we asked staff questions.

For the price I would not recommend and would not stay here again.

This place is amazing. Probably the best place we could have picked. I think it’s the closest hotel to the pier. There’s nice restaurants nearby. It’s a few blocks from basically anything and everything we were interested in. The property is beautiful with the stream and the bridges going over the water.
Two small complaints.
1. There’s no microwave for the guests anywhere on the property. If you’re made of money, that isn’t a problem. You just eat out for every meal.
2. Parking is a separate $32 per night. I didn’t notice that anywhere until I showed up. I half expected it, but it’s pretty lame

The property location is the best. Beautiful ocean view, loads of fun things to do. The inns beds are soft and relaxing. The design of the inn is beautiful. You are surrounded by overpriced restaurants FYI. Some upgrades like a microwave in the room should be a must. Only 2 vending machines for such a big property is a no. Front desk should have a walk-in pantry for customers to buy things, 24hr lobby hello. If you enjoy being across the street from the beach this is the place to be.

The asst manager on duty - Jason - did his good job understanding how taking care customer complain with the solution . And the receptionist on duty when I check out - sorry I forgot his name - very friendly and he called me to let me know we had stuffs belonging left in our room - and the bell boys they are very kinds and friendly .

Some concerns need to improves : the worker - cleaning services need to teaineee to be more friendly when meet the customer - like other hotel - and on the booking confirmation must to mentioned which building their confirmation room - on the south , west or north building . So didn’t have any misunderstanding of the customer expectation due to north and west are but further from the ocean and swimming pool like the south / main building .

Location is excellent. Have stayed here before twice and will be back soon. Very clean and service is excellent. Had an issue with air conditioner in our first room which was addressed immediately. Couldn't be fixed at the time and we were immediately moved to another room and because of our issue, we were given a bottle of Champagne for our troubles. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room was very nice and clean and updated . We stayed in a building a block and a half away from main hotel . So there was a little walk to pool. But very close to the main State Sr. Lots of activity on the weekend but when balcony door was closed it was fairly quiet. Lots of places within walking distance . Covered parking for this building ( with what I guess is the going rate for the area for parking ?)
When the sun finally came out, pool area was nice . The”pool bar” was a little shack selling canned drinks from 11-5. But it was fine .
