The property was decent and everything worked but it definitely needs an update. Our room door didn’t seal well and we had a couple of insects getting in, and the carpeting is old. The mirror in the bathroom had water marks and the shower door leaked a bit as well.
The immediate block is sketchy, but it’s a very short walk to everything from this Inn. Lots of sightseeing and great restaurants were easily accessible.
The breakfast was basic continental style but there were plenty of options, and the happy hour 4:30-6:30pm of wine, cheese/crackers was fine.

This hotel is very charming and well maintained. It has a gorgeous garden filled with flowers and greenery, a quiet pool and hot tub, and the rooms are spacious and updated. Each unit has a kitchen and a table. Breakfast is also very good, as it ferra a pretty good variety of food, The location is a very short drive to downtown, or a 15 min walk.

Excellent stay. Friendly, helpful service. Clean room. Lush gardens. The breakfast was much better than comparable hotels that I’ve stayed at. Good quality food. Fresh fruits, fritattas, yogurts, fresh pastries. We checked out the bikes and rode to the mission. Close to the train station: 1/2 mile and State Street.

This was a short overnight trip for my son and me. We enjoyed our stay at Inn by the Harbor because it was a very beautiful hotel. It was small but the patio area was beautiful. Our room also had a very cute and well stocked kitchen which sadly we did not use. The bedroom and bathroom were a very comfortable size. There were also restaurants with in walking distance! Next time I want to go with my husband!

Please keep in mind. The pictures of this hotel are not actually what the hotel looks like. The rooms are very mid, the shower water smells a little like sulfur and there's many homeless people around the property.

This place was a great stay. It’s a small hacienda style hotel with a nice inner courtyard. Nothing fancy, but nice. I’d give it a 5 star, but we had a small ant problem(which was promptly fixed). The breakfast is very good, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

A very quaint and comfortable property located within three blocks of the beach and a half a mile from the Santa Barbara pier. Room was very comfortable with a large king bed small kitchen and small 3/4 shower bathroom, too. Concierge staff, especially Mickey, were very helpful and entertaining with restaurants dining tips etc. However, as a retired commercial real estate appraiser with 45 years experience, the accommodations were overpriced for what was presented. What’s up, kid?

Everything was great. This is definitely a hidden gym. The staff work extra hard to ensure a pleasant experience. We made sure to tidy up after ourselves to not create extra work for them. And we made sure that they got tipped out appropriately. Hard to find people that stand behind their work, this business does. We have been here once before and had a pleasant experience as well, we'll be back soon

Stayed for three nights with family. The property itself was nice, and having a full kitchen was helpful for the trip. It was in quick driving distance to beach areas, downtown, and Funk Zone. Staff were nice and the breakfast was pretty convenient before heading out in the morning. Two small complaints though. First the bathroom door was slightly pulling out from the doorframe at the hinge, making the door hard to close. Second, all the rooms face a narrow courtyard, which is nice aesthetically but offers little privacy unless you keep your window drapes shut at all times.

LOVED this gem of a hotel. The landscaping is lush and exquisite and the room was bright, fresh, and clean. We were surprised to have a full kitchen which was also very stylish (white/ grey marble) and fully equipped. I’m not sure all of the rooms have kitchens. Easy parking, and the breakfast was quite nice with fresh pastries, etc.

The property hired a good photographer to take its pictures for the booking site, which made us believe the property was a luxury place.
We stayed in a suite with 3 rooms and a kitchen.
The property itself is old and basic. The rooms were old and nothing special at all.
The beds were comfortable.
A very small bathroom.
Cleanliness was good.
Breakfast was terrible. Very basic pastry and apples. We ended up eating elsewherez

During our honeymoon, trip from San Francisco to L.A. in March 2026, we stayed here one night. I had booked a Deluxe Room with King Bed for $309.00. From the online photo of this particular room type, and for the price, I was expecting something special, but was assigned dark, dingy room #216, located on the ground floor at the rear of the property. Instead of the expected garden view with floor to ceiling windows as shown for this room type, there was no window at all in the front next to the entrance door. The only way to see the garden was to leave the door open! There was a rear window, facing a parking lot with a view of a bush and a large ugly storage container which we named \"The dumpster\". There was an array of junk out back too. We kept the blinds closed to pretend that view didn't exist. Of course the room was dark even during daytime. This room was NOTHING like the one in the photo and could not possibly be one of the deluxe rooms. My lady was so upset. I asked the front desk to ask for a better room but the only one available was an adjacent room 215 with a queen bed instead of the king. It did have a front window to the garden but the friendly desk person warned us that many people complain about that room because one wall is shared with the laundry room which is noisy. We stayed with the original dark, dingy room. What a disappointment! All nine other hotels on our trip were wonderful. I can't believe I chose this place over all the beautiful ones nearby.

We had a nice stay at this property. However, I would have marked everything excellent but the fact that they had construction going in the room next door to us when we specifically asked for a quiet location was really disappointing. We came back to the room to rest during the day around 3:30 and the table saw was grinding away. The front desk said earlier in the day that it was going to be over at 3:30. I had to call the front desk twice to ask them to please stop with the construction. We should have had some sort of discount for this inconvenience. It would have been really nice if someone could have changed the construction schedule so that we did not have to experience this.

The online pictures made it look really nice, but when we got there, we realized that it was older and the rooms were small and needed updating. We had a nice view of the courtyard out of our front door, but the back window faced a dirty broken down fence with weeds. It was about a 20 minute walk to the beach.

My husband and I came to stay here for our honeymoon and we were so happy. Mickey, who checked us in at the front desk, was delightful! We got upgraded to a room with a patio (I don’t even think they knew it was our honeymoon, so that felt really lucky) and everything was clean and lovely. There was a full kitchen and full size refrigerator, a desk, robes, champagne glasses and an ice bucket, and a TV with a DVD player. This place has free dvd and bicycle rentals from the sister property next door, and we used both! We loved taking the bikes around town. They were all in good condition and had baskets on the front. I also loved the free breakfast in the morning and wine and cheese happy hour in the evenings. We felt right at home, and we would absolutely come back here again in the future. I forgot to mention that it’s VERY close to the ocean. On our first night, we did a full moon walk by the beach all the way down to the end of the wharf and had a romantic time snuggling and listening to seals barking. We spoke to a few people around town and when we mentioned Inn by the Harbor, everyone’s reaction was “that’s a lovely place to stay!” and we couldn’t agree more. Thank you Mickey and team!!

A wonderful place to stay!! From the continental breakfast to the happy hour, this hotel is terrific! The staff is so welcoming and accommodating, you feel like you are staying with friends. A quick walk to the beach, State street, and the harbor…you can leave your vehicle safely at the property. There is a full kitchen in the room, and each faces the open courtyard and pool area. I look forward to returning…my teenager loved the cookies too!

We spent our 40th anniversary here. Our room was great! We had a sitting area and the bed was so comfortable. We received a bottle of champagne. Their breakfast is wonderful. We were close to the beach and downtown! The staff is very friendly. The hotel has lush plants and flowers. Highly recommend!

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay here. The room was spotless and well-maintained, with a very comfortable bed and surprisingly quiet atmosphere for being near the freeway. The staff was incredibly friendly and made check-in a breeze. We really appreciated the complimentary breakfast in the morning and happy hour in the evening. The Wi-Fi was reasonable fast and reliable, which made catching up on emails and news convenient. The waterfront is within easy walking distance and they don’t charge extra for parking. We’ll definitely be staying here again on our next road trip!

Upon arrival 7:05 PM we were informed that the power will be cut from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM on the following day.
Not hot water, or hot breakfast and the kitchen in the room will not support food we brought with us.
The attendant offer us to cancel our booking, or to get a room at their sister hotel, we accepted to move to the other hotel, but after 30 minutes of trying, he informed us that there is no room for the two rooms in the other hotel for our entire stay. We then had to go through registration in the hotel. With the time wasted we lost a show we wanted to see.
We showered at 5:45 AM the next morning.
The manager eventually credited $50.00 per room. \"We offered you the option to cancel your reservation when you arrived\" he said.

The room was in as good a condition as it could be for one in need of some basic updating like tile and paint refreshing. Also, the carpet was filthy. I believe housekeeping just sweeps, not vacuums and they are very much in need of carpet cleaning or replacement. Also, I had to replace my key card twice and the times it actually worked required multiple swipes. It was nerve racking not knowing if I would be able to get back in every time I left. One time a maintenance person used their card to let me in, and the other time I had to go to the lobby in my PJs after thinking I could make a quick trip to my car for something I forgot. The housekeeping and desk staff were very helpful -- with the exception of the manager who was grumpy and rude. The grounds and hot tub/pool area are very well maintained.

I made the mistake of choosing this property (the “Inn”) and paying a huge premium, because it was one of the only ones I found with a kitchen and that didn’t allow pets While I adore pets, unfortunately I can’t stay at such places due to health reasons.

Friends and family stayed elsewhere, at much lower pricing, and higher quality rooms.

The Inn: dingy and old looking carpet, dingy feeling/dark rooms, cleanliness wasn’t great, a very noisy location. There were a few maintenance issues as well - a few ants here and there, even on the bed, the bathroom sink drain couldn’t be closed, the bedside lamp bulb would start flickering after a few minutes, etc. Also, while there was a stovetop, there was no oven or toaster oven. Seems that should have been specified in “kitchen” description.

The staff was reasonably friendly. But when I wanted to talk to a manager about housekeeping having entered my room when I specifically asked that they NOT do so, no one could be found, and I never heard back from anyone.

Unfortunately the property photo was also deceiving … it’s not nearly as nice or well maintained as the photo made it seem.

I booked this room for my wife and I for Valentine's Day based on the photos shown on expedia's website. When we arrived, the outside of the hotel looked nothing like the photos. Extremely deceiving and disappointing. The hotel appeared to be very Rundown and looked nothing as advertised. We did not bother to check in.

Room was clean and promptly cleaned every morning. The courtyard is adorable—lots of foliage, pool and jacuzzi, umbrellas and green. Very quiet and relaxing in the jacuzzi every morning. The breakfast was very good as well, a few steps up from continental for sure. My only issue came with my room key, which very easily was erased whenever it got anywhere near my cell phone. Tried to keep them apart but had to get a new keycard 6 times during my 5 night stay. Technology upgrade would take care of that issue. I would definitely stay here again.
